MLB LIVE🔴 Seattle Mariners vs Los Angeles Angels – Jul 25, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
joined by my partner Chris Singleton. I’m John Shami. The first half of the All-Star break is behind us and partner, it’s go time in the second half. And if you want to be playing meaningful games at the end of September, you got to put your head down and grind for the next eight weeks. It’s the Seattle Mariners and the Los Angeles Angels. All right, we’ll be back to get this one started after this. So, almost ready to get underway. And today’s starter, Tyler Anderson. What do we need to know here? Well, he’s been a very dependable starter for his club. And what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him. And it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball. Maybe it’s the release point, maybe it’s the motion, but just some way, somehow, they’ve got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side. Next one misses and it’s a ball and a strike. The shorts stop takes a ball. 2-1. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. The next pitch misses and it’s three and two. spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. Anderson ready to work. Strike him out looking. It’s a strike out, but they’ll be in good shape if they make their outs as difficult as that one. Those grinding abs take a toll on a pitcher as the game goes on. And now it’s Julio Rodriguez. Come on, Ty. Just that’s the ball. Rodriguez batting second in today’s lineup. and he was born in the Dominican Republic. That misses the zone and that’s ball two. One out. Base is empty. This one smoked could be trouble now. He’ll turn for second and that’s a double. Well, patience and discipline paid off right there as he got into an advantage count. He got a pitch he could drive, but he didn’t get too excited like a lot of guys do and pull off the baseball. Really good timing all the way through the swing and the barrel was so on plane with the ball. Easy drive into the gap for that double. One out, runner at second. Cal Raleigh up next for the Mariners. right through there for a strike. You know, Raleigh made history in 2023. He had a game with two home runs and six RBI’s, becoming the first catcher in Mariners history to do that. And that one fouled off the 02. That’s a ball. One, two. And there’s the ball. Speaking of dingers, he’s the second fastest of 50 home runs in Seattle history. Only A-Rod needed fewer games. That’s down and in. Rodriguez, the runner at second with one away. fouled off again and it remains three and two. Got him. That’s out number two. Most guys are very aggressive when they see the stakes out there on the base pads and can’t understand why he wasn’t ready to swing the bat. You’ve got to be ready to swing the bat in a situation like that with the go-ahead run in scoring position. Now it’s Randy Rosarena first off and it just misses. One out. Runner at second. Two down. Swing and a highf fly ball out there towards left field. makes the catch and that’ll do it. Mariners leave one and now the Angels will get their first opportunity in this one. No score. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. Back in Anaheim now, the starting pitcher in this one, George Kirby. Well, he brings into this one an excellent strikeout to walk ratio on the season. And when you consider the amount of swings and misses that he gets and the fact that he’s not issuing free passes, that’s going to make him more economical in his pitch count, allow him to move into the middle and deeper part of ball games. So, we’ll see if that remains true in this one. And that one hammered way back there out of here. That’ll fire up the dugout. It’s one nothing. One pitch, one swing, one home run. Yeah, you can say that’s efficiency right there. Didn’t need much time in the box to make an impact. Well, I’m sure there’s a big grin on his face right now. Boo. He’s probably had some of those that didn’t stay fair, but off the bat, it looked like it was going to foul. Was able to keep it in there, tucked it nicely, and he gets the jog around the bases. Good for him. Now at the plate, Nolan Showell and a base hit went up there looking to be aggressive and got something he could handle. That’s a good sound coming off the bat, man. And as he connected out front, ripped it into the outfield. That’s one of those swings where you just don’t even feel the ball hit the barrel. That’s a pure stroke. Here’s Trout. And that misses and it’s one and0. Nobody out. Runner at first. Swinging a miss at a slider. Wow. No fair right there. I mean that slider didn’t move till the very last moment. Incredibly difficult to pick that up. Just kind of have to tip your cap on that pitch. That’s in there. That is strike two. And that’s downstairs and outside. Two and two. A little bit high. Full count now. Really good take especially with two strikes and ball four to a board. Well, we’ve seen this recipe cook up a big inning plenty of times. Two runners on, nobody out, and they’re the heart of their order. It’s just a great opportunity to put up a crooked number. Here’s the left fielder, Taylor Ward. That one’s in there. And that’s strike one. This might be the most pressure you put on this guy today. You got one run in, you got to try to get another one or maybe two. Yeah, this swing at a line drive into a right field. They won’t test it here. Base is loaded. No outs. Well, that’ll make you feel good as a hitter right there. Showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way. Didn’t get jumpy. Didn’t try to pull the ball. He let it get deep. Took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit. Now the base is loaded. Big opportunity for them to break this game open. Here’s Joe Adel. And that one in the air, center field, drops into the glove. Runner tags from third. He’ll score on the sack fly and they lead by two. Well, he’s always capable of losing one over the fence. He might have just missed it right there, but a good job to drive in that run from third. Yan Mona with a chance to hit. In the grand scheme of things, this at bat might not feel important because it’s early, but it could create a domino effect for things to come. Control what you can here and have a strong at bat. That catches the zone for a strike. 