D-backs vs. Pirates Game Highlights (7/27/25) | MLB Highlights
And today it’ll be Paul Skeens going for the Pirates. A 191 a that leads all of baseball, as you say, you’d like to see Paul Skeens because he continues winning streaks and he actually closed down losing streaks. You love to have a man like that in your rotation. His third career start against the D backs six and two thirds shutout innings earlier this year in Phoenix. What are the D Backs going to do? Brother Corbett Carroll at the very top? Want to focus on him a little bit against Paul Skes in his career. He’s three for six, has a double and a triple. He’s a guy we really need to get going in. This offense, struck him out with a sweeper down the middle and Carroll strikes out to start the ball game one out for gel Marte switch hitter batting left handed, misses Lowe ball for a one out walk to Marte and so a one out walk to Marte in front of Geraldo Perdomo 22 swing and a miss struck him out hasn’t struck out in two weeks and he gets him to fish for a change up down on the way two outs, Geno who’s in the clean up spot. He really does seem to be out of sorts with the trade rumors swirling around him swinging a tapper back to the mound and it will remain that way on the first inning over two strikeouts in a scoreless ###### first four Paul SKs and now the Pirates coming to bat. Zack Gallen will pitch for Arizona. Zack Allen takes the mound for the D backs of this scoreless bottom of the first set to face Spencer Horwitz, the first baseman and leadoff hitter for the Pittsburgh Pirates up the middle Perdomo behind the base and on the second base side and it’s a quick out for Gallen to third and Gino’s got, it was hit hard by Nick Gonzalez but right at Gino, it swung on and hit to center Dale Thomas back in the lineup backing up makes the catch and a very quick 123 inning for Zack Glin in the first to the second. No scored. Paul Skeen. This is Adrian del Castillo. That’s number three for Steams. I wonder if we have a big strikeout day for the Pirates are probably sapped all the confidence out of the Diamondbacks hitters here in the series mccarthy gets the start in left field. He singled in the opener here. Friday hits it deep to center o’neil Cruz trying to track it down those long strides and it’s in the north side notch banging around in the corner mccarthy flies into third. He’s got the standup. Triple boy did mccarthy rocket that one up the alley in left center. There’s the guy that’s had success against him in Pittsburgh had to bring the infield in here for James mccann. Contact is king right now. One out need to make contact. Two and two. Can you get the strikeout number four for Skeens two outs in the second inning? This is high drama stuff. This is unbelievable what you’re watching here. This Paul schemes popped it up. Paul Skeens. You’re pretty remarkable one out triple. Then the strike out a pop up. It’s nothing, nothing. Donny Kelly puts o’neil Cruz in the cleanup spot for the first time against zack Gallen as a start. And now Gallen and James mccann will have to watch Cruz because he’ll be anxious to pick up golden base number 35. Tommy Pham. He’s leading the national league in batting average since June 22nd. There he goes in a line drive base hit to left center field o’neil is going to be weighed by Rebelo. Here comes, oh my goodness, light speed. He scores from first base on a hard hit in the left center field and the Pirates lead one to zero. That’s pretty amazing to watch Cruz. He’s going around the bases. That was an extraordinary play again by Cruz picking up the ball was what made him able to score without a throw. It’s unreal. Paul Skes begins the third inning with the Pirates leading one to nothing. Tristan English will lead it off. Still looking for his first big league hit English has got it. It’s down the line. Tristan English in Pittsburgh takes the big turn. He heads for second and he’s in there with a double for his first major league hit. How about that mantlepiece right there? Paul schemes fastball wouldn’t have picked a better guy to get that hit number one against. Absolutely. That’s got to feel good for him right now. Get him over, get him in or else maybe just get him in and he goes down again, struck him out to start the game five punch outs for the third two outs. If you get the out here, you, you’re good and the 22 swinging a soft pop up just behind the infield dirt. Second baseman Gonzalez is there in the