Is Ron Holland THE NEXT PISTONS PLAYMAKER?! 🔥😤 #ronholland #Pistons #NBA

In through three games of summer league, I have watched Ron purposely try to make these reads, attempt these reads. Even on some turnovers where maybe it’s not the most accurate pass, it’s bigger to me that he is seeing it, that he is acknowledging, okay, I’ve gotten this rim pressure, I’m a scorer, but the shot isn’t there. Do I just throw up something crazy? Or am I now seeing that because of the paint pressure I’ve created, this dump off is open or this kit skip pass is open. And I’ve seen him in this game and in other games against the Temples, I have seen him repeatedly try to make these reads and make these reads more often than I saw him in games this past year. So that is somewhat and he talked about this before the game that he’s been watching a ton of film this

  1. He was doing the on ball stuff in the G-League. He probably can't ever be your primary playmaker but in the right system and against bench units its definitely in there

He's what I call a paint-by-numbers passer. If you show him the read, he can practice it and execute it.

Those guys can get VERY good though sometimes (Westbrook, Kawhi, Tatum) to where they can be like 90% as effective as the supercomputers like Bron, CP, Cade, etc who just see everything and instantly know where to go with the ball

I don't think Ron is natural playmaker but he has better vision than some comparable physical comps like Kuminga & Jaylen Brown.

  2. Excellent take Ku.. i noticed it too now that you brought it up.

Also, his shot looks sharp, confident & smooth relative to last year.

Ron ceiling has changed for me.. not sure what it will be but i now see why Trajan made the pick with our current roster.

  3. A player LEARNING to pass out of Double Teams and Traps WILL have Turnovers. Hesitancy to try passes in order to avoid Turnovers can slow down improvement. Mistakes can be corrected, but the attempts must be made in order to identify the mistakes.

  4. Ron was trying some fairly ADVANCED Level stuff in trying to "draw" DBL TEAMS & TRAPS in the direction he wants, then bear the defense with the Pass. The Pistons show a lot of confidence in him.

Future 6th Man. ala MICHAEL COOPER of the SHOWTIME Lakers:
Ta-a-ll PG that is also an Athletic Transition Finisher. with 3PT RANGE and Defensive PLAYMAKING ability.

  5. Y’all are delusional ! Ron is ok he has a lot of work to do , I want to see him have better handles , I turned around jumper, a fade away ! A floater and a pull up , this dude is raw as hell , he doesn’t have a first step , he needs to work on all that before y’all give him this credit !! In the summer league the first game was good the other two was a struggle and he didn’t shoot the ball good ! But he showed good hustle ! But I don’t understand how y’all don’t see all the flaws , if he doesn’t develop those skills he will float around the league in 3 to 4 years ! Facts !!!!!!!!!
