MLB LIVE🔴 Minnesota Twins vs Washington Nationals – Jul 25, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

with Chris Singleton. I’m John Shi. The first half of the All-Star break is behind us and partner, it’s go time in the second half. And if you want to be playing meaningful games at the end of September, you got to put your head down and grind for the next eight weeks. It’s the Washington Nationals taking on the Minnesota Twins. All right, we’ll be back to get this one started after this. Almost ready to get underway. Towing the slab in today’s game, David Festa. What do you got on him, Chris? Well, that whip is just below the league average, and that’s a good thing in this case, not allowing too many base runners. So, on most days, he’s going to go out there and compete and put his team in a position to win. And I expect to see that from him in this one today. Ready to go. Here’s CJ Abrams to him. down the middle for a strike and we’re underway. The pitch swing and he really sells the change up with that arm action. gets a piece and it stays 0 and two. [Applause] Swings and misses. Struck him out. That high forcing fast ball has become such a staple as a strikeout pitch over the years. And what’s so tough as a hitter is that you see it extremely well. The problem is the velocity at spin rate just happens to jump by you. You expand your zone. You don’t stay tall on the backside and you’re really not even able to make contact. If you do, many times it’s a popup. This to third in plenty of time to first. Quick start here this evening. Two out. Top of the first. All right, let’s take a look at the lineup. Someone who makes things happen for them in part with his legs. Jacob Young. Well, Boo, there aren’t many guys who have a flare for the big moment like he does. I mean, batting over 400 with runners in scoring position. Are you kidding me? I I know it’s not guaranteed or an automatic, but I hope we get to see him in a close late game situation with runners in scoring position and just see is he truly a machine or not. Josh Bell in now takes ball one off the plate. Bell in his ninth season, 32 years old, and he’s usually a first baseman, but today he’s the designated hitter. Some people say that first baseman kind of have the day off regularly because they don’t run around a whole lot, but when you think about it, they are involved in just about every single play and there’s a lot of stress that gets put on their legs. So, a welldeserved day at the DH spot for him. Just that’s a ball. Next offering is fouled back and they’ll do it again. Two down to swing and a miss. Struck him out. Nats go down one, two, three. Nationals go quietly. And now the Twins will go to work on offense. We’ve got no score. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. Back at Target Field, our starting pitcher in this one, Jake Irvin. How about a report on him, Chris? Well, he’s been a real quality starter for his club. And coming into this one, what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the year. It seems that they have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone. So, we’ll see how right-handers do against him in this one. And now for the Twins, Byron Buckton. [Applause] Bounding ball here. Rolls foul on the inside corner for a strike. and ball one. I don’t think he was trying to miss by that much in an 02 count. Just tried to overthrow that Struck him out looking. Oh, you know that’s got to be very frustrating for this guy. He knows the strike zone extremely well. And you know what? Good hitters are not going to compromise. He’ll take that punch out but ultimately stick with his plan and have more success than anything else. This is Willie Castro. That one outside and it’s one and0. One out. Base is empty. That one fouled off. So a foul ball makes it one and two. And that one missing low. [Applause] One down, base is empty. Strike three. And that’s two in a row. No, anytime you can punch out the top two guys in a lineup to start an inning, got to be feeling pretty good out there on the mound because when you think of just having a distraction, table setters on the base paths and all of a sudden you’re dealing with a number three hitter. Any distraction can cause you to serve up a cookie and instead of it being a solo shot, it’s a two or three run homer. looks really sharp at the start of this one. This is how it’s going to be today. It’s going to be a tough one for this lineup. Ball one and two misses. That’s the ball. All two. Really good take, especially with two strikes. That one missed. He’s really tightening up his hitting zone with two strikes here. I love it. swings through him for the K and he strikes out the side in the first. Nothing doing here for the Twins. Scoreless after one. Back in Minnesota. Top of the second. Here’s Nathaniel Low. 33. Nathaniel Low. Come on, David. Festa back to work and drops in for a strike. Belly left that change up. Got away with one there and he’ll take it, but doesn’t want to make that mistake again. And takes low for ball one. Our umpire for this one, Freddy Ferguson. A consistent umpire by