Giants vs. Braves Game Highlights (7/23/25) | MLB Highlights
Little drizzle in the morning, but the skies are clearing up. Put that umbrella away. We’ve got baseball this Wednesday afternoon. Spencer Strider on the mound for the Braves. A little business fan special as Atlanta looks to clinch the series over the Giants and secure a happy flight home. Spencer’s been on a nice little run as of late. He certainly has and throwing the baseball very well and good to see. And velocity seems like it’s in a really good spot. The strikeout rate over his last few have been really good. Kind of getting closer and closer to that career mark that he has had. And we’ve seen the good version of Spencer Strider. We’d like to see it again here this afternoon to win this series. He’ll started by facing Elliot Ramos. Payoff pitch to Ramos right on the outside corner. And we start this mat with a little frozen pizza. Somebody tell Ramos because he was unbuckling all of his protective gear. Raphael Devers climbs in. Another line drive off the bat of Rafi Des. That was a fast ball and he turned it around. Seen a lot of that recently. Devers is bored with the first hit of the game for the Giants. Here’s a board for William Damas to third. Nacho almost looked like he lost his footing a little bit, but he recovers and makes the play and decides to take the safe play and go ahead and not be a hero and trying to turn to. So, a few control issues for Strider. Bases are loaded. Backto back two out walks. And now Casey Schmidt comes to the plate. He got the party started for the Giants last night. Out to left center. Proar back and over. He’s got it. And Strider is able to get out of it unscathed. So the bases were loaded, but Strider gets through it. No runs, one hit, no errors, and three men left on base. The veteran right-hander Justin Verlander. Yeah. And he’s just trying to get off the Schneidies. 0 and8. Not what you’re used to seeing out of Atlanta, but what he’s trying to do is just get a quality start going for him. Out to right center out number one. Furlander who got ahead of Olen 02 ultimately walks him now facing Drake Baldwin. Another left-handed batter. Got him. Slider and Baldwin was like, “Do I have to go back to the dugout?” That was a really nice pitch there. The sequencing was good. slowed him down, sped him up, slowed him down, and then a real nice tight slider. And it’s ball four low and in. Back to that slider. And again, Burlander misses his third walk of the inning. He’s now at 34 pitches. So, here’s Harris batting left-handed. Hits that one out to right center. Yreky will square up and after all that, the Braves do not score. Second inning, nothing nothing. Giants and Braves. Dominic Smith slaps it to left profar. He caught it. Maybe not how you draw it up, but it’s an out all the same. And you’re coming in and trying to put on the break sort of. And then yeah, you know what? Maybe I stopped too early. I got to dive for this one. You’ll take the outs anyway that you can get him. Even a little bit of a smile there from Spencer Strider. Would have been a walk if not for it being a hit by pitch and Eli White will shake it off and head down to first base. So two down for Proar. He got the whole thing started. sort of set the tone in the first inning even though he made an out. What was it? Eight pitches far to left. Ramos will catch it and Verlander a nice second inning of work. Well, Verlander much better second inning, but Strider same deal. See if the Giants now second time through. Ramos drills it down the left field line. That’s a fair ball. And that was I think either touched by a fan or bounced up over the That’s a blind spot for us. It’s an automatic double for Ramos. A runner at second. Announced Devers to the plate. And this is the exact situation the Giants want. Swing and a miss. So Strider gets behind Devers but comes back to get him. Good bounce back by Strider. Boy, that was a good pitch. He buried that one down and in. And now Adavas who had the big four hit game on Monday with a homer. Get over there Aussie. He will. Double play. No. Ramos scurrying back. So he gets readjusted. Meanwhile, Chapman climbs in. Fast ball that gets Chapman and it gets Strider out of the top of the third and he gets through the jam after the leadoff double. And the narrative in this game early, stranded runners. And that is his third walk allow that puts runners at first and second and just one down. Batter will be