MLB LIVE🔴 Tampa Bay Rays vs Chicago White Sox – Jul 23, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

Hello baseball fans and welcome. We bring you Wednesday night baseball on the show. It’s the Chicago White Socks taking on the Tampa Bay Rays. And now, first pitch coming at you right after Tampa Bay Ray. Just about ready to roll. Our starter in this one, Zack Latell. Well, he’s been a very dependable starter for his club. And what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him. And it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball. Maybe it’s the release point. Maybe it’s the motion, but just some way somehow they’ve got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side. And ball one. Next offering is in for a strike. See if you can go upstairs a little bit. Make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading to count one, two, don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you get hurt. Spoils that one and it remains two and two. Pretty good pitch there to take a rip at. He wants to get his arms extended. He likes the ball away from him a little bit. Just not able to square it up. Tuckman is gone. He’s out. Time to check out the lineup for the White Socks. And so far this year, this has not been a very good offense. Well, in this day and age, if you can’t slug and get on base, that OPS has to be at a certain level. If you’re going to produce runs, give your pitchers an opportunity as they’re facing tough offenses as well. Chase Maid steps to the plate for the White Socks. Maid getting to start at third. 23 years old and he was drafted in the fourth round in 2022. Back to the mound. He’s got it. Handles throws the first. Two quick outs in the top of the first here tonight. Batting third, the left fielder number 23, Andrew. Two down, base is empty. Ben and Tandy up here. Just missed. One ball. Two out. Space is empty. A rope into right. And that’s a base hit. Batting four, the first baseman, Miguel. And here’s the first baseman, Miguel Vargas. Come on, Zack. And that’s in there at the knees for a strike. What do you say now? Check swing called strike and it’s 0 and two. caught him looking for the K. The White Socks leave one. Now it’s the Rays turn. No score. You’re dialed into the show. And we’re back. And on the mound today, Adrien Howser. Well, that whip is just below the league average, and that’s a good thing in this case, not allowing too many base runners. So, on most days, he’s going to go out there and compete and put his team in a position to win. And I expect to see that from him in this one today. Here’s the center fielder, number 14. There’s nobody on in front of him. You know, a single for him many times is a double. This guy is off to the races, ready to steal a bag when he’s on first base. Not even close there. And that’s ball one. Gets the slider in there for a strike. And he lays down a punt. Grabs it bare-handed. Throw to first, but he beats it out. And the leadoff man is on with an infield single. His speed was just clearly the difference on this play. I mean, he laid down the bunt as far away from first as possible and flew down the line. Almost got him, but not this time. La at the plate. All right. And immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Brandon. Rightander kicks. Deals. There’s a swing and he drives way back there. See you later. Home run number 20 on the year. Just like that, they move in front. It’s two nothing. That’s a fun way to take the lead. Just hit one out of the park. Well, I’m not really sure how he kept that fair. When you’re out in front on a breaking ball like that, such a good chance that it’s going to hook foul, but not this time. He kept the hands moving forward just long enough to sneak it inside that foul pole. That’s hard hit on the line. Ben Tendy calls it in and there’s one away. All right, let’s take a look at the Rays lineup. And Chris, this group has been struggling to put up runs lately. Well, they haven’t been on base a ton. And even when they are, they haven’t been hitting very well with the runners on base. So, they need a player or two to really step up, have some quality at bats, hit according to the situation, and sort of break out of this. I think if they do, the rest of this lineup will follow. And it’s fouled away. One down. Base is empty. And there’s a ball. Good slider down and in can be so hard to get on plane with. You’re better off taking that pitch. The 1-1 is fouled off. Fouled off the plate. They’ll do it again. Just misses with that one. Still only one out here in the inning. