Why so many Achilles tears in the NBA this season? 🤔 | Hear District Ep. 71
I’ve never seen so many Achilles and we’ve had seven this year. I’m trying to remember one teammate of mine in Milwaukee that had an Achilles. This is a careerending injury in a lot of cases. How much do the shoes matter? I don’t think it’s the shoes. I remember back when everybody used the gum rubber soul and nobody had these injuries. So, pace of play doesn’t factor into this. That’s just conditioning. But are they getting enough water? You can cramp which will cause a pull which will cause a rupture. as soon as they put all this weight lifting in, but your muscles will get bigger and stronger, but your ligaments and your tendons will hold the stress from that. They do not get bigger and stronger. They do not expand. They rip. I I got to give the Bucks credit because Giannis had a situation in April of 2024. And it’s a solius. They didn’t rush him back. You’ve got to have that medical staff that’s looking at the long game. All these other guys, I think they’re trying to rush coming back from these surgeries. You need arrest. First
Poor nutrition, lifting too much weight to many times a day, not stretching enough or following strength and condition guidelines
Is the lack of stretching and exercise before the basketball games I just need more on the highest level that they are the best competitors at the sports I'm not going to take from that but the ones that don't stretch and all that you just can't keep going out there and playing at that high caliber and not stretching and exercising before the game
It's probably due to AAU
It’s from Covid
Its due to everything I already didn't like about the NBA already. Now give me $1000000000 @nba
All his teammates had their Achilles’s removed prior to joining the Bucks. #legendary
Could be damage done in AAU, could be the training, pace of play has to be a factor the number of explosive cuts and jumps per game has to be 10 fold what it was 30 years ago.
The amount of injuries I’ve seen while a player was WALKING this season is crazy. Do some damn conditioning
Stop tensing before you come lol 🤣
I only wanna hear a MD or podiatrist not a coach
Dame’s was literally so avoidable as well, it happened as he was trying to make a hustle play
it is the shoes. old shoes didnt have as much traction, so when a player would get into a highly dorsiflexed position it wouldnt grab to the court and overload the achilles, it would let the foot slide to get the leg to the position it wanted to naturally be in.
It’s the weight of the athlete. Bigger faster stronger.
Lack of practice
Thats what happened to LeBron when he was on the Miami Heat he would cramp up A LOT! And then 1 summer he lost a bunch of weight about a good 20-40 pounds just to be a lot lighter on his ligaments and not get those hamstring/calf cramps he would get.
All three of them wore #0
When MJ Started His Shoe's Awesome Over Ankle Comfort & 100% Strength FOR THE ANKLE.
It’s the extension of the game to and beyond the 3pt line, essentially the Stephen Curry-effect. At no other time in NBA history were players having to play defense as intensely beyond the 3pt line. That layer of play extends the amount of movement for players by anywhere between 45-65% more steps every game depending on who they are playing. Cumulatively, their season is likely the equivalent of playing 25+ extra games every season.