Patrick Bailey. Pretty good slider right there to take care of Patrick Bailey. Best two pitches of the day. That pitch right there and the one he struck out devers on. So now it’s in the hands of Luis Mtos who bats ninth in the Giants order. No score. Top of the fourth. Another strikeout. Strider did let it eat. 96 to get Moss. And in the inning backto-back strikeouts of Bailey and Moss as Strider keeps him stranded at first and second. Nacho Alvarez Jr. right-handed batter out to left. Ramos is going to dive and catch it. What a play. Went Superman with it. What a great way to end an inning. That was a heck of a catch. Man, what an effort from the Giants left fielder and it’s Justin Murlander’s first one, two, three inning. Braves nothing, Giants nothing into the top of the fifth inning. Top of the order for San Francisco. Yes, frozen pizza. Six strikeouts, three in a row now for Strider. Absolute paint here. You do not throw it any better than that. And here’s Devers who’s one for two with a single and a strike out. Devils hooks that one down the right field line. White turning around. It’s gone. Divers. Man, he got like 70% of that one and he still hit it out. Raphael Devers homers here in the top of the fifth. The game’s first run and the Giants take a one- nothing lead. The Giants, they finally do it with Verlander pitching. Give him a run. Denver’s 18th home run of the year. His third with the Giants. It is another base runner here for the Giants. And now Matt Chapman with one on, one out. The Giants leading one to nothing. Chapman drills one to right field. White will watch it and it is gone. Matt Chapman second home run of the inning for the Giants. A two-run homer. And it’s 3 nothing here in the fifth. He gets that 2-1 fast. gets his 14th home run, his 38 RBI’s now. And we talk about when he’s got a good swing, he’s got a lot of power to right field. And it flies that way in this ballpark. And again, another nice back spinner here. And this is a no doubter right off the bat. He knew he got it. We go to the bottom of the fifth. Giants on top three to nothing. Justin Verlander throwing a no hitter through four. Is that one going to get down at fair ground? Yes, it will. Eli with a wide turn. He’ll hold it first. First hit of the game for Atlanta. Maybe that’s a start of something big here in the drizzle. Lander off of his first one, two, three inning, but now right back into the stretch where he has spent much of the day. Runner goes called strike three and safe. White able to steal the bag. Verlander does get the out on the strikeout. So a third walk to Olsen. And look, this has worked so far today for Verlander. He’s walked Olsen every time. But then he’s been able to take care of Baldwin right behind him. Struck him out swinging. Justin Verlander. He’s had to battle today, but has given the Giants now five shut out innings. Three to nothing Giants. Onto the sixth inning, and both teams will go on to the bullpin this inning. Braves will bring on Dylan Dodd. Just recalled today. So there’s one of those swings. A base hit for Ramos. Ronto stops at second. keeps that line moving and brings up a a hot bat, which is exactly what you want to do as a leadoff guy. You watch the last swing that DeS had and you wonder what what happens when he really gets into one. Runners go. Divers launches one out to right field. Eli White back and gone. Second home run of the game. It’s 6 nothing Giants. And I know that one felt good. Yeah. 19 number 19 and 73 on the stakes. And he gets that cutter. We we just mentioned it sends it deep into right center field and stretches this one out. That’s a big swing of the bat right there. Chapman at third now. Yusky at second. One out. Dom Smith will be the hitter. Dom lines it into right field. Base hit. Yreky had to hold to make sure it wasn’t going to be caught. So that’ll only score one. But Chapman and the Giants make Dunning pay for hitting him. He scores a run. It’s 7 nothing. But right now it’s kind of like the Braves are fighting the way the Giants have been fighting. They’re getting some less than quality starts from their starters and having to eat up some innings out of that bullpen that’s been pretty vulnerable. And now it’s Aaron Bummer’s job to try to get out of this first and third one out pickle up the middle. Bummer knocks it down. Picks it up. He’ll throw to first low and Olsen scoops it out to get the out, but Ystreky comes in to score. So Bailey gets