  1. Durant over Duncan interesting. Hakeem over whoever I kind of agree with. Him and Kareem are the best overall center. You take Shaq over them offensively. Maybe you take Russell or Wilt over him defensively. At the end of the day you want someone to be able to play both sides of the court. Hakeem’s game translate a bit better than Kareem’s most likely. He can guard quicker forwards and centers.

  2. Who else would maybe replace KD? The others seem like locks and KD is versatile… but there’s gotta be someone that isn’t needing the ball as much to make huge impacts

  3. Shit that’s pretty good. What other 5 in history would be able to beat that line up?

  4. I would replace kd with kawhi. I think the extra defense along with mj, like how mj pip chemistry showed, is a winning combo. I lose on the shotmaking yes, but mj, kawhi and hakeem are a terrifying enough defense combo to make that moot. When lebron is motivated, he too can lock down anyone or provide amazing help and clutch defense, so i think that will win me the game. Any way with so many other shot makers i don’t need to stress on shot making any more. I need a lockdown d.

  5. Knows ball better than everyone on ESPN lol. I agree that’s probably the best 5 man team possible. I think kd is a good pick and also super unselfish. The spacing makes a bit more sense than Timmy imo

  6. Steph, Jordan, Durant, LeBron, Hakeem honestly is a pretty good lineup that’s hard to disagree with outside of preference

  7. The fun thing about this thought experiment is that it exposes how classified position and actual position don’t match because really LeBron is the 1, Curry is the 2, and Jordan is the 3

ETA: This is my lineup as well, and the only change I might make is KD for a defensive monster with a middie that doesn’t strictly need the ball along the lines of Spurs Kawhi

  8. Two of those guys were on the same team.. next to a DPOY and an all defensive wing who was also the greatest spot up shooter ever. Lmao

  9. This is my all time starting 5 too. People might quibble with the KD pick but his one-on-one scoring is just too good.

  10. I have a wild card team here, just having fun with, Steph, khawi, pippen, Rodman, jokic

  11. Legit my all time starting five matching exactly.

Bird / Durant was the toughest decision

  12. Great pull on Hakeem. I wasn’t expecting KD but I’m not mad at all. He’s my favorite SF all time.

  13. Man knows more about basketball than some of the people on sports media shows.

That’s a good 5… I think Duncan would be a good change but KD would space the floor better for Hakeem, Jordan and MJ.

This is the best starting 5 I’ve heard someone pick.

  14. here’s my five to counter your five.

    Magic PG —-guarding Lebron

    Steph SG —guarding steph

    Lebron PF —-guarding KD

    Jordan SF —-guarding Jordan

    David Robinson C —-guarding Hakeem

This is my lineup to counter that lineup by Barry. they are not neccesarily the best players of all time

  15. Bro you can say drone strikes Yada Yada ya but Obama was the last president who was a relatively good person and genuinely tried to unite the country. There are certain moral difficulties that come with the office but he did the best he could to have integrity and help the country.

I don’t give a fuck about being political but trumps main goal is to help rich Americans and rich Russians and rich Saudis and rich

  16. My “peak entertainment top five” is:

    PG: Steph
    SG: Reggie Miller
    SF: Bird
    PF: Lebron
    C: Jokic

I love passing and and ball movement, obviously. Lebron, Steph and Jokic were easy picks. Bird not quite so easy, but not hard either.

Not Jordan and Kobe, because remember, this is about my entertainment preferences and I want a shorter/ball mover who’s going to complement Lebron/Steph/Jokic.

Maybe Klay Thompson, Ray Allen or Kawhi (defense) would be better choices?

  17. I was like hes gonna say KD last isnt he? The surprise 😂

Love KD man. Wish he was able to get 2 more rings (last year with GSW and Nets-Bucks year)

  18. Completely ignoring politics, Obama was such a chill, man of the people, President. Love that he does stuff like this. More examples are his March Madness brackets and lists of his favorite books, movies, shows, songs he does every year. Not to mention to numerous times he has played pickup. I don’t remember a president who has done stuff like this. He’s just so chill

  19. It’s a great list and his explanation of WHY he picked these guys makes sense. He didn’t just randomly pick guys and he actually put some thought behind it.

  20. Fair list. I think Hakeem is a great option for these all-time teams because adding a more dominant scorer like Shaq forgets that there’s only basketball.

Personally, if we are playing in the modern era, I’d sub Durant for KG. With MJ and Lebron, I have plenty of mid range. Give me another dominant defensive player that is super switchable and can still knock down open shots.

  21. I love it when politicians answer these kind of questions but they actually know what they’re talking about.

Like any President or Prime Minister could name 3 footballers or basketball players or whatever, but Obama has actually thought through the tactics

  22. Obama mentioned Hakeem, this president knows ball. He knows hoops, he knows buckets and budgets

  23. This man’s got one of the highest k/d ratios in human history and he’s got decent basketball takes. What can’t he do?

  24. My top 5, Jokic, KG, Lebron, MJ, Gary Payton. You have balanced scoring, great defense, and a spread floor. Also tons of heart, intelligence, and athleticism.

  25. I like this starting 5. Yes kd isn’t a top 10 all time but the perfect player for a overpowered team because he doesn’t need the ball that much to score efficiently

  26. Hakeem the right pick for the 5, better defensively than Shaq and you don’t really need any more scoring given the other 4 players. Also won’t get hacked

  27. I would’ve put Bird over KD just because of teamplay, defense, sacrifice, clutchness, overall smarts, mental toughness

Not sure KD would find himself playing alongside such insane egos and stubbornly great player. Maybe, or maybe he would kind of just withdraw. Bird would elevate that team for sure.

But if you want truly unbeatable you put Russell at the 4

  28. A front court with Duncan and Shaq would crush them. Pick three good others and have at it

  29. I still remember when he went up to the booth at a White Sox game, who he’s supposedly a fan of, and the guys asked him to name some of his favorite white Sox legends and he couldn’t name a single player and started talking about guys on the Cubs.
