#DallasCowboys Fish at 6 LIVE: So, Jaydon Blue Is ‘Lazy’? We Hear From 3 People From Inside The Star

Dallas Cowboys rookie. Jay on Blue is borderline lazy already. We’re already done with him. I’m Mike Fiser, your trusty and trusted reporter. This is the fishbowl and I TGI if Thank God it’s fish. Um we’re going to spend uh some time tonight on one redhot issue and one sizzling hot sports opinion. on the subject of Jayon Blue. Uh if you’re not familiar with this, we’ve got two stories up right now at cowboyscountry.com that’ll take you in more depth, but we’re going to go into some depth here, too. A reminder, first annual uh cowboy watching party fishest the weekend of October 12th uh here in DFW at the Maverick Bar. Uh get more information as we go, but folks are coming in from all over the country and obviously all over Texas and DFW as well. We’d love to see you there. October 12th, uh, the Maverick Bar, Dallas Cowboys would love to see the rookie running back Jayden Blue blossom into being a starter. It’s possible. It’s a good idea. Uh, but first, according to the testimony of a former Dallas staffer, Blue might need to prove before he’s a starter, might need to prove that he’s a worker. Cowboys have completely remodeled their running back’s room, of course, using free agency. They bring in Miles Sanders. They bring in Devonte Williams. Then they draft the speedster Longhorn running back Jaden Blue out of the University of Texas in the fifth round. New head coach Brian Shanheimimer, last time we had a chance to talk to him, asked and asked him about drafting both Blue and Mafa. You know, could they be start? He said, “We wouldn’t have drafted them if we didn’t think so. Uh maybe that’s something a coach just says by road or maybe it reflects a combination of a faith in the player and b the hole that must be filled. Uh Richard Leopold, what do you expect from a fourth string running back who started five games in? And it’s true. Now, I don’t expect laziness. I expect questions about what Jayden Blue is and how he got here. And I expected the Cowboys scouting staff and coaching staff did that. In our visits with Dallas coaches, we’ve heard consistent praise for blue. And in our personal observation, I say our, I mean mine of OTAAS and mini camp, I I I haven’t seen a sore thumb issue there. So I haven’t seen a sore thumb issue. I haven’t heard of one since he’s been drafted from inside the Star. But one former Cowboy staffer and you may know him uh at Stretch Glenn Stretch Smith. Now he was on he was a lower level assistant 25 years ago. Uh a good perfectly good guy. Uh so I’m not going to rip Stretch, but I’m also not going to rip Blue. And I’m going to explain why. I will say this and and uh Joey, I’m going to help you out here. I I think I’m going to get to the bottom of where this came from. And we’ve now talked to three people about this from inside the Star. So, you’ve come to the right place. Your initial My initial reaction to this is my very first initial reaction that’s not fair. He just got here. That’s not fair to label him, uh, to label his personality. He just got here. And I, and I, I wonder, and this came up with a conversation with one of my sources, wonder how many people in the building even know him yet. So, here comes Stretch, former Cowboy Stafford from 25 years ago. Initial reaction again. He must have talked to somebody inside the building. That was my initial reaction. Trusting Stretch who has gone from being uh lower level assistant 25 years ago who does some media stuff now. He was on with um he was on with uh the locked on Cowboys, those fellas on podcast. Steve. So Javvante’s a bust and Miles’s going to get cut and Blue is lazy. It all sounds like BS. When you add it up that way, it does all kind of sound like BS, huh, Reed? Have you ever heard of a report about a fifth round pick from any other team about being lazy before camp even opens? Um, not unless he’s fat. We’ve heard about fat guys. Hey, we got to, you know, he he he weighs weighs 330. We got to get him to 300. You hear that? But no, not very often do I hear stories about a incredibly fast fifth round running back who seems to be doing all the right things, who’s, you know, like 5’9, 19, whatever he is, 510, 193. No, I don’t think I’ve ever I don’t know that I’ve ever heard that before. Rick Charlton, quit getting your cowboy information from Facebook. In fact, quit getting any information from Facebook. I know you’re half joking. Unless it’s a post from your grandchildren saying, “Here’s a picture of us at camp. Don’t believe anything on Facebook anymore.” Bill Wood, if he had this fatal level flaw, wouldn’t it A have been evident in Austin and B, wouldn’t the scouts have seen it? Yeah. Here’s the quote. And there’s a lot of quotes in this podcast. I mean, stretch goes on and on and on and on, just drilling this kid. I’m already hearing some rumblings out of the building about the running back they just drafted and him being kind of borderline lazy. He’s not in the building. He’s not doing his offseason workouts. So, get your ass in here and let’s get going a little bit because I think that’s a firm message that needs to be sent. And that’s just a snippet of what Stretch said. It’s a lot of stuff for a fifth round rookie who just got here. Uh, and I’m I am going to I’m going to try to call a stretch tonight. I I have called