  1. I can’t wait for Autumn. It’s going to be brutally humid and hot the next six days, and there’s no freaking NHL to watch. Ugh

  2. Watching awood highlights to pass the time and wow I forgot how good Seider is at defending 2 on 1s.

The last minute switch to shot blocking as soon as the shooter commits is just so good

  3. Red Wings Off-season… 64 days until preseason puck drop… So I know that I mentioned before that the wife and I have decided to move back to Michigan, but things are starting to get more serious on that front. We’ve started decluttering, deciding which furniture needs replacing so that we can just leave it behind, and we’re constantly looking at houses and properties online, researching areas that we like (obviously with proximity to Detroit being a key factor). So far, it’s been challenging to find the things we absolutely want in our next home because we want this to be the last time we move. Our biggest goals are to escape Florida, be closer to family, and be closer to the Red Wings. Plus, we have three boys who all need their own rooms, my wife and I work from home on occasion so we need our home offices, and I have a room-scale VR setup in my office, so I need to keep that in mind so I can still play Pistol Whip and Beat Saber with my kids. On top of that, both my wife and I want to have more land than the quarter-acre you get when you buy most places in Florida, and we want to be on a lake. Ok, so we’re picky and that’s the ultimate hold up. But we’re looking and planning, so that’s a good sign.

In the world of the Red Wings, it’s still not too much going on as the quiet summer continues. I was happy to see D-Boss post some pictures on Instagram yesterday—not that I am stalking him or anything. The lead picture of his baby girl in a stroller on the ice actually brought tears to my eyes. I can’t even imagine all that he and Kenzy have been through on their journey to having this baby. Loss like that is so hard to handle, and when it happens more than once, it only gets harder. While Kenzy was pregnant this last time, I can only imagine the worry, the sleepless nights they both went through. But I couldn’t be happier for them that things worked out this time; they will make great parents. Plus, Larks will have that “new dad strength” (which is not a myth and is totally a real thing) coupled with a revived sense of purpose now that that weight has been lifted from his shoulders.

So, about those centennial jerseys and our search for another RHD? How we doing there, Stevie?