0 and one. One out. Runners at first and second and one. Could use a ground ball here. Something in the infield. Runner at first base. Get two. Get out of this. two-1. Could be some action here on this next pitch. Couple runners on. Probably a challenge pitch coming. Rightander kick, steals, and that one missing low. First pitch strike from the pitcher, but then no panic at all by the hitter. Very patient, showing good discipline. Now he’s in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 count. Swing and a miss. Three and two now. Knowing that the pitcher wants a ground ball double play opportunity here. You’ve got to lay off pitches down in the zone right there. Swinging at that pitch. That’s a no no. Hit hard. Shoot the extra bases. Coming home. One run is in. Brown’s third headed for the plate. He’ll score. Two runs are in. Gets the job done as he brings home a pair. I love the approach he had right there with that pitch. Not trying to do too much, but still looking to drive it. And that’s exactly what he’s able to do into the opposite field gap for the double. Logan the next to hit for the Angels. This is another guy capable of hitting tape measure home runs. Swings through that one. 0 and one. Well, it’s not the inning he was planning on to begin this start, but you’ve got to find a way to shake things off and give your team some length and put up some zeros. Chop back up the middle and they got him. Batting. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup. One guy leading the way offensively for this club right now, Zack Neto. tops on the team in batting average. Boo. A guy who’s showing off some excellent bat-to ball ability when he digs in at the plate. You know, that’s useful if your team needs to get an inning going, get a leadoff man on, but it’s also incredible to have a guy like that in the lineup because he’s a run producer who can drive in runs if you got guys on base already. So, he’s a huge piece in this lineup. Lamont Wade Jr. the next to hit takes ball one. And a foul ball. Monocata on third with two out. Swung on. Broken back grounder to third. And they’re happy to just get off the field after that frame. So four runs on four hits, no errors, and a runner left on. Second inning coming up from Anaheim. Angels four and the Mariners nothing. Second inning set to go. The batter now Jorge Palanco. Jorge Palanco. Anderson back to work. Swinging a foul. Pushed off to the right and that will get out of play. Next pitch is downstairs. Our player Freddy Ferguson. Yeah. I mean, he’s a guy that has a reputation for being fergicious. Yes. And you know, whatever. Fergalicious. BS it off. Still one and two. That’s inside. Oh, that’s in on the ground to third. Monata toss to first and Palano is out. Batting six, first baseman Luke. Next is the speedy first baseman Luke. It’s interesting. He plays kind of a a power spot defensively, but runs pretty well. So, when you’re looking at that position, you’re not expecting someone that has maybe above average speed, but he does. One and0. And a foul ball. And I think that skill set really upgrades the position because when you have that kind of speed, it makes the whole team that much better. Next pitch in for a strike. One and two. What about him playing another position on defense? One that would require a little more range. Absolutely. And I think if Push came to shove where they had to make a a move during a game, it’d surprise a lot of people. You might even be able to put him in center field. And that’s downed away. Full count now. Fly ball to right center. Adele sizing this one up. He’s got it. And there’s two away. Batting seventh. Right fielder Dominic. Two out. Space is empty. And now for Seattle, Dominic Kenzone. Come on. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Two out. Space is empty. That one catches the zone and the count even. One and one. One and one. Just missed. fouls one off to a two way high. Count is full outside and that is ball. One of the things about that two out walk, the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead. So a ball down the line or into the gap will produce a two out RBI. And those are the best. That is if you are the offensive side of it. Adele makes the catch and that is that one left for Seattle. They trail it here four nothing. We head to the bottom of the second and now it’s the switch hitting second baseman Luis Ranifo Reano and first off Ring is fouled off. Singi wasn’t very sharp in the first. Got hit around a little bit. Just wasn’t able to locate particularly well. A lot of stuff with the fat part of the plate. Yeah, Boo. He wasn’t fooling anyone. It’s a tough place to be cuz it’s not always obvious what adjustments need to be made. Sometimes it’s location. Sometimes it’s being too predictable. Sometimes you’re tipping your pitches. He’s going to need to figure it out quickly though. The one-1 is fouled off. Sway in a line drive. That’s a base hit into center field. So now back to the top of the order. Really nice job of two strike hitting in that at bat. That could be a dangerous pitch if you don’t get it inside enough because as a hitter, you see it coming across the plate the whole way. No problem handling it and putting a good swing on it that time. Needto takes a ball as he stands in for the second time. runner. Here’s the pitch. Runner goes swing and a miss. And that’s a stolen base. Not even close. Runner at second. Nobody out. And that is out of play. Fights that one away. Still one and two. I want to start that load a little bit sooner because of the good VLOO. Battling here as he fouls it away. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Fast ball is outside. Honest. It’s a strike out. He’s locked in at the plate when he’s using the whole field. He was out in front there. Just needs to let the ball travel a little more. His timing will be back on track. Good pitch for the strike out. Nolan Shanowell will hit next. One for one with a single and a run scored so far. Lifted in the air down the left side and it drops in. And now to a board. Now batting the designated hitter. And now batting Mike Trout. He walked and came around to score his first time on. He is quite an athlete. I mean, you look around the other sports, basketball, football, you feel like he could thrive in one of those sports, too. That one hammered center field. That’s bad. Gone off the racks in center. Touch him all time. His 18th home run of the season. And they add to the lead. It’s 7 nothing. He ambushed him right there, Sigy. Yeah, swinging on that first pitch and I think losing one over the fence is exactly what he had in mind as well. When a guy’s got a real hard fast ball, you can’t overswing. All you’ve got to do is get the bat head to the spot. If you do, he supplies the power and you’ll get to jog around the bases like he did right there. Manager out of the dugout now. And it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound. George Kirby won’t go any further. And this is one he’d like to forget. Back with a new arm after this. Now pitching for new pitcher for the Mariners, number 23. Well, he struggled quite a bit. So, this is another opportunity to get on the right track. He’s given up more than one hit per in any pitch so far this season. All right, let’s go. That’s right. One out, base is empty, and now it’s the Angels cleanup batter, Taylor Ward. That one finds the zone, and it’s 0 and one. Still only one out here in the inning. That misses off the outside edge. Swearing and a miss. And that one missed by a ton. Man, that was pretty gross right there. And a ground ball to first. The flip to the pitcher covering. Two out. Now batting center fielder Joe Adele. Here’s a big power threat. Joe Adele drove in a run with a sack fly his first time up. And that’s in for a strike 0 and one. Well, that’s really the money spot down and away. If you can locate that consistently, it’s going to be real tough for hitters to square that up. That’s what you love to see relievers do coming out of that bullpen. Now one missed the ball. Two gone. Base is empty. But three runs across. Bottom half of inning number two. Oh, can’t pick it up cleanly. Still finds a way to get off a throw. He beats the throw and they don’t get an out on the play. Two outs, runner at first. Here is Monata. doubled his first time up. The corner for a strike. It’s 0 and one. Two outs. Foul ball there. outside low and that’s ball one. And there’s a ball. You got to in the dirt to second, but way too late. Safe there. So, a wild pitch allows the runner to advance. You know, sometimes it takes a reliever a little time to get comfortable with the mound out there, especially when they come in trying to be nasty with every pitch they throw. Not exactly what they were looking for when they called them in, though. We’ll see if he can settle down. man at second. So now two on and two outs. Didn’t miss by much right there. Just couldn’t get the call off the inside corner. Angels catcher Logan Logan O’Happy the next to hit for the Angels 0 for one. grounded out in his first at bat. That one misses. That’s five straight. Adele over at second. Mona on first with two down and one fouled off. and that one fouled off. Two on, two outs. Foul ball still a one and two count. ripped on the ground to second. They take the force out and that’ll keep more runs from coming in. Inning over. Mike Trout doing Mike Trout things. It’s now 7 nothing. Onto the third inning. And stepping in for the Mariners, Cole Young number two. First pitch misses. One ball. No strikes. Pulls that one. Foul. Spling a miss. It’s a ball in two strikes. One ball, two strikes. And the slider just misses. Really nice slider right there. Sweeping across the dish, but just couldn’t hang the edge. And that’s downstairs. And now it’s three and two. Now a highf fly ball out to left center. Adele sizes this one up. And there’s one down. Now batting shortstop JP Crawford back to the top of the Seattle order and the batter will be the shortstop JP Crawford 0 for one after striking out looking to start the game. Fast ball for a strike and it’s 0 and one. And that drops in for a strike. Well, he didn’t like those first two pitches. Now in an 02 hole. He’s going to have to battle. Hope he gets a mistake. Switch through that one. It’s a strike out. Thought it was a pretty good pitch. Top of the strike zone. We’re seeing more fast balls in that location. Hitters, especially with two strikes, have to be ready to pull the trigger. Two down, base is empty. And up next for Seattle, Julio Rodriguez, and first offering is fouled off. And that’s in for a strike. fights that one away and the count remains 0 and2. Keeps the attack going with a foul ball. Next offering misses and the count is one and two. One, two. and they’ll do it again. He’s having a tough time getting a pitch by him. As a hitter, you feel pretty confident that you’re seeing different pitches. Still able to make some type of contact. Goes down looking. Mariners go down quietly there. They continue to trail. 