MLB LIVE🔴 Seattle Mariners vs Los Angeles Angels – Jul 24, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

All right, just about set to go. And today’s starter, Tyler Anderson. And Singi, we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots. Well, he’s been a very dependable starter for his club. And what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him. I mean, it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball. Maybe it’s the release point. Maybe it’s the motion, but just some way somehow they’ve got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side. JP Crawford, the leadoff batter, as he looks at ball one. Fast ball in the inside corner for a strike. One ball, one strike. Slapped hard the other way, but foul. [Music] [Applause] That’s foul. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Here comes a pitch line drive and this might be trouble. Now he’ll turn for second and it’s a double to start the game. All over that one right there. Loud contact leads to the double. I mean, you could tell it had extra bases written all over it as it jumped off of his stick. runner in scoring position. No outs. Next to hit, Julio Rodriguez. That’s down and in. Crawford stands at second with no outs. Hit hard on the ground to short. Tosses to first. One out in the top of the first. Batting third. And now we check out the Mariners lineup. And Chris, this offense is facing a defense that is well known for kicking the ball around a bit. How aware are you offensively of a bad defensive team? Well, you’re not like completely aware because you’re really focusing on your approach, but I think when you know about a team and how they can be sloppy and as it plays out in a ball game, you’re more intent on saying with two strikes, I got to make sure that I put the ball in play because even if I don’t get a knock, there’s a chance they commit an error and it leads to us scoring more runs. Let’s go, Tyler. A little out front there as he swings through it. Man, he really sells the change up with that arm action. Off the mark there now. Two balls in a strike. Runner at second here. One gone. [Applause] [Music] Anderson ready to work. That’s a little bit low. Really close pitch down around the knees there. And you could see him asking where it missed. Probably doesn’t agree, but it appears he’s ready to move on to the next pitch. Man at second. Foul ball. And it remains a full count. battling here as he fouls it away. Eighth pitch of the at coming up and ball forward two aboard. Oh, he earned his trip to first right there. It’s not easy laying off that just missed the zone like that and it’s a real discipline as well. He’s put a lot of work into that aspect of his game and it paid off right there. Now at the plate, Randy Rosarena. That one’s in there and it’s on two. Getting a little frustrated with the strike zone. Swinging a fly ball in the air out towards right center field. squeezes it. Two-way down. Batty fifth. The designated hitter, Jorge Palanco. Jorge Palano up next for the Mariners. Outfield playing very deep, not wanting anything over their heads. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Was good pitch there. Billy had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, you get a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. A change up missing and it’s two and one. Could be some action here on this next pitch. Couple runners on. Probably a challenge pitch coming. And that is out of play. Well, they’re really running up the pitch count in this first inning. Lots of confidence from this team that is perhaps the hottest in baseball right now. Twins and misses. It’s a strike out. Pulled the string of the change up. Two left on. Now the Angels will get their first crack at it. No score. [Applause] Back here at Angel Stadium and towing the slab here, Carlos Vargas. Well, Boo may be a little pedestrian there in terms of the ERA, but with those numbers, you expect to be in a ball game and have an opportunity to win. And really that’s all his teammates can ask for. So we’ll see if he’s able to be consistent in this one. Bottom of the first. The batter will be the short stop. Zack Neto. [Applause] And that one just misses a ball and no strikes. [Music] [Applause] That clips the corner. That’s hard hit on the line. A Rosena makes the grab. One away. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup and one of the most exciting young stars in the sport, Logan Ohappy. Well, Boog, he’s a guy to watch because he capitalizes on the big situations as well as anyone hitting over 350 with runners in scoring position. You know what that means? That means he’s a key player for this offense because he can really drive them in when the team needs him the most. He’s been clutch all year. Highfly ball out into left center field. Calls it in and there’s two away. Yeah, that’s a tough play for the infielder. Ranging back into the outfield. There’s part of him that’s saying, “Hey, where you at, outfielder? Call me off.” But he stayed focused and made a nice catch right there. Here’s Trout. And he grounds one back up the middle onto first. Angels retired. One, two, three. Angels held in check. We played an inning. No score. And welcome back to the ballpark. Top of the second and now the first baseman, Luke. Batting sixth in today’s lineup. And they went out and made a trade for him last season. And there’s the strike. First pitch strike right there for him. He’s going to have to do that consistently if he’s going to give any length to his skipper. Swinging a miss. And it’s nothing at two. Joe McDonald, our umpire behind the dish. Yeah, but Joey Mack sometimes a little tough to figure out. We may see some hitters and pitchers asking him where a pitch was here or there, but most of the time he keeps it reasonable. Swings and misses. Slider got him for strike three. Away, away, away. Clearly, that was the plan right there. He just wasn’t able to put it in play. And that should tell you something as a hitter. Sometimes you’re a little too conscious of the inside pitch and you’re not able to cover that outside part of the plate. So, clearly some adjustments to be made next time. So, digging in, Dominic can zone. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. 10. That’s to third. Numa to first in time. Two up, two down in the top of second. Batting eight, third baseman number nine. Two outs, space is empty. And now for Seattle, Ben Williamson. And that drops in for a strike. This guy is just filling up the strike zone right now. Don’t want to get yourself in an 02 hole. You better be ready to pull the trigger on the first pitch. Swinging a ground ball. He takes it himself to the bag. And that’ll do it. And one, two, three. Go to Mariners. We’ll go to the bottom of the second. No score. Back in Anaheim, we head to the bottom of the second now. The left fielder, Taylor Ward. Taylor War. Come on, Tate. The wind to the pitch. Fast ball for a strike. Next pitch is outside. One ball, one strike. And strike two. Clearly it was sitting on a fast ball right there and just ended up out in front of the slider. Hey, you can’t fault him for his commitment. Now he’s just going to have to battle with two strikes. And the next pitch is way outside. And that’s outside. Doubled up on the slider away to Seamer here. Just watch and see. Goes down looking. Well, I had to think he was sort of laying it out over the plate trying to protect that outside corner since everything in that at bat had been away. So, that was a great call to run the fast ball inside. He had excellent command with it. Locked him up. Couldn’t react and pull the trigger. Here’s Joe Adel. Good power. Not great in the OBP department. And a foul ball. One down. Base is empty. Fouled off. He was late. Nothing. Nothing here in the bottom of the second to third. Williamson slings it across. Already two out here in the home half of inning number two. Good late bite on that slider. Got the hitter out in front. Rolled over on it. Exactly what he was supposed to do. Jorge Solair up at the plate. First pitch misses. Oh, he never moved cuz he never had time to. With that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. the other way. Handles, throws the first. Three up, three down. Inning over. Angels go quietly there. We’ll move to the third with no score. And we’re back. Top half of the third inning. And stepping in for the Mariners, Cole Young. Anderson back to work. Up and in. Ball one. 10. Yeah, there’s a ball. Next offering is fouled back. [Music] [Applause] Fouls one off. Two and two. [Music] [Applause] That one missed. Full count. Swing it a miss and he struck him out. And he’s registered three Ks in this one. Came inside with that two strike fast nicely and just bunched him up on the inside part of the plate. Couldn’t get around on it and catch it out front. Many times if you do, it’s a foul ball. And you know, a lot of pitchers, they really don’t like working inside with two strikes because they do not want to hit that batter. And when they’ve got him up against the ropes, got to figure out a way to put them away. Did a nice job right there. On the ground of first and it goes just foul and a swing and a line drive out of right field. Solair makes the catch and there’s two away. center fielder Julio Rodriguez. And now the center fielder Julio Rodriguez grounded out his first time just off the outside edge. One and0. There’s the strike. The guy’s going this good. He’s retired seven in a row. You got to step out of the box, fake bunt, do something to break it up. And a swing and a miss there. Top of the third, no score. There’s a swing and a drive. And one hops off the wall. Should be extra bases. And that’s a two out double. Oh, that’ll make you feel good as a hitter right there. Nice line drive to the pole side right there, but he didn’t spin off of it. That’s the key. You still have to extend through the baseball in order to hit a line drive like that. Runner in scoring position now. And a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game. So, runner at second, two down. Cal Raleigh getting ready to hit right through there for a strike. Well, they’re looking to get on the board first here after that clutch two out double made this inning interesting. Man on second, two down. No, that’s a ball. Back door breaking ball just missed right there. And boy, umpire didn’t give him the call. I bet you if he throws it again, hitter knows he’s going to have to swing it. Ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. Here’s Rodriguez trying to score. He’ll score easily. It’s an RBI single and it’s one- nothing. Well done. Drives in the run. Off the bat, that one registered at 105 mph. Man, that is smoking. And these days, you hear it all the time, but the numbers just don’t lie. If you can drive a ball like that, more often than not, you’re picking up a knock. Now, a chance for Randy Rosarena. And that’s way high. And it’s one and0. One ball, no strikes. [Applause] Yeah, there’s the strike. [Applause] There’s the strike. looked pretty good as far as being in the strike zone, but I’m sure as a hitter not too good with where it was located. Very top of the strike zone. Middle away. Way outside now. Two and two. That one is upstairs. 3-2. Two out. Runner on first. Lot of movement in the infield. Hitters got to stay focused on the pitch. Fouled off again and it remains three and two. Raleigh off of first with two away. [Applause] That one to first. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. But the RBI single pushes across a run. It’s now a one- nothing ball game. Back here at Angel Stadium, here’s the catcher, Logan Ohappy. He set a new career high in home runs this year. And Singi, he’s just trying to set the bar as high as possible. Now, a slider in there for a strike. This guy’s got a great feel for his breaking ball today. Liner caught at second. That’ll drive you crazy as a hitter if you let it. I mean, he couldn’t have hit that ball more on the screws than he did. And yet, he’s got nothing to show for it. Hang with him. I know the feeling. Luis Ranifo the next to hit. Just missed. Fouled off left side. One out. Base is empty. There’s the strike. Two fast ball has been very consistent. He’s been able to throw it to both sides of the plate and some really good armside run. And that’s their first base runner of the game. Knight. And now the veteran third baseman Kevin Newman. Good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. And the first pitch misses for ball one. man at first. One away. Fast for a strike. Swing and a miss. One ball, two strikes. That’s outside and the count is even. Two and two. Tying run is at first here in the last half of the third. That one missing inside. [Applause] Come on. Let’s go. Let’s score. Started after it. Tried to hold up. Now a look to first. Did not go. A great back and forth in that at bat. He had to lay off some really close pitches and somehow he found a way to keep the bat on his shoulder right there. I’ll tell you right now, I couldn’t have done it. [Applause] Needto in the box now takes strike one. Really good job in this spot to get ahead in the count. He’s going to have to continue finish off this hitter. Next offering upstairs. One ball, one strike. [Applause] The shorts stop takes the ball. It’s a big opportunity right here, but I love the way he’s slowing the game down. He’s shrinking his zone, making sure he gets the pitch that he wants to hit. Here’s a 2-1. Swagging a ball hit out towards left center field. That’s out number two. Now batting first baseman Nolan. Now the number two hitter Nolan Showell. It’s early but these bats can impact a game just as much as they do later. Here’s a chance to set the tone early for your team. And he swings and misses at the initial offering. Well, a come and get me fast ball right there. He didn’t look ready for the velocity. I think it’d be a mistake to throw him anything off speed right here. That one hammered but pulled fouled. Two on, two outs. And he couldn’t hold back. He’s rung up on strikes. A lot of adrenaline. We can see it right there. And sometimes you just got to let it out. does an outstanding job of taking that, executing, and getting out of a tough inning as we go to the top of the fourth. Now it’s the DH Jorge Palano. Let’s go. First pitch and he just misses. Well, these Mariners doing a great job, Boo, of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way. And I’m seeing very patient at bats out of him. He’s only given up one run, but the starter pitch count is starting to get up there. And that might be the best news yet for this offense. Swing and that ball smashed out of the line. Big catch and there’s one gone. Man, that’s one of those at bats where you have to remind yourself it’s about the process. He did everything right right there. nothing to show for it, but in your mind you have to convince yourself that it was a very good at bat. You know, sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage and that might be the case today. And now the one base is empty, one away. Top half of inning number four. That one pushed foul out of play off to the left. Ball two. Two balls, two strikes. Foul ball. Another two- two upcoming. stays alive. Next pitch misses and that’s ball three. Full count. Bouncer to second. Ranifo in plenty of time to first. He didn’t make things easy for him there, but they still get the out. Right fielder Dominic. Two down, base is empty. Dominic Kzone up next for the Mariners. Grounded out his first time inside. And that’s ball one. Two out. Space is empty. check swing called strike. Missed with a change up and it’s two and one. Comes up empty. That’s strike two. And a ground ball to first. Makes a sliding stop. Takes it himself and he got him. Nicely done at first for the out. Nobody left for Seattle, but they’re on top. One- nothing. Bottom four. And now Mike Trout. Great speed and great power. A great athlete quite simply. And that drops in for a strike. He’s like Mike Trout. You figure whatever you put in his hand, whether it’s a bat, whether it’s a golf club, whether it’s a basketball, he can do it and get it done. And a rare talent. So much fun to watch. Hit on the ground to short. Crawford slings to first and one gone in the fourth as they get the lead off man. Oh, he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air. Lets the defense work behind it with another ground ball. Good execution. So now the angel cleanup hitter Taylor Ward struck out looking at his first at bat. And that’s too high. [Applause] That one backed up the middle and it gets through. So the man aboard now with one away. Once you get the ball by the pitcher, there’s a lot of base hits up the middle, even on ground balls. So, a nice job to use that big hole and get himself ahead. Next to hit, Joe Adell 0 for one. He grounded out in his first at bat. [Applause] And that one off the outside edge. [Applause] tapped at the plate, but it’s a foul ball. Ward leads off first with one away. [Applause] [Applause] Got him. That K is his third of the game. Well, just excellent location on that inside fast ball that really locked him up. And it’s a hitter. It’s not typically what you’re looking for. You’re trying to protect away and then in. So, you can be a little bit tardy with two strikes. It’s hard to tell if he was fooled or if he thought if he called the ball, but either way, that’s a really nice pitch. Jorge Solair the next to hit for the Angels. Grounded out his first time off slider right there. 