Cleveland Browns Could Be Making A MAJOR Trade Soon | Petey’s Final Browns Report

Today is my final day hosting the Cleveland Browns report and it only feels right that for my last ever episode we talk about a trade. So we’ve got some injury news to talk about and how the Browns are going to be, you know, potentially involved with this injury. If you missed it, New York Jets new quarterback Justin Fields. He got carded off the field today at training camp. Now, the initial thing I saw was turf toe. And then I saw it might be a dislocated toe. And maybe by the time you’re watching this, we’ve already got full clarity on the situation. But what we do know for sure is Fields is injured. We don’t know the severity of it. We don’t know how long he could be out for, but there is definitely something to be, you know, had here. So, I expect there to be some type of initial dialogue within the Jets regarding if Fields out for an extended period of time. What do we want to do? Do we just want to hand it over to our backup Tyrod Taylor, which Fields was the starterish, but it was only the beginning of training camp, and I expected there to be some level of competition. Even if they said, “We’re going to start off with Fields, you know, doesn’t mean things can’t change.” So, I think there could be a lot of belief with Taylor. I think Tyrod Taylor’s an awesome backup quarterback and I think he’s got know decent starting potential. So, I’ve seen Joe Flacco and Kenny Picket tossed out there as possible trade targets for the Jets. Ask yourself this question. Take your own personal bias for what you would like to see happen out of there. Would you rank Flacco, Picket, and Taylor very far apart from one another? I’d put Flaco at one. I could put Taylor at two and pick it at three or switch them and I wouldn’t have an issue with it. I think we’re arguing about what smells worse, barf or or [ __ ] So, neither one is very far apart from one another. If the Jets think Flaco is super far away from Taylor, they’ve got familiarity with him, of course, but new head coach, new GM there. Maybe they go full press for Joe Flacco, but I don’t think the Browns are going to be in a rush to move Flacco. I only see Flacco getting traded if Picket, Gabriel, or Shador blows them away and they’re like, “Well, this is our Dak Prescott. This is our Russell Wilson. This is our diamond in the rough that we didn’t see coming and they have just vastly exceeded all expectations. They already have command of the huddle. they they don’t need the training wheels. They can, you know, command the line of scrimmage. They can go through the checks. They can go through the audles. Yeah, we’re ready to turn this over to them. Then Flaco is no longer needed. But you can’t come to that conclusion on Thursday, July 24th. There’s just no way you can. So, I don’t expect the Browns to be looking to shop one of their two veteran quarterbacks because they may very well need one of those two veteran quarterbacks to start for them against Cincinnati week one. The only one that could be moved would be Picket if they’re like, “Listen, we just really in a small, very small sample size of spring practices and a few days of training camp have been unimpressed and the Jets are giving us a really good offer that we can’t turn down. I don’t see that happening. I don’t see the Browns being so unimpressed in a small sample size, they’re ready to move on from Picket. And I I don’t see the Jets making a move like an offer the Browns can’t refuse for Picket. Pickicket’s going to go for a fifth or six and that’s on a good day. Are the Browns really about to give up on him this quickly for a fifth or six when they gave up a player and a fifth for him? Doesn’t seem likely, right? So, I’m not going to put a lot of stock into any quarterback trade happening just yet. What I think could happen is this. If Fields is going to miss a long time, Taylor does not look good in the preseason. It’s late August. The Jets decide we gave Taylor the opportunity, which they should, they should give him the next month if Fields is seriously injured to win the job to prove that he can be the team starting quarterback for 17 games. And at the end of that trial, the end of that audition for a month, they reach the conclusion of, “Yeah, you’re just not the guy for us.” Then you call the Browns up, but you don’t do that now. You don’t do that now. So, that’s the latest on the trade front. Um, we have training camp underway. Couple thoughts I just want to go out there. one, how did it become known that the Browns staged that guy falling into Lake Yuri for the helmet reveal? I I I’ve seen that’s become like public knowledge that the Browns faked it like it was planned for him to fall into the lake, but how did that become Was it Did the Browns announce that? I guess I just missed that. So, someone fill me in, please. I like the new helmet. I think it goes pretty well with the the brown orange jerseys. I think that Nike I recently learned that I recently learned that in Major League Baseball, Nike mandates that major league teams roll out new uniforms every few years, right? City jerseys, these throwback jerseys. And I’m starting to fe fear that they have the NFL by the balls and they’re forcing too much of the NFL to do this because the throwback helmets and the throwback unis and the alternate stuff, they’re cool. But when they’re bad, and sometimes they are bad, it is just embarrassing because we I view the NFL as like this untouchable god in sports that never makes mistakes, right? The MLB is always screwing up. They announce random things the worst times. They have like Fourth of July games that aren’t well advertised, right? They they miss out on so many opportunities. The NBA always gets in its own way. They they’re professionals at that because what better time to do NBA free agency than during Fourth of July weekend. Can you imagine the NFL doing that? No. Never. So when the NFL does something like this, I start to wonder, is this Nike pulling some strings? Just talking about the helmets. Other training camp notes. Here’s the one thing that I want to I want to leave you with this. when it comes to training camp because I’m not going to be with you guys for the next month and a half of it. You will see every single day a new update of Dylan Gabriel was with the second team offense. Shador was with the first team offense. Then Shador was the third team offense. Please do not read too much into it for the first few weeks. Do not read into it really until we get at least within a week of preseason. Let the first week, two weeks of training camp just be auditions, people rolling in at different spots. pick it with the first team one day, felo at the first team the next day. When we get closer to the first preseason game, I think at that point you’re going to have a better idea as to what the coaches think of what they have at quarterback. And that might be an actual indicator when you see one of the quarterbacks start a preseason game. If it’s Pickicket starting, I think that could be, hey, Pickicket’s kind of a merge of the three of the two rookies and himself. So, we’re going to give him an opportunity to start. We always know we can go back to Flacco, but we want to see between these other three guys who could be long-term starters for us, who’s shaping up the best. And we’re gonna go with Pickicket and then which rookie gets the ball first. That’s probably going to be a decent barometer for how well they have played. Is it Gabriel or Shador going with the second team offense going in for the start of the second half in the preseason? And then which of the two rookies plays the fourth quarter to close the game? But we’re still a ways away from that first preseason game. Let the first seven to 10 days of training camp go by without overreacting to who’s first, who’s second, who’s third. Now, the tough part. Um, this is my last video. I have been moonlanding on this channel for about five weeks since I came back from my honeymoon, doing at home videos while chats looks for a new long-term host, which I learned that they have. I don’t know anything about the guy, but super excited for them, for him, and for you. And I’ll be, you know, watching from afar, uh, checking in periodically like any of you guys, just as a viewer. But thank you. Thank you all so much for supporting this channel. Whether you were a frequent watch party viewer, whether you liked every video, whether you super chatted once once you whether you super chated a hundred times, whether you were part of the noty gang, whatever it was, or if you never interacted once, but you just tuned in every so often. You know who you are. whatever bucket you fall under, truly thank you because you made my job over the last four years at that company at Chat Sports so awesome and so memorable. And if you ever see me out and about, don’t be a stranger. Feel free to say hi. Always love bumping into people. And I just I can’t say thank you enough. And it sounds cliche and I never been in a spot like this before, but even though I’m just looking at a camera right now in an empty room, it truly does feel, as impossible as it might feel, that I’m in a room with a bunch of people barking. And that’s what made this job so [ __ ] awesome. So, I’m going to go get a deck of cards because I forgot to get it over here. And we’re going to pick a card to wrap it up. Let’s pick a card one last time. Dylan Scliffe, pick a card. All right, here we go. Just gonna do little cut little baby cards. No cheating. No cheating. All right. You know, the first card I ever got correct some Browns report lore was a king of diamonds. I’m gonna go with King of Diamonds. Two of diamonds. Two of diamonds. Thank you guys. Go brownies. [Music]

