I think a lot of people understand that sometimes seeing people (or in this case, animals) you love succeed at something hits different than when you do it yourself. This is just gonna lead to more of the dumb jokes that he’s not very passionate about basketball, though.
This dude is hilarious. I still think he cares alot about basketball, it’s really not how r/nba likes to say it’s just a job to him but the public spectacle of NBA makes someone of his personality not really come out and show his real emotions too often.
With the horses, he’s in his element and away from the intense shoe gaze of the press so you see a more normal version.

I think the difference is, that at that moment in game 5 of the finals, The nuggets led the series 3-1 so it was kinda already sure they would win the title, so a whole lot less emotions were involved. But he probably was more surprised and invested in his horse.
That horse is more family than any teammate.
