The Dallas Cowboys DAY 2 Training Camp Highlights Are NASTY… | Cowboys News |

Ladies and gentlemen, day two of the Dallas Cowboys training camp practices are officially here. So, get ready. We’re about to discuss the news, the notes, the highlights, the observations from another day here at practice. Before we dive in though, do me a big favor. You’re going to see some names at the top of the screen. Make sure you follow all these Dallas Cowboys reporters on X because they post highlights on literally everything. Every play of 11 on 111s and seven on sevens, they show you. So, if you want to feel like you’re at practice, go follow those names at the top of your screen. You will not regret it. And with that being said, hit the like button, subscribe. Let’s get into day two. Let’s go. Let’s have some fun. Okay, so day two during practice, I noticed very early on that Micah Parsons once again was not fully participating in practice with the Cowboys today. He was going through um some mental reps during individual, but never really put that helmet on. Obviously, he is trying to stay healthy. He’s trying to get a contract extension. He wants to be here, but yesterday came out and said, “Listen, they don’t want me. They don’t want me.” Right? But I guarantee you at some point in the near future, we’re going to see Michael Parsons get a contract done. At least I’m hoping so because he is a difference maker on this defensive line. But today uh was not able to uh fully participate in drills, but at least he’s here. Now, this man right here, Kyer Elam, a man they bring over from Buffalo, you know, a former high round pick. Now, what the Cowboys did this summer, this this off seasonason, was they brought in a bunch of guys that have high round talent. Okay? Now, yes, a lot of these guys have not panned out thus far. Ka Elam, Payton Turner, uh Kenneth Murray, and the list goes on, right? Even Jonathan Mingo, right? These guys have talent but haven’t put it together in the NFL yet. They believe that Kyler Elon, Kenneth Murray, some of these other guys are going to break out with the with the change of scenery. And so far, Kyrie Lam has been a major factor of this Cowboys defense thus far. As as long as Trayvon Diggs is out, Kyrie Elam is getting first team reps. And they believe they might have a star rising. Speaking of Trayvon Digs, here he is in the sidfield is at practice, just not in full participation. See some of the wide receivers in the background over there. CD Lamb, George Pickkins, those guys are always together building that chemistry. But Trayvon Digs should be back at some point soon hopefully. Right. You see Demarian over here, one of the best linebackers in football, trying to get healthy here. He will be healthy soon. Um, but yeah, Trayvon Diggs is here just on the side. Little bit more work from the wide receivers here as we see George Pickkins get some reps in with Dak Prescott. Really good route here. I love his overall body control in his catch radius. Look at him stop on a dime, turn back, and then go get that football, turn up the field. Once these pads come on, things are going to start getting really fun. However, doesn’t take away from the fact that today we will be getting some 11 on 111 and seven on seven work, which should be fun to watch. Overall, George Pickins seems to really change this dynamic of the offense going into next season and should be a major factor why Dak Prescott has a little bit more versatility and a new dynamic going into this season offensively. We also have the running back room, which is a major question mark. And you have a ton of guys here, uh, Javvante Williams, Miles Sanders, right? And then you still have Dvon. He’s been on the roster for a little bit now. I don’t know what his role is going to be. I mean, first of all, Miles Sanders, look at how look how quick he is. Oh my lord. That’s good for work by by him. Um Don also got very fast feet as well. Um here’s Jaden Blue. So Jaden Blue is an interesting player because over the past few days we’ve been hearing rumors that his offseason workouts have been lazy. And then he comes out and says that’s all a lie. Someone trying to get some clicks clicks whatever it may be. Yesterday comes around he gets some reps with the twos. Nothing significant happened with him. Phil Mafa got some reps. Uh it was mostly Javvante Williams and um Miles Sanders which and Dvon and Kavvonte Turpin actually got some reps as well as a running back. Um, but this running back room should turn over or turn out soon enough. Once those pads come on, that’s when you can really tell how good a running back is. And that’s what I’m waiting for to decipher which one of these guys is going to be uh big going into this year. We also got some pre-practice warm-ups here between the