MLB LIVE🔴 Miami Marlins vs Kansas City Royals – Jul 18, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
All right, just about ready for baseball and towing the slab here, Ronnie Enriquez. What’s the word on him? Well, he’s allowing just over one base runner per inning, which is really good, especially for a starter because these hitters get to see you two, three, maybe even four times in a start. So, just shows you how deceptive and how effective his stuff is. We’ll see if it’s that way in this one. Jonathan India at the plate in there at the knees and we are underway. Breaking ball misses down and away. I got a ball. One strike. Just the third pitch of the night and already a little question on the strike zone of the umpire in this one. Lined into right. Sters balls it in and there’s one away. And here now the lineup for the Royals. We could be in for a power showcase today with the wind blowing out. A lot of lift and separate Chris. Well, we know hitters are in this era definitely trying to hit the ball in the air regardless of the conditions. But I think even a little more so there’s margin for error if you can get the ball up in the air. So, you know, you’ll see at times I’m sure with two strikes what looks like a half swing that can get out of the ballpark with a hitter who’s got decent pop. Bobby Wit Jr. the next to hit takes outside and that’s in for a strike. You know, Boo, this is a player with some serious speed. In 2023, he became the first player in 20 years to record two infield hits and an inside the park home run in the same game. And no one can get there. So, they get a man aboard with a one out single. Just so sound in his mechanics. It’s against a firm front side and the hands just continue to carry through the middle of the field. So, digging in, Vinnie Pasquantino. Let’s go Ronnie. Smoked into the left. Base hit. Whit around second. Rounds third. Headed for the plate. Safe. And it’s one- nothing. Love how he let that ball travel. Trusted his hands. Nice job of going the other way. Garcia. And to the plate for Kansas City, Mikel Garcia. [Applause] That one not close. And that’s ball one. [Applause] And another ball. [Applause] man at second on the ground right side and foul ball in the air center field. Hill. He’s got it. There’s two away. That is fifth. The catcher number 13, Salvador Perez. And now it’s Salvador Perez to the plate. [Applause] Hard hit to third. slings to first and they get Perez for the out. That ends the inning and they limit the damage. KC gets one on the double. It’s now one- nothing. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Back here at Lone Depot Park and on the mound for Kansas City in this one, Jonathan Bolan. What should we keep an eye on here? Well, Boo may be a little pedestrian there in terms of the ERA, but with those numbers, you expect to be in a ball game and have an opportunity to win. And really, that’s all his teammates can ask for. So, we’ll see if he’s able to be consistent in this one. Bottom of the first. And now for the Marlins. Xavier Edwards. He’s already set a new career best for stolen bases in a season. Chris swinging and a miss. Go and one. Bowling measures 6 feet 6 in 240 lbs and he was a second round pick back in 2018. Out to short with tosses to first one gone bottom half of the first and time now for the Marlins lineup. Not a whole lot going their way offensively the last few games Chris. Yeah. And that can put more pressure on the pitching staff to try to limit the opponent to just one or two runs a game knowing that their offense is not scoring right now. And that never really works well because you try to be too fine and you end up giving up a lot of runs. So we’ll see if everybody can just relax, bring things together and perform at a level that they’re capable of. Augustine Ramirez in the box with one away as he takes ball one. Good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. That missed inside. Two and 0. One out. Base is empty. Next offering is fouled back. and a foul ball. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Swing and that ball smashed down the line. Makes a nice grab and a full sprint. Two down. Wow. He looked like he was running before the ball was hit. didn’t have much time as that was a hard hit liner but a nice job of covering a lot of ground in a short amount of time and first offering is fouled off. Two out space is empty and that is out of play. Next pitch downstairs. It’s a ball in two strikes. Really good slider. He’s up there just hoping that it ends up off the plate away. Two down. Doon swing and a ground ball. Base hit right field. [Applause] batting for the shortstop. So man aboard and the batter will be the shorts stop Otto Lopez and that misses and that is ball one. Two outs. Chopped left side and it goes just fouled. That fast ball at the bottom of the zone can be very effective. Just got to keep it on the corners. And that one is in for a strike. Good pitch. One ball, two strikes. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. One left for Miami and it remains one- nothing. Back here in Miami, second inning, set to go. Here’s the rookie right fielder, Jack Kaggle Leone. Leo and that is downstairs. Ball one and another ball. Boo. Our man Daryl Parker DP at home plate for this one. Pretty average size strike zone, but the book on him is that it sort of moves around. You can’t always count on how he’s going to call it from game to game. Swinging a miss. And it’s two and one. Yeah, he’s one of those umpires that I have to see make his call on a borderline pitch before I start making my call. Like you said, it’s not always predictable, but it’s pretty fair for the most part. Swings and misses. And that’s the first out. He came out of his mechanics there. Typically likes to shoot the ball the other way, but that time little anxious. Nothing. Nick Loftton the next to hit. Good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. There’s a strike. [Applause] Here’s a swing and a drive left field and he knew it. A solo shot. His fourth home run of the season and they add to the lead. It’s two nothing. A good hitter gets pitch recognition early. He saw exactly where that was going to be. The challenge, not get over anxious and come out of your swing. He stayed on it and got all of it. Base is empty, one away. John Rae steps in for the Royals. Basketball for a strike. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] line drive. That’s a base hit. So, a man aboard now with one away. The first move felt like a bit of a guess. You have to be right in those spots or things can get away from you awfully quickly. 28. Kyle Isbel. And now it’s Kyle Isbel. [Applause] There’s the strike. [Applause] to third. Senoha to second pulls him off the bag. Now batting designated hitter Jonathan India. Jonathan India steps in for the Royals. 0 for one so far. [Applause] And there’s a breaking ball that drops in there. [Applause] Two on, one out. Swinging a high-fly ball right field. Two down. Now batting shortstop Bobby Wit Jr. Now here’s Bobby Wit Jr. Singled and scored his first time [Applause] and that traps him for a strike. Well, I know they’ve gotten out to an early lead, but you don’t want to take these opportunities for granted with two outs. Still lock in with a quality at bat. Drive in that run. You may not have another runner in scoring position the rest of this ball game. Kick and deal ground ball right side and that’s just fouled. Well, he gave up on that pitch early and it ended up staying in the zone. I’m sure he’s kicking himself and would like that pitch again. Nope. Outside. And the next pitch is way outside. [Applause] Drilled out towards left center field. That’s well struck. That’s back. And that one hops the wall. One run across in there. He’s safe and it’s four nothing. Wasting no time. Two for two now on the night and just a triple and home run away from the cycle. Seriously, we’re starting with this already. So, runner at second, two down. And now the first baseman, Vinnie Pasquantino. He doubled home a run at his first AB. And the pitch is outside. Ball one. [Music] [Applause] man on second. Two down. Miami’s bullpen with some action. Valente Beayoo appears to be getting ready and I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves. This would be his major league debut. Number 66 getting loose as well. The 1-1 is fouled off. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] That’s to third. It’s in and out of his glove. Gets off a throw that ends the inning and stops things from getting out of hand. But three score in the inning. two of them on this two-run double. It’s now a four nothing ball game. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Bottom of the second. Now it’s the rookie first baseman, Eric Wagman. Eric Wagerman. Eric. Just missed. and a 1-1. Looks like he thinks that should have been a strike at the top of the zone, but doesn’t seem to be too upset. That’s just a case where I think he’s trying to get a better feel for the umpire strike zone and what he’s going to be calling. And that’s just a part of pitching. Next offering is downstairs late with the swing there. Threw that fast ball right by him. Slightly elevated. That’s a confidence boost for this guy out there on the mound. See if he continues to climb the ladder. And they’ll do it again. [Music] Foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. [Music] And there’s a hit. He saw a lot of pitches in that at bat. Found a way to win the battle. Just a great at bat right there. Saw a lot of pitches. Solid swing from start to end. on time with everything. Really good balance. Nice extension and he met it out front for the line drive knock. So a man at first now Dane Meyers and that’s off the inside edge and it’s one and0. Keep it going. This one in the air. Pasquantino puts it away for the out and there’s one down. That was a good hard fast with some nice ride up in the zone right there. Hitter looked like he was on it, but I think that velocity at the end just beat him instead of a line drive or something hit deep. It’s a pop up and an easy out for the defense. Kyle Sters batting with one down takes the strike. Swinging a foul out of play. [Music] And that one almost got him. Two balls, two strikes. Really good take, especially with two strikes [Applause] and a foul ball. He stays alive. [Music] Got him looking for the strike out. That was pretty nasty. Derek Hill the next