The Sharks have built something SPECIAL…

The Sharks have built something special as many analysts around the league have been ranking Mike Greer’s off season very high. In this video, we’re going to break down why these moves are so special and why it’s causing them to be amongst some of the top names when talking about off seasons this year. And we’re going to talk about how big it is for this team going into this season and where we think they might rank. So, we got a lot to break down here. But with that said, uh like I said, there’s been a lot of analysts and a lot of chatter around uh the league from reporters that saying that this Sharks off season, they cooked. Mike Greer had a great off seasonason and a lot of people are talking about it, especially the athletic. Uh the other day we talked about how great the prospects have been, but the today we’re talking about how big of the moves of bringing the veterans in have made for the Sharks and the Athletic has them as the first ranked team amongst all 32 in offseason, saying they have had the best offseason among any team in the NHL. And I think I have to agree with them. The moves that Mike Greer has made this off season have been phenomenal and it gives this team a chance to compete, which is what we’ve been asking for. So now having a mix of young guys who are, you know, still developing and finding their games, but you know, really excelling at it. You know, guys like Will Smith, Malcolrini having great second halves of the year and a great world championship as well. and William Mecklund, a guy who’s been consistent all year. Having them a year more experience under their belts, bringing in these veteran guys is really going to help their games grow. And as they say here, their net rating addict was plus 26. Bringing in a long list of names here, Jeff Skinner, Adam Goddet, Philip Kurv, Dmitri Orof, John Clingberg, Nick Ley, and Alex Nadelkovich with Kovaleeno. market where Velic going the out as well as Henry Thun and Alexander Gorgiev and you look at this list there is a lot of changes in this Sharks roster and I think a lot of them are better changes. Obviously Henry Thun was the young guy that left here but bringing in as many players as they had uh this off seasonason is only going to help this team going forward. They do go on to say in this article that Jeff Skinner is one of the biggest names that they did add because he they say he’s usually best on struggling teams. He has offensive ability to play in the top six but doesn’t have the defensive chops to make it worth in the work in the bottom six on a good team. So that’s why I do think he will be uh in the you know probably second line left wing slot. He’s a he’s home and should fit the Mikuel Granland void fine and I definitely agree with that. Obviously, he’s a guy who’s going to finish uh a finish around the net. He’s going to bury those goals in when you know, Will Smith or Michael Misa, if he does make it, are delivering him passes on a platter. He is really going to stack up the golden total here in San Jose in the early half of the season. And who knows, if San Jose is in the mix, maybe they don’t move these guys out at trade deadline and maybe they try to go for it and get that last wild card spot because I definitely think it’s it’s possible. I know a lot of you guys in the comment section don’t think it’s possible. I think it is. I mean, we seen it with Montreal last year. You look Montreal going into the season, everybody thought they’re going to finish at the bottom of the Atlantic again. And while they do went in, it creeped up, creeped up, flipped the switch and got that last wild card spot. So maybe it sounds ace time to do that as well. We did also talk about the defensive moves as well, which might be the biggest. Obviously, we see Orlof coming in as a top four two-way guy. Great puck moving guy as well, as well as Clingberg having the potential to uh keep his playoff turnaround going uh quarterbacking this power play after moving out Wman. I think he fills the void of Wman as well. I really do like Clingberg and I think a lot of you guys are going to fall in love with him as the season begins. and Nick Ley, he’s more of the seventh guy going to rotate in or out for Shakir Muk Magdullan in this lineup, I do believe. Uh, so I like the defensive moves a lot by Mike Greer this off seasonason. I think it’s something going into it that a lot of us were saying, “Hey, we need something.” And they went out and did that. obviously keeping Ferraro last year at the deadline, keeping him so far this off season. They’re kind of just sheer shearing up this uh defensive core so that Ascrooft doesn’t have too hard of a time in his first full-time uh gold goalending start with um you know the San Jose Sharks or just full-time game game load uh in his I guess rookie season it would be this year. So interesting stuff there. I think it definitely, you know, makes sense for them to go out and make these defensive moves. I liked all the moves they did make. I think Henry Thrawn was a guy who was kind of the a man out and had to go, but I think he will be fine uh in in Leafland up there in Toronto. But they also go on to say that San Jose might likely be the a bottom team again, but they also say here that it gives them the chance to be competitive. And the thing I like about this that I think they don’t mention in this article that I know a lot of us who’ve watched the Sharks have been saying is, you know, these games have been tight. Yes, there has been blowouts, but there has been times when the Sharks have been last season were playing top teams in the league. They were only losing by one goal, you know, and an empty netter at times. So having bringing in a guy like Jeff Skinner and you know guys like Godette and all