  1. Bye Petey! My #1 host! Enjoy your trivia place hope I get to see you again! I’m gonna miss you one last time Let’s Go Browns! Here we Go Brownies here we go WOOF WOOF! Here we Go Brownies here we Go WOOF WOOF!❤️🐶🐶🐶🐶👍👍👍👍❤️ and tell the new guy to do cards and before the season starts

  2. Goodbye Petey, all the best to you and your wife and future family. You made this channel cool. Your coverage of the games I looked forward to on Sunday Good luck to you buddy👊🏻

  3. HI. I'm a fan of Shedeur Sanders and would entertain Jets' interest in him instead of Flacco. I mean the Cleveland fans and media love Joe while Sanders not so much. It would be interesting to see, if another team has a higher opinion of Sanders as QB1. Moreover, the "circus" leaves Cleveland, three quarterbacks, and use the 2026 draft pick on a better quarterback. The Sanders disdain has lost its appeal. If the Browns don't want him now is their opportunity rid themselves of someone lacking the requisite QB1 skills.

  4. As a Bills fan, I had the opportunity to see Tyrod Taylor up close and personal, and I don't share your opinions on him. In fact, NOT EVEN CLOSE. That was seven or eight or more years ago, and something tells me he hasn't improved in time or with age. Not sure what you're looking at. I'd put Flacco one, Pickett two, and about seven other guys between him and Taylor. Again, maybe I'm not up on what's going on with him lately, but I watched Taylor stink up the joint in several games back in Buffalo – and that was in 2015! Damn dude.

  5. Get lasik. It’s a little gross but only takes a couple minutes and doesn’t hurt. Get it now before they say you’re too old to get it!

  6. Good luck Matt, you will be missed. I love how you always just said how you felt instead of what people thought you should say. You are really good at this job, so I hope you found another great job that you really liked. Go Browns😊 I'm sure that you could always come back for a visit.