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Two gone. Oh, that’s pretty much the dream. Two strike curve ball if you’re the pitcher. Hard downward break at the very end that just dips below the swing path. And they say pitchers want to try to bounce that pitch right on top of the plate. So that was exactly what he was looking for on the mound. Junior Camro stands in with two away as he takes a ball. And that’s a base hit. And that keeps the inning alive. That exists. The right the batter now Josh Low. Whoa. And first offering is fouled off. Camero off of first with two away. Next pitch is outside. That’s a little bit low. That’s one you always want as a pitcher. Down at the knees and it looks to me like he’s barking. That’s a strike. Doesn’t change the call, but sometimes it helps to let that frustration out a little bit. Oh, right to the back stop. So, a wild pitch allows the runner to advance. two outs. Gets a piece and stays alive. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Three balls, two strikes, the count. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. On the ground to the left and it goes just foul. Foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. About to see the 11th pitch of the at here and ball forward to a board. When you go that deep into a bat, the hitter usually comes out on top. And seven. No left fieldielder. First and second, two outs. Jake Mangum will hit next. Trying to get the raise of the board out towards right center. That’s well struck way back there. And that one is going to go. It’s their second home run of the inning. And they throw three on the board. It’s five zip. He only needed one swing to square it up. Not wasting any time in that at bat. Aggressive and paid off. When you’re working with this kind of velocity, so critical that you move the ball around, work quickly, and make sure that you keep that hitter off balance. Clearly not fed by the location or the velocity. He was all over that fast. So, two down. Hassan Kim next to hit for the Rays. There’s the strike. Well, it’s not the inning he was planning on to begin this start, but you’ve got to find a way to shake things off and give your team some length and put up some zeros. Two down on swing and a ground ball base hit right field. Batting Knight, the catcher, Matt. And at first, Matt Fice comes up to hit here. First pitch misses. One ball. No strike. Pickoff throw and he’s back safely. And the one. There’s the swing in a miss. One ball, one strike. Just missed. That one fouled off. Two and two. Inside just missed. 3-2, two out, runner on first. Lot of movement in the infield. Hitters got to stay focused on the pitch. Fouled off again and it remains three and two. Battling here as he fouls it away. So now two on and two outs. Oh, looking for a swing anding miss right there or for the ump to help him out and make a call with that last pitch, but neither happened. Close pitch, but a good take to earn that wall. Now the White Sox manager is out of the dugout and will make a move to the pen. Adrien Howser gives way and this is one he’d like to forget. Back with a new arm after this. now pitching for. So, out of the pen comes the right-hander Sean Burke. I think it’s got to be a little tough coming in out of the pin when your guys are trailing so big on the scoreboard. Just doesn’t have the same intensity to it. But he’s got to find a way because these batters count the same for the stats obviously regardless of the score. So, the lineup flips over. Here’s the Rays leadoff hitter in there for strike one. Activity in the pen for the White Socks. Dan Alavilla, the hardthrowing righty, is up and loosening. Next offering is fouled back. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. That missed by a lot. Now one and two. Two aboard, two outs. And that one is inside. Swang and a ball lifted in the air. Benendi and that is that. But two round tripers in this inning. The long ball was working and the lead is now 5 nothing. Major League Baseball is on the show. Second inning, set to go. And now the catcher comes up to him. Kyle Teal back to work. And that one just misses a ball and no strikes. I’m sure he likes the 5-0 lead and the rund support, but he’s sat around a lot since warming up in the pin. And you’d hate to see a guy not have his rhythm to go out there and have a great start. comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt. That one back up the middle and it gets through. Man aboard on the leadoff single. Batting six the center field Luis Robert now. Roberts. And there’s the strike. Oh, and one. Teal aboard here at first with nobody out. Next offering is in for a strike. Quickly into an 02 count. Both pitches were down in the zone. And I think you set your sights a little bit higher because you’ll have a tendency to chase if you look down in that area. The delivery to Robert rolled to short. Possible two ball. Good feed. That’s one. And that’s two. They made that double play look so easy, but it was far from routine. That’s the one thing about big lingers. They make tough plays look simple. Two outs, space is empty. So up next for Chicago, Coulson Montgomery. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Well, the key to his success is getting ahead early in the count. He cannot afford to go deep in the counts. Doesn’t have a ton of swing and miss stuff, so he’s going to have to work efficiently. Batting the designated hitter, runner first with two away. And here is Sosa to the plate. That one finds the zone. It’s one strike. And a bat like this is almost over as it begins. In this situation, you have no idea what the next pitch is going to be. You just got to hope that you can make contact. Out to short. Kim tosses to first. That’s the third out. So, it’s no runs on two base hits, no errors, and one left on base. Now to the bottom of the second. It’s the Rays five and the White Socks nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. And now it’s Brandon. Brandon. Wow. And the first pitch misses for ball one. One and0. And another ball. Well, usually a high level of confidence when you’re facing a young pitcher out there on the mound. In this situation, ahead 20, he’s put himself in a really good spot. And a ground ball to first. Vargas steps on the bag. One up, one down. Fast right down the middle. Usually a lot of damage done with that pitch. a hard grounder, but he wanted to get that ball in the air, maybe drive it into the gap. Yandi Diaz now he’s 0 for one. Tap foul at the plate. This to third. might drop already. Two out here in the home half of inning number two. Good late bite on that slider. Got the hitter out in front. Rolled over on it. Exactly what he was supposed to do. So next to the plate for Tampa Bay, Jonathan Aranda. His first at bat was a strikeout. Tampa. Ball one there. One ball. No strike. just missed. Well, he looks more focused at the plate and working the count after that first at bat strikeout. Tulo and it’s ball three. And that’s ball four. Tried another slider, but it missed the plate. Four pitches. That’s an easy walk, man. He could have walked me right there. That one wasn’t even close. Two outs, runner at first. And stepping in for the Rays. Junior Camro. One for one with a single and a run scored so far. That one almost got him. Maybe losing command a little bit after the walk. Next pitch. Not even close. Aranda, the runner at first with two gone. Right through there for a strike. That one close rule the ball and the count. Two on one. Squirts away a little bit. bounced up the middle. Rohas throws on to first. That is the inning. One left for Tampa, but they hold a five nothing lead. New inning getting started. Here’s Josh Rojas. This is a guy who’s in the lineup first and foremost because of what he contributes defensively, Chris. And when you talk about preventing runs from being scored, this guy is a big contributor. Swinging a ground ball up the middle and a quick out. Number one, the batter, the right fielder Mike Tman. Here’s Mike Tachman. Definitely classify Tman as a one of those gritty players willing to do whatever. Get on base, get around the bases. And first offering is fouled off. That’s down and in. One ball, one strike. that one in the dirt now. Two and two. Right through there. Got him. Two away. Well, that’s a pitch that slider from an opposite handed pitcher that you usually see very well, but for some reason he didn’t pick it up and it just kind of got into the strike zone late. Gave up on it a little bit early. My draw stands in now and watches strike one. If I’m at the dish right now, I am aggressive over the heart of the plate. This guy’s been filling up the strike zone. So, you know you’re going to get a good pitch to hit. And as nasty as a La sends it to first and the White Socks go quietly. One, two, three, go the White Socks. It’s 5 nothing. Back here at Chana Field. Set for the bottom of the third. Now up for Tampa Bay. Josh Low. And first offering is fouled off. Well, these Rays really impressed me with the quality of their at bats in this one. It’s been fun getting a chance to see him go to work. They jumped all over the starter and knocked him out of the game early. He just was never able to settle in and the damage was done by the time he got the hook. I mean, when you’re chasing the opposing starter in the first inning or two, that’s just such a tone setter for the game, and it puts the other team back on their heels, and it instills a lot of confidence in your lineup from top to bottom. Strike three. Got him looking on the change up. Now batting at the plate, Jake Mangum. He’s already homerred here in this one. Just missed. One out. Base is empty. Yeah, a big swing and a miss. Man, he really sells the change up with that arm action. Swagging a ball hit out towards left center