MLB LIVE🔴 Pittsburgh Pirates vs Chicago White Sox – Jul 20, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
Just about to get started. And on the mound now, Mitch Keller and Singi. We were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots. I’ve just been so impressed with when it seems like there’s more pressure, he’s more calm and settles in. He’s done an incredible job with runners in scoring position. And most guys, they get a little tight, they start to aim the baseball, but for some reason he gets looser. The ball comes out of his hand with more life and he’s able to wiggle off the hook of, you know, tough situations and get his team back in the dugout. Swaying and a ball popped up. Gonzalez grabs it on the run. Time to check out the lineup for the White Socks. And so far this year, this has not been a very good offense. Well, in this day and age, if you can’t slug and get on base, that OPS has to be at a certain level. If you’re going to produce runs, give your pitchers an opportunity as they’re facing tough offenses as well. Austin Slater stands in. And that’s off the outside edge. And that is ball one. One down. Base is empty. Swings through the fast ball up in the zone. One ball, two strikes. Battling here as he fouls it away. One out. Base is empty. Next pitch is outside. Two balls, two strikes. On the ground, right side, fires over to first. Quick start to this afternoon’s action. Two gone. That’s what a good sinker is designed to do. Get a guy to roll over a little bit. Hit the ball on the ground. Kill some worms while you’re at it. Two out. Space is empty. And now Edgar Caro. Swinging a foul back. That’s out of play. The next pitch misses and the count is one and one. One ball, one strike, two and they’ll do it again. Two out, space is empty. ball out to center. Sinsky brings it in and that is that half incomplete. We’ve got no score. And we’re back. And today’s starting pitcher, Aaron Cavali. And Chris, pitching on the road has not been particularly kind to him. Yeah. And you don’t want to be too quick to say that he can’t pitch on the road. Sometimes, you know, it’s just a matter of luck. It’s not having a feel difference between the bullpen mound to the mound out there on the playing field. Don’t know what it is, but I know this. He’s got good enough stuff to overcome and get it done on the road as well as at home. So, we’ll see what he’s able to do in this one. Spencer Horowitz leading things off and takes the strike. Swings through that one for strike two. Gosh, a little late on that breaking ball. I don’t think he recognized it out of the hand. Just a little tardy. Going to have to regroup here. And it’s even up. Two two stays alive. Hats and misses. It’s a strikeout. Here’s McCutchen. And takes low for ball one. That clips the corner. Foul ball. hits softly on the ground to third and McCutchen is out. There’s a Pirates line up now. This group was shut out their last game. So, we’re going to see if they can bounce back with a better effort here today. And Boo, it can get in your head a little bit when you get shut out. You’re frustrated. You’re seeing that consecutive streak of innings you haven’t scored. And you want to get off to a great start. score early because if you don’t, you feel like it could linger into two consecutive games which no one wants to be a part of. Yeah, that’s fouled off the pitch and that misses. One ball, one strike. One Two down to and that skips in the dirt. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. Two outs. He goes down looking and one, two, three go the Pirates. Scoreless after one. And welcome back to the ballpark. And here is Lennosa. Lennosa Keller back to work. And that’s downstairs. And that’s ball one. Fast ball for a strike. Late with the swing there. two on the ground. Gonzalez on first and quickly one away in the second. Batty fifth. the designated hitter, Andrew. And in Tandy up here, Pirates. And that drops in for a strike. Keller, not a big strikeout guy, but still very effective as far as starting pitchers go. one of those guys that involves the defense and really gets him involved in the action. That’s towards center. Sinsky settles under it. Carous out number two. He moves the ball around all the quadrants of the strike zone and will add and subtract velocity and because of that he gets the weak contact. It’s all about missing the barrel of the bat. It seems like this type of guy is kind of a dying breed nowadays. Well, exactly. When teams are looking for high velocity, high strikeout rates, guy like this doesn’t necessarily do that. So, in order to really appreciate how good he is, you have to see him because if you’re just looking at a stat sheet, you might overlook him. Foul ball there. fouls it off. Still one and two. And that’s downstairs and outside. Two balls, two strikes. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. And good work there as he gets a one, two, three. Nothing doing for the offense that time. Now to the bottom of the second. No score. Back here at PNC Park. And stepping in is the speedy Nick Gonzalez. Nick Gonzalez and a foul ball. Pitch misses there and a count even one and one. The 1-1 is fouled off and a swing and a miss. Down on strikes and he’s registered three Ks in this one. Finished him off by blowing it by him up high. But they did a really nice job of setting that pitch up. The plan of attack early on was to keep everything down around the knees. So that was a good call to change his eye level and run it by him for the K. Here’s Tommy Fam. Edge of the zone for a strike. One and one. No balls. One strike. That one fouled off. One, two. Nothing. Nothing here in the bottom of the second. Ball 22 and a foul ball. He stays alive. just off the outside edge. Really good take, especially with two strikes. And he walked him. And that’s how they get their first base runner of the game. What a battle. It’s not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch. And I tell you what, he earned that walk. Jack Sinski getting ready to hit. off the mark there. Ball one two in the dirt. man at first. One away. Looked pretty good as far as being in the strike zone, but I’m sure as a hitter not too good with where it was located. Very top of the strike zone. Middle away. Right through there for a strike. Two balls, two strikes. Still two and two after the foul ball. Fam the runner at first with one gone in the inning. Full count in the dirt. Fights it off. You’ll see another line drive coming on Robert and he’s there. Batting seven, third baseman Key Brian Hayes. Now batting Key Brian Hayes singing he’s never finished the season with more stolen bases in his entire career. Tapped at the plate, but it’s a foul ball. Swing and a miss as he was out front. 02 Next offering upstairs. One ball, two strikes. Swinging a ground ball and that will end the inning. So one left for Pittsburgh. We’ll move to the third with no score. New inning getting started. And here’s the first baseman, Miguel Vargas. Let’s go. Vargas measures 6’2 in, 25 years old, and they went out and made a trade for him last season. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Out to short. Connor Falefa throws to first in time. Leadoff man retired here in the third. Batting eight, third baseman Coulson Montgomery. So up next, Coulson Montgomery. Popped in the air. left field coming on his fam to make the play. Two down. Batting night leftielder Michael A. Taylor. Here’s the left fielder Michael A. Taylor. Pirates. Right through there for a strike. This guy is just filling up the strike zone right now. Don’t want to get yourself in an 02 hole. You better be ready to pull the trigger on the first pitch. Chopped left side and foul ball. 0 and two now. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. O2 fast ball way out of the zone. I think he’s trying to speed him up. Got to stay back. Off speed’s probably coming. Foul ball. Still a one and two count. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. That’s a little high. Now two and two. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. Two down. Doon. This to third. Hayes whips it to first. That’s an out. Third out. Nine straight retired here to start the game. We’re tied nothing. Nothing. Bottom of the inning. And here’s the catcher, Henry Davis. Henry Davis. That one hit to right. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. And a quick out number one. Batting night. The shorts stop. Isaiah. Here is Isaiah Ker. Falefa. Seems like he’s making contact with everything lately. Can make it a fivegame hitting streak with a knock in this one. And that one is in the dirt. Ball one. Still tied at zero. Last of the third. So, two balls and no strikes. Two balls, no strikes. Swing and a ball drilled in the air towards right center field. He’s got it. And there’s two away. Up next for the Pirates. first baseman. So, next to the plate for Pittsburgh, Spencer Horowitz. Hard ground ball base. Zoe gets on base and keeps it going. Here’s Andrew McCutchen to hit. 0 for one so far. that misses the zone and it’s one and0. Come on, Andy. Hammers that one deep left field and forget it. He flexes his power with that swing. It’s two nothing. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devour that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after bat. He’s that confident. Let’s break out the statcast numbers. It’s singing. It tells us this home run was projected at more than 450 ft. Yeah. And not many players can hit home runs as far as this one. That’s a special feeling. And I’m sure he was giggling a little bit as he was jogging around the bases. That was one heck of a swing he put on the baseball. B coming to the plate now. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Base is empty, two away, but two runs are in here in the last half of the third. In there for a strike at the top of the zone. Late that time and it’s strike two. One, two. ripped to third but handled and that’ll end the inning. Another look at this two-run homer for Pittsburgh and it’s two zip. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Back here in Pittsburgh all set for the start of the inning. Stepping in the White Sox lead off man Chase Maid. And that is out of play. Well, after putting up a nice inning on offense, got some runs across. This is where you look for the starter to go out there, have a shutdown inning. Don’t give that other team any hope. Uh you just hope that he can get through this inning, get the bats back up there while they’re hot. Field two. The short stop takes the ball. swings through it and that’s a strike out. He’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field. He was out in front there. Just needs to let the ball travel a little more and his timing will be back on track. Good pitch for the strikeout. Now it’s the right fielder Austin Slater. He’s 0 for one. Ground ball left side and that’s just fouled. The White Socks hitless so far in the game and there’s a foul ball hit on the ground to short. Connor Falefa in plenty of time to first two quick outs here in the top of the board. Oh, he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air. lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball. Good execution. Two down, base is empty. Next to hit, Edgar Carol 0 for one with a fly out to center. And that’s in the dirt. Pitch is in there and it’s one and one. Two down, nobody on. Top half of inning number four. That misses the zone. And that’s ball two. Two. Knocks that one away. And we’ll do it again. Two outs. And that just misses count to third. Hayes sends it to first and he has thrown four shut out innings. So 12 up, 12 down to begin the ball game. It’s the Pirates two and the White Socks nothing. And we’re back. John Chavei and Chris Singleton with you. And leading off the bottom of the fourth, Nick Gonzalez. Nick Gonzalez. that misses one and0. You know, these Pirates do a great job, Boo, of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way. And I’m seeing very patient at bats out of them. They’re doing a good job of working the pitch count, and they’ve been able to push a couple of runs across to score as well. Still relatively early, but with a pair of runs already on the board, the ripple effect of that high pitch count might set him up to do more damage later in this game. Blows the high heat past him. That’s a strike out. Now batting. Digging in. Tommy Fan. He reached on a walk his first time. Yeah, up and in. And that is ball one. And another ball. Two to count up the middle now. The throw to first on the run. It’s there. And that’s a great play. I’m impressed with this guy’s internal clock. He knew he had plenty of time to take that extra step, secure his grip on the baseball, and make a strong, accurate throw. Two outs, space is empty. And now the center fielder, Jack Sinski, one hammered, but pulled foul. next offering is fouled back. Here’s the O2 and it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Also really good at bat. What I like about this guy, his bat stays in the zone for a long time. Gives him the ability to foul off tough pitches. That misses. Going to count one and two. Oh, two curve right there. Hitter kind of expects that. And good job of just showing that confidence and trying to get back into this count. Two down. Nobody on. That one is absolutely belted. That’s back. He hits the wall and hangs on. Great catch. Oh man, amazing catch to end the inning. As a former outfielder, I’m feeling proud right now. Saw the wall, didn’t get afraid, held on to the ball. And welcome back to the ballpark. And here is Sosa to the plate. Keller back to work. And that one upstairs. Ball one. You know, these White Socks just aren’t putting together very many good at bats in this one. We’re in the back half of the game and they’re still searching for a base runner. He’s been great out there on the mound, no doubt. But it’s also been a disappointing performance at the plate to this point. That one missed. And as we get deeper, it’s not going to get any easier. These at bats are going to feel more and more desperate with every out the rest of the way. There’s the swinging a miss. SA tries to hold up. Appeal to first. No swing. This one in the air center field. Sinsky gets under it. Puts it away for the owl. And there’s one down. Now batting the designated hitter to the plate fly to center his first time. Come on Pirates, you can do it. Swing and a fly ball. Well struck left field coming on his fam to make the play and there are two outs. Those can be pretty fun as an outfielder. Got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. And first off is fouled off. Oh, I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning, anything after that, a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. The White Socks trailing by two and we’re at the top of the fifth. Swing and a miss. Now, this offense has just been locked down. Almost five full innings of shutout baseball, two outs. Cia strikes him out for the second time today. One, two, three go to White Socks and they’re down two nothing. Back here at PNC Park, here’s the third baseman, Kean Hayes. Taking high in the draft. He’s had that top prospect label over him since he put on a professional uniform. But at some point, that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level. Line to left. Taylor makes the grab. One down. Now batting catcher Henry Davis. And now the catcher comes up to him. Henry Davis. in a line drive and a base hit to right field. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Well, a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. Isaiah Connor Falefa up to the plate. Fly to center his first time. He’s 0 for one. with a short stop. Takes the ball. 10. The other way and no one can get there. They fired in quickly. So, it’s first and second with only one away. Two consecutive base hits for these guys here. Showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way. Didn’t get jumpy. Didn’t try to pull the ball. He let it get deep. Took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit. And now the first baseman, Spencer Horowitz. That pitch in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. Davis over at second. Connor Falefa at first. One gone. No activity in the pen for the White Sox. Jonathan Cannon appears to be getting loose. Alexander getting loose as well. Just off the inside edge. Could be some action here on this next pitch. Couple runners on. Probably a challenge pitch coming. Fouls one off. Two and two. Runners at first and second with one gone. Last half of inning number five. Tried to check his swing there. Appeal to third. No swing. Earl Hendricks with the call. swing and a miss. Struck him out. Good late cut for the strike out there. That thing really got in on him. And you know, the cutter isn’t really a huge swinging miss pitch most of the time because it’s not really meant to move a whole lot. You’re just trying to miss the big part of the barrel and maybe get some weak contact. But that one right there did a whole lot more than that. That was a really good pitch. And now it’s Andrew McCutchen. He’s already homered here in this one. And a foul ball. Two outs. Couple of base runners at first and second. Outside low. And now it’s even one and one. Late swing fouled off. Do it again. All right, Pirates out to short my draw. They take the force out and the inning is over. Pirates strand a couple. They’re up two nothing back here in Pittsburgh. And here’s the first baseman, Miguel Vargas. Vargas. Ground ball scooped up. Key Brian Hayes. Hayes to first. One up, one down. Now batting third baseman, Coulson Montgomery. Now the third baseman, Coulson Montgomery. fly to left his first time. The offense needs to start showing some fight against this starter. He’s doing his thing out there. They’re going to have to push back at some point and make him work a little bit harder. Right through there for a strike. Well, we call that keyholeing. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. Hit on the ground and it gets through. Just like that, the perfect game is gone. Runner on at first with one gone. And up next for Chicago, Michael A. Taylor delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. Now, these guys definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here. Try to close that gap. But, you know, at the very least, if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first, it feels like it’s really important to getting back into this ball game. On the ground to the left and it goes just foul. Swing and a miss. Got him to go up the ladder for the K. Oh, there’s a three pitch strike out. He can do whatever he wants with the baseball right now. Short stop. My draw. Back to the top of the lineup. Chase Maidra steps to the plate for the White Socks. Pitch misses there and that’s ball one. One ball, no strike with the tying run at the plate. And we’re the top half of the sixth. Keller throws over and he’s back in on a dive. Off the mark there. And that’s ball two. Fouled off down the right side. ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. Throw stops the lead runner at second. Two on and two out. Oh, that was one of those high percentage advantage counts where batting averages are just so much higher. Just kept it simple. Played Pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from and there was just no one there to knock it down. First and second, two outs. Now the number two hitter, Austin Slater. Next off in there for a strike and it’s 0 and two. Perhaps not quite ready to hit. First two pitches by him for a couple of strikes. Now back is against the wall. Going to have to figure something out and figure it out quickly. Grounds one to short. Conor Fa got him on the offbalance throw. That’s out number three. Another inning in the books for the perfect game. Couldn’t survive it. It’s the Pirates two and the White Socks nothing. Back now for the bottom of the sixth. And there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Jonathan Cannon. Jonathan. Well, he struggled quite a bit. So, this is another opportunity to get on the right track. He’s given up more than one hit per inning pitch so far this season. Ryan Reynolds here for two in this one. Right