all these forwards that can provide some offense is really going to make the difference for this Sharks team because you know a onegoal game is easy to come back from especially if you have guys in your team that can score the goals and make the plays happen. You have the young guys that are exciting and creative and can create the plays and now you bring in some guys who can finish those off and create them create scoring chances into goals and that’s what he has done and that’s why I think they there’s something has has been special here. This they have something special here in San Jose. I think this season is a season where we are going to see turnaround. I don’t think they’re going to finish at the the bottom of the division this year. I know a lot of people want them to so that they can enter the G Gavin McKenna sweep stakes, but at the end of the day, if you don’t get McKenna, then it’s another wasted season in my opinion. So, I think there is a certain time where it needs to turn around and I do believe it is right now and just kind of wrapping up everything that we’ve seen this off seasonason by Mike Greer. This is an initial lineup that I like going into this season with Eklan celebrating to Foley that has been an exceptional line for this team. You don’t mess with that. And I see Jeff Skinner like I said being that second line left wing scoring those goals. I think he’s a guy uh playing with such great playmakers like Will Smith or Michael Misa will bury a lot of goals on that second line. Maybe even close to 20 30 goals. I I would put him up there in that range. I know Michael say it’s a question mark in the ear if he is going to play this season. I want him to. I know you guys want him to as well. So why not? Why don’t we get this guy in? I mean, he just had a 130 point season in the in the OL and the juniors. So get him in here. He’s definitely ready to go in my opinion. Then this is where it gets interesting in this bottom six. There’s a going to be a lot of, you know, switching up and down. I like Colin Graph in on this third line and maybe Godette on the fourth line with Reeves as an extra forward. Kind of just threw this together pretty quickly. Uh I do also like Oipachuk uh with Kurv and Reeves or maybe Goodro and Reeves maybe with Kurv up the third line. There’s going to be a lot of plugandplay in this bottom six, but it is a very interesting bottom six. These are a lot of two-way players. a lot of guys who can win board battles, can finish checks, are a bit more physical, but they also have offensive as well. You know, maybe not not Ryan Reeves. I mean, we know he’s pure physical guy. He’s there to protect the younger guys, but all these guys like Goodro and Kurichev and Godette, all these guys are brought in. These are more two-way guys. They’re they’re all 200 foot players. They’re dogs. They go out there, they, you know, they go out there and they they make work of their shift every time they’re on the ice. And I think this is going to be uh the the key essential perk for the Sharks uh competing this season is their bottom six being consistent with the offense. And I do think we will see that. I do like what they have uh here. No doubt about it. And like I alluded to earlier, the defense looks great. Ferraro and Lily, I like them together last season. I just think their games mesh well with each other. And I do think Orof and Clingberg’s games will also mesh well with each other. Clingberg being the more, you know, quarterback out of the pair. I mean, Orlaf is a great puck mover as well. I think these guys are gonna have some great chemistry. And the other one you see there is Sam Dickinson. I do really think it is his time to step up and become a San Jose Sharks and Don the Teal. I do think he will, you know, be up here. I think Shakir Mukulan is definitely an interesting period for him. I think Lety works as well, but I think you need this guy up in the NHL this season and I’m excited to see it. I think after winning CHL defenseman of the year, there’s nothing left for him in the juniors. So, he needs to go step up during training camp, during preseason to show this these coaching staff that he deserves a spot on this team. And he definitely does deserve it. But before we wrap up, I mean, this is the list of all the extra forwards. Can you see how many defensemen there is? There is or centers there is sorry there is eight centers right now that are just in the system for the San Jose Sharks which is absolutely disgusting. guys like Bstead who we talked about extensively last season, a guy who could pop up. Uh Colin White, a guy who sided as well, Cam Lond as well. And on the left side here, we see Reenda, a guy who uh who had a great playoffs as well, I believe, in the juniors with Musty and Sherneshoff, guys who I think if they have a a great camp, they can come up and make this Sharks team, too. So, there is a lot of great young guys and going into the season, we really don’t know what the roster is going to look like, but it is going to be a fun time. It’s going to be a fun end of the summer, seeing who makes this team, who doesn’t. I I’m excited. I think this team is really going to turn it around this year, and we’re going to see a better Sharks team than we have over the last couple of years. But I want to hear your guys’ thoughts down below in the comments section. Do you think I’m on to something? Do you think that they are going to turn it around this year? Love to hear from you guys. And if you made this far in the video, who do you want to see opening night out of all the prospects that the San Jose Sharks do have? 1. i read an article from a blackhawks writer saying that the sharks are making they same mistake they did last year. how the veterans are going to slow the progression of the kids.