field. And no one can get there around first. Heading for two. Throw to second. Not in time. He’s there easily. Really nice job of two strike hitting in that at bat. That can be a dangerous pitch if you don’t get it inside enough because as a hitter, you see it coming across the plate the whole way. No problem handling it and putting a good swing on it that time. One out, runner at second. Kim now at the plate. One for one with a single so far, but a short stop takes the ball. One out and a runner at second. You’re in the last half of the third. That one not close. Two balls, no strikes. Yeah, that’s fouled off man at second. And that’s way high. And it’s a full count. Cut on and lifted in the air. Benendi ranging after it. Makes the catch and there are two down. The catcher number 34, Matt Ths. Matt Ths next to hit for the Rays. Worked a walk in his first trip to the plate. Let’s go. Delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. Man on second, two down. Missed with a change up. One and one. One strike to the right side and that one handled. Tosses to first and that is the inning. So no runs here in a base hit. No errors and one left. Three innings complete. It’s the Rays five and the White Socks nothing. Back now in Tampa Bay, John Shambi with Chris Singleton. And set to lead off the fourth, Andrew Benendi. upstairs. Ball one. That’s a ball. Strike one. Next offering is fouled back. Here we go. Two two now. Got him looking and he didn’t like the call. Wow, that’s a tough call for the hitter, but the pitcher will take that all day long. not quite in the strike zone, but he found a spot that the umpire is going to at least for now allow him to get that call. So, hitters are going to have to make an adjustment, but pitchers are going to learn from those things and really try to exploit them if they can. Now, here is Miguel Vargas. Foul ball. Oh, two and one. Fouls one off. Two and two. The Rays leading by five. Top half of inning number four. That misses. Countdown on the ground to third. Camero tosses across the first. Two quick outs here in the top of the fourth. The catcher number eight, Kyle Teio. Two down, base is empty. Now a chance for Kyle Teal. A single his first time and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Teal in his rookie season, 23 years old, and they went out and made a trade for him last season. Pinch misses and now it’s even. One and one. That one missed. That’s to third. Fires across the diamond and he has thrown four shut out innings. Nothing doing here this half. We’re midway in the fourth. It’s the Rays five and the White Socks nothing. Now pitching for White Sox going with a new arm. Jonathan Cannon. He’s been so good against lefties. Canon. So the batting order turns over. Here’s the Rays leadoff hitter. One for two. Simpson. And first offering is fouled off. And strike two. Got him looking. That’s a strikeout. So, next to the plate for Tampa Bay, Brandon La. He’s already homerred in this game. Wow. And that’s in for a strike. Base is empty, one away. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. swing and a miss and that’s strike two. Definitely not a pitch location you’re expecting up there as a hitter when you know the guy’s got a good sinker ball. If he can get in that location, boy, you’ve got to look top to bottom and that’s going to make it very difficult to hit. And that one almost got him. swing and a highf fly ball out towards right field. Hauls it in for the out. That’s out number two. The batter number two, designated hitter. Next is the designated hitter, Yandi Diaz. Goal for two in this one. looked like it was a little bit up. One and0. Two and0. That’s in there now. Two and one. Got the bat going too soon. It’s strike two. Two balls. Two strikes. That’s way outside and the count’s full. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. Two outs. Line drive and that should be extra bases around first and hustling for second. And that’s a two bagger. Showed a lot of fight with two strikes in that AB. And man, I’ll tell you, a line drive like that into the gap just feels so good. It’s feedback that you have everything on time and in control from start to finish with your swing. So, runner at second, two down. A getting ready to hit. He is struck out and he is walked. And there’s a ball. One ball go straight. Two outs and one in scoring position. That one fouled off. pitches outside and the swing miss. Good late sink on that fast ball out of the hand. Looks so good. And then by the time he gets in the hitting zone, hard to get the barrel to it. That’s to third. Zips it to first. And that is that. No runs, one hit, no errors, and a man left. We played four. It’s the Rays five and the White Socks nothing. Ready now for the fifth inning. And now the center fielder, Luis