This is EXTREMELY good news for the Padres…

This is extremely good news for the San Diego Padres’s. The pitching staff is all coming together just when the team needs to bounce back the most as they become within striking distance of taking over the NL West. What’s going on everybody? It’s Christian Person back with another episode of Padres’s Digest to show that I am trying for the second half of the season to be less nihilistic and depressing about. I apologize for the first half. As a person who’s grown up a Padres’s fan, it is hard to still separate my fan overreaction from alleged media personality and fair and balance Padres’s analysis. Getting there trying my bad. If you want to join along in that process, you can hit the subscribe button. If not, no worries. I want to talk about the pitching staff and I want to talk about the extremely good thing for the San Diego Padres’s. And the extremely good thing for the San Diego Padres’s is this right here. these numbers 0 and2 with a six RA, eight strikeouts. Why is this good? Christian, you you might be saying to yourself, and drop a comment as we go on all of this, please. I want to hear from you guys on the pitching staff. The there’s good there’s good to take from both sides, offensive and defensive. I will talk a little bit about the offensive, but this video is mostly going to be talking about the pitching staff right here. These are you Darvish’s numbers, and I get it that those are not necessarily like, whoa, cool, Darvish is back dominating. But Darvish is back after a season of several attempts and false starts at joining the San Diego Padres’s after a spring training injury. Ud Darvish is finally back and throwing consistently. And after a couple of starts, yes, the numbers are this, but to me it’s much more this that we’re looking at here. And I apologize for this being the still image of it as opposed to the GIF. I YouTube copyright stuff. You get the sense though of what I’m saying here is that if you look at these overlay videos, which I absolutely love online, his stuff is there. Whether or not the like the six erra is just because of the limited number of starts, I don’t care. I don’t even know if we’re going to have be able to care about the ERA by the end of the season necessarily. And again, you can let me know or not if you disagree with me or agree with me. Let’s look at the wins, losses, but I’m here for the strikeouts and the whip for Darvish. But to me, it’s also just the fact that right now he has not regressed. He there has been no um lack of of of he didn’t miss another start. He there’s been no subsequent follow-up alleged furthering of the injury or regression of any sort. So Udarvich seems to just be back. He seems to have his stuff. he seems to have his confidence. This to me then causes the trickle down theory and I you can again agree or disagree. Let’s talk about it in the comment section on like the trickle down economics. But udarish returning to the rotation, even if it’s to produce just okay numbers right now in terms of the like the whip, the strikeouts, the wins, the losses, whatever, it’s going to potentially, I think, cause a trickle down that we’re already starting to see of the rest of the pitching rotation is getting to be favorably matched up a little bit better. What do I mean by that? I mean that obviously Darvish is the one. He’s the dude. He’s the veteran. He’s the guy. He’s the ace. But it’s also a literal thing sometimes where post all-star break the Padres’s have been able to reshuffle and realign with the coming out of that break into having Darvish back realign the rotation and situationally now some of I think our issues with Dylan cease might ease up and get better and I don’t want to be accused of being a flip-flopper on Dylan CE. I do still think that these numbers are not fantastic, but I think if CE can go from always taking on the one or a two on an opposing team to taking on a two or a three, a three or a four, something in that range, I think he can get some more favorable matchups on that win loss. And you know, the ERA is going to be a thing that it kind of seems like he’s one of two things this year. He’s getting hit off of or he’s throwing hard and throwing well. And like if you’re going to lose a playoff game by a ton or one to me, I guess the difference doesn’t matter. So you bank on him being the better version of himself in the play. Let’s not even necessarily go to the playoffs. What I’m saying is the here and the now of Darvish trickle down of then cease gets a little bit better matchups. Pavetta is absolutely crushing it right now. These are his numbers for those of you that have not been following along the X’s and O’s right now. Super deep. So you got Darvish is back. Paveta is going to also now take advantage of being able to move down, if you will, in the rotation um and and have a little bit more favorable matchups. You got to assume that these numbers are going to only continue to increase and look better and better. Then you have Randy Vasquez at the four and okay, like he’s still figuring it out. As of me recording right now, he’s throwing a good game in Miami. And look, this is closer to looking like what the Padres’s off or the Padres’s pitching staff that we envisioned going into this season. We’re still missing Michael King and we’ve got videos on that. But the TLDDR of everything Michael King is that right