some of the people that were involved in the production on and on and on and just drilling the kid. And so, first of all, the response from Jaden on social media, and he said it’s people are writing fake stories about me. And I I can see why he would say that. Then I talked to somebody inside the building who said once June 18th got here, the rookies don’t need to be in here anymore. That doesn’t mean some of them weren’t, but it’s the suggestion is on June 18th, a bunch of the rookies scatter and that it’s okay. What he didn’t do for me is give me a list. Give me a list of all the rookies that show up all the time and give me a list of the rookies that don’t show up all the time. I have a feeling what he’s trying to tell me is Jayen Blue is not the only rookie who on June 18th said, “Okay, good. I’m out of here. Ungo $5 pitch in.” This seems like a bit of a stretch, this report. And if you’re trying to make a pun, you’re right. Glenn stretch. He’s like 66 Glenn. That’s why they call him They called him Stretch. Then the other cowboy source in the building, same fish. We don’t even know him yet. Now, I don’t think he means that the running back’s coach doesn’t know him, and I don’t think he means that the area scout who handles Texas doesn’t. But I think he I think he what he’s saying is if you took a vote of the Cowboys coaching staff of what I think of J, what they think of Jaden Blue, most of them would say, I have no idea. Barely even spoken to him yet. Yeah, I got to get my date straight. Thank you, AD Big. The point is there was a date at which rookies were no longer obliged to be here and so some of them went elsewhere. That is that doesn’t make them lazy. So, I’m trying to figure out and again I’m going to call Stretch. I’m trying to figure out did he Did he he make this up? Who in the building would say that? Who in the building would know? Would somebody in the scouting department would say it? No way. Cuz they’re the ones that said get him. So it’s not Will Mcclelay’s office? Would it be the running back’s coach? I I wouldn’t think so. By the way, he just got here. I bunch of these guys, bunch of this coaching staff, they don’t know him. the most of this coaching staff right now is trying to figure out where they should rent their apartment. They don’t know. Then I went back and looked at our friend Dane Bugler and the beast in the athletic. This this he puts this out of course before the draft in April. Steve from Texas. If anybody can get to the bottom of this, it’s fish. Watch me. At the bottom of Dane Brugler’s report, the very bottom, it’s it’s lengthy. It’s a scouting report. The very last line says, “Blue will need to convince NFL teams that he has the desire and the work ethic to maximize his talent. It’s not the same as saying he’s lazy, but that’s Dane Bugler. That’s a very thoughtful analysis. And I I trust Dne implicitly. Okay. He got that DNE got that from somewhere probably from people in Texas saying and what DNE’s saying is for him to be as great as he is physically capable of being he’s going to have to crank it up in terms of desire and work ethic. I wonder if that’s where it came from. I wonder if this source on the podcast didn’t really get it from anybody in the building, which was my first assumption. I wonder if the guy on the podcast got it from just reading old scouting reports from months ago and decided to roll with it. And if that’s the case, that’s a shame because Dane Bubler didn’t say that he’s lazy. He said that he’s got to up his work ethic to maximize his talent. A completely different thing. Lazy is is a is a incredibly incendiary word. It paints a picture of a guy. It’s and it’s going to be stuck in your head. Now, unless Blue’s words, my other sources words and my other sources words stick in your head better. Blues words, they’re making stuff up about me. Source number one, they were allowed to leave. They don’t have to be in the building. It’s okay. And source number two from inside the building. None of us know him well enough to be able to say that. He just got here and so did we. Um, Uncle Fish called the running back’s coach at UT. It just so happens that we happen to know him and that is on my late that is on my hot list. Uh, Kenneth Easley, I wonder if this is like when Shotti said Dak is in development. He’s developmental and that got all twisted around. I think it’s that now the Dak in development thing got twisted around on purpose. Was this that did Stretch exaggerate here on purpose? Did he You know, again, I’m trying to cut him some slack. I think he got I I think he got overzealous with a little thought that he decided a little molehill written months ago and he’s decided to turn into a mountain. I’m going to get some of your comments here. Get in, get on, be good on this subject. Carrie C, Uncle Fish Premium, if he’s lazy, he won’t last in the NFL. What a great point that is. If you don’t love it, you won’t last. If you’re lazy, unless you’re incredibly gifted, and he’s a fifth round pick. So, he’s not incredibly gifted, not at that level, you won’t make it. So, the the proof will be in the pudding. And I don’t think it’ll take that much time. I think we’re I think everybody’s going to get to know each other at training camp. other players. If he’s if he if player X, forget poor Jay on Blue who’s getting beaten up here for what I can’t find to be