Eh. Tbh I’ve seen pretty much a lot of the same takes from so called Spurs fans lately too. This teams’ got an explosion of Wemby only fans and therefore everyone except him has been called expendable for the last 2 years.
Can’t think of a single second Spur that’s universally considered unexpendable by everyone.
I love how every time a quote comes out like this from “anonymous executive”, that sub takes it as supreme proof that Fox is getting traded immediately lol

Nah let them have it. The Bibby, Webber, Divac and Stojakovic kings team was the only good team they ever had and it was downhill after that. Besides, the jury is still out for how Wemby and Fox chemistry works.
As a kings fan a motivated and healthy fox should go absolutely crazy for the spurs. The only thing he’s never had in his career is stability and rim protection. Lights might be a little bright for him at first tho.
Probably next off-season he’ll be traded.
Everyone needs to take a step back, look past the headline, and try and take a logical view of things:
Right now, Fox is absolutely not “expendable”. He is our 2nd best player by far, and will be the driver of our offence. We are also about to pay him big money (I expect) in a weeks time, and he is worth that right now.
But, you also need to be prepared for all possibilities in the future. That doesn’t mean get rid of Fox now. It doesn’t even mean short-change him on the contract (if a number was agreed already).
It means being aware for what’s coming up. Fox will be our highest paid player (by almost double, for now), and will be close to (or slightly less, if not the max) than Wemby’s next extension only if Wemby makes the 30% criteria (a certainty but only if he plays 65 games in season 3 or 4).
And that will also time with the development of Castle and Harper. I don’t think Castle will get to Fox’s individual level (but his defence could make him a better playoff contributor), but if Harper doesn’t become better than Fox at his peak, well I think that would be a sub-par outcome for Dylan.
So that all adds up to the very real possibility that in the 2nd half of that next extension, Fox will not only probably be expendable, but will also likely be a contract that we actively want to move on from.

Think about what their experience has been in the past several years:
They came out of a seemingly endless dark tunnel (16 season playoff drought) to be one of the most fun, exciting, relevant offenses in the league for like a single season….only to be suddenly forced straight back into that long dark tunnel of aimless mediocrity by their FO/Ownership.
I sincerely feel bad for Kings fans. Not in a condescending snide way either. It legit sucks what they have to go through with the way that franchise is run. They can punch up at us, but i’m not going to punch down on them.
I mean seemed like a 50/50 split on mocking the post/Kings FO and hating on Fox. I’ve seen worse threads here hating on Dev or KJ or Brian Wright.

Celtics fan here and I just want to pitch in that the rest of the league is just jealous of your future. This Spurs core can go the distance, and not just Wemby. So many great young players, and Fox is a helluva player. Hope you kick ass and take names in the West this upcoming season! All the best, from one great franchise to another!
are they wrong though? three primary ball handling guards with questionable three point shots certainly leaves some concerns around future roster construction. the spurs traded for fox because they had the opportunity to get him for pennies. I don’t see why they should feel married to him indefinitely. i think he should stay short term because you need a vet to help get them back to the playoffs but long term I agree that hes expendable if harper and castle pan out.
Tbh, everyone is expendable. If a better player becomes available, you trade for him.
Just an example. You trade Harper for Flagg. You trade Fox or Castle for Ant. You trade Fox for Cade. Etc.
The only player that isn’t expendable in the NBA right now is Wemby. Not for Jokic. Not for Giannis. Not for Luka. Not for Shai. Wemby is untouchable.
The last anonymous scout said Victor has no offensive impact. Take what these scouts say and throw it in the trash.

I am an avoid backer of do t trade anyone I love everyone but I think everyone is expendable on the team but Wemby until they make a reason as to why they need a slot. We are so deep and paying the money we will pay to keep everyone we will require consistent production. That said I hope we keep everyone we have and win a chip with them every year for the next ten or so
I still don’t see why you can’t have 3 good guards, 2 of them on rookie contracts with plenty of time to develop. Its a great problem to have.
Either way, I’ll take that over fighting over the 10th seed led by Derozan, Lavine, and Shroedder.