  2. Grier is building a Dynasty even if only half of the Players he's drafted turn out to be as good as He thinks (We have a Bunch). The only thing that might get in the way will be the Salary Cap Hell were going to be in 4 to 5 Years from now!

  3. My thing with the sharks is that they gave up zetterlund, granlund, sturm, hertl, ceci, walman, kunin amd others to make room for more young talent yet go and sign a bunch of veterans🤦🏽‍♂️yes I get that we got some ok returns for these transactions but come on. We could’ve kept most of these people. They already had great chemistry with the young ones and were absolute gems for our team in a time where we were dead last in the league.

  4. There is still a lot to look forward to this offseason as well. GMMG did not rule out making anymore moves. Like the Askarov trade late last offseason, if GMMG sees a good deal he can bounce on it. Why? Funny you asked:

    1) He has all of his draft picks for the 2026 draft he started the offseason with (7 with 2 in the first, second and fourth rounds).
    2) He has over 20 mil in cap space as of today (third most in the NHL).
    3) He has almost every prospect he entered the offseason with (exceptions of Henry Thrun and Thomas Bordeleau).

He has all the assets he started with at the beginning of the offseason and with only 8 or so players under contract past next season he can move those as well to complete a deal.

Last mention is next offseason. The Sharks will be in the following position next offseason as it stands today:

    1) They have 7 picks in the next draft (2 in the first, second and fourth) with the expectation that they will be drafting high again in an expected deeper draft comparable to the 2023 and 2024 drafts.
    2) They only have 8 or so players under contract past next season (Celbrini, Eklund, Smith, Gaudette, Toffoli, Orlov, Goodrow and Askarov).

    3) GMMG will have 60+ million of cap space.
    4) With all that cap space GMMG can resign any player he thinks fits into the teams rebuild.
    5) With another year of development from players like Celebrini, Mukhamadullin, Graf, Smith, Eklund and Askarov and including a better team overall they will be a more attractive landing spots for what is to be a much deeper FA class next offseason.
    6) returning the coaching staff and keeping more of a core group the team's consistency will increase as well as familiarity. Less playing with lines and more stability.
    7) More young players like Thompson, Cagnoni, Lund, Chernyshov, Cardwell, Musty and Bystedt will be taking spots in the lineup decreasing the need for FAs.

GMMG will be in a greater position of strength next offseason than he has been since becoming the Sharks GM. It is on purpose and part of his rebuilding plan. The future should continue to get brighter.

We are just along for the ride. The future is teal.
