Madness | Before The Noise: S2 Ep.1
Headed to the field now to deliver our ceremonial first pitch. Seahawk head coach Mike McDonald. It’s been awesome. Just every interaction I’ve had with every fan, every 12 out there. And I feel like the Seahawks, they quietly had the perfect off season. They can you feel it. It’s inspiring and remaking their roster on the fly like this. They not only brought in a championship caliber, but also ones that compliment. So, I really appreciate the support. Great pitch. Good luck in your upcoming season with the Seahawks. Guys are bought in. They’re freaking working really, really hard and really excited just to build it and go from here. When you’re trying to put this thing together, it’s a huge pie. Want to be able to establish our identity, be a strong, tough, physical football team. That’s what we want to look like. [Music] Breaking news. The Seahawks have their quarterback. ESPN’s Adam Shfter says former Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold reached an agreement today on a three-year 110.5 million contract with Seattle. He’s going to walk in and know this language and have such comfort with Clint Kubak. There’s a new era in Seattle with the Seahawks and McDonald. And Sam Darnold is going to be the one leading it as the quarterback. You’ve got a guy in Sam Darnold that showed you he’s got the capability of being a starting quarterback with what he did for the Vikings last year and surrounding him with the talent that the Seahawks have done with Cooper Cup. The news is out there. Cooper Cup expected to sign with the Seattle Seahawks. These are dramatic, bold moves. You insert Cooper Cup who went to Eastern Washington is from the state of Washington. So what does this all mean for the Seahawks? It means that things are going to feel a bit different. The first thing I thought when all of this happened was what’s Seattle doing? There have been so many big moves that have been made so far. Seattle uh no longer the home of Tai Lockett. Uh he has been released by the Seattle Seahawks. He put out a very long uh letter to Seattle. He’s obviously synonymous with that place for lock. This one is a sentimental one. You and I both feel for this one. Tyler Locket gone. He was just a total package. Openness, separation, route running, hands, football IQ. Really special player. And now Tom Pelisero from NFL Network, the Arrow is reporting that DK Mechaf has requested a trade. All we had the Tyler Lockett news for like 10 minutes and then the DK stuff broke. This is big big news for the NFL for him asking out. There was discussions, you know, DK and I have were having very like a lot of personal discussions. I thought we could fix it, handle it, whatever it was. At the end of the day, it was a no and he wanted to be traded. Tylock is gone. Yep. DK Medaf going to be gone. It’s only a matter of time before that is a whole new, you know, operation. You’re losing your fan favorites here potentially. So, you’re going to have to rebuild. Like, that is going to have to be an actual thing. We’ll be keeping our eyes on that. They got a whole new vibe, probably whole new culture, whole new team. Just moments ago, the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with the Las Vegas Raiders on a blockbuster trade, sending their starting quarterback, Gino Smith, a two-time Pro Bowler, to Las Vegas. it became apparent that uh we weren’t going to be able to get a deal on. We had several guys we were interested in. Made the trade and were able to get the guy at the top of the list. Gino Smith turned into the type of quarterback that Seattle bet he would become. Wound up being a Pro Bowl quarterback and they trade him to the Raiders for a third round pick and then go sign Sam Darnold. So, you get a quarterback and you get an extra third round pick. These are moves that the Seahawks and John Schneider obviously felt would give this team a better chance to win moving forward. Well, this is exciting. This is um full house. This is great. Uh really excited to introduce Sam Darnold as a new quarterback and we got a lot of people in our building that have a history with Sam that have a lot of respect for him as a person. Going into my eighth year, you hear a lot about, you know, what the good organizations are, what the bad ones are. And um for me like this was always no matter who you talk to um that had been to Seattle um this was always a great spot to play [Music] [Applause] it touchdown into the end zone court touchdown. Very excited to just continue to you know hopefully play play good football play consistent. when you’re a young player, you think you can make every single play. So, yeah, I think the biggest thing that I’ve learned is to play consistent. No, it’s it’s been a great journey, man. And I wouldn’t trade any um any year for any other year. You know, it’s all been a part of the journey. Um and it’s all led me exactly to this spot. So excited to to just get this ball rolling here in Seattle. right side. Down. Down. Down here. We’re down here. Let’s go. Let’s go. I think that the calculus on the quarterback change makes a ton of sense. Making the bold decision to move on from a guy in Gino Smith who they were willing to commit to him. But when it became apparent to them that Gino Smith was not as convicted about being in Seattle as Seattle was about having Gino Smith there, they said, “You know what? we can get a third round draft pick and get a guy 10 years younger coming off a Pro Bowl season at age 27. Those are the types of deals that can, you know, set you up for years to come. There’s a ton of young talent on this team. A ton of talent in general. And we have a very, very mature group here that’s I feel like that are ready to learn and just ready to attack every single day um with everything they got. And that’s really all you can ask for. He gets his own team here and he’s bounced around the league from New York to Carolina to San Francisco to Minnesota. Now he’s had a chance to become more experienced, more seasoned, and Seattle should benefit from that. The more consistent I can be, I know I’m saying that word a lot, but um it’s true. The more consistent I can be on the field and off the field, um you know, the more um predictable I think I’ll be um with with the guys and they’ll know exactly what to expect every single day. And I’m not going to waver from that. Hawks on three. 