Miami Heat REUNITING With Victor Oladipo? Miami Heat Rumors
[Music] Could the Miami Heat reunite with former guard Victor Aladipo? I am Nick Rolloff. This is the Heat Report by Chat Sports. Alado is trying to make a comeback in the NBA and the Heat. Maybe could be a team that takes interest in their former guard. Aladipo, if you are not aware, has not played in the NBA since for the Heat during the 2022 23 NBA season where he ended up tearing his patellar tendon. That actually happened in the playoffs for Miami as they were making the run to the NBA finals against the Milwaukee Bucks in that first round series. Um, and it was a bummer for Victor Aladipo because he was playing extremely well for the Heat at that time in that playoff run and has not seen the hardwood since. We’ll talk more about Depot here in a second, but my boss has challenged me to beat our top liked video from a week ago. What was that number? 227. I think Heat fans should easily be able to clear this. Help me out. Make the bosses happy by getting us over 227 likes. I will always have love for Victor Alipo. Like, this man wanted to be a member of the Miamiian organization for what felt his entire career. He was bounced around between OKC, Indiana, and then Houston. Then he finally found his way to the 305. He was happy to be here. And then he just unfortunately continued to get hit with the injury plague and he was never able to stay on the floor because when he was on the court for Miami, he was relatively solid, especially on the defensive end. But he just had so many injuries to his hip, his knee, lower body to where he couldn’t play. and it’s what’s kept him out for basically two years now. But he did hold a private workout recently and apparently it went really well. Jeremy Woo, who does a lot of work for ESPN and Draft Express to the two-time all-star, was a part of a well- attended private workout in Las Vegas on Monday morning with a large contingent of NBA and European teams attending. Alipo played fullcourt five on five in a group workout of international pros. Multiple team sources and attendance came away impressed with Aladipo as he was being described as being in excellent shape as he pursues another comeback. And there were multiple NBA teams and European professional teams in attendance. Well, the Sun Sentinels era Winderman reported that the Heat were one of those NBA teams in attendance. And we know Miami does have an open roster spot. They only have 14 players. Maximum of 15 standard contracts are allowed in the off season. So it begs the question, Miami was in attendance. Alado apparently performed pretty well. There is a mutual connection in the past. Could the Miami Heat resign Victor Aladipo back to this roster heading into the 202526 NBA season? I’ll give you my thoughts on Depot and what I think Miami should do with that open roster spot in a second, but I want to get your thoughts on the matter first. Make the call pin comment on today’s show. Do you want to resign Victor Aladipo? Type Y for yes, type N for no. You hit with YouTube ad break. Scroll down, let it play, and answer today’s question. Coming up in just one second, I am going to give you my answer on what I think the Heat should do when it comes to Victor Alado and other NBA free agents. But I did want to first talk about the player a little bit more because he was on the Heat for three seasons, believe it or not. He was traded to Miami from Houston during the 2021-22 campaign, then played in the 22 23 season, but only appeared in 51 games. He just suffered so many injuries throughout the 2 and a half years he was in Miami. But when he was on the court, I mentioned he was very solid, averaging 11 points a game. Now, the efficiency wasn’t there um for him, but like he was so impactful defensively. I remember watching him and just being so excited with how he was able to get in the passing lanes, get his hands on loose balls and create deflections. Like he was so active there and he had some big moments for the Heat in the playoffs as well against the Atlanta Hawks uh the first year he was with Miami in that first round, the year the Heat were the one seed. Um and then also when the Heat were playing the Bucks, as I mentioned, they ended up upsetting them in the first round. like Alipo had some good moments. Now, with this being said, he is two years removed from playing NBA basketball. How am I going to believe that he is going to be able to bounce back and be a productive NBA player with so many injuries to his lower body? I know he’s only 33 and it’s crazy to like say that he might be a wash 33 year old with how well people play into their mid to late 30s now, but those players that have performed so well and late in their career also have not had multiple ACL injuries and lower body injuries that have cost them