dynamic duo of CD Lamb and George Pickkins. I can already tell that this offense this year should be so much more explosive because when you look at these two guys specifically, let’s just say you line them up on opposite sides of the field, which is what they will do almost for a fact for certain, maybe even put Cavante Turpin in the slot. I mean, man, it’s going to be tough, right? But if you have these guys on the outside, these guys both dominate one-on-one matchups, which means you’re going to need to play two eye safety looks. If you don’t have two eye safeties, let’s say you’re in a midfield close where you have one safety in the deep side, the other guys up in the box stop trying to stop the run. Well, boom, you take a shot. Where if that safety doesn’t go, throw the ball, man. Let your wide receiver, George Pickkins or CD Lamb go get it. Um, and then vice versa, right? If they do run two deep safeties, run the ball. Run the ball with Javvante. Run the ball with Miles Sanders, Jaden Blue, Phil Mafa. It don’t matter, man. This team’s going to be so much different this year. That Cowboys offense actually got out to a really hot start. I do want you guys to keep in mind during these 111vens they aren’t allowed to tackle. The pads aren’t on yet. So, we can’t really fully take everything without a grain of salt yet. But great play here by Miles Sanders. Looks he goes through Looks like he goes through an arm tackle here. Look at the one cut ability. Goes through a tackle and then breaks up the field. I mean, this realistically could have just been a massive game there for Miles Sanders ultimately. We never really know when he would go down, but it looks to me as if there’s only one guy that is even close to tackling him here, and that is Donovan Wilson, but it looks like it might have just been an arm tackle. Now, if their pads are on, it might have been different. But overall here, Miles Sanders showing some explosive explosiveness and some one cut ability within this offense. Man, if they can find this Miles Sanders this season, it looks like a little bit of a read option, too. So, Dak really looking to run the ball this year, I don’t know. But definitely excited about Miles Sanders in this offense. Now, guys, we’re about to have a ton of footage here from 111s. Before we dive into it though, make sure you guys do me a big favor. Join the family. turn on post notifications and go follow the media members so you can basically be at practice. I mean, that’s what it feels like when I’m watching these. And uh with that being said, let’s dive back in. Another great play here. This one is from Tommy Yarish on Twitter. Make sure you guys go follow him as well. I mean, they post so many of these clips. So, here’s one. Looks like we’re under center with Dak Prescott. We’re going to go through a little bit of play action. Now, what we’re trying to do here is get these second level linebackers and even in some cases these safeties to bite up just a little bit. We’re going to see Jake Ferguson run a crossroad over the middle of the field here after the play action. Look at this. Right. Boom. We get in front of Jack Sambour. Let me move the screen a little bit. Look at Jack Samour bite up just a little bit. Just enough to allow Jake Ferguson to boom blow right by him. Dak steps up, throws a laser right to Jake Ferguson who gets up the field for a nasty pickup here. Again, offense looks good early on in this portion of practice. Um, which is a very good sign. So, it does look like the read options could be a focal point of this offense going into this season. We’ve also seen a lot of pre-nap motion by this Brian Shanheimr offense as well. This is one uh by Tommy Yar. Again, another guy who posts so many clips. So, this one’s a read option. All we’re looking at here is 53 off this edge, right? If he comes in, we might want to keep this thing, right? So, all we’re doing is reading him. We can also read 14 as well. Everyone’s going to head in this direction, kind of biting on that inside zone to the running back. And right when boom, they overcommit, we take it. Great job by Joe Milton. If you have a good outside wide receiver that is willing to put his body on the line, I mean, these could always be breakout type of plays, especially how um aggressive those edges play on those keepers. But ultimately, looks like Joe Milton would have picked up a few yards before getting taken down. Um again, they’re not allowed to hit Joe Milton, so he’s just going to, you know, celebrate down the field and uh you know, act like he had a massive gain, which it could have been. Could have been. We see if 81 would have made that block. if he wouldn’t have tackled him, right? But ultimately could see a lot of read options this year. Okay, in practice today got a little bit