1 2 3. What did you like about Samar? Well, there’s a lot of things to like really to a man. They just they first of all, they love the person. They love the leader, the teammate. Come from all these different angles from people in the building that have worked with him even all the way back to his to his uh USC days. And Clinton had a pretty great relationship with him, too. So, um you’re relying on him as well. So Clint’s a great dude and I’m very thankful for him for obviously the time that, you know, he spent with me in San Francisco. He helped me a ton. This is a great day for us as Seahawks. Um here to introduce Clint Kubak as our new offensive coordinator. All right. Thanks, Mike. When you’re hiring the leader of your offense, the the person is really, really important. Clint is the person uh as the man man of uh really high integrity, high high character, uh passion for the game, passion for his players, uh humility, uh just just really just really respect uh respect Clint as a person. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with his dad who uh who I work with for a year and just just a passion for the game, a passion for developing as players. Just have a lot of respect for Clint. Playing here is is one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL. You know, obviously playing here with in my Minnesota days in Denver and and San Francisco. Always a really uh tough crowd to play against. You know, the silent count’s always a huge part of the game playing process. A lot of uh excitement to get to play here on in the home side of it. The number one thing is that you better have more than one way to win. You know, we’re going to have an identity. It’s important that we can run the football that that we’re, you know, successful throwing team and we have to communicate that to the offense how how important it is to win as a team. Clint Kubak, your brand new OC joining us right now in studio live from Virginia Mason Athletic Center. I really enjoyed watching your film from last just a a blue collar kind of guy. Someone you want to work for, work with. Very cut and dry about what he wants, what he asks for out of his players. Just excited to to be able to play within his system. And then we got to find out what our guys do well and what we’re running on Sunday might might be totally different. You know, it’s all based off of of what they do well. A lot of talent, a lot of talented guys, you know, that’s going to be our our challenge as coach coaches is developing them and uh getting them up to speed with the scheme. Also going to be some new pieces we add to the roster that we’re going to coach. So, um, whoever those guys are that contribute to to our success on Sunday, you know, uh, we’re going to find out in the offseason and we’re going to we’re going to build on that together. there might be someone we’re not even talking about right now, you know. So, that’s the that’s the really fun part of coaching is that’s an important part of this time of year is identifying, you know, who are those guys that we want to bring on our team and make a part of this organization cuz there’s really important decisions. Awesome. Thank you. Welcome, man. How you doing? What’s going on, man? Just living life, you know. Yeah. Thank you. We’re pumped. Cooper was a guy that we identified. Jake Pet had uh coached with him or coached him in the past. So we we felt like we really knew the person, knew we’re getting into and you know he had like three four teams he was talking to and wanted to come home. So it was just a this is this going to be great for him. You know it’s um it’s like uncanny route runner. A lot of what like older scouts have told me about like Steve Large just the ability to read the defense, work with the quarterback, some natural natural feel. One of the most natural receivers. Yeah, it was just it was a huge get for us. If you would have said, “Look, we’re going to release Tyler Lockett.” Who would be a guy that could maybe replace him? That would be Cooper Cup. Yeah. And that’s that’s pretty high praise. We We love Tyler here. Tyler Lockett’s gone. DK Metaf’s gone. Sam Darnold throwing to Cooper Cup for the Seattle Seahawks. I kind of think it’s a smart bet. You know, I’ve been playing football for near 23 years now, and the arenas change, the um excitement around it changes, but I’ve loved the game the same from the first time that I stepped on the field to now. Cooper Cup. Oh, what a grab with a hand. That’s Cooper Cup. I really think it’s just been a God-given joy for playing football. And so, you know, my motivation ultimately at the end of the day is just to bring glory to him. When that focus is number one, that’s when I’m at my best and that’s when I’m enjoying football the most. And then as you get older, your life changes and you got you get married and you have a family. And you know, that inspiration, that perspective, I think that I get offered from my family. I think that’s one of the biggest things. We’re so excited to be back, you know, um, in the state that we grew up in. we just know that the community that we were going to get put in was, you know, a big part of why we were being moved and that’s community obviously with the team, it’s the community with the city. Um, and um, we’re so excited to be able to, you know, integrate into that. Yeah, we’re so excited to see how that community comes together and what it what it looks like and um, being able to invest back into those people as well. I’ve talked a lot about uh, memories and experiences. I mean, that’s kind of what that’s what football is, right? It’s like it’s it’s remembering all those big moments and we’re walking through the halls back here. It’s like looking at these photos of iconic I mean just moments in games and being able to recognize like man I remember where I was when that happened and that moment happened. And yeah, one