up for the Marlins Hill. Now this is in the air down the line. Ray sizes this one up and he makes the catch and that ends the inning. Marlins leave one. They trail it here four nothing. And we’re back. Top half of the third inning. Now it’ll be the cleanup hitter for the Royals. Mel Garcia. Enriquez back to work inside. Just missed. I think this is an important inning on the mound for him in this game. He’s got to find a way to settle things down and give some length in this start. Out there to center. Hill coming on, makes the grab, tracks it down after the long run, and a quick out number one. That’s just a really nice catch on the run right there. He saved extra bases for sure. If the pitcher’s his friend, he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch. And first off is fouled off. This one in the air right field and there are two down the right fielder number 14 Jack and next up for the Royals Jack Kaggle Leone. His first at bat was a strikeout. He’s got pop, which is a little sneaky because he’s so comfortable with taking his base hits to the opposite field, but he can jump you if you make a mistake. Nope. Oh, he looks more focused at the plate and working the count after that first at bat strikeout. And that drops in for a strike. In today’s game, not that many fast ball counts, but hitters still in the back of their minds, they’re looking for one. Two change up call right there. Excellent pitch selection to go with. Swing and a chopper out to short. Zips it to first. That’s a third out. Nothing doing for the Royals, but they lead it four to nothing. Ready to go for the last half of the inning. Here’s the rookie third baseman, Javier Senoha. SOHA. Breaking ball misses down and away. [Applause] Swing at a line drive ripped out into right center. That’s a base hit and the leadoff man aboard. Now batting the second baseman. Anytime you rip a line drive the other way, you feel really good about what you did at the plate. You trusted your hands. You let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it. That’s great work right there. And first offering is fouled off. [Music] gets the outside corner with that one. That one missed. Well, he missed badly with that O2 fast ball. Hitter has to understand probably wants to try to put him away with that pitch. So, got to stay ready for it. [Music] line drive and out number one on the grab. It’s never fun going back to the dugout after hitting a line drive that finds a glove. But you will get some high fives. You know, when you make great contact, you feel like you’ve done everything right. But in this game of baseball, not everything is in your control. Augustine Ramirez getting ready to hit. He’s 0 for one. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Well, the key to his success is getting ahead early in the count. He cannot afford to go deep in the counts. Doesn’t have a ton of swing and miss stuff, so he’s going to have to work efficiently. Man at first, one away. That one just misses. Too close for me partner to take that O2 fast ball, but for whatever reasons he let it go by. He’s still in the at bat. I don’t think he’ll let the next one go. Next pitch, a slider that misses outside. Cut on and lifted in the air. Kaggleó sizing this one up and there’s two away. Up next for the Marlins, the designated hitter, Arberto, Hernandez. Arberto Hernandez, the next up for the Marlins. One for one with a single so far. And first offering is fouled off. Sedha the runner at first with two gone. Pitch misses there and the count even one and one. That’s to third. Throws across the diamond that ends the inning. Welcome back. And now on the mound to start the fourth, Valente Beoo. And he’s been really shutting down hitters from the right side of the plate this year. Not a lot of hard contact, not a lot of hits, period. Here’s the second base, Nick Loftton. He’s already homered in this game. Foul ball there. Well, these Royals doing a good job of putting the ball into play, and that makes things more challenging on the defensive side. And here’s a stat for you, Boo. They’re making contact with more than 85% of the pitches that they’re swinging at. It’s pretty special stuff. Not so good if you’re out there on the mound. Batting leftielder John Man at first. So, up now for Kansas City. John Rae, one for one with a single and a run scored so far. and first offering is fouled off. Bezo measures 5′ 10 in 25 years old and he’s a native of Mexico. And that one hit to first finds its way through base hit and out to a board. Two consecutive base hits for this team. Just one of those seen eye base hits through the infield. Just kind of rolled over on it a little bit, but sometimes those can find a hole and get you a knock. First and second, no outs. And now the center fielder, Kyle Isbel. Looked like it was a little bit up. First and second, no outs. Top half of inning number four. [Applause] Little bit low now. Two and0. Could be some action here on this next pitch. Couple runners on. Probably a challenge pitch coming. That’s off the inside corner and that’s ball three and they’re all loaded up. Perfect. Just came apart right there. Four pitch walk and guy at the plate was not going to help him out by swinging