01. Home team down a run. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. turned on but foul wide of third. Great swing and solid contact. Just a little too quick. He’s got to stay back a little longer. Fights that one away and the count remains 0 and2. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. Swing and a miss. And that is that. Angels leave one. still behind by a count of one to nothing. Back in Anaheim, ready now for the fifth inning. And now for Seattle, Ben Williamson. Williamson measures 6 feet even, 24 years old, and he was a second round pick in 2023. Slice the other way and foul. Breaking ball inside and it’s one and two. That one the other way and foul ball. Oh, there’s a pitch we haven’t seen in a while. It’s going to be tough on the hitters if he can mix that in whenever he wants and that just misses. Really good take, especially with two strikes. Gets a piece and stays alive. Got him. make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter and I’m sure that’s going to sit on him for a little while. You want to be ready to hit the fast ball. Sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there. Young batting for the second time. And that’s strike one. Swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. No ball. Two strike. Strike three. And that’s two in a row. Really nice execution of the cut fast ball right there. Similar to how you might throw a two strike slider, start at middle away, let it break and take over that outside corner of the plate. But sometimes with a cutter, you just don’t know how much it’ll move. I think he’s good. And I think he was also a little lucky right there. Back to the top of the lineup. Here’s the Mariners leadoff man, JP Crawford. That one finds the zone and that strike. One strike. Two down, nobody on. And we’re in the top of the fifth. The next pitch misses and it’s a ball and a strike. And that one missing low. Swing and a ball driven pretty well out towards left center. Adele snags it and that’ll do it. So they make short work of them there. Last half of the fifth coming up. It’s the Mariners one and the Angels nothing and welcome back to the ballpark. John Shami with my buddy Chris Singleton and set to get us started. Bottom five, Logan O’H [Applause] swing and a miss. Looked off balance that time. Wow. No fair right there. I mean, that slider didn’t move till the very last moment. Incredibly difficult to pick that up. Just kind of have to tip your cap on that pitch. just misses there. Man, oh man. I don’t know how you take that pitch. That’s as close as it gets. [Applause] BS another. And that’s three straight strikeouts. Great location with that two strike fast ball. I tell you what, as a hitter, you’re looking to protect the outside part of the plate, stay back on something off speed. So many times that location with two strikes, you just can’t get around on it. And that’s a tough one to compete with. And here comes the Mariners manager to the mound. Pitching change coming. Carlos Vargas to parts. And that’s an excellent job from the reliever in the starting role today. Gave him some length. Back with a new arm after this. Now pitching for odd here, Ryan. And if you dig into his walk rate, his numbers are really impressive. He’s really filled up the strike zone this season. So these batters better be ready to swing the bats. Now it’s the second baseman, Luis Reanifo. [Music] [Applause] misses off the play and that is ball one. Fast ball is outside. Action in the bullpen for Seattle. Number 23, the right-handed sinker baller. He looks to be readying himself. The Halos trailing by a run. Last half of inning number five. Foul ball there. [Music] [Applause] Just missed. That’s in there and it’s three and two count. [Music] Swings through that one. It’s a strike out. That’s tough. You see it well. I mean, that was clearly up and out of the strike zone, but that’s one of the hardest things. And when you see a pitch out of the hand at eye level, that discipline to remember I can’t hit that pitch. If I can see it really well at eye level, I can’t catch up to that pitch when a pitcher’s got this kind of velocity. And now it’s going to be Kevin Newman. And that’s in there for strike one. And there’s a foul ball. That’s off the inside corner. Now one and two. just misses with that one. Two ball. Two strikes in the air out towards left center and makes the play. And that’s out number three. Jose Soraniano comes on now and he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year. The numbers stack up with some of the best in the game. Number 59, Jose. Well, one-run game and stepping in for the Mariners, Julio Rodriguez. Rodriguez, one for two. That’s a strike. Oh, and one movement in the bullpen. Carson Fulmer getting loose out there. fought off foul and that one hit 97 on the gun [Music] [Applause] outside [Music] [Applause] and that one’s a little bit low and the count’s full. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. [Applause] 3-2. Cut on and lifted in the air. Hauls it in for the owl. Now that is catcher Cal Raleigh. Now the Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh. A walk and he’s also singled. Oh, he’s been having a great year this year and hitting home runs at a good clip and the matchup is very favorable outside and that’s ball one. [Applause] Come on. And a breaking ball misses outside. That’s off the mark. Three and one. Three ball, one strike. Swing and a miss. You tie a guy up like that, you’re feeling like you are in command. Base is empty, one away, and we’re in the top half of the sixth. Foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. Hard hit right side and he handles it himself for the out. Now batting left fielder Randy Arosena. Two outs, space is empty. So now it’s the Mariner cleanup hitter Randy or Rosarena. Go for two in this one. Pitch misses outside. One and0. Well, triple digits on the gun. I I know there are more pitchers that can reach that now than in the past, but it’s still impressive to watch. And that’s in there for a strike. And now it’s even. One strike. And that one is inside. That one out to right. And it stays fair. So a man aboard, Jorge Palano up next for the Mariners. First pitch not close. A Rosena the runner at first with two gone. [Applause] The healthy cut, tough pitch at 98, but a really good pass at the ball. Soraniano picks to first. Rosarena dives back. that misses. Now two balls in a strike. [Music] [Applause] Right side hard hit. He’ll throw to first and Palano is out and that is the inning. One hit, one left. Top of the order. Do up in the home half of the six. It’s the Mariners one and the Angels nothing. And we’re back. Well, we go bottom six. Now it’s the Angels lead off man. Zack Neto. The short stop. Zack. Woo. Back to work. Zack Neto. That one a little bit high. Ball one. Activity in the bullpen. Trent Thornton. The hardthrowing righty is up and loosening. Legina getting loose as well. Next offering is in for a strike. Well, it looks like he’s wanting to work the upper part of the strike zone. What does that mean? Top hand better be working for the hitters. Adjust that side a little bit. Give yourself a chance to hit inside corner for a strike. One and two. Really going after him here. All fast balls to get ahead in the count. The short stop takes the ball. [Applause] Next pitch just misses and it’s three and two. Nolan Shadwell in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. [Applause] That one misses. So a lead off walk that could jumpst start an offense that’s really struggled to score in this one. Don’t want to wake a team up with the free pass. And next for the Angels, Nolan Showell. His split numbers between June and July there. [Applause] Well struck deep right field. Way back and out of here. [Applause] a towering shot. His ninth homer of the year and they take the lead. It’s 21. He sent the first pitch over the wall. Must have dinner reservations cuz he wasn’t wasting any time at the plate in that bat. When you have a team that hits home runs at such a high rate, they can get back in the ball game so quickly. That’s why that leadoff walk was extremely costly. [Applause] Here’s Mike Trap. He’s grounded out a couple of times and that is in for a strike and it’s 0 and one. You know, these Angels, digging into their numbers, have to be happy with the swings they’re taking. They’ve hit seven line drives already, and even though some of them have been for outs, there’s nothing wrong with delivering consistent hard contact. That’s almost always going to lead to positive results. That one finds the zone. That is strike two. Fouls it back with two strikes. just off the outside edge and the count is one and two and a swing and a miss. Down on strikes and that’s the first out. Nice recovery after giving up the homer. Well, that’s always the key to effective pitching is getting ahead in the count. And as a pitcher, it really allows you to start expanding the zone. Hitters become defensive and all of a sudden that plate starts to get really wide. And what happens is because of the pressure, you end up committing to a pitch as a batter before you recognize what it is. And that’s what leads to the strikeout. And that one upstairs, ball one. Still only one out here in the inning. That’s a slider for a strike. [Music] That’s down and in. That one misses. And now three and one. 3-1 [Applause] swing and a miss as he was late. Two runs across in the inning here in the bottom of the six. [Applause] That’s a good at bat right there. He was down early in that plate appearance. Works the walk. I don’t think he really wanted to pitch to him right there. Anyhow, Joe Adell the next to hit for the Angels [Applause] that clips a corner, man. I mean, nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually was. just missed two walks in the inning already and he just doesn’t seem comfortable out there. Like he can find the right mechanics and then repeat them. [Applause] Ball three and ball four to a board. Maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there. Pretty much gifted in first base with the quick free pass. First and second, one out. Jorge digs in now. [Applause] And the first pitch misses for ball one. Could use a ground ball here. Something in the infield. Runner at first base. Get two. Get out of this. [Applause] Throw back in. Holds the runner at third. Base is now loaded. Only one away. Well, a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game. But all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. So bases loaded with one away. And here’s the catcher Logan Ohappy. [Applause] Pitches in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. [Music] [Applause] All loaded up. Dangerous hitter at the plate. And that one is downstairs. One ball, one strike. Way to lay off that pitch down. Rip towards third. Williamson over to second. And that’s two. But two come across to score in the inning courtesy of this two-run homer. And this