fielder Ryan Reynolds swanging a ball lifted in the air. Robert hustling after it. Got it. covered plenty of distance there and there’s one down. That’s just a really nice catch on the run right there. He saved extra bases for sure. If the pitcher’s his friend, he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch. Fought off foul. Can the tall righty 24 years old and he was a third round pick in 2022. in the air out towards right center. Robert on the move and there’s two away. Now batting left fielder Tommy two down base is empty. Tommy Fan will hit next. First pitch just misses. Good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. Late on that fast ball. Definitely not a pitch location you’re expecting up there as a hitter when you know the guy’s got a good sinker ball. If he can get in that location, boy, you’ve got to look top to bottom and that’s going to make it very difficult to hit. And that’s in the dirt. And the count is three and one. Last couple of pitches breaking balls away. I think he’s going to have to come firm inside to be able to open up that location if he wants to go back there later in this count. Line drive and that’s down. A base hit and that keeps the inning going. Now batting seven. Here’s the center fielder Jack Sinski. Sinski. Pirates. Smoked on the ground to second. Throws to first in time. And that ends the inning. Pirates leave one as they’re unable to add to their two nothing lead. We go to the top of the seventh. Now it’s the White Sox catcher Edgar Caro. The pitch that one inside and that’s ball one. Action in the pen down there. Caleb Ferguson loosening up in case he’s called upon by Derek Shelton. Cabrera getting cranked up as well. And that skips in the dirt. Swinging a foul back. That’s out of play. The count two and one line drive and a base hit right there and that’ll bring the tying run to the plate. Now batting second base. Now it’s going to be Lennin Sosa. And that one a little below the knees. Ball one. The tying run at the plate. Fouled off. He was late. Here’s a 1-1. And the sweeper misses for a ball. Way to lay off that pitch down. right through there for a strike. The two strikes may see some movement over there at first base. Trying to stay out of the double play right here with the tying run at the plate here in the top half of inning number seven. Swings and hits one in the air out towards right field. Little trouble here. puts it away for the out. And there’s one away. Now that is designated hitter Andrew Benendi. Andrew Benendi steps up. Definitely wants to stay out of the double play here. Ball on the ground in the infield. Should be an inning ending double play. That one finds the corner. Going to one. Carol leads off first with one away and that one fouled off. The O2 just misses there. Homeplayed umpires try to tighten things up a little bit. Next offering upstairs. Struck him out looking. Luis Robert now 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. Luis Robert Jr. First pitch doesn’t find the zone and that one clips the corner. Well, this looks like it’s going to be a wasted opportunity. It’s frustrating when you get the leadoff man on, but you can’t get him into scoring position. They’re going to need a big knock trying to put something up on the board. Swing and a miss. And he got him to chase. This guy’s got such a good sinker. As a hitter, you’ve got to look up in the zone. If you look down, you’re going to be chasing stuff in the dirt. Swing and this one’s bounced on the ground. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. So, one left for the White Socks. They trail things here. Two nothing. And we’re back leading off with KBrian Hayes. Third base Hayes and a pitch. Clips the corner. That’s strike one. You know, these Pirates digging into their numbers have to be happy with the swings they’re taking. They’ve hit seven line drives already and even though some of them have been for outs, there’s nothing wrong with delivering consistent hard contact. That’s almost always going to lead to positive results. Just pull off of it a little bit right there. That front shoulder coming open instead of staying closed. If he does that, he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left. That’s a strike. Base is empty, one away here in the bottom of the seventh. And that’s outside. One ball, two strikes. That one misses. It’s two and two. That’s a ball. Tried to sweep her. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Come on, Pirates. And he can’t come up with it. But he wins the foot race to first. Good job of knowing how much time he had there. Now batting shortstop Isaiah Kinder Falefa. Two out. Space is empty. Here’s the shortstop at the plate. Isaiah Ker Falefa one for two. Just missed. 