Phoenix Suns Interested In Jonathan Kuminga
Yo, what’s going on, guys? And today we’ll be talking about Jonathan Gaminga. Yes, if you guys have not been following, we’ve heard teams like the Kings, the Heat, the Bulls, the Spurs. My apology, not the Spurs, the Suns now have joined that list. And yes, the Suns are interested in Jonathan Kaminga. I think the Heat and Bulls are out. We’ve talked about in the past, the Heat. I think that was before the Norman Pal trade and all that stuff. It would have been hard to do it, but I think it was like their plan C. While for the for the Suns and Kings, we’ll talk about that in a sec, but for the Bulls, it was always Nicole Buchvich. And I just don’t think the Bulls are going to be spending the money on a Jonathan Kaminga in the way that the Warriors would have hoped. So, they aren’t going to get themselves in exchange Nicole Vuvich because it would be at like they would have had to pay him like $30 million a year to get that deal done. While the Kings, it seems like they would they want to give him the full mid-level exception and it would be a Darius Sarich. I don’t know if it’s still Deon Carter, but it was rumored Darius Sar and Deon Carter for Jonathan Kaminga. We’re hearing that the Warriors want draft pick compensation for him, specifically a first. And his camp wants $25 million a year at least. I remember the rumor was that he wanted the same contract during the season as a Jaylen Johnson. So before we continue, I’d like to hear your thoughts down below in the comment section. What do you think of John think of Minga? He averaged 15 points, five rebounds, almost two and a half assists this past season. 47 games, true shooting of 53%, 30% from three, 45% from the field. I do believe that Jonathan Kaminga at his best is a six-man and should be probably paid the same amount as a Malik Monk, but what we’re hearing is that the Phoenix Suns are exploring signing trades for Warriors restricted free agent Jonath Kaminga. It’s going to be a tough deal. Basically, it’s either like Grayson Allen and either Nick Richards or Ryan Dunn. I’d assume Nick Richards or Royce O’Neal and Nick Richards depending on how much they pay him. Again, they’re limited assetwise in the hard cap math. Even though they’re under the apron now, it’s still a tough deal and the Warriors are demanding a firstrounder and everybody’s just bulking at a 25 million annual average contract. So, where do you go from there? Well, I think the interesting thing is that if we’re looking at this situation, as we just said, the Mark Grandi quote until the Kaminga things resolves itself, they aren’t handing out anything above a veteran minimum deal. End quote regarding like the contracts that are going around. And Golden State’s obviously fully leveraging this situation. And it’s being rumored that they’re guaranteed to sign Al Horford and DeAnthony Milton, but there’s no mid-tier signings happening around the NBA until Kaminga and probably like Josh Giddy’s contracts are set. And that’s something that’s hurting them. And we’re seeing that with Cam Thompson. Cra Thomas, I almost said Thompson. Cam Thomas and the rest of the restricted free agent class. Quinn Grimes is another one who is probably sitting here mad as all hell because as I mentioned, Kaminga, Cam Thomas, Josh Giddy, Quinn Grimes are all waiting and agents are looking at cap type teams and hoping someone’s going to blink as we approach training camp. One net source said on Hoop Hype, quote, “In no hurry, end quote to finalize the Thomas deal.” when discussing the front office aka Shawn Marks and company of the Brooklyn Nets and that’s just something that I think is really interesting when we look at all this because the players don’t have leverage and a lot of them if they don’t sign the deals that they’re getting this off season from the from their respected teams that they could resign with unless it’s a sign and trade which does create a trade exception if they do it right. It seems like people will just be sitting around hoping for something that materialize when it might not. And this is something that we talked about leading up to free agency. So on the court, I think Kaminga either bumps O’Neal to the bench, which I think O’Neal is a guy that they would want to trade instead of Grayson Allen. He’s a guy who does add some on ball slashing, a guy who can cut, who isn’t an all right defender, has some abilities to be a scorer, like a 20 point per game scorer. as the Suns do own only a few tradable picks. They must match about $25 million in salary and or like get near that which either Grayson Allen or Ryan Don or Grayson Allen Nick Richards gets that done or you could do and it doesn’t have to be a straight deal with the Warriors. They could do this as a three team expanded. But I mentioned my Royce O’Neal is a bit older, contract shorter, so teams probably rather get off that money quicker. And Nick Richards, that’s about $15 million or almost $16 million, which is $9 million under the salary. And they should be able to do that ever since be, you know, waving Bradley Beal, then that allows you to get that deal done. And we mentioned the Warriors are able to wait. The Suns probably need to make a decision if they’re going to do something like this before camp. And as we said, let’s say I’d rather trade Royce O’Neal and keep Grayson Allen. Yep. Now Deon Booker, Jaylen Green, Dylan Brooks, Jonathan Kaminga, Mark Williams, Nick Richards, wellness deal, we trade Nick Richards, OC Guaro, come on watch. If you can get Gary Payeyton the second, you have Gary Payeyton the second and Colin Gipay off the bench. Rasheir Fleming, Nigel Hayes Davis, Kobe Ry, CJ Hunley. In terms of rookies, Grayson Allen, you have two-way on Isaiah. Did I think he gave Isaiah Livers a a normal deal? Ryan Dunn and right there having Kaminga’s you replace O’Neal nine point per game score, five rebounds per game, two assist guy with a almost 15 point per game scorer with five rebounds and two assists as well. Maybe not as good a shooter, but you have Dylan Brooks there now. You still have Grayson Allen. You have Ryan Dunn. Like this team gets better defensively, gets better shooting wise. Yeah, it might be a little bit of a log jam when you talk about like moving the ball, but you’re raising the ceiling. And as I said, Royce O’Neal, Nick Richards for John, Jonathan Kamingo, and Gary Payne the second, Gary Payne the second will probably be a three-year veteran minimum because if you do a signed trade, it has to be at least a three-year deal. They do probably the Dean Anthony, not the DA Anthony Milton special, the Shake Milton special that we saw when the Knicks traded him to the Brooklyn Nets and then now the Brooklyn Nets traded him to the Lakers and he’s on the Lakers. So, that’s something you could see right there. I don’t think it’s too crazy, but I like to hear your guys’ thoughts down below in the comment section. What do you think of this deal and and why are you guys in agreement with me? I do think it’s something rather interesting because as we look at this situation it’s it’s a huge one. It’s an elephant in the room that like what’s going to happen to Kaminga and Mark Stein was the one that brought this up saying that the Phoenix is the latest team that has expressed exploratory interest in a Jonathan Kamingo sign and trade. Obviously, it’s a challenging deal, but if they could do it, but we know that his agent, Aaron Turner, has been holding numerous discussions. I knew somebody went to meet and talk with them while we were like they left and they’re like, I got to go meet JK’s camp. And even if it’s a short-term deal, they’re cool with at least a $25 million average annual salary. Now, if you guys agree with that, I don’t know, but it’s just either staying with the Warriors or switching teams via sign and trade. Now, we know that the Warriors have expressed reluctance to go that high in price over a long-term agreement while also seeking some level of first round draft compensation and any theoretical sign and trade that would send Kaminga elsewhere. So, as we wrap this up, thank you for watching. If you made it to the end, let me know what you guys think of this mic situation as like it’s kind of like my travel setup that I’m testing out. But that’s basically going to be it. Hit that like and subscribe button if you haven’t already. Cheers. Goodbye. Ciao.
