NBA LIVE! Golden State Warriors vs Sacramento Kings | July 25, 2025 | Warriors vs Kings 2K Preseason
He said, “Hopefully I can push it to a number that nobody else.” Yeah, pretty unanimous, David. You’re right. Thank you. Now, Golden State’s starting five. And for Sacramento, Harrison Sabonis hold down the post positions for him. Dennis Shruder is out there with Zack Lavine. And it’s to Rozan in at the three. Always fun to be on the call for one of these games, Brent. Conference rivals going at it. So much emotion. Teams that are very familiar with each other. I love it, Kevin. And I’m so happy to be here with you for this one. This is going to be awesome. You don’t get a lot of games like this. So hype where the crowd is really into it. So let’s move up a little bit and sit on the edge of our seat, should we? And it’s Shruder missing on offense. Here are the Warriors over to the wing outside. Curry. Green breaking loose and it’s Stephen Curry with a three and the right guy to finish the job. Curry shooter kicks to Lavine. D Rozan passes to Shruder. Murray outside. Just five on the clock. Sacramento needs to get off a shot. Shooting foul as the whistle blows. He’ll shoot two free throws. You know, Greg, some guys are late bloomers. But D Rozan, he was just the opposite. Yeah. Reports are he had handles at age three. First dunk came in the sixth grade, five-star high school prospect. And in a strange way, he’s still an underrated superstar. [Applause] A free throw dropped for D Rozan. [Applause] And so he hits both And now just over a minute played here in the first. It’s Curry outside and it’s Sacramento with the rebound. [Music] Outside to Rosen. The dish to Shruder. Back to D Rozan. [Applause] That shot off and it’s the Warriors taking it the other way inside. [Applause] That shot misses. Nice D from Sabonis. And D Rozan kicks it over to Shruder. Kings moving the ball around. Fires for three. They get the rebound. Sabonis. No luck that time on the shot that would have put them on top. Green dishes to Curry over Lavine and no good. Trying to use the glass. Shruder finds Lavine. Driving in. Can’t get it to fall. and and typically he has the touch to finish when he’s in tight, but not sure on that possession. No one near Curry as he lets it go, gets an open look and hits. Curry’s got five points so far. Well, he is looking confident. Love how they’re using him so far. Yeah, right now I don’t see any letup. Think he’s going to just keep putting his foot on that gas pedal tonight. Now here’s D Rozan. Shooter kicks to Lavine [Applause] with the shot. The shot will not fall. I didn’t see that miss coming. I mean, he’s usually been money from that range. The Kings trail by three. Some tough offensive sets. They want to turn it around. Yeah, right now you just need a bucket to get some momentum. Back to Shruder. [Applause] Pass to D Rozan. Latrey. Draymond Green pulls it in. Warriors leading by three. Defended by Sabonis and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. It’s going to go on Sabonis. Clearly a foul. The Warriors shooting their first free throws of the game. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] And the first one at the line is good. And the Kings look a whole lot different now than they did for most of the 2122 season. And they were changes that had to be made. [Applause] Both good from the line that time. Now, when a team suffers a playoff drought like the Kings have, Greg, you can expect some major moves and you just hope they can find some stability, Kevin, moving forward. This is a team that’s gone through 12 head coaches since the last time they made the playoffs. Timeout is called first of the game for Sacramento. Trying to snap them out of this little slump. Well, they can’t find the net right now. And all they need, I think, is just to get one to go, get back on track. Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] First quarter play and just over three and a half minutes in. outside D. Rosen passes it to Lavine on deep. A shot missing and it’s the Warriors taking it the other way. It’s good and he makes his first shot of the game. Well, recognizing the size mismatch and then turns it into an easy basket there. They’ve got to do a better job with defensive help. Now, here’s D Rozan. [Applause] Driving the lane and Rozan throws it down. Watch out now. When D Rozan is moving like this towards the hoop, you’re in for a show. And he gets the whistle for the 3second call. And it’s D Rozan with the ball for the Kings trailing by five. There’s the pass to Murray. Back to Shruder. It’s rebounded by Golden State to the left wing. He’s guarded by Shruder. D Rozan with the rebound. Sacramento’s gone 03 from three-point land. Nothing yet going outside. Lavine can’t hit. The D giving him that shot. And that’s probably not a good idea, but I guess they knew what they were doing that time. Now here’s Curry. He’s got five. Three-pointer. doesn’t get it to drop for him and Sacramento will go the other way with it. D Rozan passes the Shruder. Unloads from 13. No good on the shot. A bit long that time. Warriors leading by five. Curry outside. It’s hauled in by the Kings. Sabonis has got four rebounds now tonight. Here’s Shruder and a lot of contact on that that one. So, he’ll shoot two here. Yeah, you got to be careful with Shruder. He’s explosive and he’s good at finding his way to the line because he uses that quickness well. The Kings shooting their third and fourth free throw attempts to the game. Two shot. First one falls for him. The potential Sure has is pretty exciting. Such a lightning quick point guard. Jay is checked in for Golden State. And he makes the first but misses the second. Warriors leading by four. [Applause] Murray the pass to Shruder. [Applause] No good with the layup. And there hasn’t been anything easy for him in this period. No, I haven’t seen him in in comfortable spots or at least spots we’ve seen in this offensive set that are allowing him to settle in. The Warriors have had two chances at the line already, making them both. Yeah. A year ago though, Kevin, 78% conversion rate from the free throw line. So that’s a nice all-around effort. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] He’s off on the first. Wow. Wasn’t he have something in his eye on that shot? Maybe. Sacramento making a switch here. Carter’s checked in. [Applause] and he can’t get the second one to drop either. Coming up empty that time. And prior to playing in college, Sabonis played professionally in Spain. That’s such a head scratcher to me. I mean, 16 years old. I mean, here you’d be getting your license there. Sabonis was playing in professional leagues against grown men. So that experience certainly has helped him both in college and for sure being a pro now. And that outstanding drive and finish brought to you by Mobile One. And that’s what a coach loves to see in a close game. Just put your head down and make something happen. trains it from beyond the ark and the Warriors lead by five. Smart play by Jimmy Butler. Spots the open man. Tack up an assist. Carter kicks to Lavine [Applause] and that one drops for him. How about how he sets his man up there, runs him right into the screen, and then gets the basket. Some nice passing by Golden Stadium. Six on the shot clock from six feet. Nice touch on the bank shot. He’s got five. and his presence as a scorer, it it just has a calming effect for the rest of the team. He’s a fallback option whenever they need one. Outside D Rozan have a step back. No good on that one. And Golden State will come the other way. Here’s Jay. A second chance effort and Lavine with the block. The Kings trail by five. A shot by Carter. Nobody around. And it’s good. Two points. And it’s a bonus with the reward there for the hustle. Picking up the scraps. [Applause] Nice deep from Lavine. And it’s Sabonis with the ball for Sacramento. Dean passes to D Rozan. And too much time in the lane. They get called for the 3second violation. And the Kings will go for a different look here. Eubanks. He’s checked in for Sabonis. Charge comes in for Murray. Monks checked in for Demar D Rozan. And it’s Ellison for Zack Lavine. And that rejection had some mustard on it. Huge, huge play. And this is why coaches stress the importance of defense. Big block there in this close game. Pass to Moody outside. Curry up top. Heel. Monk defending. Heel can’t hit. The Kings trail by three. Ellis left side. That’s no good. Misses his first shot of the night pass to Curry. Now here’s Moody. Outside Curry three-pointer heel. They grab their own miss and plenty of contact on the shot. So two free throws coming up. Yeah, easy call. The Warriors shooting their fifth and sixth free throws of the game. [Applause] First free throw is good. [Applause] That’s also good. So he hits both free throws. The Kings trail by five. Ellis outside. Monk. The pass to Eubanks. He kicks it to Carter. No good on the three. And it’s the Warriors ball. Healed outside. It’s stolen by Sharks. Ellis down low. And no good. And it’s the Warriors taking it the other way. Shot by Heel. Nobody around. Cans it from downtown. And the Warriors lead by eight. 137 left in the first. They need a bucket in a big way here to regain some confidence. Here’s Eubanks. Back to Carter. Five to shoot. [Applause] Jay with the rebound. Jay has got it. Got four rebounds now. tonight. [Applause] Passes to Moody. And here is Heel. [Applause] Jay. The pass to Heel. And another three for Golden State. Wow. Heel has a beautiful release on his shot right there. Just barely off of his fingertips and buttery soft. Now here is Carter. No points in the game hit for him. Now here’s Shorich. He’s covered closely. On its way from Monk for two. Sacramento again missing. About 7 seconds separating the shot and game clocks. Curry against Charish. Curry on the wing launches a three. Here’s Jay. Goes back up. Rebound by the Kings. And so it’s the Golden State Warriors holding on to an 11-point cushion as we get ready to take a break. They have made it very tough to get a shot off against them. Their defense has been stifling. And we’ll be right back after this. And welcome back to the second quarter of action. Plenty of basketball left to play, but this one has been one-sided so far. And for the Warriors, this has been the game they wanted to have. Stingy on the defensive end in that first quarter. They were just getting up into people. Just a a great job really of making the game ugly, trying to muck it up a little bit out there. And when people talk about defense, the term boxes and elbows comes up a lot. Greg, for our audience, can you explain what that’s about? It’s a great point, Kevin. And and listen, the two defenders on what we call the boxes, that’s down in the low post area. You see those two boxes now at the end of the free throw line. And then you have the two defenders on the elbow. So that’s the edge of the free throw line. The idea to close down the paint. So on the floor for Golden State to begin this second quarter. Draymond Green sees that he can get out into the lane. He can run the floor with some speed. outside