Robert Jr. Roberts Latell back to work outside and that’s ball one. You know, these White Socks just aren’t putting great swings on the baseball in this one. They’re trying to find ways to drive the ball with some authority, but it’s just not happening for him so far. Zero extra base hits in the game, so it’s been tough for him to get anything going. Sometimes you have to keep chipping away until you break through. But it’s a lot easier to put runs on the board when you have guys in scoring position because they put themselves there. Cut on and miss. Struck him out. Make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Coulson Montgomery the next to hit and he’s already singled in this game. Let’s go Tampa. Popped up to the left into foul ground. Camo snags it for the second out. Now batting designated hitter Lenin Sosa. Lenin Sosa steps to the plate for the White Socks. 0 for one. He grounded out in his first at bat. He’s controlling things out there on the mound. Not messing around at all. He’s been in attack mode since the very start. So, a foul ball makes it one and two. Now, this offense has just been locked down. Almost five full innings of shutout baseball. hacks and misses. It’s a strikeout. Nothing doing for the White Socks. Still looking at that five nothing deficit. We head to the bottom of the fifth and stepping in for the Rays. Junior Camro coming and first offering is fouled off. Well, these Rays putting together some really good at bats in this game. There’s been a lot to like with how they’re approaching their chances at the plate. It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early, get him out of the game before he settles in. So, I’d say mission accomplished. Outside low and a count one and two. swaying and a ball popped in the air and that’s a foul ball. Swing and a miss. Struck him out and one away. He’s really good hitting the baseball the other way. So, credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch. Clearly he had a fool. And now Josh Low, a strike out and a walk. Taken high in the draft. He’s had that top prospect label over him since he put on a professional uniform. But at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level. First pitch doesn’t find the zone outside with a breaking ball. Two balls. No strike. There’s the strike. Two balls, one strike. Ball three. That’s a walk. Went with another change up, but missed the spot. Pretty easy walk right there. Last pitch wasn’t even much to think about. left fieldielder. Runner on at first with one gone. Now up for Tampa Bay, Jake Mangum. And that one is in for a strike. This guy absolutely flies. The defense wants to turn two, but they’ve got to get a ball they can do it with. Make sure you get the first out before you try to rush and get two and end up with nothing. Just missed the 1-1 just missed. All three squirts away a little bit. Low stands at first with one out. Runner. Runner on the go. Pulls that one foul. And ball four to a board. You get a walk and you get a walk. The batter number seven gets a walk. Short stop young Kim. So next to the plate for Tampa Bay, Hassang Kim. He is singled and he has flyed to left. First pitch misses. two walks in the inning already and he just doesn’t seem comfortable out there. Like he can find the right mechanics and then repeat them. And that is out of play. One out. Runners at first and second. Next pitch is outside. Tough spot right here. Couple runners on two ball count. You can’t nibble, but you have to execute and finish your pitch. If you leave something out over the plate, it’s going to bring in some runs. Next offering misses down and away. Come on. And that’ll load the bases. They just keep handing out gifts, boo. We bring some singing. I think just our presence is the present. So, they’re all loaded up. And now the catcher for the Rays, Matt Thouble. right through there for a strike. Tough situation right here. So important as a pitcher to get ahead in the count as he did right there. All loaded up. Last half of inning number five. Hit hard but foul off to the left. The O2 on the ground right side. base hit. One run in already. Another comes in to score. It’s seven to nothing. Well, that certainly feels good when you can win the atbat after being down in the count. Up against it with two strikes right there. Turned on it nicely. Definitely a little out in front of the pitch, but he didn’t hook around it too much and was able to keep it fair down the line. So, the Rays batting order turns over. Here’s the Rays leadoff hitter. Just missed. First and third, one down. And another ball. Next offering is in for a strike. In today’s game, not that many fast ball counts, but hitters still in the back of their minds, they’re looking for one. Two change up call right there. Excellent pitch