7 nothing. Set for the bottom of the third. Here’s Lamont Way Jr. right fielder Lamont Wade Jr. that’s in there. That’s strike one. You know, these Angels putting together some really good at bats in this game. There’s been a lot to like with how they’re approaching their chances at the plate. They jumped all over the starter and knocked him out of the game early. He just was never able to settle in and the damage was done by the time he got the hook. Curve in the dirt. I mean, when you’re chasing the opposing starter in the first inning or two, that’s just such a tone setter for the game, and it puts the other team back on their heels, and it instills a lot of confidence in your lineup from top to bottom. The two- two on the way, drilled in the air, high and deep, right field, back there, and that one is gone. Third home run of the season. It’s 8 nothing. That’s their third home run of the game. They’re having a lot of fun at the plate in this one. They’ve got the long ball working for them on autopilot. Knew what pitch he wanted to hit. Spent on some other pitches in this at bat. Was very patient and it paid off. Luis Reano the next to hit for the Angels. That’s too low. And that is ball one. One lined. And that’s a base hit. And that turns the lineup over. Now batting and here is Zack Neto. He’s already homered here in this one. Check swing. He went too far and it’s a strike. Zero balls. One strike. The short stop takes the ball. The real threats are coming up. Already giving up a home run in this inning. He’s going to really have to bear down. And now two balls in a strike. He’s getting a little frustrated out there on the mound getting hit around a little bit. Let’s see if he can settle himself down. Swing and a miss. Two and two now. Two balls, two strikes. And downstairs And ball four to a board. Now batting first baseman, Nolan Shadow. Nolan Shadawell now at the plate. He’s two for two. Inside. That’s ball one. ball. Two balls, no strikes. First and second here, no outs. the 2-1. Ah, ground ball and that’s through the infield. Headed to the plate now. A long throw home. It’s off the mark and he scores and they now lead by nine. Puts a run on the board and picks up an RBI. Just a simple ground ball the other way that had eyes on it, man. Sometimes that’s all you need to do. Just let the ball travel. Put the ball in play and just hope it finds a hole. Now Trout gets a chance to hit. That one misses. Ball one. Trout is one of the best players of his generation. He’s a fan favorite because he brings a rare combination of speed, power, and allaround talent to the team. He’s exactly the type of player you want to build around. Next pitch misses way outside. Well, usually a high level of confidence when you’re facing a young pitcher out there on the mound in this situation ahead 200. He’s put himself in a really good spot. And another ball after giving up that home run earlier. Just doesn’t seem like he wants to challenge him. Next offering is fouled back and that’ll load the bases. You get a walk and you get a walk. Everyone gets a walk. Base is loaded. Nobody out. Taylor Ward the next to hit for the Angels. singled and scored back in the first. He’s one for two. Double play ball to second to Crawford for one. They get the out, but the run scores and the twin killer. It’s always great when you can add a run, but in this situation with the bases loaded, double play is kind of a rally killer. So up next, Joe Adell outfield playing very deep, not wanting anything over their heads. Swing get a ball popped up. He makes the grab and the inning is over. Three runs on three hits, one a solo shot. On to inning number four. It’s the Angels 10 and the Mariners nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. And now the big time power threat, Cal Raleigh. Come on, Angels. Here we go. Ripped but a curls foul. got the back going too soon. It’s strike two. Oh, and two. Fights it off. You’ll see another up and in at the count. One and two. That one missed. Two and two. That’s a ball. Full count. Worm burner into the outfield for a knock. So, a runner aboard to start the inning. And now it’s the cleanup hitter for the Mariners. Randy Roserena flyed to left his first time. And there’s the strike. He’s been known to jump all over the first pitch. So, that seems like a missed opportunity right there. Raleigh gets his lead at first. Nobody out. for Rosarena in his fifth season, 30 years old now. And they went out and made a trade for him last season. One ball, one strike. Headed down the line and that’s a foul ball. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Fouls it off. Still one and two. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Good battle here. About to be the eighth pitch of the at bat. And that one missing low. Swings and misses. It’s a strike out and the runner stays where he is. Now batting designated hitter Jorge Palano. And now is the Mariners DH. Jorge Palano grounded out his first time. And that is in for a strike 0 and one. That fast ball, even though it’s up, that’s the velocity you want to go after. Low 90s a lot better than trying to hit the high 90s. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. Man at first, one away. Gets a piece and stays alive. Strike three and that’s two in a row. Oh, interesting. He’s looking very comfortable out of the stretch after giving up the lead off single. Back to back strikeouts. So, they haven’t been able to move that runner up, get him into scoring position and try to have a better chance of scoring. I tell you, good job so far on the mound. He just needs one more out. stands in now and watches strike one. The M’s with a lot of ground to make up. Top half of inning number four. Next pitch is outside. Inside. Just missed. Next offering is in for a strike. That to right. Wait on his way over. He’s got it. And that is that. Mariners leave one. Not looking good. They’re down 10 nothing. Bottom of the fourth. So in now for the Angels. Yawan Mona. Yan Mona. Called strike. A sinker at the bottom of the zone. 01 in the air to left down the line. The Rosarena after it and he makes the catch. One away. Now batting catcher. Now the catcher up to hit. Logan O’H for two in this one. And that one upstairs. Ball one. Base is empty. One away. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. And that’s in the two and 0. just missed. Rio and he walked him. Definitely lost the handle during that sequence. Four pitches for the walk and that last one didn’t even threaten the zone. Catcher might want to go talk to him. One down. So, here’s Wade now. He’s already homerred in this game. That one’s in there. Strike one. Let’s go. Come on, Anaheim. That’s ripped. Base hit. Lead runner holds at second base. First and second with one down. Well, I’m not saying that play was easy, but it was harder than it needed to be thanks to the bad jump. Those small moments can be costly. Luis Renifo gets a chance to hit here. There’s the strike. Ground ball to the right side and that’s just fouled. Outside corner got him looking. Well, definitely a borderline pitch right there and he didn’t look too convinced as he headed back to the dugout. stop. You know, those are tough ones to let go as a hitter, but with a human umpire calling balls and strikes, it’s always going to be on you to protect yourself with two strikes. Back to the top of the Angels lineup now. Here is Zack Neto. And that one sliced foul. ripped into right field. Base hit coming home. The throw in and he’s out. Cut down and that ends the inning. Well, it’s pretty difficult to throw a base runner out at the plate with two outs on a base hit to the outfield, but an excellent job of coming up with it, getting rid of it quickly, and throwing on the money. That is great technique from start to finish. Nice job to end the inning. Ready now for the fifth inning. And now for Seattle, Dominic Canzone. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. Well, these Mariners just aren’t putting great swings on the baseball in this one. Just one extra base hit for him. So, they haven’t exactly been hitting the ball gap to gap or out of the park. That makes it really difficult to generate runs. And there’s a foul ball. and one and two. Activity in the bullpen. A right-hander appears to be getting loose. Got him looking. Make it seven strikeouts for him. Here’s the third baseman, Ben Williams. 0 for one with a fly out to center. First pitch swinging and it’s a knock. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Wastes no time there. Solid swing from start to end. On time with everything. Really good balance. Nice extension and he met it out front for the line drive knock. Cole Young the next to hit. Just missed. Ground ball left side. Could be two to second. That’s one over to first but he beats it. Now batting shortstop JP Crawford. So the batting order turns over. JP Crawford gets a chance to hit who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts. And first offering is fouled off. Swinging a foul straight back. 0 and two now. The short stop takes the ball. Well, he missed badly with that O2 fast ball. Hitter has to understand probably wants to try to put him away with that pitch. So, got to stay ready for it. A change up missing and the count is even. Two and two. Fouled off the plate. They’ll do it again. And it remains two and two. Now he’s desperately looking for that swing and miss. He’s going to have to just change speeds a little bit. Try to move it around. Create just a little bit of illusion at the end. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. And he’s up to eight strikeouts in this one. Still nothing on the scoreboard for him after five. It’s the Angels 10 and the Mariners nothing. Now pitching for back now to start the bottom of the fifth. taking over on the mound. Ryan Woo on for his 20th appearance of the year. Now the number two hitter, Nolan Shadow, three for three with three singles. Shadow and delivers outside. No, these Angels doing a good job of putting the ball into play and that makes things more challenging on the defensive side. Only two strikeouts so far and obviously they’ve been able to pick up plenty of hits. So, it’s been an impressive one. And you know that strikeout total, only two so far really tells you they’re not just running into good luck and getting hits to fall. They’re earning those knocks. Next pitch is outside. That one missing inside right through there for his strike. Well, it looks like he’s wanting to work the upper part of the strike zone. What does that mean? Top hand better be working for the hitters. Adjust that side a little bit. Give yourself a chance to hit. Hit hard to the ground and up the middle. Base hit. Man aboard on the leadoff single. All right, let’s go. Up next for the Angels. Here’s Mike Trout. Mike Trout just one ball, no strikes. That misses the zone. Two balls, no strikes. He’s clearly trying to work him away here. Both pitches off the plate. If you really want to put the ball in play, you’re going