The Cleveland Guardians offense EXPLODES in series opener against the Baltimore Orioles

Well, the Guardians put up 10 last night. 7 RBIs. I don’t know for a fact, but I think that’s the first time this season that 7 different players in the lineup all contributed an RBI and all in all, — the Guardians have now won 9 of their last 11 games
— here. Yeah, they’re playing much better. Um, obviously, I mean, Jose Ramirez, it’s the, the 3-run shot in the first inning. And then the Orioles come back, they tie it up, to take the lead and then it was all guardians after that. Uh, couple of things for me, Jose. It’s, it’s unbelievable what he’s able to do when he’s got no help in the lineup. I know they scored 10 and they obviously lives been a lot better in the last, you know, two weeks, but for the most part he’s got no help in the lineup and, um, he’s been just phenomenal. He’s having uh another MVP. He’s not gonna win the MVP, but he’s having an MVPS season. He’s done it. He’s finished in the top 6 in MVP voting more than any player in baseball in the last 8 years. Which is unbelievable. He’s never won an MVP. He’s not gonna win one this year. — Where
— would you have him on that MVP? Right now I’d have to look at some of the other players. Cal Riley and Aaron Judge would be 1 and 2. OK. I’m trying to think if there’s somebody else I’d have ahead of them. I don’t know nobody comes to mind. American League. Yeah, no, he’s probably 3, right? Yeah, it’s, I don’t think it’s really close. He’s 3rd. Uh, so he’s had a magnificent season. Uh, I didn’t, I haven’t had a chance to talk about this on the air because I haven’t been on this show since. Last week By the way, anybody that was, and I’m not sure if anybody on our show did this, Mike, I don’t know if it happened yesterday or what happened maybe Thursday when I wasn’t here. Probably no, it couldn’t have been Thursday because we didn’t know till till Friday. Anybody that criticized Stephen Kwan over the weekend. You’re an idiot. I mean, that was the stupidest thing I ever saw. What? They got mad because he, go ahead. — So basically
— he played he played an all-star game, came back, got a shot, and then he had to sit out because of, of. — Something
— like that. So he got the shot on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. So he, in theory, I guess he could have been back Sunday one day. You’re telling and, and by the way, like. He didn’t know how long it was gonna take after the shot for sure. So there was a chance he was gonna play as early as Friday. So you’re gonna tell me you’re gonna crap on this guy who besides Jose is the only short thing in this lineup because he missed one game, he earned the right. He, he, we were, people were criticizing Jose last week for not playing in the All-Star game. Now you’re gonna criticize Steven Kuon for playing in the All-Star game. He, this man, we always get pissed that fan, that players don’t respect the fans, don’t respect the game. This guy. Has total imposter syndrome. He doesn’t think he’s that good. He goes, he is so honored to be at the All-Star game. They purposely put him, if you notice, they put him in the game later than a lot of the other guys because they wanted him only to have one at back because the wrist was a little iffy. He hoped he, but because the American League came back and tied the game. He ended up getting that 2nd at bat late in the game. And so he was only planning on getting one at bat. It was a couple of innings. Somebody called me a hypocrite because I criticized Jared Allen. Jared Allen playing 82 regular season games versus Stephen Quon playing 34 innings in an All-Star game is a ridiculous, is a, it’s not the same thing. And to criticize Stephen Kuon when there’s. a million things to legitimately criticize the Guardians for is stupid, and there are people saying he’s arrogant, he’s selfish. You’re an idiot. You don’t know what you’re talking. People I saw fans saying this on Twitter about Stephen Quon. Yes, he’s arrogant, arrogant and people in their feelings that — Stephenuan missed the first couple of
— games. I mean it was, it was insane. This is wild to me because I, I’ve never quite understood this. If you, most fans will always operate under the assumption that they will side with management over fires at any time like and this is going down in the backdrop of the fact that Stephen Kwan will never be paid by this organization. He will never sign a long-term deal of this organization and even, even they know it, even Chat GPT. He knows it. He depends which shouldn’t be an issue because he’s not gonna get crazy money. They should be able to sign it. But this, you’re right about management versus players. But this situation is not even management versus players. Guardian’s management is not annoyed at him for playing the All-Star game. we get to the Stephen Quon trade rumors in one second before we pivot into their real quick on yesterday’s game. I, I, I know it’s one game. 9 of their last 10. They scored 10. When Baltimore tied it up, I was like, oh no, here we go, but the response from the Guardians, I just want to touch on that real quick. The response to not cave to Baltimore’s response to counterpunchvis. Well, — I thought was pretty impressive not only
— counterpunch, — but the Baltimore took the lead and then
— the good news about it is last week. Bull, it was me, me, G, and Jason, so I don’t think Mikey wasn’t here and Bull was here, but we did the the topic was who needed to step it up post All-Star break, and the three players I picked was Royo, Manzardo, and Naylor. And you go look at this game. Naylor homered, Manzardo Hort and Royo had a, I think he had an RBI. So it’s crazy that those three, they watched the show obviously no doubt 100% tuned into the show. I put them on the hot seat and they responded. It’s just it’s crazy how good this lineup could be when everybody does what they’re capable of doing. No, the lineup is not good. It can’t be good. They’ll stop it. Stop it. It could be good for 2 weeks. The Rockies could be good for 2 weeks. The lineup trading. We tell the truth for trading. So come on, let me tell you something about this that we can’t win the G said to me, no, go ahead. No, no, this this is a perfect example. Yeah, you, you callyle Manzardo out, right? I did. Guess what? He showed up, left hand back yesterday 2 for 3. Just hit a home run, I believe in the 6th inning, right? I don’t remember what it was but but comes back up, bases loaded. I’m thinking, oh, this is a great opportunity. He’s seen the ball well. They take him out, they make a pitching change. They go with a lefty. Stephen Volt goes to the goes to the bench and brings David Fry. Now mind you, if David Fry was tearing the cover off left hand sticks, I would get a left-hand pitching. I would get it, but he’s like at 167 or something. Man Zardo is only at 190, almost 200 of his lefties, right? But. Bro, he’s, you had him batting clean up. You took your cleanup hitter, your young guy who’s seeing the ball better that you’re gonna need to get to get something done down the stretch to play well for you. You take him out once he’s hitting the ball well and you put in, — you go righty
