REKAP: ⚾️ Chicago Cubs 6-1 win over Chicago White Sox. ‘Jed Hoyer is about to get busy!’

Welcome into the recap of the Cubs six to1 victory over the White Socks game two of the cross town series at Rate Field on Saturday evening. I’m David Kaplan. It’s brought to you by our great partners at Winrust. They are the exclusive home of Cubs and White Sox checking. Click the QR code on your screen or winrust.com/cubs or winrust.comox for all the details on your very own Cubs or White Sox checky account. Quality starting pitching on both sides. Uh Kate Horton a little bit better than Aaron Savale tonight, but Savale gave the White Sox five shutout innings. He was very, very good. Kate Horton pitched an inning into the seventh and then one big swing loosened everything up. We’ll get right to that. It’s also brought to you by our great partners at Tasty Trade, a name I’m seeing all over Wrigley Field these days. Stocks, options, futures, crypto, Tasty Trade has everything you trade all in one place. tastyrade.com/offer for more information. Well, in the seventh inning of a shutout 000 ball game, the Cubs got a big swing from a guy who’s been struggling mightily. Ian Hap steps up. Bing, bang, boom. Out of here. One- nothing Cubs. And you could see the relief on his face. You could see the relief in the Cubs dugout when he came back in. And then in that same inning with a man on, Nicoer aboard, Matt Shaw, who’s probably hearing all the Eugenio Suarez rumors that he might be getting traded to the Cubs. Guess what? Matt Shaw with a rocket to left field on an elevated fast ball. Matt Shaw drives it out down the left field line. It’s three nothing Cubs. And the way Horton was throwing as well as that very good Cubs bullpen, you thought they’ve got a great chance to put this one away. Then in the eighth, they added on Dansby Swanson a two-run single. Matt Shaw bases loaded walk. And then in the bottom of the ninth, Mike Tauman off Ryan Presley. He had a solo home run to center field, right center field actually. And that made it the final margin, six-1. Let’s look at the pitching matchup we like to call winging it. Brought to you by our great partners at Hooters originalhooters.com. 11 Chicago area locations. Kate Horton six in the third. A four hit no run 3k one walk baseball. Cubs finished it off with Theelbar Keller and Presley for the White Socks. Aaron Savali. Five innings, three hits, no runs. He punched out six. But then a you a group of five relievers. Alexander with a scoreless inning. Leisure with a three hit, three-run all earned two home run inning. And then Gilbert Altivvilla, he struggled. Gilbert gave up a run and then Isert finished it off. It’s a really good win for the Cubs because the Brewers lost again at home to the Marlins tonight. So the Cubs are back tied at top the division. We are five days from the trade deadline and I fully expect both Jed Hoyer and Chris gets to be very very busy but probably 72 hours left. That’s when you’ll start to see the log jam open and a bunch of deals get made. Player of the game, it’s easy. Our apt player of the game abt.com. There’s your promo code right there. It’s got to be Kate Horton. Six and a third shut out innings. But all the I and half hate, he said, “Take that with a big home run.” That is your gamewinning hit. Uh that was a much needed blast off his bat. And then Matt Shaw, a big two-run bomb as well. Cubs win six to one, tie to top the division. Make sure you keep following me on social. Keep it locked here on our channel. You can get me at the Catman on Instagram and of course uh right here on our recap channel. and on my ex Twitter account because as a trade breaks I’ll be all over it. We’ll go live. We’ll have emergency podcast. We’ll have everything. And we have a trade deadline show 4:30 on Thursday. A live trade deadline show. Me, Ryan McGuffy, Gordon Whitmer. We’ll be all over it. Have a great rest of your night. Cubs win, baby. That’s it. Back tied for first. Take that.

The Chicago Cubs finally got a big hit first in what was a scoreless deadlock into the 6th. Ian Happ hit a solo homer to start the scoring for the Cubs and then Matt Shaw followed with a 3-run blast to continue his hit streak to 8 games. Cade Horton pitched into the 7th and silenced the White Sox bats. Mike Tauchman homered in the 9th to get the Sox on the board. Kap says with the deadline just days away, he fully expects Jed Hoyer to be busy in the trade market in the next 72 hours. The Milwaukee Brewers lost so the Cubs are back tied atop the NL Central. Aaron Civale tossed 5 scoreless innings as he’s likely to be traded in the coming days.

  1. It was Shaw's 2 run blast that was the winner Kap. If they didn't score after Happ's homer the game would have been tied 1-1 in the 9th.

  2. Kap. How about this trades idea
Wicks for Yankees top prospect Jones.
Then go to A's for their DH/ 1st baseman Kuntz..
    DFA Brujan
Then trade for Tauchman too help in outfield

  3. Kap nice bounceback win tonight for the cubs. Let's wake up tomorrow morning kap grab a cup of coffee ☕️ and find a way to win a damn baseball game. Let's take this series tomorrow before the real showdown next week with the brewers. Take that

  4. Kap. Stop being hoodwinked by Ricketts. Jed isn’t doing shit. He’ll say the return of Javier Assad and Jameson Taillon are the deadline moves.

  5. Cubs win for nothing! If they were really "any good" they whould have won by way of sweep and take advantage of a "last place team".! Too bad, this is the Problem and the norm with our beloved Cubies. They have a hard time putting away 50% lower ball clubs like our White Sox at the moment. Playoffs are a whole different animal….

To me the Cubs struggled to "look the apart" from a team with World Series aspirations that can close any team out at will.
If you add both scores white Sox win overall. That shouldn't be.
I have mentioned it to you before in the beginning of season they do not have enough pitching (does it look similar to 2016 elite???ish)

and you put me on mute!!. No worries. Thanks Kap that explains alot. I listen intently to all espn shows religiously including yours. Unfortunately They will never have enough pitching this season.

Mr. Kaplan please do not get excited over nothing. Im sure, no matter what trade the Cubies do they will not get enough in return to put forth a legitimate run to the World Series. Especially what they have in thier farm system to trade for????.
You have 1 other star possible 2…..

When the Cubs look back on this. They will be right back were they were started lookin up at the Brew Crew. Sorry to say. Where the Cubs gave up several future stars for a facade season. On a rental PCA. I will be shocked if he signs with the Cubs when other teams will definitely outbid the Cubs for his services. He Sells a hell of a lot of 🍻 Beers thats for sure.

Cubs 1st round TKO out the playoffs. If they are lucky to get thier.

No re signing of PCA star next season.

No upcoming prospects because you mortgage future out again! For no reason. Those kids are all going to be allstars and you didn't even know how to handle them in the first place. Because Houston brought one of the pieces up immediately and hes not only phenomenal but has already paid dividend. Too bad for Cubs again. The guy you should have traded is HAPP for pitching (Does not look like a legit athlete nor star let alone allstar basic outfielder struggles to make hard play look routine!! Struggle s too much at the plate when team is depending on a hit. Has some success but never against elite pitching talent.

We'll see at the end of the season. No worries I won't need you to send me a free Lou's Malnati's delicious pizza 😋…. to a fan that you muted.

    God Bless you regardless!!

    Take that!!

Kap your a good man I really love your shows. But sometimes Your like that dude from old school. You give me the urge to go streaking with your enthusiasm but I morally can't..
