MLB LIVE🔴 Cleveland Guardians vs Kansas City Royals – Jul 25, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
just about set to go. And our pitcher in this game, Chris Bubich, well, what quickly stands out to me for this guy is that he comes in with a 3 to1 strikeout to walk ratio on the season. So when you consider consistency, the ability to get swings and misses and to limit base runners, that’s critical in winning games today, especially when teams are depending on the big swing, the home run to win ball games. Okay, all set to go. Stepping up for the Guardians. Anel Martinez check swing and he went and that’s strike one. Well, second pitch of this game and already getting squeezed a little bit. Pitch misses outside and it’s two and one. Back door breaking ball just missed right there. And boy, umpire didn’t give him the call. I bet you if he throws it again, hitter knows he’s going to have to swing it. D and he can’t hang on. Man aboard on the leadoff single. Second, the designated hitter. David Fry the next to hit. And that one hammered. That’s back there. Splash landing. gets into the fountains for a huge home run. What a blast. That’s an impressive swing of the bat to go over the wall to the opposite field gap. And you know, there are a lot of guys that just don’t have the pop to do that. and probably just as many who don’t have the approach either. He let that ball travel and he got great extension on the follow through to drive it out of here. Now it’s Jose Ramirez. Another solid power season and that one just misses a ball and no strike. Can be tough to bounce back after a big home run, but nobody on, nobody out. You just have to treat it as a fresh inning. swinging a foul. Pushed off to the right. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. This one in the air. India should have this one. Puts it away for the out. And there’s one away. Here’s the Guardians lineup now. A really frustrating showing for them in their last game. Lots of traffic on the bases, but they left a ton of runners on base. Couldn’t cash in their chances, Chris. They had plenty of chances. There’s nobody to blame it on but themselves offensively. They just did a poor job converting in those situations. You have to figure out what’s your plan going to be. Maybe watch some tape from the last game. Make the adjustments. So, if you get those opportunities in this one, you got a much better chance of scoring some runs. Carlos Santana in the box now. No balls in a strike. Not even close there. And it’s one and one. Still only one out here in the inning. And that one upstairs. Two-1. That one fouled off. Two and two. Foul ball left side. He’ll see another one out. Base is empty. Keeps the atbat going with a foul ball. Here’s a 2-2. That one just misses. Inside and that’s ball four. It wasn’t easy, but he earned that walk after a long at bat. Breaking ball in that 32 count kind of tells you that that’s the pitch he has the most confidence in right now. just couldn’t find the strike zone. Now here’s Nolan Jones. That one catches the zone and it’s 0 and one. Santana, the base runner at first with one out. Strike two. Yeah, I don’t think anyone’s got good numbers bringing in pitches in that location. Foul ball still 0 and two man at first one away. A little bit high down one and two. Really good take especially with two strikes. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Well, they’re really running up the pitch count in this first inning. Lots of confidence from this team. team that is perhaps the hottest in baseball right now. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. Eighth pitch of the at coming up to first. Maybe a two ball. Acrobatic throw for one. Back to the pitcher covering. It’s a double play. Nicely done. And that’ll do it. Cleveland with a pair on this blast. It’s now a two nothing ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show. Back here in Kansas City. And on the mound for Cleveland in this one, Gavin Williams. What should we keep an eye on here? Well, you can see his whip is a little above the league average. Not bad, but I think in this one he’s going to need to control that a little bit better. Try to limit hitters from getting on base. Stay in that wind up instead of the stretch. And when he does allow base runners, be able to throw a pitch, he’s going to get a swing and miss, get out of the inning so that a base hit doesn’t do more damage and put his team behind the eightball. Jonathan India, the leadoff batter, as he looks at ball one. Fall off. Foul. Swinging a foul. Out of play. Foul ball still a one and two count. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Misses two and two. And there’s a ball. swings through and it for the K. Slider got him for strike three. Wow, just great bite to that slider. Broke hard out of the zone and he just couldn’t hold up the swing. You know, as a hitter, that pitch is really hard to take and there’s just not much you can do with it. You know that, but you don’t want to get rung up by the umpire. That one missing inside. And another ball just a few pitches in, but not very sharp on the mound in the home half of the first. Poo, when you can score some runs for your pitcher in that first inning, you really want him to come out and shut that other team down so you guys can get back in the dugout and swing the bats. You’ve obviously got some hot sticks in the early part of this one. Now, this is a story we were paying attention to before the game. We’ve seen him give up walks in the past and it’s an issue once again early on. And now Vinnie Pasquantino, first pitch not close. Six straight outside the strike zone. Chris with that distraction and a speedy guy at first. He’s in a favorable hitter count. Runner on the go. Strike in there. No. See edges too late. Chris, his wheels were the difference maker on that play. Just got in there. Yeah, with Statcast’s help, we see his top speed on this stolen base. And that’s a big number. I mean, man, he really made his athleticism work for him on that one. And a two-1 on the way. Swinging a foul straight back. Still two and two after the foul ball. Runner at second here. One gone. Pickoff throw and he’s back safely. Let’s go. Full count in the dirt. One out and a runner at second. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. on the ground to third. Sends it to first. He didn’t make things easy for him there, but they still get the out. Batting fourth, the third base. Let’s take a look at our lineup. This an offense, Chris, that’s having a hard time scoring runs right now. Yeah, sometimes things just aren’t going to click and unfortunately what happens is players press, they try to do a little bit more and they get out of their game. You got to let the game come to you. If you chase it, it’s going to run from you. So, this is a team that just needs to calm down, relax, and understand that they’re going to come out of this. Mike El Garcia, the next to hit, takes ball one. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. Pitch is in there and the count is one and one. One way to make a guy real uncomfortable at the plate is pound him inside with good velocity. They’re doing that right here. Let’s do it. and a swing to miss. Man, that was pretty gross right there. That’s down and in. Breaking ball misses down and away. Salvador Perez in the OD circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. So now two on and two outs. Two walks in the first has to be some cause for concern. You’re talking about a guy who wants to pitch deep into the ball game. It’s not going to help with the pitch count right there. They can’t afford to hand out free bases at this rate. And now it’s Salvador Perez to the plate. First pitch misses. For whatever reasons, this is a hitter that performs better in night games. We’ll see what he brings in this one. Salvador. Two on, two outs. Big swing and a miss. One. There’s a strike. Pitch misses and it’s two and two. Tough start for him so far. Already at 30 pitches here in the first. And down on strikes he goes. And that’s the inning. Two left on. Second inning coming up here in Kansas City. It’s the Guardians two and the Royals nothing. New inning getting started. Here’s the rookie right fielder, Jonathan Rodriguez. Jonathan Rodriguez. Bubich back to work and it’s fouled away. Kansas City. just missed Freddy Ferguson doing the umpiring duties behind the plate in this one. Yeah, Freddy is a wellrespected umpire Boo. Maybe a little bit more of a pitcher umpire. He does like to pitch down just below the knees or right about there, but most hitters are pretty good at covering that spot these days. Swing and a miss. Yeah, I mean he’s a guy that has a reputation for being fergicious. Yes. and you know whatever. He’s mixing his pitches really well late on that fast ball after seeing the change up. See if he can elevate one. I think if he does he’ll get the swing and miss outside low. The countdown two and two. Two balls, two strikes in the air left field. Frasier has this one sized up and makes the grab. And there’s one away. Just pulled off of it a little bit right there. That front shoulder coming open instead of staying closed. If he does that, he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left. Give it to him. Royals Will Wilson batting with one down. Takes a strike. Fast for a strike. That’s good pitch there. Had some run and finished little up and in just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you Oh, that got him. He had two strikes on him and he hit him. the catcher. Austin Austin Hedges now good defender. He’s been inconsistent offensively. And that one fouled off. That’s down and in. A slider missed. Definitely a swing and miss slider down and in. He finished that really well. Just couldn’t get him to offer at it. Fast ball for a strike at 95. One ball, two strike. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. Wilson stands at first with one out. Two and two in the dirt kick. Sand deals swings through it and that’s a strike out. Well, I’ll tell you when he goes to look at the video of that pitch, he’s going to want to punch himself. That slider had hit me written all over it and clearly he just got a little too excited and was out in front. Tell you what, when you get a pitch like that, you cannot miss it. Those have a chance to go a long way. Here’s Brian Roio and that one upstairs. Ball one. Two outs. Check swing and he went and it’s one and one. One and one. Snap throw to first. Wilson dives back in safely. And that’s way high. Two and one. Two balls, one strike. It’s strike two. Betty really sells the change up with that arm action. Spoils a two strike pitch. And he’ll see another next offering upstairs. Great RBI spot here. Just got to stay focused on the pitch. The