BREAKING – Seahawks RB Kenny McIntosh carried off the field at practice (REACTION and ROSTER IMPACT)
This just in from Seahawks training camp at the V-Mac in Renton. First reported by ESPN’s Brady Henderson. Also confirmed now by Bob Kandota. The Seattle Times, Greg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune. Running back Kenny Macintosh had to be helped off the field today after going down non-cont injury during a special teams drill. The fourth day of training camp for the Seahawks. Pads not on yet. Um, showing you the photograph here. This is courtesy of Greg Bell as Brady Henderson first reported had to be essentially carried off the field, not just helped on the field. Couldn’t put any weight on his leg at all. Now, this is not an insignificant injury. The Seahawks running back room is young and deep and talented. Um, but this is way too early in training camp to have injuries uh that you need to account for in the running back room. And there’s already enough attrition on a year-to-year basis. Certainly, we know that here in Seattle. No one will ever forget the time in 2019 in a playoff push when Marshawn Lynch had to come out of retirement and off the couch in order to help the team because they were ravaged by injuries at the position. No sooner had I posted on my Substack an updated 53man roster projection based solely on what I saw up close and personal the last three days at training camp. Then I had to edit it because I had Macintosh making the roster over this year’s seventh round draft pick Damen Martinez out of Miami. Now, as I explained in the piece, and we’ll talk more about this tonight on a live show, I love Damen Martinez. Have for a long time going all the way back to his time at Oregon State and certainly in the draft. Thought he was an absolute steal in the seventh round. Thought he was a third or fourth round talent. uh but had uh some pretty serious inexperience and uh ineffectiveness in the passing game. In fact, on Thursday, we saw him drop a couple of passes, easy balls out of the back field, just kind of uh amplifying that point. He just wasn’t asked to do it a lot either at Oregon State or Miami. So, a lot of lot of work needed in pass protection as well. And that was the reason that I went with Macintosh over Damen Martinez. Now, why can’t you keep all four, you might ask me? Because the Seahawks have a different roster construction conundrum to deal with this year with some of the scheme changes and some of the ways that Clint Kubak uses personnel. They have to account this year for the first time in several years for a fullback, a true fullback. Right now, it looks like that’s rookie Robbie Oops with Brady Russell playing in a tight end hybrid fullback role also backing him up there. uh but also having to account for a third quarterback. That is going to happen. So you have to take from other positions somewhere. And even though Clint Kubak likes to go with two backs at times, more often with a fullback and a running back than with two running backs, I was tempted to keep all four running backs, but I just couldn’t make it work. Read the substack if you’d like. I’ll link it down below. Join me tonight. We’ll have a Q&A and a live give and take where we’ll talk about some of the roster questions you might have based on what I saw and just kind of how things are are looking coming out of the V-Mac. But that’s the reason I went with Macintosh over Damen Martinez. Macintosh uh extremely efficient as a pass catcher and productive. We certainly saw that at the University of Georgia. um didn’t get any opportunities as a rookie because of an injury that he suffered then during training camp during the uh mock game his rookie year at Lumen Field. Also uh well not also. We don’t know what the issue is today, but at that time it was a knee injury. Essentially cost him his rookie year. He basically red shirted. Didn’t get an opportunity last year until late in the season in particular against the Green Bay Packers at home in Lumen Field. Uh finally got 31 carries last year. averaged 5 1/2 yards a carry. Looks to be a guy that can contribute in the passing game and in the running game and would be a solid fit in this new zonebased run offense that Clint Kubak is bringing with him from uh the New Orleans Saints and his stops before that. So, uh already went in and changed it, you know, based on this. Again, we have seen players helped off the field before and it turns out to be nothing serious. But in this case, the initial indications are not good and you have to expect that Kenny Macintosh might at least be out for the next few weeks, which will give Damen Martinez more of an opportunity to make an impression in particular starting Monday when the pads come out and we get to have some contact. That is where Damen Martinez should shine. 60% more than 60% of his yards last year for the University of Miami came after contact. He is a physical physical runner and if he wants to make this roster or if he wanted to make this roster and I made this point in the piece that I posted, he was going to have to be such a dynamic presence in the running game that they felt comfortable living with some of his learning curve that he’s going to require as a pass protector and a pass catcher coming out of the backfield so they can use him more often. So, that’s the latest. According to all the beat riders now have chimed in that are there on the scene. Uh Kenny Macintosh had to be carried off the field today after going down a non-cont injury suffered in uh special teams work. We will wait to hear after practice uh well, we might not even have any official word then, but we will wait to hear uh over the next couple of days ultimately what Kenny Macintosh’s status is. That’ll do it for now. what I’m working on. Uh, as I mentioned, later tonight, 7:30 Pacific time, we will go live. Sorry about last night. Didn’t have all this set up. Really wanted to get back to where uh I had my full setup and can do things right uh so that I can engage with all of you properly. So, tune in tonight. I will share, in case you haven’t read it on the Substack, my now updated 53man roster projection. I’ll be making that change to the running back room. Some surprises. And again, it’s based only on what I’ve seen over the first three days at practices. I did get access for those first three practices. Got to see it from up close. So, join me on the channel tonight. Subscribe if you haven’t already. Follow me on Twitter at Seahawks Forever for any breaking news before then or any other analysis. Uh, working on a couple other things today as well. We’ll talk about those tonight. Forever and always. Go Hawks. Thanks for watching you guys. We’ll see you in a bit.
According to several sources on hand, Seattle Seahawks third-year running back Kenny McIntosh had to be carried off the field after going down during a non-contact special teams period today during the teams fourth training camp practice.
Tune in for my initial reaction, and how it might impact the team’s 53-man final roster.

THAT SUCKS FEEL BAD FOR THE KID NEXT MAN UP DM HEARS YOUR OPEN DOOR BRO
Damn, best wishes to Kenny and fingers crossed that there are no other injuries.
Martinez and Halani are next up.
Happened right in front of me. Looked like he tried to avoid contact on drill
Damn, my fav RB gets hurt. This sucks man. Was really rooting for him to make an impact this year.
He will miss this season if it's a torn ACL as being reported. Heal up Kenny. Hope you get to remain a Seahawk and don't get waived.
Darth Vader-NOOOOOOO!!!
Is George Holani still around?
I am really sorry to hear this. Kenny McIntosh has been a favorite of mine since he was drafted. I wish him well in whatever it is that he has to recover from. So let's see when DM has.
Poor guy.
It really sucks for him.
You got George holani as well let’s work!🙏🏾
Non-contact accidents are usually the worst ones.
See him next year , he got money anyway
That makes me sad
Training camp injuries are just awful. At least it’s very early. I guess. Non contact injuries are scary.
He has two years left on his rookie contract. He won't be cut. He'll be placed on season ending IR, and we'll see him again next year.
Wishing you the best
Martinez will be beast mode for us you'll see
You know Charbonea could be a halfback hybreed that they could use to keep defences questioning who's getting the ball
We are cursed