at something out of the zone. Now at the plate, Jonathan India for two in this one. That clips the zone. Strike one. The opportunity for a huge inning exists right here. Bases loaded, nobody out. But as a hitter, can’t be over anxious. That pitcher is up against the wall. Make him come to you. [Applause] That pitch in for a strike. You need a strike out and you need a ball perhaps on the ground for a double play or get yourself a popup something. But you got to make some pitches. But if he can battle and get through this, he can earn some points. [Applause] Swinging on the curve ball and that is a big first out. Oh, that’s a curve ball that I’m sure he wants back at the plate. Two strikes, the sort of pitch you’re hoping for. A bit of a mistake and I’d say in a very hitable location, but clearly the break was enough to get him to swing through it. So up next, Bobby Whit Jr. We just might be talking about this at bat in our postgame rap. He’s proven he can drive in runs in these spots. Swing and a tapper that rolls foul. [Music] [Applause] Ah, ground ball and that’s through the infield. One run is in and they hold the runner at third. Bases remain loaded here. Still only one gone. Well done. Drives in the run. He kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit, but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock. And you’ll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole. So digging in, Vinnie Pasquantino. [Applause] Swing and a popup. Foul territory for the catcher. Ramirez makes the grab and there’s two gone. Well, that was a pitch you got to crush. Unbelievable that he missed it right there. And I’m telling you, he is going to be frustrated with himself until his next at bat. So, they’re all loaded up. And to the plate for Kansas City, Mikel Garcia [Applause] first offering misses badly for ball one. [Applause] Fast ball for a strike. [Applause] That one fouled off. [Applause] [Applause] started after the one-two pitch. Appeal to first and Matthew Ross right on it says he held up [Music] on the ground. Senoha fires across the diamond. They limit the damage here. So, one run in the inning on this base hit and the lead is now 5 nothing. Back after this on the show. Bottom four. Here’s the short stop at the plate. Lopez. Lopez. fouled off left side. The old one ball just picks up. That’s a strike across the top of the zone. Swings through it and that’s a strike out. Just a great slider right there. And I think the key for pitchers and what hitters don’t want to see is if a pitcher misses with that pitch that he misses off the edge of the strike zone rather than in the middle of the strike zone. And right there, excellent execution and it finished up in a perfect spot. Wagaman at the plate for the second time as he takes ball one. Next offering is in for a strike. One and one. Rolled slowly to first and foul ball. Base is empty. One away. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. Strike three and that’s two in a row. Well, that’s the money maker right there. Two strikes. down and away from the same side thrower as the hitter. Phoenix is tough. You’re looking to protect with two strikes and very difficult to lay off. Meyers takes a ball as he stands in for the second time. Fast ball is outside. [Applause] Not close with that one. And the count is three and one. A rare three ball count here. He’s been throwing strikes all day. Got to be ready to hit if you’re in the box. Draws the walk there. ball. Well, two out walks are never good, especially when you’re trying to get back into that dugout. But he’s still in a good spot. He’s just got to refocus and deal with the bottom of this order. Manager out of the dugout now. And it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound. Jonathan Bolan is done. And that’s an excellent job from the reliever in the starting role today. Gave him some length. Back with a new arm after this. Now pitching for the Michael Lorenzan gets the ball now. He last pitched four days ago, so he should feel pretty fresh. One of the things about that two-out walk, the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead. So, a ball down the line or into the gap will produce a two out RBI. And those are the best. That is if you are the offensive side of it. And now the right fielder Kyle Sters struck out looking his first time. And that’s downstairs and that’s ball one. Meyers leads off first with two down to the inning. Just missed. Nasty back door slider. There’s really nothing you can do with that if you swing at it. So, it’s a good take by him. Laorenzan checks over to first and he’s back. Two and0 to Cal. Here it comes. And that one fouled off the 2-1. Swinging a foul back and that’s out of play. Two outs. 3-2 now. 3-2. Two out. Runner on first. Lot of movement in the infield. Hitters got to stay focused on the pitch. drilled out towards left center field. Ray on the move to the gap. He’s got it. That is the inning. So, it’s no runs, no base hits, no errors, and one left. Onto the top of the fifth we go. It’s the Royals five and the Marlins nothing. Back here in Lone Depot Park, top five, John Shabi with Chris Singleton. And leading it off, Salvador Perez. Let’s go Marlin. Come on, Miami. Now fly ball to right center. Sters on the move to the alley. Pauls it in for the out. Every day during batting practice, these outfielders get about 10 minutes of balls in the gaps. They practice this and when the game comes, they make the play perfectly. And next up for the Royals, Jack Kaggle Leone. Missed with a change up. Ball one. And there’s a foul ball. Here we go. Miami base hit center field. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. So important to get into the fielding position after you deliver that baseball. That is a scary one. Watch your lips. Nick Loftton now at the plate. He’s already homerred here in this one. That one close rule to ball. One and0. That one pushed foul. [Music] Swaging a ball hit out towards left center field. Flashes the leather on the run and catch. Two away now. [Applause] Now batting the left fielder John Ray. So up now for Kansas City, John Rae. He’s two for two. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Late swing fouled to the left. Let’s go. The 1-1 is fouled off. Cut on and missed. And it’s a strikeout. And that is the inning. So, one left for Kansas City, but they hold a five nothing lead. And welcome back to the ballpark. We head to the bottom of the fifth. Here’s the center fielder, Derek Hill. That one down the line. Tosses across the first and the lead offense set down in their half of the fifth. Next for the Marlins, the third baseman, Javier. Here’s the third baseman, Javier Senoha. A single his first time. Miami fast for a strike. Activity in the Kansas City bullpen. Lucas preparing to come on if needed. Well, he didn’t like those first two pitches. Now in an 02 hole. He’s going to have to battle. Hope he gets a mistake. Let’s go Miami. Sets him down on strikes. Fast ball at the letters froze him for strike three. The batter number nine. And now it’s the switch in second base, Xavier Edwards. Edwards. That one finds the zone and it’s 0 and one. Lifted in the air right field. Kaggleó pulls it down and that is that. Number 66 comes on. Now, this softball has been really good against left-handed hitters. Number 66, Josh Simpson. And now the center fielder, Kyle Isel, number 28, Kyle Isel. Let’s go Marlins. Fun attempt. Popped up, stretches out and hauls it in. Well, he gave the bun a shot there, but not able to execute. Yeah, I think he rushed it a little bit. And when guys rush, can be a popup or can be bunted right back at a position player. India can do this. India stands in now and watches strike one. Action in the pen down there. Anthony Bender getting ready to go. Foscher also getting ready. One down. Base is empty. Tried to check his swing there. Now an appeal to first. And that’s a swing according to umpire Matthew Ross. fouled off and they’ll do it again [Music] right through there. Got him. Two quick outs to open the top of the six. Frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter and I’m sure that’s going to sit on him for a little while. You want to be ready to hit the fast ball. Sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there. Win stands in here, takes ball one low. Swing and a miss. And now it’s even one and one. One goal, one strike. Two down, nobody on. And we’re in the top half of the sixth. in the air to left center. Meyers on the move. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. And that is that. So they go quietly there. 234 do up in the home half of the six. It’s the Royals five and the Marlins nothing. Back here in Miami. Bottom of the sixth inning. Here’s the catcher, Augustine Ramirez. Lorenzan back to work and the first pitch misses for ball one. Bullpen action for the Royals. Lucas Ers, the young right-hander up and throwing. [Music] Swing and a ground ball and that one gets through into center field. Man aboard on the leadoff single. Now batting the designated hitter, Arberto. So now here’s the DH. Arberto Hernandez. just missed. And a foul ball. I want to start that load a little bit sooner because of the good vo. Next pitch in for a strike. One and two. Nobody out. Runner at first. Miami swings and he pops it up near the pitcher mound. Laorenzan carous it and there’s one down. The batter number six, shortstop Otto Lopez. And now the shorts stop Otto Lopez who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. [Applause] And first offering is fouled off. Ramirez leads off first with one away. Next pitch is outside. And it’s foul away. [Music] The one two the short stop takes a ball. The Royals leading by five here in the bottom of the sixth. in the air left field. Ray makes the grab for the second out. And the batter now, Eric Wagman for two. Eric Wagman. Ball one low. That one the other way. Makes the grab and that’ll end the inning. One left for Miami. It’s 5 nothing. And we’re back. The batter now Vinnie Pasquantino Vinnie Pasquantino and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Well, these Royals, simply put, are producing a lot of quality swings. We’ve heard lots of loud noise coming from their bats in this one, haven’t we? I mean, they’ve lost six hits at 90 plus exit velocity, and that doesn’t happen by accident. And ball one. One ball, two strikes, Miami. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. Twins and misses. It’s a strike out. Slider got him for strike three. Oh, that slider wasn’t even close to the strike zone and he got him to chase. That’s just a bad approach right there. Either he was looking for something else and got completely fooled or he was sitting all over the slider and just couldn’t resist the temptation. But man, really expanded right there and didn’t have a chance of making contact with that pitch. Garcia stands in here, leaves that one off the inside. Looked pretty good as far as being in the strike zone, but I’m sure as a hitter not too good with where it was located. Very top of the strike zone. Middle away. Base is empty. One away here in the top half of inning number seven. Popped up. Foul territory behind the plate. He makes the grab and there’s two away. [Applause] The catcher number 13, Salvador Perez. Salvi steps into the box now 0 for three with two fly outs and a ground out. Let’s do this Miami. And first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. swinging a ground ball and it goes just foul. I wouldn’t say the game’s close right now, but it’s not out of reach either. I mean, these pitchers really need to put up a zero on the board just to maintain a little hope. One ball, two strikes the count. [Music] And the slider just misses. This one in the air. Ramirez settles under this one. Makes the grab and that’s the inning. Royals go down one two three as they are unable to add to their five nothing lead. [Music] Bottom of the seventh and at the plate for Miami, Dane Meyers. Dave Meyers. First pitch and he just misses. [Applause] And that’s a strike. In this situation, you expect the batters to be a little more patient, possibly take until they get a strike. With that, you don’t want to miss your opportunity to get ahead early in the count. He didn’t right there. Swing and a bouncer out to short with the lead off intercept down to open the seventh. Now batting right fielder Kyle. Now it’s the right fielder Kyle Stard slides but it gets by him. The center fielder number three, Derek Hill the next up for the Marlins. Hill and that misses ball one. Sters over at first with one away. That’s down and in. Here [Applause] we go. Let’s go. Ball in. [Applause] And ball four to a board. Well, this could be the start of something. They haven’t found a way to score yet. Now is their chance to change that. Two on, one out. And now it’s going to be Javier Senoha. That one misses. That’s five straight. [Applause] Swag and a miss. And the count one and one. [Music] on the ground to short. Could be two off balance feet. There’s one to first, but it pulls him off the bag. Well, they had the chance of turning two right there, but I don’t think he got a good grip on the ball as he tried to transfer from glove to throwing hand. They say you can’t assume a double play. I beg to differ at the big league level, but it’s going to be ruled as a fieldielder’s choice. Xavier Edwards gets a chance to hit here and that is out of play. [Music] And now the count is even. [Applause] Swing and a miss and he chases that one in the dirt in time. The two-3 strikeout ends the inning. Marlin strand a pair still looking at that five nothing deficit. We’re at the top of the eighth head and to the plate for Kansas City. Jack Kaggle. Jack Kaggle. Jack swing and he held up. [Music] Ground ball right side. The throw to first. First out in the top of the eighth. Now batting second baseman Nick Loftton at the plate. Nick Loftton. Hit in the air center field. Hill on his way over. Brings it in. And there’s two down. The batter, the left fielder, John John Ra digs in now. [Music] And that’s through there for a strike. Two down, nobody on. And we’re in the top of the eighth on the ground to third. zips it across. That ends the frame. Three up, three down that time. Last half of the eighth coming up, it’s the Royals five and the Marlins nothing. [Applause] Lucas taking over on the mound. He last pitched two days ago. Now pitching for Kansas City, number 60, Lucas Airg. And here is Augustine Ramirez, one for three. Miami. That’s in there. It’s 0 and one activity in the Kansas City bullpen. Sam Long, the left-hander up and throwing. Shriber warming up as well. [Music] And he’ll one. That one ripped but foul. this to third. Garcia handles, throws to first. Lead off man is out here in the eighth. Now batting the designated hitter, Arberto. Next is the designated hitter, Ariberto Hernandez. [Music] right through there for a strike. And it’s even up that one in triple digits. Well, that’s really the money spot down and away. If you can locate that consistently, it’s going to be real tough for hitters to square that up. That’s what you love to see relievers do coming out of that bullpen. One down, base is empty. Nope. That’s off the plate. Ball two. that one outside and now it’s three and two. The Royals leading by five here the bottom half of the eighth inning. Swaying and a highf fly ball in the air left field. Ray makes the catch and there’s two down. The batter number six, shortstop, Otto Lopez. The next up for the Marlins [Applause] Miami. That one hammered but pulled foul. The shorts stop takes a ball. Wow. Triple digits on the gun. I I know there are more