a very good reason. Player X, if he doesn’t if he’s not doing the work, guys like me are going to find out about it and other guys on the team are going to talk about it in an effort to fix it. Steven White, Stretch has insiders. The more I think on this and the more I talk on this and I wrote about it at cowboyscountry.com, the more I think it might have just come from Dne because I’m struggling. I’ve only called two guys in the building. I’m not going to call 40. I’m struggling to figure out who in the building says this. Feels qualified to say this. Mike Parish, I just trust Uncle Uncle Fish. That’s good enough for me. Me, too. Chris Newman, I think the content creators are getting desperate. But why? Stephen Arthur, Uncle Fish, what’s going to happen to Kavante Turpin? You think he’ll be suspended during the season? Article 46 gives the commissioner the unilateral authority. He can suspend he, and I’m not exaggerating, the player could fight it. He could take Cavante Turpin, who had two misdemeanors, and suspend him for life. And I’m not kidding. He could go to Rasheed Rice, who almost killed 13 people, didn’t and not punish him. That’s the authority that the commissioner has, which is yet another reason why I make uh relentless fun of the NFL PA, which by the way, NFL PA today. More stuff coming out uh on this guy who the players didn’t know, have any idea what they were getting into on the new NFLPA director who now there’s records showing that he had he frequents strip clubs and bills the union. He goes to the ATM, gets out $2,500 and bills the NFL PA so he can go to the strip club. What a dirt bag organization the NFL PA is. And it’s not cuz the players cuz the players are dirt bags. It’s because the players are ignorant. They don’t know. They don’t care. I I’ve seen a bunch of people on Twitter, reporters on Twitter. Here I go again talking bad about reporters, which I guess this entire show is about media. Oh, the players are going to get this right. This No, they won’t. They don’t care. If they cared, if the players really cared, they’d go on strike and fix everything. But they realize they have about a four-year window to make money, to make any sort of money. If they go on strike for two years, they’ll lose their window. They’ll never play football again. I know, but it’ll be good for the next generation coming up. They don’t care. Why don’t we elect Why don’t we really get together and elect somebody that really know? Because they don’t care. Guys, I’ve been semi-witness to the players union meetings with football teams. Guys don’t show up. You think they have 53 guys show up to these meetings? They have five guys show up to the meetings. This team almost elected David Irving as their player rep just as a joke. So, congratulations NFL PA. You’re screwing your own union bodies once again. Uh Phil had something to say. Dog gone it, Phil. I think I lost you. Uh Santies, you got to keep that stress down and going to the strip club’s help. Okay. But you don’t get to bill the players union because because you want to go get a lap dance. Um the uh the digs people are calling it a fine. It’s $500,000. It’s a deescalator clause written into his contract, written into almost all their contracts. You need to participate in 84% of the offseason work. If you don’t do so, a percentage of your salary is lost to you. So, it’s not a fine. It’s not really a punishment. And uh Trayvon Digs must not care because he’s out $500,000. Rick C, where did all these reports come from? I’ll close with this. This is why the Cowboys are different than the Bills or the Seahawks or the Cardinals. This is one of the reasons they’re different. There aren’t, you know how many Seattle, you know how many Seahawks beat writers there are? How many people think of themselves? I I cover the Seahawks. I don’t know, seven. They don’t have a Jane Slater in Seattle. They don’t have an Edward in Seattle. Ian Rapaort, I’m not saying he doesn’t do great work or Tom Pelisero or uh you know when there’s a Seahawk story big big but they don’t think of themselves as we’re on the Seahawks beat or the Cardinals beat or the Chargers beat. Ian Rapford is on the Cowboys beat 31 teams and the Cowboys. Pelisero 31 teams and the Cowboys. Rich Eisen, 31 teams and the Cowboys. ESPN 31 teams and Stephen A. Smith. That’s the difference. And so where do all these wacky, ridiculous, sideways, horseshit stories come from? They come from in part the fact that while the Seahawks have seven beat writers generating stuff and the Cardinals have five beat writers generating stuff and the Buccaneers have four beat writers. Listen, but when a Buccaneers when there’s a big Buccaneer story, I always know it’s there’s like one guy. One guy at the Tampa Bay newspaper always breaks it because there’s only one guy Cowboys content. 70,000 people either are, think they are, or pretend to be Cowboys beat writers. That’s where this horse spit comes from. Have a lovely Friday uh with your lovely loved ones. Um when something pops, we’ll pop with it over the course of the weekend, both here on the Fisher Report and at cowboyscountry.com. And then Monday, right out we go out the dough. Out the dough to Oxnard. So come with us to Oxnard. And um we will be what? Monday. Well, yeah. Uh but we will be straight dope. No bullsh from Oxnard, California as we have been for decades. Fish out.