the RBI and it’s eight nothing. Two down for Moss. Mtos line drive base hit. He smashed that one and that’ll score Dom Smith. It is nine to nothing Giants. So they’ve put that sloppy performance on Monday night in the rearview mirror. Played two of their best games here the last couple games. And the Braves have Jelly in another jam. That’ll bring Drake Baldwin to the plate. Drake Baldwin is 0 for three. He had no luck versus Justin Verlander. Verlander finished with three strikeouts and two of them were against Drake. But now the base is loaded. Left field. Stay fair. It will. It bounces up for a ground rule double. It will score two and the Braves are on the board. Just did keep it fair down the left field line. Nice job of hitting by Drake Baldwin. It’s now a 92 Giants lead here in the seventh. Still just one out. Two in scoring position for Murphy. Well, that’ll get another one home. Murphy with his 39th RBI of the season. And it’s nine to three as Matt Olsen comes across the plate and scores. Bottom of the ninth inning. 9 to3 Giants, three outs away from making it back-to- back wins here in Atlanta to finish off the road trip. And it will be Tyler Rogers coming in to do the pitching and he will face Marcel Ozuna who will pinch hit leading off the ninth in what could conceivably be his last at bat in a Braves uniform. Who knows at least at Truis Park. Oo yep, we’ll take it. So now Rogers benefits from the wide zone we’re seeing here late. 93 Giants bottom of the ninth. Oo, a rare one that was missed by Rogers, but Adamus cleans it up, throws out Baldwin. There was a hole in that glove, Tyler. That’s what happens when you don’t pitch much. The hand eye goes away. Oh, well, it’s going to be a different feeling flight going back home after a really nice final two days here in Atlanta. Justin Burlander, he did it. Congratulations. Congratulations.

Great game let’s keep the momentum going! Guys are finally getting hot
Verlander with his first W as a giant!
OH MY GOD GIANTS! Can’t believe we won the series & congratulations to Verlander on HIS FIRST WIN EVER IN A GIANTS GEAR!! I was expecting that we could lose the series BUT NO, he seriously had it for HIS VERY FIRST TIME!! UNBELIEVABLE!! Also, can’t believe Devers put on a show by hitting TWO HOME RUNS this game which helped us win this game!! Safe travels back home & I’ll be at this Fridays game 7/25 against the Mets & hope Webb has it! Keep up the outstanding work & GO GIANTS & ONE MORE TIME FOR VERLANDER!!
Did the Atlanta announcer say the Braves were looking for a "series clincher" and "happy flight home??" They have had the absolute worst announcers since at least the 80's.
Two in a row! Back from vacation Giants!
Has anyone told Strider his pants aren’t supposed to be half way up his ass?
20 minute gang
Raffy starting to feel it giants baseball is about to be a lot more fun
The giants are looking for something in the past few years as a team, something old or new, something special
How did devers hit that out 😂
That first homerun by Devers…would depress that heck out of me as a pitcher. Cannot believe he hit that out!!
How did that ball fly out of the park with that RD poke?
WE’RE BACK
Devers is warming up. Looks healthy now.
Verlander is off the Snide!
Raffy ❤❤❤
I feel a nice second half finally coming up for the Giants!
Verlander's first and ONLY win with Giants. Sorry, but.. washed. He's gotta go
벌랜더 시즌 첫승 ㅠㅠ 진행자들도 축하하는구만
Hopefully thia jump starts him but the 1st inning was rough. He has to get better. Giants cant afford for his 2nd half to be like the 1st unless Giants want to miss playoffs. IMO Gianrs need to fill 2 sopts in the rotation. Verlander & Birdsong. I cant believe Giants called up Hjelle! Send Hjelle back down & bring back Beck!!
Devers, Chapman and Adames gonna carry this team to the playoffs.
Stay hot, boys!
Stop job by Roupp followed up by Verlander 1st W.
The bottom of the rotation coming through sets the Giants up to go on a heater. The bats finally waking up
Why is Sean Hjelle still on the team? The guy has a 1.8 whip. Send that goober back to the minors
Wait, the Giants can hit??? It seemed for the last two months that wasn’t allowed!
🎆🎉everything changes with a JV win! 🤞😉🎈🎊
Devers is warming up
Both sides of the broadcasting nailed it !
Wonder if playing first helped Raffy kinda reset his mind?
And the little break?
I just got back into baseball the last couple years and this year has been so fun too watch.
Happy flight!