all accounts. Yeah, I think the book on him is that he’s not necessarily by the book with his strikes on, but once you figure out where he’s calling strikes, you can pretty much count on him to stay with that throughout the game. And misses inside. Yeah. I mean, he’s a guy that has a reputation for being fergicious. Yes. And you know, whatever. Fergalicious. outside ball and that’s their first base runner of the game. Maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there. Pretty much gifted him first base with a quick free pass. Wow. Brady House now at the plate. Highfly ball on that one. Curling foul down the right side. [Music] the one. They tried to get him to chase on a slider down and away. Second inning here. No score. Swing and a miss. And it’s one and two. Wow, no fair right there. I mean, that slider didn’t move till the very last moment. Incredibly difficult to pick that up. Just kind of have to tip your cap on that pitch. And that one way outside. Two and two. [Applause] Cut misses. It’s a strike out. Just indecisive in that at bat. He couldn’t commit to the slider. Tried to sit in between. just not able to put the bat on the ball. Stepping in Dalen Lyle. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. [Applause] Low stands at first with one out. [Music] Here we go. Just miss one. One ball. comes up empty. That’s strike two. Two and two. Swaying in a ball popped in the air. Base hit. They fired in quickly. So, it’s first and second with only one away. The second baseman, Ahmed Rosario. And now it’s Ahmed Rosario. [Applause] And that one fouled off. [Applause] Slider misses outside. [Music] Two on, one out. Ball outside. Good spot for the hitter. Definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on. Look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch. [Applause] Offbalance feed. There’s one to first. Not in time. Great effort there. The catcher, Riley Adams. So, up next, Riley Adams. It’s early, but these at bats can impact a game just as much as they do later. Here’s a chance to set the tone early for your team. And a fast ball misses outside for a ball. And that’s ball one. Two on, two outs. Swing and a miss. And it’s one and one. I think he was sitting off speed there. [Music] Swing a miss. And that’s strike two. Really going after him here. All fast balls to get ahead in the count. Right through there. They get four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Well, this guy competes hard. You see the emotion there. I love it. Great job of getting out of the jam. And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom half of inning number two. Ryan Jeffers at the plate. Jeffers and he pumps in a strike. Jeff started after it, tried to hold up. Now a look to first and Joe McDonald’s as he went around [Music] outside with a breaking ball. making four strikeouts in a row. Just cruising along. Thought it was a pretty good pitch. Top of the strike zone. We’re seeing more fast balls in that location. Hitters, especially with two strikes, have to be ready to pull the trigger. Cody Clemens, the next twin up to hit. That clips the zone. That’s strike one. Bow and one swing and a miss as he was out front that time. Two strikes outside low and account one and two. That’s down and in. [Applause] Next pitch is outside. Full count. [Music] Liner snagged at first. It put a really good swing on that pitch and hit the ball hard. Line drives don’t always find a hole, but the more you can hit the ball like that with X and VO, the better off you’re going to be in the long run. Now Koreah up to hit. swing and a fly ball well struck left field. Makes the catch and that is the third out of the inning. We’ll move to the third with no score. And we’re back. Digging in, it’s the speedy outfielder Jacob Young. He’s already set a new career best for stolen bases in a season. Chris in the air left field down the line. Bader makes the grab. One down. Good pitch. He just kind of had him out in front on that pitch away and wasn’t able to stay close. CJ Abrams now. He was a strikeout victim his first time. Inside just missed. One and0. Swing. And this one’s bounced to the ground. Throw to first in time. The left fielder number 29 James Wood. Now the number two hitter James Wood grounded out his first time up and that drops in for a strike. Oh and one two outs. Base is empty. and he can’t come up with it. Still fires to first out number three. Nothing doing it for Washington. And we’re still kned at zero. [Applause] Set for the bottom of the third. Here’s the third baseman, Royce Lewis. Right through there for a strike in the air left field. Lays out, but he can’t squeeze it. Just a little hit behind third right there. That’s a really tough play for a third base or shortstop to get to and the same for the left fielder. So, he just found a perfect place to drop that one in right there. And now Matt Walmer [Applause] in there and it’s one. Lewis gets his lead at first with nobody out. [Applause] And that’s a fair ball. Throw back in quickly. First and second now with nobody out. Didn’t exactly square that one out. Sometimes you don’t