now August earlier August maybe even heavier in like apostrophes but August is when he is slated to return. So if you can lock in Arvish King, Havetta, Cease, that’s pretty good when we’re talking about needing to win three of five, four of seven. Then you have Vasquez in my opinion to finish out the five in that rotation through say August and September. Right now, it as of uh as of a couple hours before us recording this, it’s been announced that Stephen Kolic is going to fill out the last part of the Padres’s rotation. I am here for the discussion of do we like Burger, do we like Kle, do just some of you out there still want to give Waldron a chance? Do we need to find a lefty? Is Kyle Hart still worth a shot? uh a bevy of options now. But again, this is actually what we had envisioned the Padres’s pitching staff or at least the starting rotation to be looking like is that the question is who’s the five and let’s figure out who’s the five and not have to stretch everybody super thin. And the Padres’s have survived a couple of serious es and flows this year in terms of their health on both the offensive and the pitching side. And I think that you can largely also say for for most of baseball, very rarely do all teams get everybody hot right at the same time. You kind of go through stretches where some people are hitting poorly, some people are hitting better. One of those stories on the Padres’s this entire season has been Xander Bogarts. He’s getting paid a lot of money. He’s a very important player because he is the shortstop, quote unquote. He’s been hitting very poorly. He’s on fire. Now, what does one have to do with the other? What I’m saying is that with the 70ish games, 60s somethingish games depending on when you’re watching this, left in the San Diego Padres’s season, if a couple more of these stretches are going to happen, plus what you assume is continual statistical regression to the mean for Jackson Barl getting a little bit better, Fernando Tatis getting a little bit better, that’s saying that without the, you know, you can even go further into depth of trades and other options, but just saying in general, the offense is going to have sparks. The offense is going to produce a little bit better hypothetically as they get healthier and more in the swing of things. So, a trickle down pitching line or pitching rotation plus a historic bullpen. I know like I I I look I said it at the beginning I’m trying to be more optimistic and more out there positivity wise but it seems like dare I say coming out of the break you Darvish coming back and just being back and consistently staying back could be the like the domino that falls that knocks down all the other dominoes that leads to the Padres’s actually succeeding in a sub a sub substantial way. And I bring all this up to kind of close out on this and say that like this is why I think it’s lining up perfectly is I have another video from a couple of days ago talking about how the next monthish is really good baseball for the Padres’s because it’s a relatively easy chunk of the season. Right now, as of us recording this, three and a half back from the Dodgers and in control of the wild card spot. And I’m not even here now to talk about the wild card spot because if used back, if the pitching’s going, if the hitting is going to elevate a little bit in 26 days, we get to play those Dodgers again. If we keep like just even relatively on this pace of what the team looks like coming out the gate against Washington and now Miami, if we’re within two or three of the Dodgers when we go into playing the Dodgers, that feels like the perfect litmus test to see if this team is the real deal or not. So, so there that’ll be my dis that’ll be my qualifier. That’ll be my little bit of we could still go there uh within three and lose those three and be six back and uh like okay little bit of reality based with this but it kind of seems like it’s all clicking that you coming back is going to lead to this release of the pressure on the rotation and let everything kind of start to really gel and vibe. But let me know what you think. Drop a comment below and like I said at the beginning, if you could hit the subscribe button, it would be much appreciated. Till next time, we’ll talk to you guys soon.

  1. This bogus fraudulent offense can't score more than 2.0 runs per game it is not looking good with non clutch non pressure situation like Machado hitting 0.192 in clutch runners in scoring position as well as the rest of the lower offensive frauds in the lineup the only ones that hit RBIs is Arraez – Sheets- Merrill Tatis struggleing this is not a playoff team unless the ownership spend money on two pitchers and two bats otherwise this team is not going to make the playoffs-I say this new ownership should sell the team tightwads penny-pinching losers so if the ownership isn't going to spend money on two bats and two pitching get over it we're not making the playoffs end of story

  2. You're talking crazy nonsense abut resetting the rotation and Cease pitching against lesser competition.

Cease pitched first after the All Star break and like most teams pitches a 5 man rotation on regular rest.

  3. Forget the Dodgers
Talk about how you don’t even match up with Milwaukee.
Being the sixth seed in the
    National League is nothing
to be excited about. You have nothing to hang your hat on. FYI – Darvish is OLD