  1. I love how you are always dismissive of things then the thing is revealed to be a real issue. They had OTAs. They've been in the building. You can see how motivated a person is or not. That can be in any work place. Maybe somebody calling it out can be motivation. Maybe he doesn't know what takes to be a professional and need to be shown.

  2. Blue’s running back coach was former Cowboys rb Tashard Choice. Choice is now with the Detroit Lions as a rb coach. Blue will be fine and will make some plays that help them win.

  3. I judge players based on what I see, not what someone else tells me. More than half the time, it’s just hype until they actually hit the field. Now, I’ll always pay attention to what Fish says — and that’s because he’s earned that trust. There aren’t many people I take at their word, but Fish is one of ‘em. Same goes for Sugar. They don’t make folks like those two anymore — real, down-to-earth, and solid as they come. So when Fish says something, it’s worth listening. He might not be right every time — nobody is — but I’ll take Fish’s 98% over the rest of the noise out there, any day. 🙂👍

  4. Good evening Fish. I don't know if you know but a lot of information the fans get about the Cowboys or any team that's on Facebook is shared posts from you and other Cowboys podcasters. So to tell a fan to not listen or pay attention to Facebook isn't a good thing. Sharing is caring. 😊 Now if it's coming from people that's making up stuff that's different. Have a blessed and wonderful evening and a wonderful night. DC4L. Go Cowboys. 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

  5. Man, you content creators are soo thirsty nowadays! Glad training camp is next week so you can have something worth while to report. Imma stop watching till Tuesday. SMH

  6. Fish have you thought that stretch or who ever this clown is that's giving you this bunk info might be upset cause he doesn't have a job with the boys..you starting to be a bottom feeder more like a cat fish instead of fish..

  7. All blown out of proportion. Pre draft he wasn’t going to be one of the workhorse top 3-4 backs. So OF COURSE he will have to work hard and prove himself. Same as every other guy drafted regardless of round !