Lavine and the call on the shot that sends in to the line. Kevin, what’s so impressive to me about Lavine? It’s the allaround play. He affects the game across the board. And what do you guys think so far about the offensive approach for the Warriors? Well, they haven’t wasted any time getting into a groove from deep, putting up and hitting a healthy amount of three-pointers thus far. Well, not only that, but but you love how unselfish they’ve been to start this game that’s going to get all the guys in a great flow and feeling good. So, moving that ball around and scoring off assists, it’s a nice way to play and a good free throw shooter who’s really increased his volume over the years. Lavine with a lot of ways to beat you. That one falls so he hits both of them. And Lavine’s efficient as well. And good shooting numbers, no doubt. Last year, he cut back on the turnovers. And boy, he’s still young. There’s still tons of upside to be had. Outside, Green from downtown as a big once you get position inside, it allows you to fight and come away with a lot of tough boards. It’s time now to hear from our Hall of Fame reporter, David Aldridge. What’s the latest David? Thank you, Kevin. Damont Sabonis is one of the best passing big men in the league. He said sharing the ball is contagious. Everyone feels confident and knows they’ll get touches which makes the game fun and that can build chemistry on a young team. Kevin and David, we know how important that is and we thank you for your report. Here’s Moody spin and change shot and the basketed by Jay. Jay has kind of got the lead up to 13 now for the Warriors. Big miscommunication on defense. He recognizes it and quickly takes advantage. Well, I know they don’t have mobile devices out there for texting, so they might as well talk to one another. Here’s Jay. It’s rebounded by Shruder and Draymond Green picks up the foul and that’ll be his third foul so far. You know what? Tried to step in and cut him off but just didn’t get there quick enough. The Kings trail by 13. The pass to D Rozan. Here’s Shruder. [Applause] pulls it up. They get it again. There’s Sabonis and slammed up by Sabonis. And how about Sabonis getting up there and rising up to slam down. [Applause] Golden State moving it around now. Here’s Moody guarded by Lavine. Here’s Jay. No good. Shot missing. Pretty lax defense there. He’s going to see fewer and fewer chances if he can’t bury those kind of jumpers. Outside Lavine. Shruder right side. Pass to Sabonis. The shots good on the assist by Shruder. Sabonis has got it back down to within single digits for the Kings. the 11-footer misses off the right iron. Here’s D Rozan. Can’t connect from short range. Defense as tough as it comes right there. He’s a hard man to deny when he gets the ball to the rim. And foul on the shot, so he’ll get a chance at the line. Wow. Wow. He got whacked on that one. Shouldn’t be much debate there. The Warriors have gone four of six so far from the line. Missing a couple. Take break. Big break. [Applause] The first free throw is good. GA with their fourth title. The combination of Steph, Clay, and Draymond Green. The single most successful trio in the last half century in the NBA. And and some would argue the best trio of all time. the most wins in the finals ever by a trio who’ve each made an allNBA team. [Applause] And so he makes both from the line. And just over three and a half minutes played here in the second quarter. Outside D Rozan Shruder outside left side Zabonis Jay with the rebound. Jay has got it. Got rebound number eight here tonight in the game from about 16. Doesn’t go that time. So, the Kings will take it the other way. It’s tipped. Here’s Jay guarded by Lavine. Jay misses. That might not be the shot they want him taking, even with the D backing off. And how about the confidence on display from Lavine, just daring the D to get physical with it. Sacramento shooting their seventh and eighth free throw attempts for the game right here. Yeah. and and fairly decent a season ago. About 77% from the line. And he makes the first. So he gets them both. Warriors leading by nine. Pass to Moody out left to the wing and again it’s the Warriors missing and so it’s Murray with it. He brings it up for the Sacramento Kings. Only given up six here in this quarter. Well, the father of Damontes Sabonis Arvdus named to the NBA 75 all European team. Arvdas 73 and just so skilled. This is his first free throw of the game. The first free throw is good. And Greg, what was it like playing with the 73 Arvitus when you were in the NBA together? Kevin, we we had a couple years together in Portland. And I tell you what, he was an incredible passer. really made me a better cutter because he was the first guy I played with that could make all the passes no matter where he was on the floor. That’s also good. So, he hits both free throws. And Sabona is such a key to this team and what they do on the inside. A big man that does a little bit of everything. Santos the pass to Moody with the fadeaway will not go. This is off the front line. He wanted to keep that shot from getting blocked, but in the process he gave it no chance of going in because of how unbalanced he was on the fade. Warriors leading by seven. [Applause] Santos D Rozan defending [Applause] Moody the pass to Jay and a strong finish with two hands. Oh. Oh, inflicting some punishment with the two hand flush. Ah, they’re going for the throat. Timeout called by the Kings. Trying to snap them out of this little slump. Well, they can’t find the net right now and all they