Athletics vs. Astros Game Highlights (7/25/25) | MLB Highlights
And tonight they’ll try and turn around with Ryan Gusto on the mound. Yep. He’s going to go out there and make his 13th start, his 23rd appearance. 446 is the overall ERA. He’s having a very good month of June with 2.19 RA. Oh my. Okay, that plays. How about starting out the game with a bang? Three straight fast balls and a strikeout to start this one. And that will bring up the designated hitter, Nick Curts. And he is on fire right now. 19 for his last 38. as an 11game hit streak for Kurts who had three hits last night. Driven the other way and down for a hit and it’ll be a long single for Kurts. That extends his hitting streak to 12 games. A one out single and here’s Brent Rooker. Just a machine. Swing and a miss. Fast is playing for Ryan Gusto. Both of his strikeouts on 96 mph heaters. Here’s the two- two pitch. That’s one line drive. Base hit left field for Shay going to second base is Curts. to the A’s now. First and second, two outs. Great at bat for Langaliers. It’s on those pitches. Here’s Tyler Soderstrom. So Curts at second. Langalers at first for the A’s and a breaking ball laced into the alley left center. McCormack on the run. It drops down and goes all the way to the wall. Curts will score. Here comes Langalers. And Sodstrom has a two RBI double. The A’s lead early. It’s his 17th double of the year and his team leading 58th and 59th RBI’s of the year. 16 games in a row now where the Astros opponent has scored first. It really is remarkable. It is something else. Wilson batting in the six spot. Hitless over his last four games. Looking to change that here and now. 3-2 payoff pitch. Ground ball up the middle and through for a base hit. Sodrom will come around to score and Wilson has an RBI single. It’s three to nothing early. What a bullet for Jacob Wilson. And he needed that big time. The team needed it. The team needed a two out base hit. And Jacob Wilson delivered it. Jeffrey Springs left-hander on the mound for the A’s. Eight and seven. 4.18 RA in 21 games, 19 starts. And Smith lifts this one in a shallow center. And that’s going to dunk in for a base hit. So Cam Smith is aboard. One-two pitch, ground ball to third. Gio gets rid of it quickly onto Schuman over to first in a 543 double play. gets the first two outs of the bottom of the first inning. That’s swung on. Line drive to center. Butler coming on to make the running catch for the out. Nice job by Lawrence. Played a great center field. No runs, one hit, nobody left. We’re through an inning. Two outs. That’ll bring up the designated hitter, Nick Curts. Curts has certainly been a bright spot for the Athletics. 38 extra base hits since April 23rd. That’s the day he made his major league debut. Now he goes inside out deep to left. Four. Forget about that baseball. Come on. It’s It’s ridiculous. His 20th of the year. Make that 39 extra base hits for Curts on the year. And that is a screamer to left. Five to nothing. It is just incredible to watch this power unleash itself. I mean, left field, center field, right field, it doesn’t matter. And how about Pops? Let’s go. This guy is unbelievable. They just can’t get him out. No. Here is Soderstrom. Sodstrom doubled and scored in that first inning. That’s Swagan driving to deep right field. Going back is Cam Smith and it’s gone. A home run for Sodstrom. It’s 6 nothing A’s. Sodrom’s 19th of the year. His 60th RBI. Tyler Sodrom steps up here, delivers a solo shot to keep the scoring going. How about a sod pop to quench your thirst. There’s a leadoff hit by pitch by Springs. And that’s how we start the bottom of the third inning. That one’s away. And Chaz Chaz got it right off of a line drive for a base hit to put two runners on. Don’t see that too often where the pitcher hits the previous batter and then takes a line drive off the backside. So now two on and the 3-2 pitch is swung through and missed. So Springs gets his second strike out of the game in the first of the third inning. One away. Here’s Cam Smith as Springs delivers, but Swan bounced back to Springs. might be two to second for one. Schuman to first. They get the double play. Cortez a single to center. Didn’t try to do too much with it. Picks up his second career big league hit. Curts two hits, a homer, two RBI’s, two runs scored, extending his hitting streak to 12 games. I mean, running out of words to say. One, two, high in the air deep left center field. Traveling back is Hmel and it is off the wall. Cortez coming around to score and Curts has a double to the deepest part of the ballpark. Churn it up. Big Amish. A swing as smooth as butter, baby. My goodness. I mean, you close your eyes and squint. It’s almost like it’s a sprinkler up there cuz it just continues to spray, spray, spray. He’s three for three in the game and he is 6 for8 in the series. He picks up his 20th double of the year. That RBI double is going to help Joe Aspatada make his decision. Gusto gone. Well, Nick Hernandez is the new pitcher on for the Astros. Brent Rooker three pitch strikeout. How about that for Nick Hernandez to start his outing getting the number three hitter on three pitches. Langers has singled and scored and struck out one for two. That swung on drive to deep left field just looking up is Hmel and it is gone. And a home run for Langalers and it’s 9 nothing Athletics for Shay. His 15th of the year in RBI’s 39 and 40. Boy, Shay got him a a little hang piece, a cement mixer if you will. That thing was hanging up there in the zone and he just tomahawkked it. The Athletics are just terrorizing the baseball right now. McCormack a two out single. He’s two for two. The third hit for Houston. And that’ll pick up the short stop. Here is Zack Short. That ball hit pretty well to left. All the way back and into the Crawford boxes. Zack Short hits number two on the season and the Astros get two runs back. It’s now a 9-2 game. How about that? Get big, Zack Short. A little light to the Dyken Park faithful. 