  1. Btw ben cherington traded quinn priester for nick yorke. Multiple years of cheap control of a pitcher who is playing like a number 3 for nothing essentially. Great job ben cherington!!!!

  2. Well there goes 2026 season. Is there any point to even go to a game next season?

  3. I’m not paying for a subscription to MLB tv then. I’ll catch highlights on YouTube.

  4. Of course anyone with connections is not under the impression he’ll be fired. No need to start spreading rumors & burn bridges. I’d take this with a grain of salt.

  5. I have no idea where Ben will be next year, but I do know that it’s not advantageous if every other team thinks Ben is going into the trade deadline having to make moves to save his job. There are a lot of reasons for someone in executive leadership to leak something like this to Gorman and Ben coming back next year is only one of them.

  6. Surely this means he’ll be gone before the game is over this afternoon right?

  7. I listen to the DK Pirate short podcasts every morning. He seems super confident Cherington is gone, and he does seem to be one of the only reporters that Nutting speaks to.

  8. I wish I could utterly suck at my job, make mistakes constantly, and ruin everything around me that’s related to my job yet keep that job for years. Must be nice.

  9. The thing is, you could argue in his favor that nutting doesn’t allow him the budget to spend like he should. And that probably is true. But that aside, he has still failed miserably in every other aspect. Hiring coaches and scouts. Drafting. Developing. Trading. His analytical team is a joke. Above all else, the team is a lot worse now than they were when he took over

  10. Haven’t believed in this team any season since they traded Cutch away long ago.

  11. I’ve sworn off the pirates 3 times in the past 5 years alone and can’t truly ever do it bc I’m such a yinzer in my heart.

But this is a new low, there’s been like 5 new lows this year. As a pirates fan we’ve seen arguably worse shit then browns fans but i am shocked at how i can still be surprised at them being so stupid

  12. I can see it now all the other teams front offices and owners laughing at how Bob nutting can sit there and watch the white Sox put up runs of 10, 10, and 7 (and counting) without making some kind of change. Especially right after the all-star break.

  13. The rebuild’s not over so there’s no need to fire the guy who’s been rebuilding for 6 seasons

  14. I have zero belief he will be back. Isn’t his contract up? Bob is an idiot, but even he has been critical of management this year.

  15. I think it’s obvious. They would have fired him by now if this weren’t the case.

  16. Cool. I can go ahead and mark attending Pirate tickets off my 2026 to do list. The Charleston Dirty Birds can have my money.

  17. People have noted that Nickels ate 10 mil to get rid of Coonelly and Huntington ahead of schedule, which is true. But money’s tighter now than it was back then.

  18. Kind of figured they would. He drafted Konnor Griffin in what was apparently his first draft using his actual scouts and not Neal Huntington’s. And his picks this year seem promising and more in line with what. MLB 2025 is.

I’ll reserve judgement til after the deadline though. If he blows these trades, which he has done since coming to Pittsburgh, then it is going to be hard to defend him further.

  19. How anyone thinks this organization will ever change and improve under Nutting’s ownership is beyond me.

  20. I’ve been saying I’d be surprised if he left. I think he’s here as long as Skenes is because any other gm sees the dumpster fire and blows it up.