intense. Maris Bell and I don’t know who the offensive player is here. I just can’t tell. Um but man, did they get into it really pushing that fence back with the fans and Brian Shanahimer comes out of nowhere and says, “Hey, if we get into another scuffle like that, you’re being thrown off the off the field, right?” And obviously that could really take a hit on your uh your practice. So listen, they’re getting Chippy out here. Oh, someone threw a punch here. Let’s watch this one more time. Look it right there. Look at this. He threw a punch. He was getting up in there again. It’s not very smart to throw a punch with someone or to someone with a helmet on, but know sometimes it just be like that with these practices, man. It I mean the number one thing we’re looking at here, competitive, man. They’re being competitive out there. Every rep means the world to them. All right, here’s an interesting one. Um, I talked about a little bit earlier. Seen a lot of priest that motion here. Now, on this play, we’re going to priest that motion over CD Lamb. Um, now they’re running a little bit of a screen for him. So, what we’re going to notice very quickly here is once we get set, we’re going to get these guys out kind of in space and try to just get CD Lamb the ball. Let him work, right? to see what he can do in space. Get the ball early to him. Gets up the field. Good blocking. Now, that’s the only potential tackle I saw. So, this was a big play. And CD Lamb can make guys miss in the open field just like that. This ultimately could have been a touchdown. Like, in an actual game, this worked out very well. So, again, let’s watch it one more time. Let’s look for potential tackles because again, they’re not tackling right here. I don’t think 41 gets him. Uh 41 might have got him. 41 might have got him there. Don’t know. That might have been a tackle. Other than that, maybe Donovan Wilson has the angle there probably. But then up here, I don’t think anyone would have got him. What a move. What a move by Dante Fowler. Um but yeah, trying to get some more pre-esty motion might lead to more screens. Here’s another one. More pre-esty motion from CD Lamb. Now again, what they’re trying to do is make it easier for Dak. Once you see no one really rotate over, like normally if it’s man coverage, they’ll put the best man cover corner on CD. So, he’ll actually rotate with him. In this case scenario, no one rotates over. So, we can kind of assume that it might be zone coverage. Now, when we snap this ball, we’re going to get a late release here by the tight end. And boom, look at this. Over the middle, find our tight end, 87, Jake Ferguson. Now, whenever you’re running this quick shallow cross or a slant over the middle, all we’re trying to do is fit the zone or find the zone. They’re going to send a blitz here. So, uh Dak Prescott gets the ball out super early and then Jake Ferguson makes a play in space. Maybe gets about 8 to 10 yards. And good job just finding the open man. Take what the defense gives you. And when they send six, man, there’s going to be openings in this defense. And right in the middle, Dak gets it out early enough. Beautiful job by the offense. Here’s a ball from Joe Milton to Jonathan Mingo. Perfect placement. DB never turns his head around and this drops into the bucket. Really good contested catch here by Jonathan Mingo through contact as well. Mingo is a guy they traded a decent pick uh to last year. I believe the Panthers, right? Traded a decent pick away for Jonathan Mingo. They expect him to be obviously not a focal point of this offense. You have Pickkins and Sidi, but who’s the number three? Is it Jaylen Tober? Is it Jaylen Brooks? Is it Mingo? Is it Turpin? Is it Paris Campbell? Jaylen C. I mean, there’s so many guys here that can compete for that number three job. Who do you guys think in the comments down below? You know, something I absolutely love is if you guys notice, look at Cavante Turpin in the back field, right? Once that ball’s thrown, he’s like, “Hey, let’s go.” He knows this is going to be caught. I mean, I love the celebration from the teammates, but the pre-ceelebration is crazy. Crazy there by Kvante Turpin. love him as a player and I think he’s going to be uh he’s going to be huge for this offense as well. Now, overall, today was an intense practice, guys. I am going to end it here, but tomorrow we should have even more coverage for you guys. Hit the like button, subscribe if you’re new, join the family, turn on post notifications. That way, you’re notified every time we post one of these videos. Follow the reporters, whether it be Sleeper Cowboys or whether it be uh Joseph Hoy or whoever it may be, right? Tommy Yish, u everyone. So, go follow them if you haven’t already done so. And I’ll see you guys in tomorrow’s update.