runner will be in motion. So something in the gap should definitely score it. Swinging a foul ball at the plate. They’ll do it again. And ball four to a board take your base. Pretty good pitch on 3-2. Right around the knees, but just no help from the umpire. Center fielder number one, Anel. Anel Martinez digs in for the Guardians. He’s one for one. Led off the game with a single. Hot shot to first base and he snags it to end the inning. Guardians strand a couple but they hold the two nothing lead. bottom half of inn number two and the batter now Jack Kaggleó clips the corner that’s strike on breaking ball misses down and away. And now two and one and a swing and a miss there. He can live up in the zone all game if hitters will chase it. That’s just too much velocity. Hitters got to look down in the zone. Comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt and it beats him for the first out after the drop. Third strike. I got to think that was the plan all the way. He set him up with a high fast ball and then carry that curve ball down low to get him swinging. Now, especially with how effective pitchers work up in the zone these days, that’s a devastating combination. Adam Frasier at the plate and takes high there. One down, base is empty. He swings and fouls one off. Just off the inside edge. Blind into right. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. And there’s two away. Batting it. The catcher. Freddy. Two out. Space is empty. And here’s the catcher, Freddy Fine. That one’s in there. That’s strike one. Look out. That got him and it hit him. Batting nut the center. And now it’s Kyle Isel. You talk about elite defensive players, especially in the middle of the diamond. And this guy is at the top of the list. and you played behind guys and they love having your speed out there defensively. One of the things that we talk about is how much pitchers enjoy having those elite defenders behind him and that is downstairs one and0. The one thing about that is speed never goes in a slump and defense shouldn’t either. Hittingwise, you can struggle. You can lose your mechanics. But the thing that you can do consistently every single game is play great defense if you’re talented in that way. And this is what this guy does. Oh, in the dirt. Blocked. Next pitch misses way outside. for me off of first with two away. Next offering finds the zone of the count is full. Count. Swung on. Broken back grounder to third. On the run. Throw to first. Pretty nice play there. So, one left for Kansas City. They trail it here. Two nothing. And we’re back. And now the DH, David Fry. David Fry starting as the designated hitter, batting second in today’s lineup. And he was drafted in the seventh round. back in 2018. Swang and a miss. There’s that change up. Foul ball there. Though Chris through the early stages, he hasn’t been very efficient in terms of the pitch count. He’s going to need to get some quick outs if he’s going to get deeper into this game. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. And now one away. He came out of his mechanics there. typically likes to shoot the ball the other way, but that time little anxious. Here’s Jose Ramirez. He popped out his first time. Edge of the zone for a strike. It’s 0 and one. It is interesting though when you consider the way the game is run now. Doesn’t even matter that much if your starter doesn’t go that deep because teams are really aggressively building their bulls. That one pushed foul. This guy’s seen two change ups in a row. Could be a little vulnerable for a fast ball right here. Cut on and lifted in the air. He’s got it. And there’s two away. Now batting the first baseman, Carlos. Two down, base is empty. Carlos Santana digs in for the Guardians. Walked his first time. High in the air out to right. It falls in and that’s a knock. And that keeps the inning alive. Nolan Jones now at the plate. He’s 0 for one. Tries to check his swing. Now look to third. Yes, he did. That’s a swing according to Eric Summerskill. And that’s way high and one and one. Finish him. Two outs. Liner base hit. They stopped the lead runner at second. Now two on with two outs. Number 30, Jonathan Rodriguez. Jonathan Rodriguez will hit next. And a foul ball. First and second, two down. We’re here in the top half of inning number three. Next pitch misses. Going to count one and two. Ground ball right side and that’s just fouled. Ah ground ball and that’s through the infield coming home. The throw in. It’s off the mark and he scores and they’re up by three. Stringing them together. That’s three hits in a row. Pretty good spot. hard and inside, but that’s a perfect example of keeping your hands inside the ball tight to the body. The ability to take that back up the middle shows his approach is to use the entire field. Wilson in the box here. Lets that one go for a ball. Well, he’s just given up three straight hits and now behind in this count to this hitter. Might be a good time for somebody to call a timeout. Maybe the pitching coach to go out there and talk to him just a little bit. And a strike on the outside edge. First signs of bullpen movement here in the early going. Anel Serpa the southpaw is throwing and getting that sinker dialed in. The 1-1 tap foul at the plate. First and second, two down up the middle. Offbalance throw in time that ends the inning and stops things from getting out of hand. But they pick up one run on the RBI single. It’s now 3 nothing. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show back here at Kaufman Stadium. Except for the bottom of the third and to the plate for Kansas City. Jonathan India. India. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. One. One. He swings and drives one out to deep left field and that should be extra bases around first heading for two and he starts the bottom of the third with a double. Well, this one started with a bad jump, a bad read off of the bat. He ends up having to try to leap out of desperation. Can’t come down with it and it turned into extra bases. Now here’s Bobby Wit Jr. Walked and stole a base his first time. Swing and a popup. Foul territory for the catcher. Hedges right there to make the grab. One away. The designated hitter number nine, Vinnie. Vinnie Pasquentino getting ready to hit. First time up, he grounded to third. He’s been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position. Some guys just take it to another level. For him right now at the plate, it’s like everyone else is in slow motion and he’s in full speed. Swing and a miss as he was late that time. Laser could be trouble. Gliding around third is India. He’ll score. He was all over that one. Really good swing right there. He got a pitch that he knew he could handle. Allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws. One out, runner at second. Now it’ll be the cleanup hitter for the Royals. Mel Garcia worked a walk in his first trip to the plate and takes low from ball one. One out and a runner at second here in the last half of the third. Ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. Pass Quentino rounds third headed for the plate. Throw is offline and he scores and it’s a one-run game. Picks himself up an RBI. So impressive that he didn’t get tied up or jammed on that pitch inside. Instead, good quick hands allowed him to get the barrel to it. Just shoot it up the middle of the field for that knock. Salvi steps into the box now. He’s 0 for one. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Drilled out towards left center field. That’s well struck. And it looks like trouble heading for the plate. He’ll score and the Royals tie the game. That’s now three hits in a row for the offense. Put a pretty good jolt into that one. Great swing, nice balance and weight transfer and he got it to drop in out there in the deep part of the field. So up next, Jack Kaggle Leone 0 for one so far. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. That one down the line and foul ball. swings through that one. It’s a strike out. Here’s Adam Frasier. Now batting left field. Adam Fraser and that’s off the outside edge and that’s ball one. Perez stands at second with two gone. Justice that 2-1 chopped to third. Fires over to first. Frasier retired. They limit the damage here. So they get three and draw even. On to inning number four. All tied up at three a piece. Out of the fourth. So in now for Cleveland. Austin Hedges. That’s in for a strike. Yeah, that’s fouled off. Next pitch just misses at a count one and two. in the air out towards left center. Frasier balls it in and there’s one away. Now batting the shortstop Brian. So digging in Brian Rokio. He reached out to walk his first time. And a breaking ball drops in for a strike. Pretty rare location right there. Right down the middle. This guy paints the edges. I’m not sure if you’re going to see that pitch again as a hitter. Next offering is fouled back. stays alive. Got him. That’s his third of the game. And up next for Cleveland, Anel Martinez singled and scored back in the first. He’s one for two. And that misses ball one. Royals. A swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. Two out. Space is empty. The 1-1 is fouled off. Finish him. That one off the bad part of the bat. Just a lazy fly ball and that’ll fall for a base hit and that extends the inning. Hey, whatever works, right? Doesn’t have to be impressive. He clearly didn’t catch that one on the big part of the bat. just kind of muscled it out there and you know on the mound it can be pretty frustrating for a pitcher but you just kind of have to expect those to drop in there sometimes. Go ahead run on base and the batter now David Fry pulls up on it and that’s a base hit. They stop the lead runner at second. Now two on with two outs. A swing like that can help you come out of this struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. First and second, two outs. Now the third baseman, Jose Ramirez. Fast is outside. If he can get through this one, put up a zero, this will help in his outings to come. Two on, two outs. this to center field. It gets down a base hit. The run comes in from second and it’s an RBI single. It’s 43. Well, there you go. The RBI machine. Another clutch runscoring at bat. Yeah, he’s been so good in these situations. Call it clutch if you want, but his resume speaks for itself. And now it’s the switch hitter Carlos Santana. A walk and he’s also singled. Swing and a highf fly ball pulled foul and that’s out of play. Cleveland up a run looking for more outside ball. Check swing and he went one and two. Two aboard, two outs. Two balls, two strikes to count with two outs. swing and a ground ball and that one gets through into center field now. A long throw home, but it’s offline and they lead by two. Couple of hits in a row for