to have to stay back and drive it to the opposite field. A little out front there as he swings through it. Man, he really sells the change up with that arm action. Swings and misses. Struck him out. Well, that’s the money maker right there. Two strikes, slider down and away from a same side thrower as the hitter. I mean, that’s just tough. You’re looking to protect with two strikes and very difficult to lay off. Here’s a swing and a drive left field and he knew it. his 24th home run of the season. It’s 12 nothing. That’s their fourth home run of the game. They can’t stop and they won’t stop hitting home runs in this one. Boo. They’re clearly feeding off of each other at the dish. Love to see a hitter aggressive on the first pitch of an at bat. You watch him from the on deck circle. So when you step in the box, you’re ready to pull the trigger wherever it’s at. Really good job by the hitter. Total conviction on that swing. So one out, nobody on. Joe Adell the next to hit for the Angels. And that one is in for a strike. Next offering is fouled back. That misses one and two to count. And that one is inside. Still two and two after the foul ball. One down. Base is empty. And that misses off the outside edge. Count is full outside and that is ball four. Oh, looking for a swinging miss right there or for the ump to help him out and make a call with that last pitch, but neither happened. Close pitch, but a good take to earn that wall. One gone runner at first. Here is Yoan Monata missed with a change up. Ball one. Woo with a move to first and he’s back safely. Adele leads off first with one away. Just missed. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. With that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. That one pushed foul out of play off to the left. Fast for a strike. And down on strikes he goes. Two away. Now batting. Here’s the power hitting catcher Logan Oh. Oh. Yeah, that’s fouled off. The Halo’s up big in this one. Last half of inning number five. Next offering in there for a strike and it’s 0 and two. Got it. That K is his third of the game. Two-run shot for the Angels this inning. We’re through five. back after this on the show. We’re back and they make a change to start the sixth. The new pitcher number 39 and he’s had a really hard time throwing strikes so far this season. His walk rate is up there among the worst in the league for relievers. Now it’s going to be Julio Rodriguez. One for two Rodriguez. And that gets the inside corner for a strike. Activity in the bullpen for the Angels. Sam Bachmann appears to be getting ready and I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves. This would be his major league debut. Eer also getting ready. Come on. This one in the air. Needto makes the catch and there’s one gone. That was a good pitch to hit right down the heart of the plate. Had pretty good timing on it. Just got underneath it a little bit and popped it up. Now the Mariners catcher, Cal Raleigh. He is at the top of the game in terms of defense at the catching spot. Swang in a line drive ripped right center field. That’s a hit. So, a man aboard now with one away. Well, that started and ended pretty quickly. No messing around right there. Off the bat, it was headed for the gap all the way. And as a hitter, you love seeing those as you take your first couple of steps out of the box. You know you got some real estate to run on. And such a good feeling. Nice liner into the gap right there. And the batter now, Randy Rosarena. The Mariners with a lot of ground to make up. And we’re the top half of the sixth. Way upstairs. One and one. It’s so impressive because these guys have to do so much study and preparation for their pitchers, for opposing hitters, and really their number one job is to guide that staff through a ball game. And so when you also can turn it up offensively and be a force there, that is a win-win. Every manager’s dream. Got him swinging. You chase the change up. Two gone. Now batting. Next is the designated hitter, Jorge Palano. Let’s go. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Oh, and one. Yeah, that’s too high. No, he’s really working him away this at bat. sometimes take a little bit off velocity. Try to get a roll over something on the ground. Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield. Two outs. Swinging a foul out of play. That one outside. And it’s to a two. fouls that off to the left and will do it again. Foul ball left side. He’ll see another. Hey, you got this. stays alive. Here’s a 2-2. Cut on and miss. Struck him out. He battled for a long time, but it finishes with a strike out. You can’t be mad at yourself after an at bat like that one. And we’re back. John Shambi with Chris Singleton in the booth. And leading off the bottom of the sixth, Lamont Wade Jr. Let’s go one more time, baby. Woo! Back to work. That one catches the corner for a strike. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. A right-hander is up and throwing. Next offering is in for a strike. He doesn’t seem to like to pitch up. Hasn’t offered on either one of those pitches. 