one of my first games I came over here to watch the Green Bay Packers play against Seattle on a very blizzardy snowy night. This is the first time that we have had frozen precipitation or in this case now snow showers that started to sleep earlier. It’s also the coldest game in the history of Quest Field. Sean Alexander went off for a huge game. And Alexander has run for 201 yards. In this game, he looks like the MVP he was last year. It was a really cool experience. I grew up a Seattle fan until I found out bedtime was when the game ended. And then it was like then I just wanted I wanted overtime always. the twelves and like the fanaticism that like the twelves embody and we obviously knew about it growing up and then had to deal with it for the last eight years of having to like you know okay we’re going up to Seattle you’re going to have to deal with the incredible but crazy environment that’s created here at least for now just across the league people know you’re going to come to Seattle it’s going to be loud it’s going to be crazy to now be a part of it and have that behind you that’s going to be a really cool thing you know I’m I’m really looking forward to that and it’s a really cool thing to be able to be a part of. It’s a special thing. This whole full circle moment of being able to come back here and be a part of things in Washington State. So, it’s a really cool thing. [Music] He’s going to be great for for JSN. He’s going to be great for the whole team. But, you know, you think about a guy like JSN, it’s like the guy’s just like whatever he says is the ultimate worker. So, working in the middle of the field, like I said, setting people up. Those two guys working with each other are going to be really hard to defend with the tight splits and everything. I was very lucky early on in my career to have those guys that took me under under their wing and taught me how things worked and gave me those tips and tricks and techniques and things like that. And it’s been something where I wanted to also pass that along. Love watching you, man. Going up. I actually met Jackson his rookie year. where we played Seattle out of the gate first game and he came up and talked to me pregame and just introduced himself and you know I thought early on like I I’d watched his film when he was at Ohio State and always thought he was a very talented football player and then seeing talking with him a little bit there and hearing about the way that he goes about his business how he works and he’s got all the tools to be an incredible football player and you’ve seen that kind of start to blossom and you know he’s only going into year three now and he’s going to be that much better so I’m excited to be a part of just however it is to help you know give, you know, tips here and there, you know, things that I’ve discovered, techniques that I’ve used, and, you know, the best rooms, the best wide receiver rooms I’ve ever been a part of. There’s guys that play for each other. How you guys doing? Good. Wonderful. You know, there’s all the things that you want to do. You got the you got the diva room. If you can get that room under control and be in a place where you like, hey, we’re going to drive the bus. We’re going to set the tone. We’re going to set the standard. Everything falls into alignment. Everyone wants to be a part of a football team where guys are playing for each other. We got the right guys here to make that happen. [Music] [Music] They’re pillars for our football team. We knew they were going to be good, right? But it was like it happened so quick. Getting guys who love ball. We’re all here to accomplish one thing together. Like it’s the ultimate team sport. Jones. Let’s go. Let’s go.
Change is part of the game. Before the Noise Episode 1 takes you inside a whirlwind offseason of departures, signings, and the moves that set the tone—including the additions of QB Sam Darnold and WR Cooper Kupp—as the Seahawks begin a new chapter.

Let's go Hawks!!!
weird but somehow makes sense 🍒🧡
SEEAAA…!!!
So excited about this year! Let's goo hawks!!!
GO HAWKS💙💚
in MIKE MCDONALD i trust. GO hawks. 💙💚💙. GO Mariners. 💙⚾💙⚾💙⚾. Seattle Nation baby. Seattle all day Long.
I remember that Pete Carrol was interested in San Darnold cause he's from USC. Watched him in NC and almost took them to the playoffs and taking the Vikings last year so I'm glad he's a hawk now. Let's go!
Post the jerseys
I love this we need more content like this
I know better than to get all hype yet. One week at a time. Manage expectations
If this offense locks in we will be championship contenders
As a typical 12 that really "sports hates" the rams with every fiber of my being, I couldn't stand Cooper Kupp. Learning he has secretly been a Hawks fan the whole time turns that sports hate into sports love. Welcome home!
This is what im talking about!!! Keep this content coming.
About damn time we have some content 😂
Love the faith Kupp is showing! This season’s going to be special — a lot of analysts are sleeping on Seattle. Let’s go!
Hello. Overcome the madness. Sound precision, my brother. FOCUS.🫶🏼💚💙
We are so back
No more talking shit let's go 😊
Let Go Seahawks kick Some 49ers Butt!
Love this series. Let’s go boys!
12’s let’s bring the noise this season📢💙💚
I’m not sure how I feel about all the moves yet, I have some hope but I also have some doubts. I can see next season going very well or very poorly. I think it’ll mostly depend on if the offensive line has improved and if Klint can make adjustments if needed.
Super Bowl incoming 🏆🏆💍
I cant think of a spot id rather be a fan of. We got the JUICE this year!
Kupp looks in good shape, but JSN looked like a whole different beast at that Florida WR Workout
here we go!
Seahawks All Day!
Now that we have Kubiak to have control over the offense Coach Mike can really focus on the Defense and that's why we'll have the best Defense this year.
So glad JSN will be able to learn from Kupp instead of raging man baby DK
IVE ALWAYS WANTYED SAM DARNALD EVER SINCE THE JETS PICKED HIM LOL
then jalen milroe came out and i was like he is the next one i want lol now we got both!! with kupp and jaxon