20th home run allowed by Spring. 17 of the 20 to right-hand hitters like Short. So, one out, nobody on for Nick Curts. Second straight three hit day for him. Curts the most extra base hits in Major League Baseball this month by a lot. He has 22. Salvador Perez has 15. One in the air to deep left. Houston, you do have a problem. His name is the big Amish. This kid is incredible. Oh my gosh. You know what? I almost can’t believe what I’m seeing. He He He’s This is just too easy. He’s four for four with a single double and two home runs. It’s now 102 Athletics. John Singleton now will come and come up and hit for Christian Walker. Here’s the one pitch. That’s one hard hit ball. Diving stopped by Wilson. Gets up, fires to first and got him. Nice play by Jacob Wilson. Diving play and they get the 63 put out worth several exclamation points. A one, two, three, six for Springs. We’re through six complete. Well, you got to go all the way back to 1998. That was the last time that you had an A’s rookie with a five hit game. First pitch. Oh my. My goodness. It’s unbelievable. This kid is on another planet. He has done it. A three homer game for Nick Curts. Oh my goodness. It’s 112 Athletics. A single double and three homers for Nick Curts. I almost don’t believe what I’m watching. There is not a better player right now on the planet. This is unbelievable. Three homers for Kurts. It’s 11-2 Athletics. Ninth inning. A’s with an 11-2 lead over the Astros. And Cooper Hmel now will pitch for Houston. Normally an outfielder. A base hit for Butler. Ursello rips it to left. That’ll drop down and kick off the wall. Butler going from first to third. Ella will head into second base standing up. Line drive through for a hit. Urchella held up at third and the chance has come alive. Buddy, how about that? First player in A’s history with five hits, five runs, five RBI, and three homers. Buddy, I might jump out of this booth. Swinging a drive deep to left. He’s done it four times. Ha! What a magical night for the big Amish. Smooth as butter, baby. Turn it up. Incredible. Simply incredible. First player in athletics history with a four homer game. It’s an eight RBI game for Nick Curts. A four homer game. Unreal. One of the greatest offensive performances in the history of this game. Yeah. Tal in with a head first slide with a leadoff double. Oh, he hit it high and deep. But is it deep enough? No. But it’s at least an Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. We win it. There it is. Yes. They let it fall between left and center for a pick this life. Big boy. Thank you. Take that, Boie. And the Astros are down to their final out. Driven to deep left. Colobby Thomas broke back. Now comes in. This should do it. And it does. The Athletics win 15-3 on the shoulders of Nick Curts. Well, it was a historical night for a lot of different reasons. This will be a night that none of these guys on the green and gold will ever forget.

The A's are exciting to watch! π¦ΎNick is a STUD!
Espada has no clue on how to make his lineup. He keeps changing everyone almost evryday. That is the reason i keep callin Espada Dusty 2.0
It is a joke people are talking about him being manager of the year. He always leaves his starter in to long when they are getting hit. By the time he takes them out its always a 6 or more run lead for the other team. Batting Cam Smith first is also a mistake he should be batting 3rd. Walker should be batting 7th until he figures it out. Why is he even playing McCormick π Espada is an incompetent manager.
Jeff Fisher will sell Kurtz to the highest bidder this off-season.
Yikes what wrong with the Astros A's seem to own them recently lmao.
Player if the Minth and ROY candidate
I love the Aβs π I hope they can someday make a run π
Wow, Nick and the A's is so entertaining to watch this season. π₯
Kid is a hall of fame hitter. He has that Ken Griffey Jr. type of long, effortless swing.
Note this comment. As a rookie, it's already obvious he's going to be a hall of famer.
A's have an embarrassment of young riches on offense. As a SD fan, I'm super jealous.
NICK KURTZ 6 FOR 6, 4 HRS, 8 RBIS HAVE A NIGHT KID ππ!!!
For an Astros fan, this game was like a crime scene. Step away from the tape, nothing to see here folks.
Man, his swing is so effortless – he just flicks the bat and out it goes! That was awesome to witness. Hope he has a long, successful career we can all enjoy following.
Good job Kurtz might as well give something the As fans can cheer for.
When the Athletics win, America wins.
Wow. Nick owns the Astros lol. L
How? What? Rookie? What just happened
We can sweep the dodgers but canβt beat the athletics. Good job Kurtz. Keep doing the impossible, stop doing it on my team tho. Haha
Crazy because he missed having a 5 HR night by about 10 feet with that shot to deep left center. Just missed going out of the park. Unreal