pretty much the entire season and some offseasons at time. So, I hope Alipo the best. I want him to do nothing short of great things. I just don’t think he’s going to be able to be a rotational player in the NBA. Could he be a good overseas player? Absolutely. That’s why some European teams were in attendance, but in the best league in the entire world, I just don’t know if he’s going to be able to be able to produce to the level that he would hope so and NBA teams would hope so. Now, Alipo did share a very positive mindset on July 13th, so only about eight days away. He said on Twitter and X that he feels so great right now. Bevi has felt in the last seven years with his body, mind, and soul. He’s a fighter. He’s a warrior. He’s seen every lens of this game in this league. He knows he can help a team in any role and win right away. He also wants the people to see him succeed and play again at the highest level after all of his injuries and that he will never be injured like he has been again. He’s at peace with that in his past, but he’s ready to build a present and a future of a lifetime with a new found run in the NBA. And I mentioned like I love Aldi, but like I really hope he can make an NBA comeback and find his way onto an NBA roster and be a legit level NBA contributor. I just unfortunately don’t think it’s going to happen. Now, apparently he’s looking workouts. Maybe he can make things happen. I just feel a little shaky about that. So, you kind of know where my answer is going on in this with Victor Alipo, but I’ll officially give it here in a second. Did want to just update people that this shirt right here is on sale. One more time, chatports.com/heatshirt sale. Links in the description and comments of today’s video. One more time. And I don’t want this to be a negative. I want Victor Oliveo to succeed. I am going to root for him like hell to be a good player in the NBA again. I just do not think Miami should even consider resigning Victor Aladipo. I’m sorry. It just should not happen. Miami has one one open roster spot. They got 14 out of 15 filled. If they were 13 out of 15 and they had two roster spots, all right, let’s do it. Why not bring in Victor Alado? But where this Heat roster is currently, it just does not need a player like Victor Alado. It just doesn’t make any sense. They’ve got so many players in the back court. And maybe my answer to this question would have been a little bit different before the Norman Powell trade a couple weeks ago, but with the Heat roster having so many guards on it. It just is hard for me to re find a reason to bring Victor Alipo into this team. Like what would his role be? You want to see Hero and Powell play together. You want Da’Von Mitchell to have a larger role off the bench or even a starting role after being paid $12 million per season. You drafted Casper Yakonis with that 20th overall pick and you’re going to hope to see an uptick in production in minutes for your second round pick in 2024, Pel Larson. If you are going to add another player to this roster, it simply just doesn’t need to be another guard. Now, if you were making a trade for a guard and you’re trading some of your players out to get one, then we’re okay with that. But if you are just adding another player without losing another player, it should not be at the guard position because of the roster and rotation we already have. Powell, Hero, Yakonis, Mitchell, Larson, like they’re not all point guards, but they all are going to be playing in that back court and would be fighting with Aladipo for minutes. So, some of those players, whether it’s Victor not playing at all or it’s one of your young guys getting less PT and less run, I’m just not really sold on that being the best option for the Miami Heat. Not only to mention the guard stuff, but we’re also looking towards a full youth movement in Miami. It’s very clear that this team wanted to get younger. It’s why they moved on from Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson, and they weren’t willing to pay Jimmy Butler that massive contract one year ago. Our oldest player on the roster right now is Norman Powell at 32 years of age. Why would we bring Deepo into this roster who has not played basketball in two years and is would then be your oldest player at age 33? Like it just goes back to my point. We have too many guards. We have too many young players like Larson, DaVon, Hero, and Yakonis to play. I don’t want to take away their experience, development, and minutes by bringing in a 33-year-old guard who can’t ever stay on the field or court, I should say. But there’s another real reason here and it’s not or less like that. It’s actually basketball in a roster construction. We showed that Heat roster. We need another big man. Bamio and KL Wear are your only real front court members. Yeah, you