San Diego Padres vs Miami Marlins – FULL GAME HIGHLIGHTS | July 22, 2025 MLB Season

Don Oracillo. Donnie, thanks very much, Budley. Here we go. Game two of the three-game series against the Fish. And the first one is grounded right side right to Xavier Edwards who fires to first base to retire Fernando. One pitch, one out here in the first inning. Only 74 hits. That’s a good number. And the strikeouts are up. Chopped to first base on one big hop. Wagaman will take it to the bag himself for out number two. Xavier Edwards had three hits in the game last night. Grounds this one by the mound. Machado races in. Goes on the run and they got him. And coming up a little bit lame was Edwards. I’m not sure if it’s how he hit the bag or what, but hopping around a little bit on a close play at first on a nice play by Manny Machado. So two down. Otto Lopez will send it the other way to right center field and that’s going to get in for a base hit. To the backhand is Tatis and he fires it back in quickly. Does a great job of that. He has held so many to just a single by how quickly he get Ramirez who grounds one towards third base and coming in. Bachado throws it away to third goes Lopez and he may go beyond. Yep. Going to try and score. Here’s a throw from Cronorth. It’s cut off and the Marlins will get a run. The throwing error from Machado. Although he did homer and now Jolts one towards the gap in right center field that gets through to the track and the wall. Ramirez being waved around. Going to try and score. Here’s a throw from a glacius. It’s up the line. Run is in. It gets away. It’s backed up by Coley. And two runs are in for the Marlins here in the bottom of the first inning. Six. Swinging a miss. And the curveball gets Jackson Merrill for a strike out for Cabrera. Number two. That’s a really hard tight curve ball right there. That’s not Chronor sends one towards right center field. That’s in for a base hit. Myers over to it quickly going first to third is Sheets and the Padres have runners at the corners with two down. First hit of the night belongs to Jake Broninorth for the Padres. Left side and Machado tried to barehand it and could not. It’s by him and reaching at first base is Paulie. One out, one on for Dane Meyers, the center fielder on the ground and through into right field. Stopping at second base is Paulie. Okay, I got two things for you, Scott. Yeah, what do you got? This one is ground down third base. Fair ball. Martine Maldonado is thinking too. He better hurry. Here comes the throw to second. He’s going to be safe. He gets in. Good slide. Third base side. This will get away as Maldonado will take third base and kicked up well up the first base line off of Ramirez. So Maldonado now 90 ft away. Lines a 22 in right field for a base hit. Maldonado will score and Arise has got a base hit and an RBI. Padres’s cut the Marlins lead in half. It’s two to one. 22 is sharply slapped through the left side into left center. Sanchez aboard with a single to begin things here in the third inning. He does radio for the Marlins. Could be two. Bogarts to second for one. On to first. It is two. And the second double play turn by the Padres’s. That was Taylor made right at Bogurts. To center falling fast and out there to make the catches of Glacius. robs him. They got a good jump out into the short line in center field. He reels it in. That’ll end the third inning. That is strike three. And Sters didn’t think so. Was going to say some stuff to Clemens on the way by. No question. Grounded left side and a rangy play from Graham Polly who gets it there in time. Nice play from the former Padre. swinging a miss at the curveball and he strikes out. It’s sixks now for Cabrera and he’s retired seven Padres’s in a row. Did he go? Yes, he did. One of my trade deadline stories. I nothing to the count here. Two outs to Edwards. And that’s strike three. Kick now with his fifth strikeout and not agreeing is Edwards. I just I steal their ideas and they become my own. This is the right center falling fast and in for a base hit for a rise. He is headed for second base. Here comes the throw. He’ll be safe. Double start six here in the sixth inning. To the backand knocked down by Wagaman and reaching Willie Sheets. Not getting over was Cabrera. Not sure why. dribble down in front of the mound. Here comes Cabreri. Flips to the plate and out at the plate is Arise. Grow to second. Safe there. Getting into second base is Sheets, but Arise is out at the plate getting the lead runner. You know, when that happens, infielders like Xander and Jake and Jose and Manny, they’re aware of that. There’s a ground ball to Aacius at second base for the first down here in the sixth inning. That’s a fair ball inside the bag at third down to the left field corner. Ramirez headed to second base. A double with no problem. In fact, he’ll round second base. It’s a two out double. Breaks up a string of 11 in a row. Line into center field. A base hit. Here’s Sen Ramirez. Here comes the throw from center from Merill. It’s cut off and the Marlins have a 3-1 lead. Well, all this coming with two outs in the inning. And an RBI single for Hernandez. Makes it 3-1 Marlins. First and second, two down. And Wagaman gets drilled. 92 mph fast ball will load the bases now for the Marlins. There’s a strike out of Alacius. First K for Gibson. Now number two of the seventh. Fly ball shallow center. Dane Meyers makes the catch and ends the inning. Padres’s down in order. Seventh inning stretch. 3-1 Marlins. A strike three gets him on the sinker. First strike out for Wy Peralta. 3-2 pitch coming up here to Xavier Edwards. and a little flare into center field. Base hit. His first hit of the night comes with one out in the seventh inning. Not hit hard at all, but a base hit nonetheless. Ball four and he walks him with two outs in the inning. Now a quick work from Jack in the Box and that is strike three. Oh, Fernando’s got to be careful. He’s pointing and showing him that he thinks it was up. Right side to Edwards at second base and Arise is retired. Two down. In the air to right field, sending Sanchez back onto the warning track to make the catch. It’s a 1 2 3. It’s 3-1 Miami. Nice. Struck him out on the gas. Second strike out for Morgan. Slowly rolled towards third base. Manny Machado will just let that go. Not able to do anything with it. And Hernandez will reach the infield single with one away. Getting ready for a Padre rally. This is sent towards the gap in left center field. It’s trouble. Hernandez running around the bases. They’re going to send him heading for third as a run will score and doing so safely with an RBI triple. Senoa on the ground at third base. Manny Machado will throw on the run and off the mark. And did he get him? He got him on the tag apparently on the way by. Cronorth did get a piece of him. We’ll see if they’re going to challenge here. Ground ball down the line at third. Fair ball to the left field corner. Sheets is headed for third. He’ll be stopped there into second with a double as Xander Bogarts. Good start to the ninth inning for the Padres. Merrill to right field. Sanchez going back. It’s over his head. It’s off the bottom of the wall from third base. Sheets will score. Here comes Bogarts. And it’s a one-run game. Two-run double for Jackson Merrill. Here come the Padres in the air to shallow left. Out goes the shortstop Lopez for the first out of the inning. Brooks will pop it up side of the infield. Lopez the shorts stop makes the catch and that’s the ball game. The Marlins hold on barely.

  1. Thinking that Jake Cronenworth would get a hit in the 9th to score Jackson on second was ludicrous. A simple bunt would have been better. 😢 Small ball.
