Let’s call it what it is. It is a blunder by this front office. He was probably the Pelicans best player in summer league too. And this is a team that lacks shooting and talking about adding GPII which further adds the lack of shooting, although I do like him a lot.
It isn’t something to freak out over for Pels fans but it is a blunder. The question is exactly what the plan is now with that final spot and it sure does seem like it’ll be a guard based on the tea leaves. I think you’re gonna see them play small quite a bit with Zion at the 5.

His biggest issue is Hawkins is a really similar player and due to the investment in him is ahead of him in the depth chart. He was never likely to crack it in New Orleans but hopefully he has a great G-League year and it earns him an NBA deal.