selection to go with. Fouls one off. Two and two. field squeezes it and that should get the job done as he tags from third. He’s in to score on the sack fly and it’s an eight run lead. That’s the third run of the inning and this team is doing a nice job of executing at the plate right now. Here comes the skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move. Now pitching forward and we’ve got ourselves a pitching change. Dan Alilla. Well, you see the RA very solid and that doesn’t always tell you the whole story, but he’s been really good so far this year. Brandon Loud. for the Rays. Second baseman Brandon Wow. And first offering is fouled off. Great swing and solid contact. Just a little too quick. He’s got to stay back a little longer. Two outs and that’s a base hit. Robert hustles it back in. Runner puts on the brakes at second. So it’s first and second with two outated hitter Yandi. Now it’s the DH. Yandi Diaz one for three. And that misses and it’s one and0. First and second, two down. swings through the fast ball up in the zone. Threw that fast ball right by him. Slightly elevated. That’s a confidence boost for this guy out there on the mound. See if he continues to climb the ladder. Swaging a ball hit out towards left center field and it falls coming home. Here’s the throw to the plate and he’s out. Cut down and that ends the inning. Well, it’s pretty difficult to throw a base runner out at the plate with two outs on a base hit to the outfield, but an excellent job of coming up with it, getting rid of it quickly, and throwing on the money. That is great technique from start to finish. Nice job to end the inning. Well, this game isn’t very close. Singy, let’s see if we got any messages from those tuning in today. I know we got some good stuff in there. Do you collect baseball cards? You know, when I was a kid, I used to put them in my back tire of my bicycle so it would sound like a motorcycle. Probably ruined some good cards back then, but don’t really have much of a collection. The other day I came across a binder that my wife had in one of the drawers and my son’s got some baseball cards. So we’ll be looking to see if there’s any kind of retirement income in there. So my dad told me that he had a bunch of Mickey man rookie cards and a whole bunch of valuable cards and his mom tossed them. That one way inside. Fouls it off. Still one and two. Clearly down in this ball game. And you can’t look at the deficit and try to get it all back in one swing. It’s got to come one at bat at a time and even shrink it down smaller pitch to pitch. Make that guy on the mound work to get you out. Two- two down. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Ground ball right side. Lao to first. That was a strong at bat even though he couldn’t find a way on base. Right fielder Mike Tacman. Back to the top of the White Sox lineup. And now the right fielder Mike Tman. Little bit low. And that is ball one. Strike one. One and one. The 1-1 is fouled off. One down. Base is empty. Swing and a ground ball. Base hit right field. Back against the wall with two strikes but found a way. kind of rolled over on this pitch a little bit, but he got enough behind it to shoot it through for a knock. And you’ll take that anytime you can get him to find a hole. Chase Maid steps to the plate for the White Socks. That’s a hit. And now to a board. The left fielder number 23, Andrew Benendi. Now it’s Andrew Benendi to hit. Breaking ball in there for a strike. Runners at first and second with one gone and we’re the top half of the sixth. Comes up empty. That’s strike two. It really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today. Good fast ball, excellent slider, but they’ve not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there. Two on, one out. Swing and a miss for the strike out. Nothing happening on the bases, though. That’s about as nasty of a splitter as you’ll come across, especially in terms of movement. I mean, that thing tumbles out of his hand and just drops off the table at the last moment. If he keeps it down, it’s just so tough to put wood on and first offering is fouled off. There’s the strike. Well, this is a higher leverage spot and I love the way that he’s turned things around. He’s got two outs now ahead in this count. And he can pretty much dictate what’s going to happen next in terms of the pitch sequence. Got him. And he’s up to seven strikeouts. Couple of strikeouts with runners on. Sometimes you got to really bear down and he did just that. Nice job of getting out of the jam and out of the inning. Bottom of the sixth inning. And now the first baseman, Jonathan Aranda. Just missed. Movement for the White Socks in their bullpen. Tyler Alexander up and loosening in the pen. Leisure getting loose as well. There’s the