need, I think, is just to get one to go, get back on track. Heat. Heat. [Applause] Davis has checked in for the Kings. Curry’s checked in for the Warriors. Sacramento with the ball. Nine-point game. Right side. Sabonis back to Shruder. Lays it up and banks it in. Shruder playing with some tenacity in this one. He is not letting the defense dictate where it is that he’s going and he’s scoring through contact. Now here’s Curry. He’s got five. Fires it up. Hits the jumper in space. Curry’s got seven for Sacramento. They’ve gone three of eight from the field since the beginning of the second quarter. Shruder surveying the floor. Shot clock at six. D Rozan the 18-footer is right on the mark. D Rozan’s got his second basket of the game. And this has really always been a staple of his game. You see how confident the Rosen is with that mid-range. Here’s Jay. He’s got six. Golden State moving it around. Happy to see that one go in after missing six of his nine shots today. If you give him an inch of space, he’s going to make you pay. And a great job to get that angle on a tremendous drop. And the awareness of his footwork and body on that drive. Wow. Now D Roza. He has six. Shruder right side with the tip and staying with the play. Sabonis Sabonis has got eight here on the quarter. Great at using his body and finding his feet in positions on the boards where he can get up, get to it, get an extra possession. And there’s the pass to Jay. Curry outside. Rebound by the Kings. D Rozan’s got his fifth rebound right now in the game. Pass to Sabonis. He feeds it to Murray and it’s Murray with the jam. If you leave someone open on a team with Sabonis having the ball, he’s going to make you pay. That’s great recognition. [Applause] Curry pass it to Jay. That shot is off. Nice D from Sabonis. Outside to Rosen. It’s not going to go for him. The Warriors go the other way. 13 points was their big lead in the game. Curry good. It doesn’t matter. I mean, once Steph Curry crosses half court, you’re in trouble. Just a bonus and he can’t answer back. The three-pointer offline. Well, even though he misses that one, the defense has got to talk about that. That’s a bad miscue and you can’t give up looks like that all game long. And the officials will call the illegal screen right there. Oh, that’s going to draw a whistle every time down the floor. Not even close to being a legal screen. Yeah, everybody saw that one. That was pretty blatant there. And we’ve got a lineup change here for Sacramento. The Kings trail by eight. Ellis outside. And there’s the call. It’s going to be an illegal screen. [Applause] And so Green will bring it up for the Warriors. Heel dishes to Curry. A three-pointer no good. The Kings have gone. Six of 14 shooting here in the second. Carter the pass to Monk. 158 left in the first half. Down to five on the shot clock. Back to Carter. Uncovered. And the rebound goes to the Warriors. And when you can’t get anything to fall, it definitely gets in your head. Especially if you’re a player that doesn’t get a lot of shot attempts, but otherwise the mindset is I just got to get the next one to go and you don’t want to put that much pressure on yourself. Monk the pass to Ellis and up the court come the Warriors. On the break with the double team, three-pointer heel, no good. He has missed three of his five attempts this game. Count it. And the Warrior lead has been cut down to six. And the bucket from Carter. And they keep hammering away at him inside, forcing the ball into the paint. It’s stolen by Carter, driving inside, knocks it loose. Golden State’s gotten into trouble with the three ball in the second quarter, only hitting one or five attempts. A chance at a two for one if they want it. If I’m them, I try it. Here’s Eubanks. He’s been patient so far. Nothing on the scoreboard yet. Carter can’t get that one to fall. He may not be the strongest inside presence in the league, but still he’s got to convert from there. Eubanks grabs the miss. Eubanks got his fourth rebound in this one. And really the smart thing would be to hold for the last shot. Every second right now was valuable to you. That should be their strategy. Carter drives in. Tries from 10 and it’s denied. Great defense from Jimmy Butler judging when that shot was going up and getting the rejection. And that does it for the first half of playing. Warriors lead by six. And now let’s catch up with David Aldridge who’s standing by from the sideline. All right, Dave. [Music] Thanks very much, Steve. Some great engagement defensively. What’s happening? That’s good at that end of the floor. I think they’re just playing hard, rotating, playing for each other, and they’ve done a better job of avoiding fouls. All right, Dave, thank you. And time now for the halftime break with the third quarter soon to follow right here on 2K Sports. It’s the 2K Sports Halftime Show. Hey again everybody, I’m Ernie Johnson. Shaq is here. Kenny’s here. You’re watching the NBA halftime show on 2K Sports. So, it’s Golden State who’s out on top at the half. They have a six-point lead. Kenny, what’s your viewpoint? The bench unit was an essential part of the puzzle in the first half. They really stepped it up in a big way, and that helped out. And now the starters can appreciate not having to carry the load on their own. Jack, how do you think Sacramento played? They just keep giving the ball away. That’s not how you win. I understand this defense is giving them problems being disruptive. If they can just cut down on the turnovers, I think they can win this game. And that does