— lefty for Grant Wolfram, that’s the guy who was pitching for Baltimore. Grant, — this
— is, this is outrageous. This is pinch hitting for, for Kyle Man. I don’t know what on earth the Guardians are doing. I don’t know if this is an organizational decision. I don’t know if they’re just trying to drive me to drink. Kyle Manzardo is by far the 3rd best offensive player on the team, and he’s by far the 2nd best. You know, whole power slash run producing member of this team. To he’s, he doesn’t play against lefties anymore. — Technically
— it’s Christmas, but go ahead. The this lineup, even with the recent hot streak stinks. He’s got a 748 OPS. That’s not amazing, but it’s above average. Everybody else on the team not named Quantum Ramirez is under 700, which stinks. Man, every time I get fired up, I start coughing. — I don’t know what’s going
— on. We ask that sinners. He took a week off. pinch hitting for Kyle Manzardo in that situation is completely ridiculous. Of course, David Frye made it out, but I’m not, listen, David Frye is struggling. What? I don’t understand. Why does Carlos Santana always have to be in the lineup? What the hell is going on with this team? And I guess I, you know, I know a lot of people could be like, they’ve won 9 of 11. What are you getting so mad for? Because I know the reality. The reality is they’re still under 500. They’re not going to the playoffs. This hot streak will end somewhat soon, even though they’ve been playing bad teams lately. They’re still 10 games out. They’re not like, they’re not in a good position. — They’re only 3.2 from the
— wild. Yeah, but there’s like 8 teams in the wild card. And listen, maybe I’ll be wrong. Maybe they’ll make the wild card. No, there’s more, Mike, you left teams out there, right? Or just. Yeah, so that’s the two teams tied for the last spot, the 1st 2 teams out, and then Cleveland just to show you where you’re at, but there are more teams between Texas and Cleveland. Why not in the future when you make this to like Texas slash blah blah blah slash blah blah blah. Because I think it’s useless. — I’ll show you
— afterwards why it looks wonky, but, but we can put real quick if you pull that one back up instead of Texas, say 4 other teams ahead. Yeah, I was gonna say we could do something like that because it’s misleading and it’s just like I, I don’t, I, I will never, I, I need a straight answer from somebody with the guardians as to why Kyle Manzardo because the guardians have this attitude and it’s the same. — We just got done
— talking about they’re so smart. — We’re all idiots for asking the questions
— real quick and pull that back up. — This is accurate
— today. Oh, — it is accurate
— accurate, but this is accurate. — In terms of there’s no other teams
— I just don’t think the Guardians are as good as those other four teams. I don’t think they’re gonna make the playoffs. at the right time. We, we are all it takes is a strong finish. We are the organization believe there’s a chance they might buy. We are so and this is the, I guess, I guess this is a frustrating thing to me. It just seems like we just got done talking about this in another sport. We are so risk averse, like we’d be slow walking. Now, now think about this. Kyle Manzardo, we was, we was yelling and screaming to get him up, and they kept, they, they gave him the Chase Delaer playbook slow walk, slow walk. He finally gets here. It wasn’t that it wasn’t that bad but they sent him, they, they sent him down because he wasn’t, he, he was not playing well. He came back up and started hitting the ball. Now you’re like. He’s obviously your 3rd best hitter. He’s the only source of power. You got 5 dudes in your lineup that you’re putting out there under 2000. You just saw him hit a home run. At what point? I’m starting I, I’m, I feel like it’s, it’s Groundhog’s Day. I’m asking, is Stephen Volt hand tied? Does he make any decisions or it’s a camaraderie guy. Can he make a decision? Should we start giving him the Kevin Steansky pass? Everything bad is not his fault. Well, they did a poll on who players love as managers. I think he came in right after Tito. So nowadays I’m telling you what they’re doing. They should work for these teams. They should, you should you do work for them. By the way, you do work now, uh, but here’s the thing though, like nowadays it just seems to me, and maybe you get me together on this one. Nowadays, back in the day, I, I believe managers made pitching changes. They may have told you what pitches to throw, they told you when to steal, bunt, run, who I’m gonna put in the lineup. It might be a gut feeling, righty lefty, I’m gonna do it whenever I. I feel like it nowadays it just feels like these managers is babysitters. It’s your job to make people feel good and and good when they’re going through a streak. There’s some truth to that. It depends on the team analytics, uh, that the sheet tells us I don’t know that it is baffling to me. There’s gotta be something, but how’s Manzardo supposed to get better against lefties? He got off to a great start if you don’t play him against lefties. People complain about his defense. Of course, his defense is gonna suck. He never plays first base. Never. He’s a young player’s DHing every game. Of course, he’s not good at first base. So stupid. They’ve handled him terribly. It’s embarrassing. They play these Jonathan Rodriguez and all these guys who can’t hit a lick.

