Cubs vs. White Sox Game Highlights (7/26/25) | MLB Highlights
Game two here in this three-game set and the White Socks with the best post Allstar break win percentage. Let’s hope Aaron Savali and the Socks can keep this thing rolling. Fast ball at the knees. Strike three to start the ball game. Whenever a hitter takes a fast ball for strike three, you’re pretty much wondering what he’s looking for because this one had the whole plate. Swung on and missed. Strike three on a slider in the dirt. Dug out by Teal. That’s a one, two, three start for Aaron Savali. Kade Horton scoreless baseball in three of his last six starts. Ground ball rate as a Cub significantly higher than what he did down at Iowa. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Kate Horton strikes out Mike Tman. One up, one down, one strike out. Mroth takes a one out walk. That’ll bring up Andrew Benendenny. The DH a one-two pitch. Swing and a base hit on the ground right field. That’s going to let Mroth get to third. Tucker will fire back into her and the White Socks picking up where they left off last night. First and third with one out. Ground ball hit deep in the hole at short fielded by Swanson. A second for one. Her to first double play. Horton works out of the jam. Aaron Savali back to work in the second. He went one, two, three in the first. 3-2 coming. Called strike three. Perfect spot. Outside corner three strikeouts early. He has to do this to be successful, right? Just work around the edge of the strike zone. Pitch swung on and missed on a curved strike three. Boy, is he really keeping them guessing. Nothing. Nothing. Bottom three here from right field. Kate Horton. Two scoreless frames so far. In the air to right. Tucker. One out. Tag and a miss. Strike three. best change up he’s thrown tonight and a line drive hit to left ranging over hat angling toward the line he makes the catch for out number three gets the socks to go down in order here in the third two down top of the fourth Cubs and White Socks are scoreless Suzuki at the plate right side it is the first base runner for the Cubs two out single in the fourth sea Suzuki doesn’t exactly blister this ball so all he just misses the spot trying to go down and away with the breaking pitch and it stays up and in. Here’s PCA. You just feel the crowd here get a little bit louder every time PCA steps to the plate. A one0 and he pops it up back of short. Maid has his arms out and he two hands it and that’s it. So they get Savali into the stretch for a couple of pitches and that is all. Kelly rips it to short. top the glove my drop and Kelly aboard to start the fifth. Hey, so for the first time tonight they don’t strike or saval does not strike out the leadoff man. It’s going to be a too hot to handle single for Kelly Maidov gets caught in between one right side and it’s into right field for a base hit. Nice knock for Hard. Backto back singles here for the Cubs to start the fifth. And a great opportunity now to break through and take the lead in this game. It’s been a rough rough go for Ian for extended period of time. Good solid single here though through the hole with runners now on at the corners with one away. And now the Cubs need a big swing of the bat from Nicoer. Shallow fly ball right field. Dman with the grab and that runner will have to stay put at third base. Go for one tonight. 10 for 21 since the break. A swing and a chopper cut off by Montgomery in front of Maidroth and he throws to first in time. Nice work by Aaron Savali. He gets out of a jam. Still nothing. Nothing in the fifth. Cubs leave two. Michael Bush off the lefty. That’s a leadoff single. Back to back hits to get the fifth inning started. Cubs couldn’t do anything with it. And now Michael Bush does a nice job staying in there. This breaking pitch moving down and away. Keeps that front side closed. And one, two coming. Swing and a miss on a top rail fast. Except for that time it made a difference. So he strikes out. Here’s Sea Suzuki. He did get the green light into center and the catch is made by Brooks Baldwin. Runner takes off. One-1 pitch. He’s hit in the air. This should get Alexander out of the inning. Shallow center. Baldwin there. Taylor makes a catch as they got together. That started to look a little scary, but Michael A. Taylor took charge and half single last at bat. Half out to right. Mike Taka back at the warning track. He jumps. It’s gone. Ian Hap is back with a jack. Solo shot number 14 for Happer. Breaks the scoreless tie. It’s one to nothing. Cubs in the seventh. It has been a rough drop off go. And how good does Mustaf feel? High towering shot to right center field. Tacman goes back. He’s got some history in this series of making great catches and pulling balls back over the wall. He leaps and it hits the railing right above the yellow line and Tman almost makes a play, but Ian puts the Cubs ahead by a run. Two down, top seven. Cubs with a one- nothing lead. Shaws for two. He swings, hits a high-fly ball deep left down the line. If it stays fair, it’s gone. It’s gone. Matt Shaw with a tworun home run into the left field corner and the Cubs go up three to nothing over the White Socks here in the seventh. Shaw continues his postallar break terror. He’s now riding an eightgame hitting streak and he’s got six home runs now on the year. Yeah. And it’s inner half up and he hammers this ball and I I mean he hits this ball a long way up the bleachers in left right down the line at the beginning I was like it’s got to stay fair and it did. Cubs lead three nothing. Kate Horton seventh inning of work as this ball’s popped up in short right field. Tuck coming in and Michael Bush kind of fades off and it’ll be the first out of the inning as Bushy handles that one off the bat of Vargas. That’s all they’re going to ask out of him. Craig Council’s making his way to the mound. Pete Crow Armstrong checks in with two outs. He rips that one out to rights off the wall. PCA to second and will start a new extra base hit streak. Now walk the bases loaded in the eighth inning. And Dansby Swanson do up. Dansby wide drive left field falls in for a base hit. Two-run score. Dansby Swanson comes up clutch two-run two out single here in the eighth. It is five to nothing Cubs. Quite the two out rally. Double walk two-run single walk. And here’s the suddenly surging Matt Shaw and it’s ball four. Base is loaded. Walk Matt Shaw. Ryan Presley comes on. He’s going to try to wrap it up for the Cubs. Socks have just four hits tonight and they’ve all been singles. Fly ball deep right field. Tucker going back at the wall and it’s Tuckman getting the socks on the board. A solo shot to start this bottom of the ninth inning. His seventh of the season. Well, you got the big bats coming up with Miguel Vargas looking for his first hit here tonight. Hit to short. Dansby to second for one for the win. Yep. In style. 643 game ending double play.