it for our halftime show. We now take you back to Kevin Harland for the start of the third period. And in that first half, we saw a pretty tight battle. We’ll soon find out what sort of adjustments were discussed during the half. Warriors leading by six. Harrison Sabonis hold down the post positions for him. Zack Lavine is out there with Dennis Shruder and it’s D Rozan in at the small forward position. So that’s the five in the game for Sacramento. Kicks to Green for Murray and that one goes long. Not a bad shot from the mid-range. The D’s giving it to him and he’s usually got an eye in that kind of range. And that one’s good. Shruder. Well, don’t want to body him up. He’s just too fast as Shruder is able to get it done. Some nice passing by Golden State. A 15-footer. Can’t hit that one. Nice D from Sabon. Here’s D Rozan. It’s good. Only a few seconds into the shot clock. D Rozan’s got eight points. Nice hustle there. You can count on D Rozan for this. He works so tirelessly as a scorer. Here’s Green. Takes the 12-footer and hits. And the Warriors lead by four. That’s a high percentage look when the D doesn’t fight over the screen. The coach over there just asking for one simple thing and that’s some effort. Got burned on that one. Be passes to Murray. And there’s the feed to Shruder. Just five to shoot. from deep three-point range. Green with the rebound. And here’s Green. He’ll bring it up for the Warriors. 13 points was their biggest lead in the game on the wing. Green. He dishes it to Curry. Green breaking loose. And Curry the bucket on the assist by Green. Now, there are nights he makes it look easy. Tonight, he’s making it look even easier. Be passes to D Rozan. Tries it from the top of the key. That one wide left. Well, Draymond’s IQ on the defensive end is so high level. I think that’s going to be a huge advantage with him as an analyst because he’s going to talk to you from a perspective you don’t much hear from. Usually it’s from guys who scored a lot of points in the NBA, but what he did defensively, he could communicate that quite well. Two shots. [Applause] That one is off. Green’s broadcasting has even helped his opponents in some cases. Yours probably has too, Kevin, in some instances. But with Draymond, I think what’s cool is guys are listening. And when Draymond starts to talk about some of the techniques he uses or some of the things he’s looking out for, uh, guys understand that that could improve their game. So, why not take it from one of the best in the business? Boy, a fierce comp competitor. Jimmy Butler puts his heart and soul into the game. There are not a lot of opponents or players in this league that are going to outwork Jimmy Butler, and he does. He impacts the game in so many ways, and he’s all about winning. And one of the strengths of Lavine’s game, that ability to lure the D into fouls. Get into the wrong position and he’ll make you pay. This is his third trip to the free throw line in the game. Wound up shooting 85 from the line a season ago, which is an exceptional percentage. Shooting two. The first one falls. And so Lavine nails both of them. A little over two and a half minutes off the clock in this final half of play. Back to Curry with the teardrop and a good offensive board and he gets the bucket. He’s got six. Hard work on the offensive glass. You can see the coaching staff rise up and clap for that effort. Outside Lavine [Applause] Murray kicks to Rosen. Out of bounds, Golden State takes possession. And we got to take a second look to admire that outstanding block. And big defensive plays like that will help them stay in control of this one. Shruder against Curry. Third quarter action in just under three and a half minutes have gone. Sabonis grabs the board. And they had some botched coverage that turned into no coverage. Here’s Lavine. That one. No good. The Warriors go the other way with it. Curry with another miss. The Kings trail by seven. Shruder finds Lavine. Out of hand on it. Curry pass it to Green. He’s guarded by Shruder. [Applause] And that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. It’s going to go on Sabonis. Yeah, you look how Jimmy Butler stays committed on that play, ready to overcome the defender and still take the shot. And a chance now to catch up on some numbers here. The hustle stats for the Warriors. All game long. had active hands and really out in the passing lanes and that aggression on defense has resulted in a ton of steals. You also have to admire the way they’ve gotten out and run in transition and they’ve run wide. They’ve run their lanes. They’ve been doing it with a great pace and that’s produced some easy scores. [Applause] And that one goes in two from the line that time. You don’t become this good in this league unless you put in a lot of hard work. And there’s some evidence that Jimmy Butler has done that through the years. Now here’s Shruder. He has five offensive rebound. There’s Sabonis. That’s what he gives you. A big time presence on the glass. And you know what, Greg? Once he gets his hands on it, he’s not even thinking about kicking it out. Oh, his competitiveness right now is why the teammates love him. Defended by Sabonis. [Applause] Goes to the reverse layup and drops it in. He has five. This is feeling a little bit too easy right now for Jimmy Butler out there. Passes to Lavine. Some nice ball movement here by the Kings. Fires the three and the three ball is good. Lavine’s got five points now this quarter. A heady play there from Shruder. Zipping the pass to the teammate who had the cleanest