02 count now. I think the guy’s going to climb the ladder out there. And the 02 That’s a ball. One ball, two strikes. Yeah, that’s a little bit high. And that’s awfully close. I don’t know how you take that. He’s seeing the ball out of the pitcher’s hand really well right now. Lifted in the air out to left. Rosarena moving under it. makes the catch for the out. Now batting Luis Ringo the next to hit for the Angels. Went down looking on three pitches last time. Let’s see if he can be a little more aggressive right here. Out to short. Crawford throw to first in time. Now batting the shortstop, Zack Zack Nitto digs in. Now that’s down and in. Two down, nobody on here in the bottom of the sixth. Instead of letting the hitter get his arms extended, tied him up a little bit. Slightly up, slightly in. Pitch is in there and the count one and two. He’s been able to go inside as well as outside effectively working both sides of the plate in this at bat. That’s a base hit and that keeps the inning going and his hot hitting continues. They kept him in the yard that time, but all he’s doing now is passing the baton and everything seems to get started around this guy. Man at first and here’s the first baseman, Nolan Shanuel. And that one upstairs ball one. That one in 95 missed up top and a count is 2 and0. Moved to first and he’s back in easily. And another ball. Needto off of first with two away. Check swing and he went three and one. Three balls, one strike. He swings and fouls one off. 3-2, two out, runner on first. Lot of movement in the infield. Hitters got to stay focused on the pitch. So now two on and two outs. Now batting the Mike Trout getting ready to hit. Great speed and great power. a great athlete. Quite simply, when you have a real athletic player and who’s able to do the baseball mechanical things really well, look out because the sky’s is the limit on that potential. Misses just off the outside edge. I think that was a strike. And that’s way high. Ball two. He really committed to that fast ball up at the top of the zone. and he knows that if he makes a mistake in the zone, it gets hit hard by a power guy like this. That’s a nice miss right there. First and second, two down. Yeah, let’s win. Next offering is fouled back. Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. Just misses with that one. Two outs. Couple of base runners at first and second. Swinging a foul ball at the plate. They’ll do it again. fouled off and they’ll do it again and they’re all loaded up. That’s a nice at bat and a great take on 32. Probably could have gone either way in that spot around the knees. Two outs, bases full and next for LA, Taylor Ward. Hey, stay hot. Tap foul at the plate. All loaded up. Dangerous hitter at the plate. And now the count is even. Two walks in the inning already and he just doesn’t seem comfortable out there. like he can find the right mechanics and then repeat them. That one finds the zone and that is strike two. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Angels threaten but leave him loaded but they lead it by a count of 12 to nothing. Well, this game isn’t very close, Singy. Let’s see if we got any messages from those tuning in today. I know we got some good stuff in there. All right, Singi, let’s rewind for a second. When you heard that they were going to put a pitch clock into the game, what was your first thought? Well, I thought that these guys were going to have a very difficult time to be able to regroup after each pitch and be ready to execute some type of plan at the plate and even for pitchers on the mound. That misses the zone and the count is one and one. One of the things though that we’ve seen that is kind of a thread really in every sport, these are the elite players and so they adjust and they’ve done a great job adjusting. Absolutely. And just you tip your cat to these guys because not an easy adjustment, but they look like they’ve been doing it their entire lives. Dominic, now it’s the right fielder, Dominic Canzone. A strike out and a walk. Let’s go. In for a strike 0 and one. Base is empty. One away here in the top half of inning number seven. And that’s through there for a strike. And the count is 0 and2. Quickly down 02 in the count. I think you got to choke up a little bit. Spread out the feet. You don’t know what the velocity or the location of this next pitch is going to be. One down, base is empty. Very high with that one. And it’s one and two. just off the inside edge. Full count. hammered on a line to the left base hit. So he battled through a long at bat and earned himself a hit. Now batting number nine and stepping in for the Mariners, Ben Williamson. Come on, let’s get the ground ball. Puts it in the air out towards left center. Ward pulls it down and there’s two gone. Now batting number two. And now Cole Young. that is upstairs for ball one. Right side. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. One left for Seattle. hasn’t been their day. It’s 12 nothing. Now pitching for we’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh, Matt Brash. And he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year. The numbers stack up with some of the best in the game. Here’s the center fielder, Joe Adell. That’s a little bit low. Rash, a righty that throws with power. 26 years old and he was born in Canada. Not even close there. And it’s 2 and 0. And that one is in for a strike. Good pitch. really good cutter that he’s able to front door and back door. That pitch is devastating. There’s the strike. Two and two. Yeah, got him looking and he didn’t like the call. Didn’t agree with the call at the plate right there. In a game like this, it’s just too close to take. It’s a blowout game. Guys have been out here for a while. Umpire saying, “Hey, let’s go. Cut it loose with the bat. Here comes Yan Monata. Ball one and no strikes. 10. All right, Los Angeles. And another ball. Two and 0. That one missed. Now three and 0. And there’s the automatic. Backto-back fast balls in. That last one called for a strike. Probably go away, but look for him to come back in there to try to finish you off. fought off foul. The Angels up big in this one here. The bottom of the seventh to the right side into the outfield base hit. Now batting catcher Logan. Logan Ohappy the next to hit for the Angels. 