inning ends and once again, Paul Skeens stranding the man in scoring position and we go to the bottom of the third kind of flees forced Gonzalez at first with two away. Brian Reynolds wind out on the first pitch he saw to win the first swinging the ball hit to the right field corner by reynolds. It’s down for a base hit, it will stay in play touching third heading home Gonzalez, the relay is late and the ball gets away. Reynolds gets all the way to third and the Pirates add on. They’re up two, nothing here in the third. Here’s the dangerous o’neill Cruz. How nice would it be brownie to add on and ask ye shall Steve o’neill Cruz hard ground ball to right. And it is three zip bucks leadoff man is on for Arizona here in the fourth, Adrian Del Castillo coming up skins now with 312 career strikeouts swing and a miss struck him out on that inside sweeper boring underneath the hands of Del Castillo one out and the dans threatening now 2nd and 3rd 1 out here in the fourth down. Three nothing but this is their chance to get back in the ball game sweep. Oh man. Seven Ks for Skeens two outs in the fourth, the Diamondbacks have done nothing with runners in scoring position today. Thanks to Skeens swing and a miss struck him out on the changeup. Three strikeouts in the inning for Skeins. He struck out eight Diamondbacks and has blanked them through the first four innings. Two men are gone. He’s having a nice, efficient inning. Hasn’t really had one of those. Here’s the pitch swinging a ground ball hit sharply right to first and Horwitz will take it to the bag for the final out. So Skeens a 12, 3/5 Isaiah Kor FFA coming to bat for the Pirates. He had a base hit his first time around. That’s fair long throw for Suarez who makes a terrific play. Geno got him rattling the foul line way back there on the dirt and that’s out. Number one. What a nice play that was now, Skeens is at 88. This is the most pitches he’s thrown since June 19th. He’s the franchise, they’re going to do what they can to protect him. There’s one out, he strikes out Suarez. That’s number nine and very likely the last batter he will face as Don Kelly will come out and remove him. Maybe looks like he’s gonna keep a man. Look at this, listen to this crowd. He just went out and asked, how do you feel? He goes? Great. Get off my mound, swing fly ball out to left and deep but playable pham and Cruz, it’ll be Cruz near the notch to make the catch one pitch later. Skeens through six scoreless innings. What a magnificent pitcher. Pittsburgh celebrates Paul Skeens with a standing ovation. Fastball 94 acted like it was nothing on the 02 pitch he is on. Here’s Cruz hit hard past first foul. That ball was smoked past English. Rabelo gonna wave home Reynolds. The throw to the plate is not in time ahead. First time. Cruz in the third four. Nothing Pirates bring the excitement. Ladies and gentlemen, but two away now for Key Brian Hayes over three, there it is the right that’s going to be big. A couple of insurance runs. Key Brian Hayes might have just put a bow on this series and they’re strike away from a series win and their 13th shutout win of the season there it is raise the Jolly Roger Minsky strikes out three in the ninth and Schemes is 6 to 8. The Pirates earn their 13th shutout win of the season.

Lol they are deleting my comments now. Every single MLB game is controlled by betting conglomerates. It is obvious if you just take the time to watch. Learn mathematics and probabilities, and you will understand. Wake up and change the world. Stop supporting rigged sports.
It's not just Geno that seems out of sorts, it's the whole team. Hope they can turn things around!
Sorry D-Backs, but you looked like a bad little league team today. Has everyone just given up, or what? 1 run scored in 3 games against that team is ridiculous 🙄 😮
I think the D backs are upset that their teammate was traded away. They are "on strike"
Had to go see Paul pitch in person in a buccos jersey and man he’s special. It’s even more impressive in persob
Ryne Nelson takes revenge on Brent Strom and the Pirates demonstrate to the Diamondbacks that the Roger Beshens football slider is a much better option than throwing cutters.
He didn’t make it easy on himself but my God every single time he NEEDED a K he got a K.
I mean dude is actually insane. He's already guaranteed a locked positioned for a Hall of famer
Dbacks lost good
It's not fair to Paul because he's carrying his purse team on his back.