is now a 2-1 ball game. Major League Baseball is on the show. Welcome back. We’re in the seventh. We have a new pitcher on the mound. Reed Deetmers. He’s having a ton of success facing left-handed hitters this season. So, this seems like a smart move to turn to him with a lefty at the plate. So, digging in first base Luke Ray and a strike. And I know you want to be patient as a hitter, but you got to be ready to jump on the first thing straight. And he got one right there. But left the bat on his shoulder. That’s inside. And now it’s even one and one. Swinging a foul out of play. looking to get the tying run on base outside with a breaking ball. [Applause] And that’s outside. Dominic Penzone in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. Got him. And the lead off hitter set down to open the seventh. A big first out here in the seventh via the punch out. Yeah, it just does so much to change the outlook of an important inning like this. You got the leadoff hitter so critical in setting the table when you got a tight game like this. So, a strikeout really puts them on their heels. Kenzone in now takes ball one off the plate. on the ground right side and he takes it himself for the out. If you want to be a great defense, you have to deliver consistently. It doesn’t matter how many highlight reel plays you make if you can’t execute the small stuff just like we saw. Ben Williamson up next for the Mariners. Swaying at a line drive. That’s a base hit into center field and that puts the tying run on base. Now batting number two, Cole Young up next for the Mariners. Young having a lot more success on the road this season. Come on. Here we go. Typically the outfield defense will play a little bit deeper just to keep the ball in front, make sure that runner on first doesn’t come all the way around to score and tie this ball game up. Well, with the tying run at first base, he’s looking for something he can get a lot of barrel on. Driving into a gap and score that run from first base and now two and nothing. Struggled a little bit in this one. Couple of strikeouts earlier, but doing a much better job in this at bat to get ahead and find a good hitter count at 2 and 0. Snap throw to first. Back in safe. Really close. Come on, Los Angeles. Good hitters count the 20 and fires in a fast ball at 95. Next offering is in for a strike. And there’s a ball. Great RBI spot here. Just got to stay focused on the pitch. The runner will be in motion. So something in the gap should definitely score it. JP Crawford in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. So now two on and two outs. Pretty much the last thing you want from your bullpin arms or free passes, especially in spots like this. Make the team earn their way on. Manager out of the dugout now. And it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound. Reed Deetmers out of the game and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base. Back with a new pitcher after this. Now pitching for So the Angels turn to their bullpen for a new pitcher, Brock Burke. These are the spots where Levers really make a name for themselves late and close. There’s not much margin for error, but at the same time, there’s a reason they’re put in these situations. So the tying run in scoring position now. JP Crawford gets a chance to hit. One for three. And that one is lifted in the air. Solair sizes this one up. And that’s the third out. Mariners leave a couple. They’re down two to one. [Music] We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh. Number 23. And he’s been hit pretty hard at times this year. So he’s looking for better right now. Giving up more than a hit per in any. Well, one run game. And here is Luis Rango. He’s 0 for one. Tranipo line drive and foul ball. Here comes the one and it’s fouled away. That one almost got him. That one ripped. Fair ball. Well, he found himself behind in the count right there, but he didn’t give in. Just a solid swing right there. caught it out front and rifted into the outfield for the base hit. Those always feel great. And next for LA, Kevin Newman. Corner infielders up on the grass expecting a bunt. Runner on the move. Twig and a miss. Throw save. That’s a stolen base. Runner at second. Nobody out. [Applause] into center dives and it gets by the throw in. Not in time and we’ve got runners at first and third to open the inning. Two consecutive base hits for these guys here. He clearly didn’t catch that one on the big part of the bat. Just kind of muscled it out there and on the mound. It can be pretty frustrating for a pitcher, but you just kind of have to expect those to drop in there sometimes. So in now for the Angels, Zack Neto and that one wrapped foul in the infield at the corners. Don’t be surprised to see them come home first and prevent that run from scoring. Runners on the corners, no outs. Let’s go now. This one in the dirt. Nothing happening as the count evens at one. That’s in there and the count one and two. Well, in this situation with a runner on first, less than two outs, some say, “Hey, get the ground ball. Double play with two strikes.” Some people say get the strike out. I think you just execute your pitch. Make the best pitch you. That’s a base hit. Run scores. Comes through with the RBI. Pitch was away, so he definitely pulled off it there. Not what you want to do with the pitch in that location really, but he was able to guide it into the outfield for the knock. [Applause] And here’s the first baseman, Nolan Showell, back in the six. He drove a two-run shot out of here to help them get the lead they’re working with. Yeah, definitely one of the bigger moments in this game so far. And it could be one we look back on