have Vlad Golden on a two-way, but I don’t anticipate him really contributing this season and I wouldn’t give him a standard contract. Are you going to have Yoic be your third big? That’s just a disaster. Can he play the four? And yeah, you can maybe shift Bam and wear to the five obviously and play over to the four. Yeah, that works. But I think you just need a legit real backup center because I also really don’t want to play Bam at the five anymore. I want to fully transition him to the four as a wing. Let him lose weight, gain some of that quickness and athleticism back and let wear and another player hold down that center rotation. And if you really needed to, you could go small ball five like the Pacers do at times with Pascal Siaka. I want to keep Bam slim and at the four spot. So, there are some big men that I would consider signing over Victor Aladipo if Miami were to sign a player and not try to shed salary to get underneath the luxury tax. Right now, the top four big men are Precious Aua, Chris Bucher, Bull, and Trey Lyles. Now, these four really aren’t the best options in the world if we’re going to be honest. Trey Lyles isn’t even a five, but he could play a small ball five. Aua is like a four five hybrid. Buché and Bowler both have the size of a center, but they play like two guards. So, yeah, I guess there aren’t the best big men available, but I would rather add any of these four guys to the Heat rotation before I would think about bringing back Victor Alipo. So, be the GM, take Pat Riley’s position, pick a free agent to sign. It could be Aladipo. It could be one of those four players that we just showed on screen. If you had to choose one free agent for Miami to go and sign, who would it be? I know we would usually answer Damen Lillard, but with him officially off the books as of late last week, uh, it’s not going to happen. Out of the five players we have touched on in today’s show, my number one answer is going to be Pre Sichua. And I really think he would be able to impact this Heat roster, and I think it would be a cool story as well, right? 20th pick in 2020. Didn’t work out. traded after a year in the sign and trade um to get Kyle Lowry and it just unfortunately didn’t work for Chua in Miami for his rookie season. But he’s a high energy. He knows what to expect with this Heat organization. He can play a little bit small ball five. He can play the four next to wear. Like I think a Chua in Miami would be a cool story. I’d like to see him get a second chance at redemp redemption and see if he could become a solid rotational player for Miami. So, if I had to choose one player, I would go with the former first round pick for the Miami Heat, Precious Aua. And if anything does happen around the Miami Heat, we will have you covered on here, but also on my social media and you will hear about it first over there. Do you want to re-sign Victor Oladipo? Type ‘Y’ for Yes or ‘N’ for No
Get Victor Olaidpo he's still got game plus play defense
No. I wanted Marcus Smart really bad, looks like he’s going to the Lakers
Bol Bol, we need scoring off the bench.
Bol bol
Y
Give him chance!!! He is a better defender
If he passes his physical evaluations, YESSSSS,…
he'll put in the work,
he's not going to be playing 30mons per game anyways, there's no player that will buy into their role like DIPO would… He'll play as needed in some spot mins
I’m signing Nikola Jovic especially since he said he wasn’t resigning with the nuggets!! Ware would then learn from a true center
dipo is just a waste of time..
I love OH-la-dee-poo.. one of my favorite players i would love to havehim on this team.. and i would take him if Terry Rozier gets caught up in this legal situation and the Heat are forced to cut him – then yeah pick him up for a vet min! I'd love it
Please bring him back. He’s been a great player
Dude shut up
What’s the point? Doesn’t move the needle. Who cares
I would love to bring Oladipo back to the Heat. He was a great fit with us until he got hurt. It would be great if we could snatch him up and get rid of Rozier. Note that would be perfect. He’s a Heat Culture type player. The man has no quitting in him and loves to compete.
Yes I would definitely sign Dipo and buyout Rozier
him and herro would be elite
Nopeeee….. The Miami heat must gonna save up that last 15th man standard contract to a whale next season
Bring him back to the Miami heat
Yes
Matter as Well Get Russell Westbrook he Stays healthy
Did Y'all really just forgot about Burks? 😭
Y, Dipo could have even taken 3 years off and still return strong at pro level
Y, for the right price.
I would love him back but don’t get how he’d fit into the rotation unless we don’t play pelle or jaquez we need a backup center
Y
This could be his season and i really think so give him a chance
Just bring him back to the Miami heat