look on the possession. [Applause] Unloads from 13. He can’t hit that time. And here’s Lavine who brings it up for the Kings. They trail by six. D Rozan’s shot is off. The Warriors have gone a somewhat so far. Four of 10 on their shots in the second half so far. [Applause] It’s hauled in by the Kings. Sabonis has got rebound number 19 now. Incredible board work. Now here’s Shooter. Finds Lavine. [Applause] The Warriors pull it in. 13 points was their biggest lead in the game. This one for three and Jimmy Butler with the three and the Warriors lead by nine. Well, Butler feels like he can take and make just about any shot that he wants. What great confidence on this play. Here’s Lavine. Sacramento again missing. Warriors have gone five of 12 from the field since the third quarter got underway. Sacramento’s gone one and two from beyond the arc since coming out of the break and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. He’s made all six of his tries at the line so far. Shoot two. Free throw good. Lavine a big group substitution here for Sacramento. Eubanks. He’s checked in for Sabonis. Charge comes in for Murray. Malik Monk. He’s checked in for Dear D. Rozan. And it’s Carter in for Dennis Shruder. And so Lavine both of them and he’s given them a good contribution at the line tonight. Getting there a lot and delivering on his opportunities. Curry against Carter. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. And one of the many special things about Steph Curry, his loyalty, sticking with this Warriors franchise since being drafted back in ’09. The Warriors have been shooting right around 75% of the line, nine of 12 so far. [Applause] and he knocks down the first one. And talking about Steph, he is the face of the franchise and his loyalty is shown. Steph’s been a model citizen. Never complains, never causes any issues, willing to work with young teammates. He is the ideal superstar to build around. And the Kings making a change here. Ellis has checked in. Well, when he gets into a groove at the free throw line, it doesn’t just last for tonight. This might be two weeks, two months, something like that. Now, a timeout called by Sacramento. Yeah, his shot is just not there tonight, guys. And instead of trying to shoot himself out of the slump, maybe he needs to start moving the ball around and creating for his teammates. Heat. Heat. [Applause] Let’s go. Get [Applause] ready. feeds it to Monk. Got a piece of it [Applause] and the slam by Moody and running with a full head of steam but completely under control. Yeah, you think he’s comfortable at that speed. He’s done it so many times before. Just an absolute blur in transition and that helps get the rhythm going. Ellis can’t get it to go. Warriors leading by 11 to the middle. Here’s Curry. Drops in the layup for two. Curry’s got 16 points. Just keeping his composure is Curry out there now. And they’re putting a lot of pressure on him. He’s still producing. passes it to Carter. Hand contact on the shot. So, he’ll be shooting free throws here. They get Stephen Curry. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And the first one at the line is good. [Applause] And that’s good as he hits both of his shots. Here’s Curry. 16 points for him. And now we’ve got some time to check in from the sideline. You got for us, DA? Thanks very much, Kevin. Not that long ago, of course, the analytical team shot way more three-pointers, and they found a temporary edge, but now every team shoots a lot of threes, and it’s more about personnel. When it’s a superstar shooting the ball, that mid-range jumper can be very efficient, guys. And DA, we see it all the time. Brandon Ingram with the New Orleans Pelicans, KD uh the two players in in Phoenix with Chris Paul and Devin Booker D. Rozan in Chicago. They’ll hit those all day long. David, thank you. The Kings trail by 13. Carter looking around down low. Here’s Eubanks. comes up empty down low. Golden State’s gone into a slump here from three-point range. Shooting just one of five here in the third. Back to Curry. Pass to Green over Carter. Green. No luck. Probably not the shot that was drawn up for that possession, but you can’t pass it up and you can’t knock it down. Carter no good that time. Great tea that time from Green to the wing right side. Jacks up a three. Jay misses and Zoellis will bring it up for the Kings. It’s a 13-point game. The pass to Monk. Now Carter clock at six. Here’s Shich and Moody pulls it down. Warriors leading by 13. Green no luck. King shooting a future 25% from the field. Poor shot selection all around. [Applause] Now here’s Monk still looking for his first bucket in this one. Again, the miss by the Kings and he’s easily been their best rebounder tonight. Well, he’s been everywhere and collecting those rebounds that ends any kind of offensive possession and gets them started. Great use of the bounce pass. Thumbs down on that one. Tough to defend against. Oh, what an impressive dribble drive. That replay brought to you by Mobile One. Still going hard and that kind of energy and effort is how they built this lead. Timeout called by the Kings and they just can’t seem to get going offensively. Yeah, they’re like a 4-day old soda right now. Just flat. They’re missing shots left and right and just not playing their best. Heat. Heat. [Applause] And some changes here for the Kings. Zabonis, he’s checked in for Eubanks. Davis is subbed in for Dario Shar. 116 left in the third. Ellis kicks to Carter. Pass to Monk. Up top, Sabonis. Six to shoot. To end the drought, pulls in another