Look at that smile.

  1. I want to agree but money talks, unfortunately.

i WANT him to stay for a long time btw! He’s got great chemistry

  2. Soto smiled in San Diego, Harper smiled in DC, Freeman smiled in Atlanta.

Would love for Tucker to stay, but this picture means nothing.

  3. I’d love to agree, but cubs haven’t shown they are willing to play at the high roller room of the casino where the big deals are done. Just hoping Jed had some agreement with ownership that they’d go to that level before they made the trade

  4. Bold prediction incoming, I think he’ll sign with the team that offers the biggest contract

  5. ~~I’m hoping he just wouldn’t want to let PCA down after he called him his new best friend during the All Star game~~

    Edit: I misheard

But also people like money so.. yeah, we’ll see

  6. I know I’m in the minority and will get downvoted. But I would not pay him 600 million if the cubs don’t spend the resources to maintain a championship competitor around him. He’s not worth it if the team is gutted.

    Edit: wrong word

  7. If we don’t sign him and the dodgers or Yankees sign him, I will quit baseball

  8. Multiple posts in the last couple of days ***insisting*** that he isn’t leaving…..with absolutely nothing but vibes to back up that assumption. Honestly, this kind of shit should be relegated to the “daily discussion” thread. This isn’t news, this is rose-tinted glazing.

  9. I hope the Cubs decide to say fuck it and offer to match whatever the top offer he gets from another team is. They do that and i think he’s a lock here

  10. It’s easy to smile anywhere when you’re staring at a $500 million plus contract.

  11. Does everyone forget the lead-up to 2016?, The Ricketts have shown they are willing to hand out big contracts (ex: Lester and Heyward) if they feel they are close to contention. Hopefully, they feel the same about about King Tuck

  12. Do people really think he’s going to get a $500m+ contract? He’s been fantastic for the team, but I think Tim Britton of The Athletic is more accurate in the 11y/$366m range. A deal in that range I could see the Cubs making, but I wouldn’t blame them for scoffing at half a billion plus. Let’s be real, he’s a tier below the Ohtani/Judge/Soto benchmark.

  13. Ultimately means little. As a Tiger fan watching Skubal it’s obvious he’s having a blast and loving his time, but that doesn’t have much effect on the future.

  14. We need a group in the right field bleachers to spell out “EXTEND TUCKER” on their chests

  15. I don’t think they will make any large contract offers until the next CBA is negotiated. There is talk about a salary cap, and they don’t want to get pinched by that.

  16. I guarantee he has that smile on his face next season no matter where he plays as he’s getting 500 mil.

  17. My buddy brought up an interesting point, with the looming lockout for the 2027 season, they might not be offering long term contracts, or his agent might be advising against any long term contracts till the new CBA is announced and settled upon. So, might chance should we make a real splash moving into the playoffs or make a deep run, even if we fall short, a 1 year contract for 35/50 million might be realistic

I dont think the rumors of Tuck wanting out of Chicago for New York has any real basis other than that’s what Baseball wants. Obviously, money talks, but I think we have better than good chances of keeping him, but idk

  18. Cubs would be stupid to pay him what he’s asking for.

He’s all but gone. No one knew PCA would play like he has this year, and also with Cassie on the come up, it’s better to spend somewhere else.

Tucker is good, but he’s not 500M good.

  19. Damn right! He’s going to be a Cub for life. I can’t wait to see all the doubters proved wrong.