José Ramírez had a three-run homer in the first inning, Brayan Rocchio delivered a two-run single in the seventh and the Cleveland Guardians pulled away for a 10-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.

Ramón Laureano had given the Orioles a 5-3 lead in the third with a two-run homer, but Cleveland followed with seven unanswered runs to win for the ninth time in 11 games.

Kyle Manzardo put the Guardians in front 6-5 with a solo homer in the sixth off Colin Selby (0-1), one inning after Bo Naylor tied the game with a solo shot.

Cleveland scored four runs in the seventh, two of them on bases-loaded walks by Grant Wolfram with two outs. The Guardians left a season-high 15 on base and were 3 of 20 with runners in scoring position.

Cleveland starter Tanner Bibee (6-9) worked seven innings, allowing five runs — three earned — and six hits. The right-hander won his second straight after going eight starts between victories from May 27 to July 7.

All-Star left fielder Steven Kwan, who missed three games with right wrist soreness, reached base five times in six plate appearances in his return for Cleveland. He had two singles and three walks.

Laureano finished with four RBI for Baltimore, which has lost five of six. Starter Tomoyuki Sugano walked a season-high four over 3 2/3 innings | https://www.espn.com/mlb/recap/_/gameId/401696405

  1. Don’t let Bull start throwing advanced stats on you. The ones that make Nolan Jones into Aaron Judge or Slade look like he didn’t have an elite outing. Or that makes Martinez’s grand slam the other day be “a lucky bloop” only possible in the Astros stadium. Devil is a lie. Lol

  2. I love bull but he's always the one saying any team can make a run in the playoffs for baseball. The best team s in baseball are the Brewers and tigers. Like c'mon. Guardians like aby team can make a run if the lineup produces

  3. The Guardians lineup peaks when David Fry, a righted handed bat, is crushing LHP to protect the other hitters on this team. That was a good spot for David to build on his good weekend. Its not that hard to see why they did that.

  4. Bull is rooting for his narrative now saying "they're not going to make the playoffs" instead of for the team. He actually looks mad they are winning, and its embarrassing.