board. He hauls in his 20th rebound. Dominating the glass. Yeah. Sabonis just taking that hit and finding a way to finish [Applause] on the night. He’s gone two for two at the strike. Find the lanes. Find the lane. One shot. [Applause] Warriors leading by 12. Passes to Moody. Santos is guarded by Davis. They get it back. Goes up and lays it nice and easy. When when you’re trying to claw your way back into a game, you cannot allow second chance opportunities. Yeah, those are tough. You get back into the game by working harder than the other team, not the other way around. They’re just going to extend this lead. Now, here is Davis. He’s been patient so far. Nothing on the scoreboard yet. Shots good by Ellis. And the rebound and the follow show you what he is all about. Gritty and determined with a soft touch to match. Outside Curry over Carter. Curry’s shot is good. Curry’s got 18 points in the game. From this length, that’s got to feel like a layup for Stephen Curry. It’s been all about Stephen Curry for the Warriors. He notched eight points in the quarter and has that terrific basketball instinct on display. And we’ll be back with you shortly. And we reach the fourth quarter in a game that may be already out of hand. The Kings trail by 14 on the court for Golden State here in the fourth. D Rozan finds Murray. Drops it in from 11 ft. Murray’s got the fourth quarter started here with a bucket for Sacramento. A nice move to create a gap there in the defense and get to the bucket. He tries for three. D Rozan with the rebound. D Rozan’s got rebound number eight now on the night. Oh, he touched it while it was in the cylinder. That’s offensive basket interference. And here’s Green. He’ll bring it up for Golden State. The biggest lead of the game, 15 points. Three-pointer heel. And it’s Sacramento with the rebound. And here’s Lavine. One minute now into this fourth quarter. Outside D Rozan. Five to shoot outside. Sabonis. [Applause] Two seconds left. That one’s in there. The Warrior lead is cut down to just 10 points with the bucket from Shruder. And Shruder did not even have to think twice about that shot. This young man simply devours these chances inside. And another great look at the 2K drop. And you can just sense his determination trying to do everything he can to keep this game within reach. The shot by Curry. No good. Kings have gone two of three from the field to get the fourth quarter started. Pass to D Rozan. Sabonis with the ball. Back to D Rozan. That ball falls. Nice feed that time from Sabonis. Sabonis has got three assists in the game. Healed outside. [Applause] outside curve launches ite. And it’s still a rare sight to see rebound numbers like the ones he’s had tonight. Well, this kind of effort will energize the team and get you going. Just gobbling up every board. And that’s an aggressive take there by D. Rozan and no doubt the coaches will appreciate his ability to attack the defense. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And that one misses. Jimmy Butler. He’s checked in for Heel. [Applause] That one is no good. Warriors leading by eight, trying to get something going. And again, it’s the Warriors missing. D Rozan passes the Shruder outside. Lavine from 12 ft out and Curry pulls it down. That’s a shot right there he’s going to hit nine times out of 10. We just saw the 10% he doesn’t make [Applause] puts up a three. It’s rebounded by Shruder. Shruder’s got his fourth rebound in the this one. [Applause] outside Lavine. Just five on the clock. The offensive rebound. Sabonis and he converts the layup. Well, they left it until the fourth quarter, but finally the run they needed to get back into this one. Finally got themselves in the trenches. Momentum completely shifted. Now we’ve got a tight one here in the final period. Timeout called the Warrior and with a fourth quarter push coming up here. The coach going over the game plan and these players rehydrating themselves with Gatorade, recharging their bodies, refocusing their minds, and getting that strategy down to close out the game. [Applause] [Applause] Let’s check in with our reporter, David Aldridge. Hey guys, I was able to catch the message Steve Kerr gave to his team. He talked about the mindset they need to have and what he wants to see the rest of the way. Engagement at both ends and making good decisions with the ball, guys. Thank you, David. And here now the Kings. It’s been eight unanswered points for him. Lavine looking around. Here he goes. Makes it off the glass. I’ll tell you, they’re right in this. We’ll see if they can maintain momentum. Yeah, this is not the team that we saw in the first quarter right now. Way more confident out there. And the cohesion of the team is impressive. Offensive rebound and the rebound paying off as they pick up two on the second chance bucket right there. him with those points. He puts an end to that 100 run by the Kings. D Rozan with it and Curry picks him up defendively out to D Rozan. Shoots over Curry. Sacramento gets it back. Yeah, nice effort there and tracking down the long rebound. [Applause] He’s covered by Murray. And there’s the basket. Whistle blows and a chance for a three-point play. Going to the line for one. What a play there. The hoop plus the harm. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Applause] The Kings trail by nine. [Applause] Passes to Sabonis. D Rozan on the wing and the pass to Shruder. Lock at six. and he banks in the layup. Shruers got four points in the quarter. Coaching staff would like some more shots from that ring. Back to Curry. [Applause] Defended by Sabonis. Green left side. Sabonis grabs the board. And so it’s D Rozan. He’ll bring it up for Sacramento. They’ve only given up five points here in the fourth quarter. There’s Sabonis. And he overshot that one. Missing. [Applause] Defended by Sabonis. Fade away. That one’s not going to go. And Sacramento will go the other way with it. Pass to Murray. Shruder outside. Lavine. Back to Murray. Untis. And good work on the boards. They pick up a second chance points. Sabonis has got nine points now in just the second half. [Applause] takes a three and Damontes Sabonis pulls it down. Looks like the game plan is they’re willing to give him that kind of shot. It worked out for them this time, but they give it to him again. I I bet three points are coming. offensive rebound tries again and he sinks the layup. Sabonis has got 21. Sabonis such a difficult guy to guard and right now he is going off. Curry against Shruder to stop the drought. Trying to break that ice cold streak. Good job on the glass there. working hard to establish position and put himself in a great spot to come away with that rebound. Now here’s Sabonis. Back to D Rozan shoots. Misses the jumper. Warriors leading by three. Outside Curry to the middle. Here’s Lavine. The shots good on the assist by Shruder. Lavine’s got four points this quarter and they depend on Lavine to score at an efficient clip. Knows how to get it done inside. [Applause] D Rozan defending Curry good 20 points for Stephen Curry. Well, because the defense is keying so much on what Curry is doing, it’s important for him to give different looks. That time, attacking, getting into the painted area. Now, here’s Shooter, grabs the rebound again. This kind of effort is amazing and he will not be denied. Pass to Lavine. Another shot off the left rim and out. Warriors leading by three. Defended by Sabonis. The shot no good. Great D that time from Deon Shruder. And here now the Kings. They’re on an 18-7 run. to Rozan against Curry and that’s going to be a travel. Well, after committing a turnover like that, you’re just praying the game doesn’t come down to the last possession. You’ll remember that one. And the Warriors making a change here. Moody’s checked in. Timeout called the Warriors. And coach can’t be happy. And and I think I know why. their defense putting up no resistance inside. No, they’re not preventing them from scoring. And if you can get to a high efficiency shot on the floor, and that’s the paint, you just keep going. [Applause] [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] And now we present our New Balance player of the game, Jimmy Butler. And to me, the best part of his game has been the work he’s done inside. I mean, slashing, driving the lane, attacking the basket at every chance. When he’s had an opening, he’s taken it. Warriors leading by three. [Applause] Curry looking it over. D Rozan defending. Yes, that goes in. Man, no question. Jimmy Butler all the way. And it’s D Rozan with the ball for the King. They’ve been looking out of sync offensively. Yeah, their offense has ground to a standstill [Applause] for three. Kept alive. Sabonis and that one is good with the extra effort on the glass. And that’s the reason why Sabonis gets the rock. He’s just upping the end. Here’s Curry. Banked in off the glass. Curry’s got 12 points here in the second half. And none better. Steph ste stepping up. What a great field for the moment. Steph Curry. Bingo. Shoots from 14. Warriors with the rebound. Green’s got 14 rebounds tonight. Going after. Felt like he was getting more and more hungry as he got closer to the rim. Jimmy Butler just tenacious there. [Applause] [Applause] So the first one drops and that increases their lead to six. [Applause] And so he drops them both. It’s a seven-point game. Perfectly done at the strike there. That brings their lead up to an even more comfortable level. Now here’s D Rozan. Another miss by D Rozan. Wow, what a rough second half for him shooting the basketball. Maybe you adopt a pass first mentality at this point. Pass to Green. Golden State moving the ball around. D Rozan defending lets it go from deep and Damontes Sabonis pulls it down and not sure they’ve got enough time to save themselves. Looking unlikely right here that time ticking away. They grabbed their own miss. Lavine goes up again. There’s a bonus. Here’s Shruder. Kings with the fresh shot clock. D Rozan finds Shruder and the three off target. Curry against Shruder outside. Curry. [Applause] So we see the Warriors get the win here. They seem to relish their role as the bad guy here tonight. Yeah, you know, Kevin, I sense that as well. I mean, they really did feed off all of that negative energy this crowd was directing at them. I mean, they turned it around and used it as motivation to close out a significant win. And now, let’s go over to David Aldridge from the sideline for an interview with our player of the game. Hey, David. Thank you, Kevin. Now, Jimmy, you have not been shy about setting the bar high for this team defensively. Now, how do you think you did at that end tonight? We did our thing tonight. We came out, put bodies on guys. Basketball is a game of runs and um they got some great scores, but in the end we did what we’re supposed to do. You got the last one and that’s what matters. Thanks, Jimmy. Back to you, Kevin. David, thank you as always. And that’ll wrap it up, folks. For Greg Anthony, Brett Barry, and David Aldridge, this is Kevin Harland. Thank you for watching the NBA, presented by 2K Sports. We’ll see you next time.
