And we’re going to start by going to this match up between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals from Chase Field. For the Diamondbacks, you got Mel Kelly listed as the starter in this one, while the Cardinals will counter with Miles Michaels. And you know, Michael pitched well in his last start. Five and two/3 innings of two hit shutout baseball, six strikeouts, but that was at home. And you know, while Michael historically has had issues pitching at Bush Stadium and uh you know, he’s had his fair share of concerns at times this season, he’s pitched better there this year at home. a 4.19 ERA, 226 opponent’s batting average, not terrible, but on the road, a 5.58 RA, a .301 opponent’s batting average, and when you look at the extra base hits, granted, he has made two more starts on the road this season. But you’re looking at totals of 26 extra base hits, including 10 home runs on the road, compared to 13 extra base hits and five home runs at home. half of the amount of extra base hits and home runs given up on on home soil this season. He’s been less effective on the road. And I think this is another situation where we’re going to see more of the same here. The Cardinals in the month of July against right-handed pitching, you know, have been decent, but not anything to write home about. Hitting 252. The team OPS numbers are, you know, below league average. But, you know, a lot of those games came at home when they were at, you know, where they played their better baseball. The Arizona Diamondbacks for me this season have been a much stronger team against right-handed pitching. Arguably one of the best lineups. The batting average isn’t spectacular, but their team OPS numbers are just outside the top 10. Their isolated power numbers are, you know, just outside the top 10 as well. They have a really solid babip of 291. And I think they can get to Miles Michael for a few runs here. You know, be able to get to him, get those extra base hits, and really, you know, do some damage early and often. I mean, Michael’s last two road starts. He’s allowed to combine 14 runs on 17 hits over 10 innings of work and a combined eight home runs in those starts. I mean, he got shelled for six homers against the Chicago Cubs in one start. And I’m concerned here as well just with how hitter friendly Chasefield has had a history of being. Mel Kelly on the other side now. He’s coming off a back-to-back strong road starts. Hasn’t been as sharp at home. I mean, he’s given up a combined 10 earned runs in his last three home starts over 16 innings of work. But I think that Mel Kelly is still the better option here. As much as I don’t want to buy into the Arizona Diamondbacks and that bullpen, it’s still been good enough to where I think that, you know, the bullpen can hold it down for Arizona in the month of July. They have a 2.63 staff erra out of the pen while the Cardinals bullpen erra at 450. I think that the Diamondbacks get done here. It’s a reasonable price.