10. There’s the strike. The 1-1 is fouled off. It’s been a solid inning so far in relief. Getting them through this inning only down two could give their lineup a real opportunity to just grind their way back into this game with the few outs that they have left. Caught him looking for the K. Nothing doing here for Pittsburgh, but they’re on top two nothing. Pirates with a new arm on the mound. Caleb Ferguson. Well, the best relievers love the opportunity to come in and protect the tight lead in the ball game. Some of them are just wired different. So, we’ll see what he’s got here. And now the first baseman, Miguel Vargas, has grounded out a couple of times. Pirates. That one misses and it’s one and0. It’s getting squeezed a little bit here late. And now two and two. Fast ball is outside. Strike him out. Fouls it back with two strikes. Goes down looking. out for the White Cops. And here is Coulson Montgomery. That one pushed foul out of play off to the left. Come on. Close but called a ball and one and one. Let’s go. Swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. Well, in this one, the offense has sputtered. Somebody’s got to find a way to get on, keep the line moving, and manufacture at least one run. Then maybe you get two or three. One down, base is empty. And the one, two misses to even the count. Swinging a highf fly ball out there towards left field and puts the squeeze on that one. Two down. Now batting left fielder Michael A. Taylor. And the batter now Michael A. Taylor struck out on just three pitches last time. Swinging a foul out of play. Two down to swing and a miss. 0 and two. Well, as good as things can be, it can be a tough day at the office, even for the skippers, seeing the offense just sputter. Not able to get anything going. Good job to fight that one off. Looking very settled on the mound here in the eighth. One more out. They’ll probably hand it off to their closer for the ninth with at least a two-run lead. Cuts and misses. It’s a strikeout. Down in order go to White Socks. Still down. It’s two zip. Bottom of the eighth at the plate. Spencer Horiz. First baseman. Spencer Horowitz. Cannon. Back to work. There’s a strike and he grounds one to the right side. Sosa tosses to first. One gone in the bottom of the eighth. Now batting the designated hitter, Andrew. And now Andrew McCutchen. He’s already homerred in this game. just missed. Close one. Doesn’t get the call. Ball two. And he takes a strike. Ripped to short and a couple of quick outs. Now batting right fielder Ryan Reynolds. Two down. Base is empty. Ryan Reynolds the next to hit. 0 for three in this one. First pitch misses. Two down, nobody on here. The bottom half of the eighth inning. And another ball. Two ball. No strike. That one finds the zone and a count. Two on one. No. 3-1 and a swing and a miss count. Ground ball right side and foul ball. That’s ripped base hit and that keeps the inning alive right there. He does a great job of staying in the big part of the field. Man, there are a lot of hits there. Second baseman, Nick Gonzalez, the next pirate to him. Gonzalez first offering and it just misses pickoff throw and he’s back in safely. Pitch misses. And the count now two of nothing. Reynolds leads off first with two down to the inning. Let’s go Pirates. Ball three. This one in the dirt. Here’s a three 0. That’s a strike. Right through there for a strike. Great RBI spot here. Just got to stay focused on the pitch. The runner will be in motion, so something in the gap should definitely score it. right side. Sosa tosses to first and that is that. So, one left for Pittsburgh, but they hold a two nothing lead. Now pitching back now. And on the mound, a closer Dennis Sant. Well, he’s the guy they hope to turn to out of the pin to lock down win. So, this game has gone the plan more or less. Let’s see if he can wrap it up here. Chase into center and a base hit. Just kind of sliced that one into center. That’s backto-back singles for him. You’ll often hear the phrase short to it, long through it. And that’s a great example of it right there. got the barrel in the hitting zone early, squared it up with the welltimed swing, and came away with a beautiful line drive into center field. Austin Slater steps to the plate for the White Socks. Late swing, fouled off. Tying run at the plate. No. 2-1 in the dirt but kept close. Runner holds. Count goes to two and one. Swing and a miss. And he was fooled. Wow. That’s 89 on the gun and it’s a change out. It’s like good hitting if you’re looking for it, but because of the speed differential between the fast ball and that pitch, really hard for a hitter to get on time with it. And there’s one down. Now, number seven. He’s two outs away. Edgar Carol steps to the plate for the White Socks. One for three. first pitch and he just misses. You see the velocity 97 with that fast swings and misses and it’s one and two. This guy’s sink has so much drop in it. It’s almost like a split finger fast ball. Instead of just weak contact and balls on the ground, he gets swings and misses. Over to Conor Ko and that’s a double play to end it. Way to make a pitch right there. Get that ball on the ground. Defense picking them off. Huge double play to end this ball game. Two nothing your final here in this one. For Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show, I’m John Shami. Thanks for joining us. What the heat?