when this game is over as well. Off the plate. Ball one. He’s getting a little frustrated out there on the mound getting hit around a little bit. Let’s see if he can settle himself down. [Applause] And that’s in there for a strike. And now it’s even 1-1. [Applause] Check swing. Cold strike. and down on strikes and one gone. Oh, that’s almost just not fair with that pitch. I mean, until the very last second looked like it was going to be well in off the plate, but the armside run brought it right back to catch the inside corner. Tell you what, frustrating as a hitter, you give up on the pitch. I honestly don’t know what you’re supposed to do with that as a hitter other than just tip your calf as you walk back to the dugout. And now the designated hitter for the Angels, Mike Trout. First pitch doesn’t find his own. No strike. [Applause] That one missed. Last two pitches have been down in the zone. Pitcher clearly trying to get that ground ball double play. But in this count, he’s going to have to give in, elevate his pitches, and get back into this at bat. [Applause] The 20 is in for a strike. Well, I think that pitch surprised all of us right down the middle. Doesn’t get a swing. Not very often you see a hitter lay off a cookie like that. That one not close. Ball three. This is a really good feeling for a hitter at this point in the ball game. You know that they don’t want to walk you. So, you’re going to get a pitch to hit. You just better not miss it. Hard grounder into the outfield for a knock. Newman around third now. A long throw home. Save and they lead by three. Oh, they call that an advantage count for a reason. You’re so much more likely to get something you can handle. There’s nothing cheap about the way he got that one through the infield. That was ripped. caught out in front and didn’t get under it like he would have liked, but definitely put a good swing on it. Manager out of the dugout and he’s going to make a change. Number 23. Won’t go any further. It’s a three-run game and we’ll be back to tell you about the new arm in a minute. Now pitching for on the mound now, Edward Bazardo, number 83. And this is appearance number 45. Lazardo. Taylor Ward the next to hit for the Angels [Applause] and ball one. [Applause] And now it’s even up. One ball, one strike. There’s the swing in a bit. Knowing that the pitcher wants a ground ball double play opportunity here. You’ve got to lay off pitches down in the zone right there. Swinging at that pitch. That’s a no no. Two on, one out. Bows that off to the left and will do it again. [Music] [Applause] Got him swinging. Well, when you throw the same pitch back to back, that’s how you want to do it. Set him up in the strike zone, then extend a little bit from there and see if you can get him to chase. Nicely done with the slider right there. And next for the Angels, Joe Adele. [Applause] First pitch just misses. Come on. Let’s go. And that’s in there for a strike. The slider that finds Lamar. Two outs. Couple of base runners at first and second. [Applause] Next offering in the dirt. Two balls, two strikes. [Applause] Here’s [Applause] a swing and a drive left field and he knew it. He made him pay for that one. His 22nd homer of the year and they throw three on the board. It’s 71. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself. And bat after at bat, he’s that confident. A good hitter gets pitch recognition early. He saw exactly where that was going to be. The challenge, not get over anxious and come out of your swing. He stayed on it and got all of it. Jorge Solair will hit next. First offering and it just misses [Applause] and that one is inside. [Applause] No, that’s the ball. Offense exploding for five so far in the inning here. The bottom of the seventh. Fast ball for a strike at 95. 3-1. A big swing and a miss. Count outside and that is ball four. What a battle. It’s not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch. And I tell you what, he earned that wall. Now it’s going to be Logan O’H for three in this one. Ball one, no strikes. [Applause] O, that one went straight back and got our ump right in the mask. Let’s hope he’s okay. Two outs and a foul ball. Fights that one away. Still one and two. Solair off of first with two away. [Music] [Applause] Swing and a ground ball. Base hit right field. Throw in holds the lead. Runner at second. Two on now with two away. Luis Reano now at the plate. [Applause] Fast ball for a strike. One and one. First and second, two down. Fouled off to the right. Oh, and two now. That one down the line and that’s just foul. [Music] [Applause] Two on, two outs. And they’ll do it again. the O2. Good job to fight that one off. Also really good at bat. What I like about this guy, his bat stays in the zone for a long time. Gives him the ability to foul off tough pitches. Yeah, that’s outside. Yeah, the count one and two. [Applause] Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Ninth pitch of the at bat. Do next inside and the count’s even at two. Two ball two strikes. [Applause] cut on and miss. Struck him out. Inning ends and that stops the bleeding. But not before five cross the plate with the big blow being this threerun homer. It’s 71. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Back here in a blowout, which gives us a chance to talk about just about anything, bro. Don’t get me fired. All right, Sigy, we’ve been in all the press boxes. You got best press box food. Uh, I’d say press box food because of the ice cream we have in Philadelphia. Shout out to our guy Frank. Yes. Uh New York for me is pretty good. Yankees. Yeah. Solid. Yeah. And up next for Seattle, Cal Raleigh. This guy is one of the best athletes in the sport. And that gets the top of the zone for a strike. Activity in the bullpen for the Angels. Connor Brogden up and throwing. Fulmer getting cranked up as well. One down. Base is empty. [Applause] And that misses. Going to count one and two. As far as ballpark food, one of my favorite places is San Francisco. Garlic fries. Yo, garlic fries. And you got the lobster roll out there in the outfield if you want to make the walk all the way out there. It’s great though broadcasting a game with that zoo breath where you could just I mean absolutely levitate some people with your with your breath. Just ran out of patience there. He took a couple of pitches to even that count up at two balls and two strikes but that time chased outside the zone and first offering is fouled off. But we got the crab fries in Philadelphia. Is that right? Yep. And then it’s been a long time for me. Boos barbecue at Oral Park. I knew you’d go there. That’s right. Yeah. Anyway, you can work in your name, huh? That’s right. Towards first. And that’s a fair ball. Oh, can’t pick it up cleanly around first. Heading for two. And he’ll make it to second base with two gone. Now batting the designated hitter. Jorge Palano the next to hit. Let’s go. Let’s go. And that’s through there for a strike. Go and one. No balls. One strike. Let’s go. Ball one there. man at second. So a foul ball makes it one and two. [Music] [Music] [Applause] and delivers outside. Man on second, two down. Foul ball and it remains a full count. [Music] [Applause] Swinging at a ball popped in the air. Dunks one into left. Coming home. Here’s the throw to the plate. Head for a slide and he’s safe. It’s seven to2. Now batting first. Luke up next for the Mariners. 0 for three with two strikeouts and a ground out. ball. Squirts away a little bit. [Applause] Swing and a miss. Strike one. One- one. [Applause] swings through that one for strike two. [Applause] And a foul ball. He stays alive. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Two outs. swings and misses. Struck him out. So, one run in the inning on this base hit. It’s now a 72 ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Trent Thornton. And with the big deficit on the scoreboard, he almost has to just put that out of his mind. Every outing matters for relievers and their numbers, but I think it’s tough to get up for this type of appearance the same way you would for one in a close game. So in for the Angels, Kevin Newman. Dubo smoked on the ground to second. Tosses to first and that’s one away as the leadoff man is out in the eighth. Really nice job to get your first out of the ball game. Zack Neto. Now here is Zack Neto. With this kind of lead, he can swing freely, try to hit the ball out of the park, do what he loves to do outside low and that’s ball one. Some activity in the Mariners bullpen. Casey Legumina, the young right-hander up and throwing. Base is empty, one away here in the bottom half of the eighth inning. And another ball. Last couple of pitches, breaking balls away. I think he’s going to have to come firm inside to be able to open up that location if he wants to go back there later in this count. You can do it, Angel. Out towards right center. That’s well struck. That’s got a chance. Pulls it in on the warning track. Thought I didn’t think he got it off the bat, but the wind made it a lot more interesting than expected. Nice job of the center fielder. puts it all the way back to the warning track, man. Two down, base is empty. Nolan Shanowell, the next to hit for the Angels. He’s already homerred here in this one. First offering misses badly for ball one. Little bit low. Down low. Two down on that one spoiled and the count now two and one. Went with the sweeper but it misses. Full count. Come on. Swinging a foul ball at the plate. They’ll do it again. Strike three. Got him with the back door breaking ball. And the Angels are gone in order, but they’re still on top seven to two. Now pitching. We’re back. It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Carson Fulmer. He’s making his fourth appearance of the season. Fulmer. And now for Seattle, Dominic Kzone 0 for three with three ground outs. [Applause] Swanging a miss. Strike one. [Applause] Back to the mound. He’s got it over to first and the leadoff man retired here in the ninth. Number nine. Here’s the third baseman, Ben Williamson. [Applause] On the outside corner for a strike and it’s 0 and one. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Connor Brockton appears to be getting loose. One down, base is empty. Now one and one. One ball, one strike. [Applause] Out to short. Needto throws to first. Two up, two down. Good fade and sinking action of that change up. Got that hitter to roll. Now batting number two. So last chance for the Mariners. Cole Young up next for the Mariners. A walk and a pair of strikeouts. [Applause] First pitch and he just misses. One ball, no strikes. [Applause] and base hit. Joey gets on base and keeps it going. Now batting shorts stop JP Crawford. Here’s the shortstop at the play. JP Crawford one for four with a double. First pitch misses 10. Young leads off first with two down to the inning. [Applause] And that’s downstairs and it’s 2 and 0. Ball three. Three ball. No strike. [Applause] And there’s the automatic [Applause] line drive and it goes just foul. [Applause] One strike away. Ringifo. That’s the ball game. Whether you’re a season ticket holder or you just come to a couple of games a year to see your team win at home, there’s just something special about that. Good job by this team to get it done for the hometown fans. 72 your final here today for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shami saying so long.