him here. Just kept it simple. Played pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from and there was just no one there to knock it down. Here comes the manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move for the bullpen. Chris Bubich departs two-run ball game as he heads for the dugout and we’ll be back with a new pitcher. Now pitching for the So the Royals bring on a new arm. Anel Serpa. This southpaw has been really good against left-handed hitters. So, two on with two away. Now, the left fielder Nolan Jones one for two. That’s a strike. Traffic on the bases with two already in to score. Top half of inning number four. Check swing. Did he go? Yes, he did. I went through. Two on, two outs. swing and a miss and he struck him out. Good job at damage control right there. So it’s two runs on four hits, no errors and a couple left on to the bottom of inning number four now. It’s the Guardians five, Royals three. And welcome back to the ballpark. Ready to go. Bottom four. Now it’s going to be Freddy Fine. Fouled off. but he was late. Well, these Royals showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one. It’s not just the three runs they’ve already scored. On top of that, they forced this starter to throw more pitches than he wanted to at this point of the game. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. And that pitch count is impactful because if they can keep making him work hard out there, it may force the bullpen to get involved a little sooner rather than later. Chases in the dirt. Slider there. Catcher has it. Fires to first in time to get him. One away in the strikeout. That’s that classic wipe out slider below the zone right there. Just nasty. It looks like a fast ball by high that you got to protect the zone and then it’s just that late break that fools you and kind of makes you look silly. Kyle Isbel digs in now, grounded out his first time. Just missed. Well, the offense has gotten going and a pitcher wants to go out there and have a real quick inning, get those guys back into the dugout so those bats can stay hot. And another ball. Well, usually a high level of confidence when you’re facing a young pitcher out there on the mound. In this situation, ahead 200, he’s put himself in a really good spot. Well, I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning, anything after that, a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. Base is empty, one away. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. That’s ball four. Tried another fast ball, but missed the spot. The batter number six, second base Jonathan India to play India runner on the move. Pitch misses. No, that missed. That’s a ball. Throw save. When your catcher is not a great throw, you have to do a better job of controlling the running game. And that’s throwing over. That’s stepping off. doing whatever you can to try to keep that base Steelers rhythm off. Well, they weren’t able to do it right there. They’re going to have to make some type of adjustment. Our players are going to be running all game. Isbel the runner at second with one away. Two balls, no strikes to count. Cleveland has some action going in their pen. Slade Sakonei appears to be getting ready and I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves. This would be his major league debut. Allard the lefty warming up as well. That one finds the zone and it’s two and one. He’s been able to go inside as well as outside effectively working both sides of the plate in this at bat. spoils that one and it remains two and two. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Slider misses outside. The only adjustment he needs to make is his target. If you aim at the outside corner, that slider’s going to end up way off the plate. Perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it. Grounds one to short. Rochio to first. So, it was a long battle at the plate, but they still managed to get the out. The batter number seven, shortstop, Bobby Witz Jr. And next up for the Royals, Bobby Wit Jr. This guy is one of the best athletes in the sport. And that’s downstairs. And it’s one and0. runner at second. Two down in the air to left center. Martinez sizing this one up. Brings it in. And that is that. No runs, no hits, no errors, and a runner left. We played four. It’s the Guardians five, Royals three. Back here in Kansas City, top five, John Shami with Chris Singleton. And leading it off, Jonathan Rodriguez. Let’s go. And a strike in there. You know, these Guardians really impressing me with the quality of their at bats in this one. It’s been fun getting a chance to see him go to work. It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early, get him out of the game before he settles in. So, I’d say mission accomplished. up the middle with on to first and the lead offense set down in their half of the fifth. Well, we talked about how the ball is coming out of a pitcher’s hand. The way it comes out of his hand as an infielder. Wow. Really impressive. Here’s Will Wilson. Ball one there. One and one. So a foul ball makes it one and two. One down. Base is empty. Fouls it off. Still one and two. outside. Swings and misses. Struck him out. Two outs. Base is empty. Austin Hedges digs in for the Guardians. 