pitchers that can reach that now than in the past, but it’s still impressive to watch. Up and in. Now, two balls in a strike. That’s good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and in just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, get a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. SW Bed. That’s bad. That’s not coming back. His 11th of the year. And they’re on the scoreboard. It’s 51. That one just sounded different. And it might have been the loudest moment yet. Man, my ears are ringing. I could feel that swing from the boot. Knew what pitch he wanted to hit. Spent on some other pitches in this atbat. Was very patient and it paid off. [Applause] [Applause] Base is empty with two away. And up next for Miami, Eric Wagabe. [Applause] Yeah, that’s fouled off. [Applause] Two down on bottom of the zone and a called strike. Triple digits on that last pitch. One for the Marlins on the solo shot. It’s now 51. You’re dialed into the show. Now pitching. We’re back. It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Anthony Bender. Well, good luck against this guy. He’s been extremely tough to hit this year. His numbers are excellent. Now it’s going to be Kyle Isel. Isel. Now a drag bun. Third base side. sends it across to first and the bunt attempt doesn’t work out. Well, I think the defense was anticipating something here because they were really ready to defend as that ball was put down. Nice little drag bunt, but they get the out and way to go. So, now the DH spot, Jonathan India taken high in the draft. He’s had that top prospect labeled over him since he put on a professional uniform, but at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level. Activity in the bullpen. Calantrol, the right-handed sinker ballerie. He looks to be readying himself. Here’s the one. And that’s downstairs and outside. Bases empty, one away. You’re in the top of the ninth. on the ground to the left. Throws the first in time. The batter number seven shorts stop Bobby Wit Jr. Two out. Space is empty. Now a chance for Bobby Wit Jr. He’s turned into one of the best shorts stops in the game. That’s inside. That’s inside. [Applause] close but called a ball. Ball two and that’s down and away [Applause] and he walked him on four pitches. You can stomach a two out walk to certain players, but with his speed, this guy out there on the base pass, it could turn into two or three bases. Runner at first with two away. Vinnie Pasquantino steps in for the Royals. Swing and a miss as he was out front. There was a high velocity fastball in the zone. I think a little frustration from walking the previous hitter. He’s got good stuff. Pitch inside the zone and trust it. Yeah. Now the one. That was the sweeper, but it missed. That’s outside. And that’s ball two. [Applause] [Music] He swings and fouls one off. [Music] [Applause] Two two now. That one lifted to left. Meyers and makes the grab. And that is that. So no runs, no hits, no errors, and one left on base. 678 scheduled to start the bottom of the ninth. It’s the Royals five and the Marlins won. now pitching for back now as they hand the ball to a fresh arm to start the bottom of the ninth. Steven Cruz, power slider guy, boo. He throws it hard and gets a lot of late movement so it’s tough to pick up. Now the left fieldielder performance. The left fielder Dave Meyers. [Applause] Foul ball. [Applause] There’s his swinging a miss. I think he was sitting off speed there. 02 is the count. Got him looking frozen with the heater at the knees. Well, just excellent location on that inside fast ball. Really locked him up. It’s a hitter. It’s not typically what you’re looking for. You’re trying to protect away and then in. So, you can be a little bit tardy with two strikes. It’s hard to tell if he was fooled or if he thought it would be called the ball, but either way, that’s a really nice pitch. He’s two outs away. Next to hit, Kyle Sters. First pitch. Not close. [Applause] [Music] And there’s a ball. [Applause] That’s too low. Three and one now. The Royals leading by four. We’re in the last half of the ninth inning. That breaking ball drops in for a strike, man. 91 on the slider right there. That’s a hard one. That’s a low end fast ball for some pitchers. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. [Music] Hard on the ground to first and he takes it himself for the out the center fielder number three Derek Hill. Marlins down to their final allow. Derek Hill the next to hit. That one fouled off. [Music] Started after the 01 pitch and now a check down to first. Didn’t go. The Marlins down by four here in the last half of inning number nine. And delivers outside. [Applause] Fouls one off. Two and two. This could end it. had a slider misses down and away. [Music] Hit to right and that should do it. And that’ll do it. Sometimes it takes just getting away from home. Players can sort of come together, connect a little bit more than they do when they’re at home with their families and that can breed to success on the field as we saw in this game today. Excellent win by this team. 51 is how it ends for Chris Singleton and our entire crew here at MLB the show. Thanks for stopping by. I’m John Shami. Talk to you soon.