have to. Maybe a little out front of the pitch right there, but he squared it up pretty good and he kept it inside the line and just a really nice job on the other side by the defense to hold that to a long single. Runner in scoring position now and a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game. And now Bader up to the plate and the first pitch misses for ball one. in the air right side. Ly pulls it down and he makes the catch and there’s one down. The center fielder number 25 Byron Buckton. Here’s Byron Buckton 0 for one after striking out looking to start the game. If you don’t get ahead in the count, you can forget about having any success against it. And that one clips the corner. Getting a little frustrated with the strike zone. bounced to third, but it kicks foul. [Applause] Two on, one out. Ball one there. Way to lay off that pitch down. He’s looking for a ground ball to get a double play and out of this jam on the ground. Two ball off balance feed. There’s one to first. Not in time. Great effort there. Well, an aggressive slide at second base, but it was legal. I like it because you’re trying to break up the double play and it looked like the slide impacted the throw a little bit. Nice job by the base runner. So, digging in, Willie Castro struck out swinging his first time. And there’s the ball. Wow. [Applause] [Applause] And that is out of play. [Applause] And a 1-1. Hit in the air left field. And that drops foul. [Applause] Rosario tosses to first and that is that twin strand a pair still no score as we go to the top of the fourth. And now the DH Josh Bell fast ball for a strike. Bell has been incredibly efficient this one. First pitch strike percentage over 70%. That’s well above league average and that’s what’s allowed him to pitch well up until this point. [Applause] Outside low and the count is one and two. Got him looking and he did not like the call. Wow, that’s a tough call for the hitter, but the pitcher will take that all day long. not quite in the strike zone, but he found a spot that the umpire is going to, at least for now, allow him to get that call. So, hitters are going to have to make an adjustment, but pitchers are going to learn from those things and really try to exploit him if they can. Nathaniel Low up to hit and a foul ball. The one swings through that one for strike two. Threw that fast ball right by him. Slightly elevated. That’s a confidence boost for this guy out there on the mound. See if he continues to climb the ladder. Chases in the dirt slider there and it beats him for out number two. That’s a strike out. Oh, really went aggressive in with that slider. Good two strike pitch right there. At worst case scenario, it’s weak contact in play. Exactly where he and the catcher wanted it. Brady House getting ready to hit and first offering is fouled off. Fast ball on the inside corner for a strike. Two down, nobody on. Top half of inning number four and ball one. Too close for me partner to take that O2 fast ball, but for whatever reasons he let it go by. He’s still in the at bat. I don’t think he’ll let the next one go. Two outs to third. The throw to first and he has thrown four shut out innings. Three up, three down for Washington. And we are still scoreless. Back at target field, here’s Trevor Lick, the designated hitter. Lick in his fourth year. 28 years old. And though usually in left field, today he’s the designated hitter. First pitch misses. Some guys don’t like not being able to play defense because it helps him to stay in the rhythm. So, for him to be the DH, we’ll see if he gets a routine together. The 1-1 is fouled off [Music] and a one-two swing and a ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. man aboard on the leadoff single back against the wall with two strikes but found a once you get the ball the pitcher there’s a lot of base hits up the middle even on ground balls so a nice job to use that big hole and get himself a hit Brian Jeffers the next twin up to hit 0 for one first offering And it just misses. [Music] [Applause] And a pop off right side. Foul territory. He’s got it. And there’s one away. Those can be pretty fun as an outfielder. to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. Cody Clemens will hit next. 0 for one so far. There’s the strike up high and one. Well, we call that keyholeing. Even though it’s right there and looks pretty good, if he doesn’t love it, he’s not going to swing that early in the count. They get one tag out at second. It’s a double play. And just like that, the inning is over. No runs, one hit, no errors, and no one left. We’ve played four. We’re tied nothing. Nothing. All set for the start of the inning. Leading off, Dalen Ly. Deny. Festa back to work and a breaking ball misses outside. You know, these Nationals as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate. Chasing pitches has been a big part of the story. We’ve seen it quite a bit today. It’s been tough for them to make contact at times and it just doesn’t look like they’re seeing it very well as a group. And a strike on the outside corner. One and two. And on the mound, you