0 for two in this one. Swang and a miss. Good late sink on that fast ball out of the hand. Looks so good. And then by the time he gets in the hitting zone, hard to get the barrel to it. Finish. Two down, nobody on. And we’re in the top of the fifth. Swing and a ball lifted in the air. Frasier makes the grab and that is that now pitching for the Guardians going with a new pitcher Slade Sone. He’s having a ton of success facing left-handed hitters this season, so this seems like a smart move to turn to him with a lefty at the plate. Vinnie Pascino steps in for the Royals. The designated hitter, Vinnie Pasquantino. Let’s do it. And immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. 01. That’s too low. And now it’s even one and one. Swinging a foul back. That’s out of play. Hit in the air. Right field. Rodriguez makes the catch and there’s one down. Now batting third baseman Mikel Garcia. And now it’ll be the cleanup spot for the Royals. Mikel Garcia. Let’s go. And that one in there at the knees for a strike. Going one. Swing and a miss. looked off balance that time. Oh, and two and a foul ball. He stays alive. A defensive swing right there. Some cheese on the inside part of the plate. Bet the hands are still stinging after that one. And that just misses. This guy’s a fun guy to watch taken at bat. He just battles up there. He doesn’t take a pitch off at all. Makes it so difficult on the pitchers out there. You could tell they get frustrated with how long it takes to put him away. Yeah, that’s outside. Next one misses and a full countdown. swing and a miss and he’s down on strikes. He battled for a long time, but it finishes with a strike out. You can’t be mad at yourself after an at bat like that one. So up now for Kansas City, Salvador Perez. Out to short. Throw on to Santana and they get Perez for the out. Inning over. KC down in order. They’re still down 53. All set for the top of the six. Stepping up for the Guardians, Brian Rochio. Come on. Serpa back to work. That one is upstairs. Serpa in his third season. He features a sinker, a slider, a four seamer, and he works in a change up. That one hit to right. Kaggle Leone makes the grab. One away. The center fielder number one, Anel. And here is Anel Martinez. First off, it just misses and that is out of play. That misses the zone and that’s ball two up the middle with slings to first in time. The batter number six designated hitter David Fry. Next for the Guardians is the designated hitter, David Fry. And it was a homer back in the first inning that got his day started at the plate. Yeah, Boo. A two-run blast. And that swing will give him confidence the rest of the way. And a popup right side foul territory. brings it in and that is that three up, three down that time. 678 do in the bottom of the sixth. It’s the Guardians five, Royals three. And we’re back. And now Jack Kaggle Leone. Come on. That one fouled off. Well, these Royals putting together some really good at bats in this game. There’s been a lot to like with how they’re approaching their chances at the plate. They really made that opposing starter work in this one. Ran his pitch count up and now they’ve got an opportunity to continue making things difficult on the bullpen. Check swing called strike. And no, they haven’t broken through in a big way in the runs column, but with the way they’re grinding out at bats, it definitely feels like there’s potential for more coming. Swinging a highfly ball right field. Martinez pulls it in and there’s one away. Up next for the Royals, the left fieldielder, Adam Frasier steps in for the Royals. And a foul ball. Fouls one off out of play. Back to our left. One down. Base is empty. fights that one away and the count remains 0 and2. Yeah, with two strikes here, you really want to miss outside the zone with that breaking ball. way inside. Ball gets a piece and stays alive. The Royals trailing by two here in the bottom of the sixth. That one 95 to finish him off. Next is the Royals catcher ready for ready. That is upstairs for ball one. And that one fouled off. That one missed. Swinging a liner. Foul off to the right. Hit in the air left field. Jones. He’s got it. And that’ll end the inning. Come on now. Now pitching for the Royals. New pitcher in the game for the Royals. Noah just trying to keep this one close here. And this is where a bullpin can give their players a chance to fight back into the game. And now it’s switchhitting third baseman Jose Ramirez. Singing. He’s a guy that covers both sides of the plate about as well as anyone in the sport. How difficult is that to do? Well, just look at the back of my bubblegum card. You’ll see how hard it is. These guys are great, man. They have the ability to look out there, but also to be able to turn on the inside pitch. Those that can really sharpen things on the outer half, those are the ones that become elite. Here’s the one. Rolled softly, but that goes foul. Very high with that one. And it’s one and two. set him down. Keeps the bat going with a foul ball right through there. Got it. And one away. That’s not the best two strike fast ball I’ve seen, but certainly got away with the location there. You know, sometimes as a hitter when you’re down in the count, you’re so focused on a pitcher painting the black and you just get a little bit locked up on something down the heart of the plate, not expecting it, and it just kind of freezes you. Pitch is in for a strike and the count is 0 and two. Bullpen action for the Royals. Sam Long, the left-hander, up and throwing. Shriber, the