San Antonio Spurs Sign Lindy Waters III To A 1-Year Deal

Yo, what’s going on guys? And today we’ll be talking about Lindy Waters III joining the San Antonio Spurs, former OK State, OKC Golden State Warriors. Now, San Antonio Spurs on a one-year deal. Shout out Sham Shirania for this information. Before we start today’s video, of course, I’d like to hear what you guys have to say down below in the comment section. What do you guys think of this signing and why? Now, this is a 6’6 shooter who I think personally perfect for this team. Obviously, a depth piece, bottom of the bench, but the type of player you want to get at a cost that is worth it. For Lindy, it’s an organization that’s going to give him a chance to play minutes as well as fit the culture and timeline that they need, which is they need some shooters around Wimyama and De’aran Fox while also giving himself an opportunity to bet on bet on himself to go ahead and be able to enter free agency again next year when a lot more teams are going to have money. So, let’s go ahead and talk about why this happened. So, they signed him, which it’s a one-year deal. Lindy Waters III, Clutch Sports in San Antonio were able to talk that one through. He’s a 6’6 wing who can play the two or the three. A 37% three-point shooter on almost four attempts a game if they needed him to come in. He’s an instant offensive shooter who’s going to be able to shoot over basically anybody. He can help off the bench, plug and play in spot starts. And that’s kind of what they brought him there to help fill out the roster and play when needed. As you guys see, the current roster posts signing is Darren Fox, Steph Castle, Devin Bell, Harrison Barnes, Victor Webinama, Dylan Harper. I would assume Lindy Waters and Carter Bryant would duke out for minutes at that backup two spot. Kell Johnson, Jeremy Song, Kelly Oolen, and then you got yourself Jordan McLaclin and David Jones Garcia, Julian Champeni. They have one more roster spot open for a non two-way player, so a standard contract, and then Luke Cornet, which I really like their front court rotation. You would assume they probably go another forward, which could be a Harrison Ingram or somebody else that they previously had on the roster, or Riley Minx. So, just keep an eye out for that. But either way, the team’s roster looks good and functional, especially for a team that’s going to be pushing the pace. A lot of defense and a lot of three-point shots it seems like from this squad. So, what does Waters role? We said it before. It’s the shoe threes when he ever he comes out. They shot under 36% the Spurs as a unit. That’s 10th worst in the NBA. That’s yeah, they were able to put the shots up under Mitch Johnson, which clearly that’s what Mitchie Boy wanted, but the the efficiency lagged and at times Victor Webbyama’s shooting wasn’t the best, but it did get better over the time. and opponents were able just to sag off, pack the paint and the spacing on the floor shrank, which doesn’t allow De’Arren Fox to play his game and doesn’t allow them to have the the spacing that you want when you have the type of players that they have in De’Aran Fox, De Castle, Victor Webinyama, and Company. So, Waters being there is going to be a guy that is going to create that gravity through his catch and shoot. Defenses are going to have to guard him. They’re going to have to know he’s going to shoot that which is opening up the driving lanes for Steph Castle and De’Arren Fox which will make their offense more efficient and get them less contested looks. Now what is the outlook? Look the pick and pop ability of the Spurs can have Waters on the corner and Wimyama run a pick and roll. Luke Cornet, Kelly Olen, whoever it may be, Jeremy Soan, and then knowing that either Castle or Fox will, you know, dribble penetrate, and they’ll have the ability to either get to the free throw line, get easy free throw shots or kick it out to the 37% three-point shooter that’s going to be in the corner. Now, he’s going to be able to defend twos and threes. And this is going to allow, you know, Castle and Demile, another guy that we haven’t really talked about right there, to slide up a position if they need to or slide down a position as he can play multiple positions, which is going to be huge for them. So, I think it gives them some versatility on both offense and defense as it allow them to be a bit more efficient. Now, outside of that, how does he fit? Look, it’s a minimum deal, what we’re assuming, and it keeps them well below the first apron. They have that 2026 salary cap room still and it’s a one-year bet. If this bet goes right, it’s going to allow him to get a bigger contract to either stick in San Antonio or go somewhere else. They also are going to own his early bird rights if not like if he’s not moved before that, my apology. So, they still hold two open roster spots from my understanding. And they could pursue, as I mentioned, another two-way score, a third string. I wrote center, but I meant frontcourt player because they already have a third string center. And then the Spurs get a reliable shooter, a locker room presence, and a guy who’s played on multiple teams. He’s a cheap flyer. And this is kind of the incremental buildup you want from a team that’s budding into a hopeful contender. So, that being said, I’d like to hear your guys’ thoughts down below in the comment section. What do you guys think? And do you guys agree with me? I think this is a good signing. But that’s basically going to be it for me, guys. I hope you guys did enjoy today’s video. 1. Thx for the video. Decent signing. Just sooo happy that Spurs did not bring back Charles Bassey. Different position, but was a wasted position. Each yr getting paid to stay hurt.

Spurs desperately need shooting. Spurs maximizing financial flexibility. Would love to see them trade Vassell (vuh-sell is how it’s pronounced) at trade deadline.