know, confidence has to be pretty high with all of the swings and misses. He’s had them eaten out of the palm of his hand pretty much all game. This ball’s chopped on the ground. Castro tosses to first. One away here in the fifth. The batter, the second baseman, Ahmed Rosario. Next to hit for the Nats, Ahmed Rosario for one. He hit into a fieldielder’s choice his first time. Just that miss. That’s the ball. All tied up and we’re at the top of the fifth. A swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. One and one. shortened a bunt and missed it. Going to count one and two. Oh, tried to bunt for a hit right there and you can tell he’s trying to get something, anything going offensively. Misses off the plate and the count’s even at two. That’s down and in. A slider missed. [Music] outside and that is ball four. It’s not easy laying off that pitch. It’s designed to fool you, but he just wasn’t fooled at all. Go ahead run on base and the batter now Riley Adams struck out looking his first time. That one’s in there. Strike one. [Music] Yeah, big swing and a miss quickly in an 02 count. You got to figure out a way to shorten your path to the baseball. Put it in play somewhere. Then you got a chance. Just off the outside edge. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Make it seven strikeouts for him. And stepping in is the speedy Jacob Young. Fly to left his first time. Fast ball is outside. Well, if he’s going to steal second, you want him to go early in the count. That way, he’s not a distraction to the hitter at the plate. Go ahead, Rosario on the move. Pitch is low and safe. It’s a stolen base. Chris, his wheels were the difference maker on that play. Just got in there. Yeah, with Statcast’s help, we see his top speed on this stolen base. And that’s a big number. I mean, man, he really made his athleticism work for him on that one. Hammer base hit headed for the plate. He scores and they have the lead. It’s an RBI single. One- nothing. Oh, that was a great job of letting that runner steal second base, get in the scoring position, come through with the base knock, you add a run. Back to the top of the lineup. CJ Abrams digging in for the Nationals. 0 for two in this one. And there’s the strike. Young the runner at first with two gone. Here goes the runner. Pitch in for a strike. And that’s a stolen base. Not even close. Here’s what I think the manager is thinking right now. Today we’re not driving the ball. It’s hard to get extra base hits. We’ve got to make something happen to get a runner in the scoring position. That stolen base. Excellent call. Now all it takes is perhaps a single to put a run on the board. [Applause] Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. Runner at second. Two down. Gets a piece and stays alive. Man at second. Up the middle. divides and he can’t hang on. The throw won’t get there in time and now they have runners at the corners. Good two strike hitting right there, Boo. A bit of a lost start for some. So that was nicely done to beat the odds. He got that front foot down and pitch recognition was on point. Pretty impressive for an 02 count. So two outs with runners on the corners. James Wood the next to hit. He’s grounded out a couple of times. And he takes one right on the black. Going one. [Music] Just missed some movement in the Twins bullpen. Chris Paddock preparing to come on if needed. Topa, the hardthrowing right-hander up as well. [Applause] Corners are occupied with two down. [Applause] And that one missing inside. A sharp slider [Applause] in the air to left center. Bader grabs it on the run, but the RBI single pushes across a run. It’s now one- nothing. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Back in Minnesota, we head to the bottom of the fifth. And now for the Twins, Carlos Koreah. Well, these fans definitely want to get involved in the game. All it’s going to take is to get the leadoff man or even a base runner on in there at the knees for a strike. Well, he’s been incredibly efficient in this one. First pitch strike percentage over 70%. That’s well above league average and that’s what’s allowed him to pitch well up to this point. And a count one and two stays alive. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Highfly ball out towards left center. Young on the move to the gap, puts it away for the out. [Music] Now batting the third baseman. Here’s Royce Lewis. One for one with a single so far. [Applause] Pulls that one foul. The Nets leading by a run. Last half of inning number five. go. Yeah, that’s fouled off. [Music] 0 and two now. And that skips in the [Music] [Applause] ball high. Next offering is outside. Slice the other way. That’s a base hit. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Couple of hits in a row for him here. Just a really nice approach to shoot that line drive to the opposite field. There’s a lot of hard work and discipline that goes into getting a result like that at the plate. Doesn’t come naturally for most hitters. And next for Minnesota, Matt Walner, and he’s already singled in this game. Pitch misses. And that is ball one. [Applause] Swinging a foul out of play. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] And that one fouled off [Applause] outside loan and it’s a full count on this count. Runner not known for his speed but I think you got to put him in motion. Try to avoid a double play here. Bo dri to right way back there and that is gone. [Applause] And the Twins have the lead now. It’s 21. Listen to these fans. This place is absolutely buzzing right now. You can feel the energy all the way up here in our broadcast booth. [Applause] knew what pitch he wanted to hit. Spent on some other pitches in this at bat. Was very patient and it paid off. [Applause] One down. So up next for Minnesota, Harrison Bader [Applause] check swing called strike. That’s strike one. Still only one out here in the inning. One and one. [Applause] Fly ball center field. Young. He makes the grab. Two down. It’s a good recovery though after giving up the home run. Not allowing it to stay in the head, but going to work at the next hitter. And a tough one at that. And here’s the Twins leadoff guy, Byron Buckton. Right through there for a strike. Well, I think that pitch surprised all of us. Right down the middle. Doesn’t get a swing. Not very often you see a hitter lay off a cookie like that. There’s the strike. Well, he didn’t like those first two pitches. Now in an 02 hole, he’s going to have to battle. Hope he gets a mistake. That missed inside. Now one and two. [Applause] Swing and a hard hit. grounder to third. Tosses across the first that takes care of Bustin. Inning over, but the Twins bring in two on the homer. And this is now a 2-1 ball game. Major League Baseball is on the show. We’re back and they make a change to start the sixth. The new pitcher. still a lot of game left and this game could go either way. So, this is a big opportunity for him to get some important outs and try to help carry this lead into the later innings. Here’s Josh Bell for two with a pair of strikeouts. [Applause] That one finds the zone and that’s strike one. [Applause] ball. Doublebarreled action in the bullpen. Rock Stewart warming up for manager Roco Baldelli. Cologne getting cranked up as well. [Applause] [Applause] And that’s a strike out looking. He’s got to be frustrated with that call. Well, he’s going to have some thinking to do when he leaves the ballpark after this one. That was his third strike out and this one looking obviously. So, he’s been a little overmatched. He’s got to find a way just to be more competitive up there at the plate. Nathaniel Low digging in for the Nationals. That’s off the mark. Ball one. One down. Base is empty. That’s through there for a strike. Justice that’s outside ball. Next offer in there for a strike. Two and two now. Got him. coming out of the bullpen door. Well, this is exactly what you’re looking for from your bullpen arm when you roll them out there to start a new inning, hold on to a small lead. Just such a stabilizing effect and not only get the first two hitters, but to strike them out. That gives everyone on defense a big boost of confidence. Brady House now at the plate. Just missed. One ball, no strikes. Two down. Nobody on. Nice grab to first and they got the out. First, it looks like making the stop is the hardest part, but feeding to the pitcher on the move, I think even tougher. Great job of hitting that moving target. They’re going to be fired up in the dugout. [Applause] And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom of the six. Now it’s the second base, Willie Castro. Castro, and there’s the strike. And a ground ball to first. Low takes it himself. Leadoff man retired in the six. Now batting the designated hitter, Trevor Lick. So now here’s the DH. Trevor Lick. One for two. And a first pitch fast is in for a strike. The Nationals have some action going in the pen. Mike Sarroa looks to be getting ready for Dave Martinez. Ferrer getting loose as well. Base is empty. One away here in the bottom of the sixth. Swings and misses. And it’s 0 and two. 02. Hacks and misses. It’s a strikeout. It’s almost like he’s telling the guys in the bullpen, “Stand down. I got this.” Now batting catcher rug. Two down. Base is empty. And now here is Ryan Jeffers. Swing and a pop off in foul ground. House makes the grab and that’ll end the inning. Offense held in check there. Seventh inning coming up. It’s the Twins two and the Nats one. And we’re back. And here is Den Ly. Dalen L. [Applause] That one drilled left field and a base hit right there and the tying run is on with a leadoff single. Oh, no waiting around right there. He was ready to swing it on the first pitch. Nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line. You know, hitters, they take so many reps in the cages, working on going to the opposite field, and it doesn’t always translate into the game, but right there it did, and he did it perfectly. And now, let’s see if they force some action with good wheels on the bases. And now Ahmed Rosario. And that one fouled off with the go ahead run at the plate here in the top half of inning number seven. And that is out of play. This is one of those