right-hander, also getting loose, fouls it back with two strikes. That one inside and that is ball. One ball, two strikes. Next offering misses down and away. Base is empty, one away here in the top half of inning number seven. And they’ll do it again. Very dominant with that fast ball inside. Hitters going to be conscious of that. Now you have the outer half of the plate to work with out there on the mound. Strike three. And that’s two in a row. Absolutely dotted the edge of the zone right there. That was a tough battle, man. So to make a really quality pitch and just catch him looking like that, it’s got to feel good out there on the mound. That was a fun at bat to watch. Two down, base is empty. Nolan Jones the next to hit. Breaking ball misses down and away. One ball, no strikes. Pitch misses there and it’s 2 and 0. Swing and a pop off in foul ground. Here we go. Garcia brings it in for the third out. Guardians go down one, two, three. Then it remains 53. Now pitching. We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh. Cade Smith. Well, the best relievers love the opportunity to come in and protect a tight lead late in the ball game. Some of them are just wired different. So, we’ll see what he’s got here. Kyle Isel steps in for the Royals. The center fielder Kyle Isel got it started a little too early. Strike one. 0 and one. swings through that one out in front that time. Oh, two. Battling here as he fouls it away. Knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. swinging a high-fly ball out towards right field. He’s got it. One down. Oh, those can be pretty fun as an outfielder. Got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. India stands in now and watches strike one. Man, I mean nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually was. Fouled off down the right side. Next one is off the plate. Ball one. Movement in the pen for the Guardians. Colobby Allard, the left-handed reliever, appears to be getting loose. He goes down looking. Frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter. And I’m sure that’s going to set him up for a little while. You want to be ready to hit the fast ball. Sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there. And first offering is fouled off. Pulls that one foul. Two down, nobody on here in the bottom of the seventh. Got him looking and it’s a three up, three down inning. Royals go down one, two, three. Still a two-run deficit. It’s 5-3. Now pitching forward. Welcome back. And a new arm on the mound to start the game. John Shriber. And he’s been racking up strikeouts at a high rate this year. Typically at least one in innings, so he’ll be tough to get to. Jonathan Rodriguez now at the plate. Right fielder number 30, Jonathan Rodriguez. Sharp grounder. That’s through for a base hit. So, a runner aboard to start the inning. The batter number seven, second base. Now it’s the second baseman, Will Wilson. Right through there for a strike ball activity in the bullpen. Sam Long up and throwing. Rodriguez on it first. Nobody out. Got the back going too soon. It’s strike two. One and two count. Garcia to Indian. Second for one. On to Perez. Double play. They made that double play look so easy, but it was far from routine. That’s the one thing about big leaders. They make tough plays look simple. Austin Hedges stands in 0 for three with two flyyous and a strikeout. And there’s a foul ball. swing of a foul straight back. Here’s the O2 and it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Finish him. And that one hit to first. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. Back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Hunter Gatis. He last pitched four days ago, so he should feel pretty fresh. Number 33, Hunter Gatis. Now it’s the Dinny Pasquantino. Desated hitter, Vinnie Pasquantino. Now a pop up on the infield. Ramirez under it. He makes the grab and there’s one down. Good hard fast ball up in the zone right there. They look really good coming in but so hard to get on top of as a hitter. Mikel Garcia getting ready to hit. Come on. You can do it. outside low and that’s ball one. Cleveland has some action going in their pen. Emanuel Class, the closer of the staff, is throwing. The Guardians holding on to a two-run lead here in the bottom half of the eighth inning. And that one sliced foul. That smashed towards center. That’s a base hit. And that’ll bring the tying run to the plate. Couldn’t have timed it up any better than that. That’s about as textbook as it gets. Got his stride and load out of the way early. Stayed inside that ball and squared it up out front. Man, that was like he was in the cage hitting off a te. And to the plate for Kansas City. Salvador Perez. Gatis with a move to first. Garcia back on a dive. I think you want to get a one-way lead, be very aggressive in the secondary. This hitter, not a power guy, so you want to make sure that you can get some length on the secondary lead and perhaps score a ball in the gap. Now, these guys definitely looking for a big swing of the bat right here. Try to close that gap. But, you know, at the very least, if you could find a way to manufacture that run from first. Run around to go. Swing and a miss. Save at second and Nate was not close. And that one upstairs ball one. Yeah, the one two misses to even the count. Good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. The tying run at the plate. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Misses inside and Alex three and two. Jack Peg Leon in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. So Salvi is set down on strikes. The right fielder number 14 Peg Leon will hit next for three with two strikeouts and a fly out. Pitch misses there. One and0. One and0. And that’s him for a strike. And that one a little below the knees and a count. Two and one. Fought off foul. Definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside. really think the outer half is open. Tying run at the plate. Swing and a miss and he is down on strikes for the third straight at bat. Well, needed a good strike out to get out of danger. Turned to the deception of that change up. Great execution. Really sold it with the arm speed. Had his opponent way out on that front foot. And welcome back to the ballpark. All set for the start of the inning. Now it’s the short stop. Brian Rochio Shriber back to work on the ground right side. Perez handles throws to first. Now one gone in the ninth. The center fielder number one, Anel. So up next, Anel Martinez. Just that. That’s the ball. 10 on the ground to third. Sends it to Perez. And a couple of quick outs. Up next for Cleveland, the designated hitter, David Fry. Two out, space is empty. So in now for Cleveland, David Fry. He’s already homerred in this game. Line drive, base hit. Joey gets on base and keeps it going. And his hot hitting continues. They kept him in the yard that time, but all he’s doing now is passing the baton. And everything seems to get started around this guy. Jose Ramirez, the next to hit right through there for a strike. whacked out to center field. That’s well struck way back there and out of here. A two-run homer. Home run number 20 on the year. And they add a couple more. It’s 73. That’s exactly the pitch he was looking for. Crushes it and hits it out of the ballpark. Base is empty with two away. Next is switchhitting first baseman Carlos Santana. That misses and that’s ball one. a bit behind with that swing. It’s strike one. This guy’s sink has so much drop in it. It’s almost like a split finger fast ball. Instead of just weak contact and balls on the ground, he gets swings and misses. Two down. Nobody on. Swinging a ground ball and it goes just foul on the ground to short and it’s through for a hit. Having himself a really nice game at the plate. Just a simple ground ball the other way that had eyes on it. Man, sometimes that’s all you need to do. Just let the ball travel, put the ball in play, and just hope it finds a hole. Runner at first with two away. Here’s the left fielder, Nolan Jones. Jones checks his swing. Appeal to third. No swing. Eric Summerskill with the call. Santana off of first with two away. ball inside. He’s getting a little frustrated out there on the mound getting hit around a little bit. Let’s see if he can settle himself down. That’s a little bit low. Chopper right side. Perez. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. Jose Ramirez with a homer here. It’s now 73. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. Back now as they hand the ball to a fresh arm to start the bottom of the ninth, Colby Allard. and they felt it was time to bring on a left-handed reliever from the pin with the lefty hitter coming up. I think that’s a good move. I know. I never liked when opposing teams did that to me. Digging in, Adam Frasier for three in this one. Frasier. And that one is downstairs. Ball one. Allard a 6-1 lefty. He features a fourseam fast. a curb, a cutter, and he works in a change up. Swinging a ground ball up the middle, dives, but it kicks off his glove. He beats the throw and they can’t get the out. Man at first, nobody out. Freddy Fine steps in for the Royals. Well, the leadoff man gets on. You want to minimize the threat by playing sound defense. Hopefully the pitcher can get a ball on the ground and they can roll him up for two. Nice curve ball for a strike. Back door with a breaking ball. just got the corner. There’s nothing you can really do with that. And there’s the ball. There’s the ball. One and two. Highf fly ball out towards left center. Jones sizes this one up. hauls it in for the out. Now batting center fielder Kyle Isbel. Now here is Kyle Isbel. And that one clips the corner. Liner snagged at first. Nothing you can do about those as a hitter. Even though you know that, they still drive you absolutely crazy. Jonathan, last chance for the Royals. And next up for the Royals, Jonathan India, one for four with a double. That one drilled left field and that’s just foul. Foul ball. The Guardians leading by four. We’re in the last half of the ninth inning. Foul ball still 0 and two. One strike away. Gets a piece and it stays 0 and two. Also really good at bat. What I like about this guy, his bat stays in the zone for a long time. Gives him the ability to foul off tough pitches. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. The Royals down by four here in the last half of inning number nine. Got him. And that’s the ball game. Sometimes road trips can be tough. You’re away from your family, but when you can win, silence that opposing crowd, it makes things just a little bit better. Makes the road trip just a little bit shorter. 73 is how this one ends for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shambi saying so long. Heat. Heat. What the heat?