0 for three in this one. Check swing called strike. And he’ll one swing and a miss as he chases that one darting out of the zone. No balls, two strikes. Let’s go. Popped up Young. They got it for out number two. Now batting right fielder. Lamont, the man they call late night Lamont steps in. Come on. And that one gets past the catcher. And now a man into scoring position. Swang and a highf fly ball pulled foul and that’s out of play. Two outs and one in scoring position. Next offering upstairs on the ground of first. A sliding stop throw to first. Nicely done for the owl. Back here at Angel Stadium. Now it’s the shortstop JP Crawford. And first offering is fouled off. Swang and a miss. There’s the change up. Had a tough day at the plate. Three strikeouts already. It’s hard not to think negative, but you got to find a way to somehow center up the baseball and put it in play. Bloop behind second. Oh, he gloves it. Now batting the center fielder, Julio Rodriguez. And up next for Seattle, Julio Rodriguez, one for three. First pitch just misses. 10 just missed. Lope out towards right center field. Adele sizing this one up. Makes the grab. Two down. Up next for Seattle, catcher. And now for Seattle, Cal Raleigh. He’s one of the best players in the game. Oh, he’s been having a great year this year and hitting home runs at a good clip and the matchup is very favorable. That one finds the zone. That’s strike one. Well, as good as things can be, it can be a tough day at the office. Even for the skippers seeing the offense just sputter, not able to get anything going. Andy one foul ball. Fly ball pretty well struck right field. Wade ranging back leaping and it’s gone. He got just enough of that one. His 39th home run of the season. It’s 12-1. Boo. I wasn’t sure he hit that one as hard as he needed to to get it out of here, but it had just enough behind it for the homer. What an attempt at the wall, though. He really gave a terrific effort to try and bring that one back. Randy Rosena up next for the Mariners. 0 for three with two strikeouts and a fly out. Two down to that’s in there and the count is 0 and two. swings and misses and he’s registered three Ks in this one. The Mariners pick up a run thanks to this solo homer. Last half of the eighth coming up, it’s Major League Baseball on the show. Back in Anaheim, bottom of the eighth, stepping in, Luis Rano, Luis Reano. That one in triple digits outside ball. Next offering in there for a strike at the count. One and two. Yeah, there’s a ball. Next offering upstairs. Now one out to right. And that lands in no man’s land. A foul ball. Gets under it and pops it up. Young corrals it and there’s one away. Now batting shortstop Zack Netto. So digging in Zack Neto. No matter what you’re playing this kind of rival to take your game to another level. And the first pitch misses for ball one. and downstairs. Next offering is down low. And there’s a strike. Good heater at 98. Clearly taking all the way there in that three-0 count. It was a cookie right down the middle. And now it’s filled up. Full count. Strike three. Frozen with the front door slider. So he gets the call and picks up the strike out looking. Sometimes with a good hitter at the plate, he’ll be the one to get the benefit of the doubt if he lays off on a close pitch like that, but just not right there. Strike zone definitely expand a little bit with two strikes. Two outs, base is empty. Nolan Showell, the next to hit for the Angels. And that’s downstairs and outside. Hammered down the line. could be extra bases around first and hustling for second. The throw in. It’s a double and his fifth hit of the game. Another hit. I mean, these types of performances at the plate don’t come around too often. This is pretty special. Really good swing right there. You got a pitch that he knew he could handle. Allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws. man in scoring position with two away. And now here is Mike Trout. That misses the zone. And that’s ball one. That one is upstairs. Two and0. That’s a bullet, but it goes foul. Swing and a miss. And the count’s even at two. Shadow at second with two down. misses. Ball three. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Inning over. Angels strand one. But don’t shed a tear. They’re up 12-1. And welcome back to the ballpark. And now Jorge Palano. Fast for a strike. Action in the Angels bullpen. Sam Bachmann the young right-hander up and throwing. Brogden warming up as well. And that drops in for a strike quickly in an 02 hole. You’re going to have to give something up here in terms of power if you want to put the ball in play with any authority. Foul ball still 0 and two. That one just misses. Got him swinging up with it. Fires to first. gets him one away on a drop third strike for Seattle. First base, Luke up next for the Mariners. 0 for three with three flyyous. Popped up. Monata has a beat on it. Puts it away for the Now that right fielder Dominic Kenzone. So last chance for the Mariners. Dominic Kzone will hit next. Right down to shoot. And that is strike one. Two down, nobody on. You’re in the top of the ninth. Late swing, fouled to the left. The M’s down to their final strike. That one inside now. One and two. Got him. And that’s the ball game. The ball for his first career save deserves to be on display at his house. I mean, it’s kind of like when a restaurant frames its first dollar bill somewhere on a wall. You just can’t forget your first save. 12-1 is the final. For Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB The Show, I’m John Shami. We’ll see you soon. Heat. Heat.