situations defensively where you can’t try to do too much. You got to make sure that you feel the ball cleanly and get one out first. It’s going to be tough to get two with this kind of speed in the batters box. [Applause] Slider misses outside with two strikes. May see some movement over there at first base. Trying to stay out of the double play right here on the ground to short. Could be two. There’s one not in time at first. It’s a fieldielder’s choice. Oh, we talked about how the ball is coming out of her pitcher’s hand. The way it comes out of his hand as an infielder. Wow. Really impressive. And it’s the catcher for the Nationals, Riley Adams. Here’s the pitch. Runner goes. That’s in for a strike. Safe at second. And that was not close. And the tying run is now in scoring position. Well, it seems like 90 ft is such a big deal in a tight one-run game like this one. Maybe it’s a little bit risky, but they felt good about it and it paid off. Let’s see if they can turn this into a big run. Inside move to second. Rario dives back in. Good wheels out there on second and he’s getting a pretty big lead right now. Definitely looking to score on any hit to the outfield. So the tying run at second. Ruer goes again. Hopped up. Caro calls it in and there’s two away. [Applause] [Music] Jacob Young digging in for the Nationals. RBI knock for him last time. Now a chance to drive in another run. This is what stat nerds like myself might call a high leverage situation. Yeah, boo. Not sure what the numbers say, but clearly an at bat that could change the course of this game dramatically. He swings and hits a fly ball center field and it drops in. Runner from second crosses the plate. It’s an RBI single and this game is tied in the seventh. First pitch swing in went up there with a plan to be aggressive. These days most outfielders play pretty deep and I’m not sure if that was a factor there or not, but off the bat you’re thinking it’s going to be a pop out and it just kind of nestled into that spot where no one was able to get to it. And now a chance to maybe get creative on offense with good speed on first. Swaging a bouncer. Offbalance throw in time and that is that. But they pick up one run on the RBI single and we’re deadlocked now at two apiece. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. We’re back and a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh, Luis Garcia. And he’s been hit pretty hard at times this year. So, he’s looking for better right now. Giving up more than a hit per inning. And now for the Twins, Cody Clemens. The first baseman, Cody Garcia measures 6’2 in, 240 lb, and he was born in the Dominican Republic. Yeah, the pitch is in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. Next offering is fouled back. [Music] [Music] That one just missing inside. Now one and two. One ball, two strikes. And that’s in the [Applause] That one back up the middle and it gets through. The lead off single and the go ahead run is aboard. The batter number four. Really nice job staying up the middle with his approach. He didn’t try to do too much with just shot it through the infield. And here comes Carlos Kareah. [Applause] Late swing fouled off. The go-ahead run aboard at first. Nobody out. [Applause] Misses inside and the count is one and one. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. [Applause] That one missing inside [Applause] and that gets the inside corner for a strike. Definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside. Really think the outer half is open. [Music] Swing get a ball popped up. Rosario brings it in. One away. Now batting third baseman Royce Lewis. Royce Lewis the next twin up to hit. He’s two for two. just missed. Wow. [Applause] That’s a strike and it’s one and one. One away, tie game. Go ahead run stands a first. Fights that one away. Still one and two. [Music] [Applause] fights it off. He’ll see another [Applause] the one two. Chases that one out of the zone. That’s out number two. First strike out for him in this one. That splitter is maybe the goto pitch when he’s looking for a swing and miss like that. He throws it quite a bit. That’s a good example of the effect it can have on a hitter. And next for Minnesota, Matt Walmer. He’s already homered in this game. On the ground right side, Rossario. That’s the third out. Inning over. One left for Minnesota. Score remains 2-2. Welcome back. And a new arm on the mound to start the eighth. Danny Kulom. He’s been so good against lefties. For the Twins, number 54, Danny. James Wood digs in now. 0 for three in this one. The left fielder number 29 James Wood. Swang and a miss. And it’s 0 and one. Minnesota’s bullpen with some action. Yan Duron the closer is getting loose. [Applause] This one chopped on the ground but foul. Caught him looking for the kill. Wow. Short work to send it back in to start the inning. And no messing around either. All three pitches were in the strike zone. Attack mode all the way. And that’s pretty impressive given the pop he was dealing with at the plate. Josh Bell at the plate now. [Applause] Just off the inside edge. One