strike. Next offering is in for a strike. In the air, left field down the line. reach and try but can’t bring it in. The third base now the third base Junior Camo coming foul ball there. And there’s a foul ball. Worm burner into the outfield for a knock. Rudder stops at second and the first two reach to start the inning. Well, he found himself behind in the count right there, but he didn’t give in. Wasn’t able to elevate it, but he put a great swing on it. Right on time, good balanced approach and just blasted it through the infield. Next to hit, Josh Low swing and that ball smashed the line and it hops over the wall for an automatic double as a run scores. Well, everyone is thinking, Ed, would the runner have scored from first if the ball stayed in the park? We’ll never know. But they do get a run across with a chance to do more damage in the inning. Jake Mangum next to hit for the Rays. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Two in scoring position. Nobody out here in the bottom of the six. And that’s outside and one and one. Breaking ball misses down and away. Well, he’s just given up three straight hits and now behind in this count to this hitter. Might be a good time for somebody to call a timeout. Maybe the pitching coach go out there and talk to him just a little bit. The count two and one and fouled off. Well, he knows they don’t want to give him anything to hit, but when you’ve got opportunities to drive in runs, you’ve got to expand the zone. He’s capable of going out there and doing damage with it. Two-2 now. Keeps the attack going with a foul ball. that one 95 to finish him off. Frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter and I’m sure that’s going to sit on for a little while. You want to be ready to hit the fast ball. Sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there. Kim in the box now. No balls in a strike, man. I mean, nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually was. That misses the zone and the count is one and one. Way high. It’s a big opportunity right here, but I love the way he’s slowing the game down. He’s shrinking his zone, making sure he gets the pitch that he wants to hit. And that one fouled off. Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. Camo the runner at third. Low at second with one away. Strike three and that’s two in a row. Came inside with that two strike fast ball nicely and just bunched him up on the inside part of the plate. Couldn’t get around on it and catch it out front. Many times if you do, it’s a foul ball. And you know, a lot of pitchers, they really don’t like working inside with two strikes because they do not want to hit that batter. And when they’ve got him up against the ropes, got to figure out a way to put them away. Did a nice job right there. And that one fouled off. Two on, two outs. right side. Rojos throws on to first and that’ll keep more runs from coming in. Inning over. They get a run on three hits, no errors, and two men left on. Seventh inning coming up. It’s the Rays nine and the White Socks nothing. All set for the start of the inning. Now it’s the White Socks catcher Kyle Teal. Teal. Let’s do it now. Swanging a ground ball and that’s just fouled. Changing speeds has this lineup completely off balance in this one. We’ve seen a lot of miss time swings and it’s been a challenge for these hitters to get their rhythm right. two straight and he hits a ground ball right side, throws to first and they get the leadoff hitter in the seventh. Here’s Luis Robert, also known as La Pantara. Right through there for a strike. Fought off foul. gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. The Rays up big in this one here in the top half of inning number seven. All one ball two strikes. Next one is off the play and it’s two and two. Two balls, two strikes in the air right side and it drops in. One gone, runner at first. And now the shorts stop Coulson Montgomery. That’s in for a strike. A short stop takes the ball. Oh, he’s really working him away this bat. sometimes take a little bit off velocity. Try to get a roll over something on the ground. Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield. And that one is lifted in the air. Low. Sizes this one up. Makes the grab and there’s two gone. Up next for the White Socks, the designated hitter, Lenin Sosa. Here’s the White Socks. DH, Lennin Sosa. Check swing. He went too far and it’s a strike. One strike. And that’s a strike. Oh, this guy’s so comfortable hitting with two strikes. Even a good pitch early in the at bat, if he’s not ready to pull the trigger, he’s not worried if he gets to an 02 count. Next offering is outside two and two. Right back to him on the mound. the throw to first and that is the third out of the inning. Still in total command on the mound with seven shut out innings. It’s the Rays nine and the White Socks nothing. Bottom of the seventh. Here’s the center fielder number 14. Plenty of offense in this one. Singy. I guess you’d say kind of what we expected though. Well, this was a game looking at the pitching matchup where you expected offense to score and not as lopsided as this. Um, but yeah, you definitely expected to see some offense coming up. All right. Now, he may have not liked either of those first two pitches or agreed with the umpire’s calls, but at this point, he’s going to have to bear down and be ready to hit anything close to the zone. swing and a pop off in foul ground. He makes the grab and there’s one away. The batter number eight, second baseman Brandon. So up next, Brandon Loud. That one finds the zone. Strike one. One more time. O, that one went straight back and got her up right in the mask. Let’s hope he’s okay. What a stop. The throw nicely done for the out. The batter number two, designated hitter Yandi. Two out, spaces empty. Yandi Diaz will hit next. High in the air out to right. Tman makes the play and it’s out number three. Nothing across here this half. We look ahead to inning number eight. It’s the Rays nine and the White Socks nothing. Now on the bump, Garrick Clevenger. And you know, bullpin guys can struggle sometimes when they’re called upon with big leads because it just doesn’t have the same intensity as a tight game. So, we’ll see how sharp he is. Your mental toughness matters in situations like this as well. Josh Roach digs in now. He’s grounded out a couple of times. To third. Oh, can’t pick it up cleanly. Still able to fire over and save. Couldn’t recover from the misplay. pretty much gifted a lead off base runner right there. And as an offense, this is where you really want to take advantage. Apply some pressure this inning. Make that error hurt. Now it’s the right fielder Mike Tman and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Swinging a foul out of play. Grounder might be two. Throws to second for one. On to first. Double play. Oh man, what a smooth double play. That was a thing of beauty from start to finish. Two down, base is empty. Now at the plate, Chase my draw. Just missed. Two balls, no strikes to count. Just missed. Two down, nobody on. And we’re in the top of the eighth. That one finds the zone and the count is three and one and a foul ball. Two down to foul ball and it remains a full count. Let’s do it. Stays alive. Out to center. nabs it and that’ll do it. This one pretty well decided at this point. Home half of inning number eight straight ahead. It’s the Rays nine here and the White Socks nothing. Ready to go for the last half of the now. Here’s the Tampa Bay cleanup hitter Jonathan. Altavilla back to work and that gets the top of the zone for a strike. Not sure if he was expecting for the pitcher to come right at him, but he got a nice cookie there and just watched it the entire way. Fast ball is outside. Next offering upstairs and that one lifted in the air center field. Robert makes the grab. One away. Now batting third baseman, Junior. Here’s the third baseman, Junior Cabanero. Pitch misses there. Ball one. Base is empty. One away here. The bottom half of the eighth inning. Next pitch way upstairs. Next offering is foulback. Whoa. This one popped up. Foul ground first base side has room and he makes the catch. The right fielder number 15, Josh Low. Now Josh Low swing and a ground ball and that one gets through into center field and that extends the inning. Now batting the left fieldielder Jake Mang next to hit for the Rays. Mang right through there for a strike. No ball one strike. Low leads off first with two down to the inning. This one popped up. Maid gets under it and that’s the inning. The Rays strand just the one, but they’re still in command. Nine nothing and welcome back to the ballpark. There’s Benendi to start it off. Andrew Benendi And he pumps in a strike. Hit on the ground to the right side. He takes it on his own. One up, one down. Now batting the first baseman, Miguel Vargas. Miguel Vargas getting ready to hit. Went down looking on three pitches last time. Let’s see if he can be a little more aggressive right here. Swing and a ball lifted in the air. flashes the leather on the run at fetch and there’s two down. Well, those can be pretty fun as an outfielder. Got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. Lifted to left and that should do it. And he’ll make the catch. Ball game. And the Rays slug their way to a win in this one. Well, this team was ready from the first pitch of the ball game. Swinging the bats, scoring runs, just very aggressive. I feel like they set the tone and that tone created a momentum that took them all the way to the finish line. Nice win today. What the heat?
