Top MLB DEFENSIVE Plays of 7/25! (Who flashed the leather tonight?!)
Brewers have their infield in. Ashby makes the play. Coming home now. Oh, almost threw it away. Contras with a great save and gets the tag on Lopez. I’ll tell you, great job by Contrarus. Boy, you got to be on the balls of your feet. You never know where that ball’s going to go. And he’s able to make that adjustment. If he’s flatfooted on the bag expecting a perfect throw, that ball’s to the back stop. That’s a heck of a defensive play by the Brewer catcher. Somebody might be now as Corbin Carroll racing around the bag and here he comes. There’s the throw. He is out. O’Neal Cruz guns down Carol. He’s anticipating making a throw. He just puts the ball right on the money. High in the air by Sheets, but no carry to that. Walker sets up and makes the grab. tagging and advancing is the runner from second to third. And the runner at first, Bogarts, runs into an out. Thank you very much. Comes in and an easy out on Bogarts. Runner goes pitches in there for a strike. Here’s the throw and got him. A strike him out. Throw him on double play. See where this kind of runs armside right there. Right into the base runner. That was perfect on the ground. Montero juggles it. picks it up and does have the out at first. If it gets through, it’s probably a double play, but he had no chance of dodging that thing. He actually went behind the back. He did. That’s We talked about that last night. It’s so instinctive for a ball hit back to a pitcher. You’re going to try to field the ball. English had tried the backhander. Kicked off the glove. Diffani covers and they’re able to get the out. Marte right there. Picks him upand and just makes a perfect throw to the pitcher. Two two to Lee. grounded down to first. Behind the bag, Alonzo turns, hits Holmes, and just in time to get Lee. So, Pete had to work his way back and toward the grass. He fielded the ball in fair territory and then stepped onto the grass behind the cutout and then turned and fired a strike. Coulson Montgomery backhand. Oh, he just makes it look smooth at third. That’s just a terrific play. Good backhand. He smothers the short hop and then gets it across in plenty of time. He’s got a cannon for an arm. That ball smashes the bat. Ras third goes to second. Got the out there. That is such a good play right there. He’s been exceptional down there tonight and just an outstanding throw and a nice stretch by Jordan Westbrook. Ground ball. Williamson has it. Racing home. Cal Raleigh’s got it. Chasing down Newman. The pound applied by Crawford. Two outs. That was remarkable. Newman got caught in no man’s land. Nowhere to go. And the Mariners get the second out. Newman erased from third base. Unreal. Newman going on contact. An easy play for Ben Williamson to get to the ball. Then Newman caught in the rundown between third and home. A huge second out. Nice play by Ben Williamson to the right side. Tricky hop and what a play by Ernie Clement. No matter where you put him, he makes the plays. An outstanding play by Clement at second. Burke comes in. First pitch swing in. Can’t zone. And a nice play made out there and right by Chris Taylor. What a catch. Play there. Zach Meadow going, “Yeah, I love good defense.” Line to center. Victor has to adjust on the fly and made the catch. the old Adam ball able to have that closing speed, the instincts to get to it. That one hit sharply backhanded by Bregman. Bregman’s throw in time and he held the bag even it from foul ground just to get to this ball diving down the line. This had base hit written all over it. Mostly the arm strength to throw it off your back foot on the ground and to the backand. Cronorth will pop up and fire to first for the out. Nice play by Jake Cronorth. Two down. Well, if you keep it score at home, put a star next to that play. I sure do. Ball hits sharply to Jake’s right. Oh, he’ll get dirty with the best of them. Carves it out to short left. Lurtis with a sliding grab. Negarero off the bag at third and he makes it back just in time. What a terrific rolling catch by Lordis Goreel Jr. He might have just saved the game right there. He absolutely might have. That was not an easy play as this ball’s just kind of dunked out towards left field to right field and a nice diving catch by Brian Reynolds in right field. He elected to go head long on the dive and took a hit away from Corbin Carroll. One out. There’s a swing and a deep drive out into left center field. Taylor makes a sliding catch on the warning track. What a play. That ball looked like it was trying to just get away from Taylor who closed in on it in a hurry. In the air down the right field line. Barger still racing after it. And does he have it? He does. A sliding catch on the track in foul territory down the line. A great play by Barger for out number one. Accelerates and slides into just the side of that fence there. What a play by Barger. It’s a ground ball picked by Storyboard again. Got the throw and tie. Plenty of time. What a play by Trevor Story. Made it look easy and threw out Rojos with plenty of room to spare. Really mastered that jump throw and you said a room to spare as well for Trevor Story who got rid of it quickly. Sled, stole a bag, and scored. He sends this to left center. Clean breakout. Taken away. Austin Hayes with a huge catch. I didn’t think Hayes was going to get to it originally. The ball was just hit too hard. Full extension. That is big time.