down. Base is empty. Homeplayed umpire is trying to tighten things up a little bit. No, that’s down ball. Nathaniel Low in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. All tied up and we’re in the top of the eighth. Heha. [Applause] Swing and a highf fly ball out towards right center field. Drops into the glove and there are two down. How about it first Nathaniel Low. And next will be the cleanup hitter Nathaniel Low. A walk and a pair of strikeouts. [Applause] There’s the strike. Come on. And a swing and a miss. And that’s that. So they make short work of him there. Home half of inning number eight. Straight ahead. We are tied 2-2. Now pitching for back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Andrew Chaff coming on to face a righty here. And he’s been fantastic against him this year. His numbers in those matchups are very good. So here’s Ber now for the Twin. The left fielder Harrison Baker [Applause] up and in. And that’s ball one. And that’s outside. Two and0 [Applause] and that is in for a strike. Two and one now. Well, he had a pretty good look at that pitch and not sure exactly what tied him up there. Couldn’t pull the trigger and perhaps the best pitch he’ll see in this bat to hit. Byron Buckton in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. The 3-1 strike on the inside corner. Ball count. [Applause] He fouls it off. Will do it again. [Applause] It’s a lead offic. And that’s the go-ahead run. What a battle. It’s not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch. And I tell you what, he burned that wall. Back to the top of the order now. Byron Buckton, the next twin up to hit. 0 for three with two ground outs and a strikeout. That’s way outside. One and0. Maybe losing command a little bit after the walk. Next pitch, not even close. [Applause] That one is absolutely belted and it’s gone. And they grab the lead in the eighth. It’s 42. The brighter the lights, the more he shines. Yeah, this guy lives for big moments. And right there made a statement big time. Anytime you have a pitch down the middle of the plate, the percentages go up for the hitter to do damage, even if it’s a pretty good sinker like that one. Nice piece of hitting there at the plate. Willie Castro, the next twin up to hit. in there for strike one. Can be tough to bounce back after a big home run, but nobody on, nobody out. You just have to treat it as a fresh inning. [Applause] Next offering is in for a strike. The big bats coming up and a home run already surrendered. He’s really going to have to execute against these next couple of batters. on the ground of first and it goes just foul. [Music] Get on the ground to the right side. He’ll do it himself. One gone in the bottom of the eighth. The designated hitter number nine, Trevor Laur. Now it’s the DH Trevor Lick. Three pitch strikeout last time up. Got to put up more of a fight in this one. [Applause] That misses and it’s one and0. [Applause] Right through there for a strike. pitch in the dirt. Two balls in a strike. Two runs across in the inning here. The bottom half of the eighth inning and he hits a ground ball right side. Steps on first for the out. Now batting catcher Ryan Jeffers. Two outs. Space is empty. Brian Jeffers, the next twin up to hit. That one inside. And that is ball one. One and0. Swing and a highf fly ball left field. Wood drop steps, heads back on it, and the inning is over. But the Twins bring in two on the homer. Last chance coming up here for the Nationals. Welcome back. And here comes the closer your Don. These are the spots where Levers really make a name for themselves. Late and close. There’s not much margin for error, but at the same time, there’s a reason they’re put in these situations. Up now for Washington, Brady House. House. That one in triple digits. 01. [Applause] Swing and a miss. in 102 on the radar gun. And that skips in the dirt [Applause] and a slam in a man. Speed him with a fast. Well, that right there is what you want to see out of your closer. Come in and close the door. cancel any hope that that opponent has in making some type of comeback in the ball game. Tell you what, that helps him settle in and that helps everybody else relax a little bit to get these other two outs. Ly stands in now and watches strike one. [Applause] Next off in there for a strike and the count is 0 and two. got him looking for the kill. Down to the last out for the Nationals. This is definitely what a team likes to see out of their closer. Come in and just destroy all hope. First two batters, two strikeouts. See if he can strike out the side. So, it’s their last chance in this one. Ahmed Rosario digging in for the Nationals. Yeah, that’s outside. And that’s ball one. [Music] Two outs. Hit to right and that should do it. And that is the ball game. Well, this was a tightly played game. Got a little of everything. some timely hitting runs on the board, key pitching and defense in certain spots. Definitely a fun one to watch. And your final 42 for Chris Singleton and our entire crew here at MLB the show. Thanks for stopping by. I’m John Shami. Talk to you soon. Heat. Heat.
