MLB LIVE🔴 Miami Marlins vs Milwaukee Brewers – Jul 27, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

with my partner Chris Singleton. I’m John Shami. The first half of the All-Star break is behind us and partner, it’s go time in the second half. And if you want to be playing meaningful games at the end of September, you got to put your head down and grind for the next eight weeks. It’s the Miami Marlins and the Milwaukee Brewers. All right, we’ll be back to get this one started after this. So, almost ready to get underway towing the slab in today’s game. Jacob Miserowski singing he’s been outstanding and should be fun to watch. Well, when you have a guy that can limit the opponent to very little run production, you have a great chance to win a ball game when he takes the mount. He’s just having an outstanding season so far. You hope he can maintain it because if he can, he’ll be in a nice conversation at the end of the year. All right, ready to go here. Xavier Edwards gets a chance to hit here. That one the other way. And the first out of the game is an easy one. And time now for the Marlins lineup. They do a lot of things well in this offense, Ziggy. They control the strike zone. They make pitchers work hard for outs. And as a result, one of the better OBP teams in the league. Well, what I love about it is it’s an organizational philosophy. Whether you go to instructional league, whether you go to spring training, you see these guys even during batting practice when it doesn’t matter, they’re practicing that type of approach. Boo. And when you have that filtering through the organization, even when you call off a player, he steps right in and continues with the pattern that they have established at this level, which ultimately leads to a lot of success. in the air left field down the line. Nobody can get there and it’s a foul ball. You know, you translate on base percentage, it’s basically this. Teams that have a high on base percentage, they don’t make outs at a very high rate. As my buddy Joe Sheen says, OBP is life. Come on, Jacob. Strikes him out with a 100. No, that’s not the best two strike fast ball I’ve seen, but certainly got away with the location there. You know, sometimes as a hitter when you’re down in the count, you’re so focused on a pitcher painting the black and you just get a little bit locked up on something down the heart of the plate, not expecting it and it just kind of freezes you. Otto Lopez stands in with two away as he takes a ball. Brewers breaking ball misses down and away. Last couple of pitches breaking balls away. I think he’s going to have to come firm inside to be able to open up that location if he wants to go back there later in this count. Looking good. Two down. Nobody on and a strike in there. Right-hander kicks, steals very high with that one. And the count is three and one. That was absolute gas. Triple digits on the gun. It’s just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by. Right down to shoot. Now it’s full. Three and two. Two out. Base is empty. It says he held up. Now, this was a story we were paying attention to before the game. We’ve seen him give up walks in the past, and it’s an issue once again early on. Miserowski picks over Lopez back in on a dive. Let’s go, Jacob. The batter now, Kyle Sters. Fast for a strike. Next offering is in for a strike. Good zip on that fast at the bottom of the zone. If he’s there all day, it’s going to be a tough one for the hitters. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Cuts and misses. It’s a strikeout. One left for Miami. Now it’s the Brewers turn. It’s a scoreless ball game. It’s Major League Baseball on the show. Back here at American Family Field on the hill here today, Sandy Alcantara. Well, he’s been a real quality starter for his club. And coming into this one, what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the year. It seems that they have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone. So, we’ll see how right-handers do against him in this one. Bryce Terang the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one. Next offering is fouled back. Let’s go at 96. That pitch is in for a strike. on the ground right side tosses to first. One gone. Bottom half of the first. Let’s take a look at the Brewers line. A very athletic offensive group with speed spread throughout this offense. Yeah, and it’s so important that they have patient and quality at bats because the key is to get on base. If they do that, then they can create a whole lot of havoc on the base pass, get runners around to score, and then that’s going to get you some good pitches to hit as well. So, a very athletic team, and we should be in for a treat in this one. It’s not the standard approach that we see in today’s game, but it does work for them offensively. William Contrarus batting with one down, takes a strike. And that one is lifted in the air. Ramirez on the move. Dives. What a play. Hitter’s got a broken heart on that one. It had base hit written all over. Maybe extra bases. Great diving catch for the upset. Here’s Yelich at the dish. And that one is downstairs. And that’s ball one. Come on. Two outs. And there’s a curve through for a stride. And that one missing low. Two two that misses the zone. Three and two now. Full count. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. Swing and a miss and he struck him out. And it’s a three up, three down inning. Nobody left for Milwaukee. Scoreless after one. New inning getting started. And here’s the rookie center fielder, Augustine Ramirez. He’s got pop, which is a little sneaky because he’s so comfortable with taking his base hits to the opposite field, but he can jump you if you make a mistake. Miserowski back to work. backed off the plate that time. Straighten him up a little bit. Ramirez in his rookie season hitting fifth in today’s lineup. And he was born in the Dominican Republic. Next offering is down low. that one in triple digits. Looks like he’s just sizing him up there. Really good pitch to hit, but he took it all the way. Sometimes guys just want to set their timing later on in the game. That may be a pitch that he turns on. Line drive caught. That swing right there tells me he’s seeing the ball pretty well. I know it didn’t produce a hit, but he made solid contact, and that’s all you’re looking to do anytime you’re at the plate. Liam Hicks, the next up for the Marlins. And first off is fouled off. One down. Base is empty. Foul ball. Andy O2 stays alive. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. The two. That one just misses. Excellent arm action on that two strike change up. Just missed. Man, he wanted that call. And that one got a piece of him. He had him one, two, and he ends up hitting him with a pitch. Nick Forz the next up for the Marlins. And that’s in there for strike one. Hicks stands at first with one out. Next offering is in for a strike. Don’t play situation here. He’s been working up in the zone. Typically, you look for guys to get that ground ball. See if he adjusts on this next pitch. That’s a ball in the dirt. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. He’s really good hitting the baseball the other way. So, credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch. Clearly, he had him fooled. Now, here’s the Marlins DH Graham Paulie. Brewers in there for a strike at 100 miles an hour. It’s 0 and one. You got this Milwaukee fast ball is outside. Oh, he’s really working him away this at bat. Sometimes take a little bit off velocity. Try to get a roll over something on the ground. Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield. Two outs. Swing and a miss as he was out front. One ball, two strikes. Swing and a slow roller. Oh, a great flip. And that’s a nice play to end the inning. Marlins leave one. We’ll go to the bottom of the second. No score. Back here in Milwaukee, bottom half of inning number two. Now the Brewers clean up hitter, Jackson Chio. And the first pitch misses in the dirt. Swings through that one for strike one. This guy’s got such a good sinker as a hitter. You’ve got to look up in the zone. If you look down, you’re going to be chasing stuff in the dirt. And a strike right through there. That one in triple digits. That’s inside. Oh, he never moved cuz he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. To third, Senoha. Throw pulls him off the bag and he’s safe. That is the right field you Well, I definitely think the speed down the line played a factor on that throw. He had more time than he thought, but as a fielder, the speed of the game and the speed of the runner sometimes can get in your head and he just rushed it and failed to make a clean throw. So digging in Isaac Collins. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. Nothing. Nothing here in the bottom of the second. out towards right center field. Sanchez on the run and it’s caught for the out. Batting six, the first baseman, Andrew Vaughn. Andrew Vaughn now missed with a change up. One and0 man at first. One away and a base hit right there into third now. So, runners at the corners and one out. Well, a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. Runners at the corners here. One away. This is Anthony Seagler. Just missed. Well, all eyes on the double play ball in this spot. No better way to get out of this inning. Two balls, no strikes the count. Good spot for the hitter. Definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on. Look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch. Two on, one out and a foul ball. Makes the count two and one. Rolled softly, but that goes foul just off the outside edge. really good take especially with two strikes on the ground to short Lopez off balance feed. There’s one to first not in time. Great effort there. I promise you they’re guys that get a little bit faster when they can smell an RBI. That was a possible inning ending double play. great hustle and he gets rewarded with the RBI because of it. Here’s the rookie third baseman. That one finds the corner and that’s strike one. Seagler off of first with two away. He swings and fouls one off. Gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. fights that one away and the count remains 0 and two. Also really good at bat. What I like about this guy, his bat stays in the zone for a long time. Gives him the ability to foul off tough pitches. And that one hit to first and a foul ball. Five foul balls in a row. I have no idea what that feels like, but you got to love this battle. Just wondering who’s going to blink first. Hit hard on the ground to shore. That ends the frame. One run, one hit, one error, and one left. We play two full. It’s the Brewers one and the Marlins nothing. And we’re back onto the third inning. And at the plate for Miami, Javier So right through there for a strike. Come on. Headed towards the corner. Got a foul ball. The 02. And there’s a ball. I don’t think he was trying to miss by that much in an 02 count. Just tried to overthrow that pitch. swing and a popup. Terra calls it in and there’s one away. Xavier Edwards now at the plate. He’s 0 for one. Let’s go. Close one. Doesn’t get the call. And that’s ball one. Fly ball down the line and that drops foul. Come on, Milwaukee. Fast for a strike. Look pretty good as far as being in the strike zone, but I’m sure as a hitter not too good with where it was located. Very top of the strike zone. Middle away. And the next pitch is way outside. One out. Base is empty. Slice the other way. That’s a base hit. Well, I’m not saying that play was easy, but it was harder than it needed to be thanks to the bad jump. Those small moments can be costly. One gone runner at first. Jesus Sanchez will hit next. He’s 0 for one. There goes the runner. Pitch misses. And that’s a stolen base. Not even close. When your catcher is not a great thrower, you have to do a better job at controlling the running game. And that’s throwing over. That’s stepping off. Doing whatever you can to try to keep that base dealer’s rhythm off. Well, they weren’t able to do it right there. They’re going to have to make some type of adjustment. Our players are going to be running all game. man at second. Swings and misses and a count even at one. And that one missing inside. A sharp slider. Tying run in scoring position. We’re here in the top half of inning number three. Little chopper rolls foul. Comes a two- two. Full count. This one in the dirt. One out and a runner at second. fouls that off to the left and we’ll do it again the other way. Pulls it down and they’re two away. It’s never fun going back to the dugout after hitting a line drive that finds a glove. But you will get some high fives. You know, when you make great contact, you feel like you’ve done everything right. But in this game of baseball, not everything is in your control. And now the shorts stop. Otto Lopez. In the dirt. And that is ball one. Two outs and one in scoring position. And that’s fouled off. fouled off. He was late. Man on second, two down. On its way to the corner and that’s a foul ball. Strike him out. One, two now. Right through there. Got him. Make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Well, this guy competes hard. We see the emotion there. I love it. Great job of getting out of the jam. Bottom of the inning. Now it’s the short stop. Joseph, I just love watching Alcantra get ready for games. Boog. He turns into a different person. Just usually cracking jokes and having a good time. But start days are a different story. That’s when things get serious for this guy. And a strike on the outside edge. to the right side and that’s just foul down to the dirt swing and a miss in time and the drop third strike leads to the first half. Number two, second baseman Bryce. This is Bryce Terra grounded out his first time taking high in the draft. He’s had that top prospect labeled over him since he put on a professional uniform. But at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level. That’s outside and it’s one and just miss ground ball up the middle. Edwards on the run. throw to first and it beats him. What a play. Well, I’m impressed with this guy’s internal clock. He knew he had plenty of time to take that extra step, secure his grip on the baseball, and make a strong, accurate throw. Two outs, space is empty, and now it’s William Contrarus in there, and it’s 0 and one. chopped left side, but it kicks foul. Gets a piece and it stays 0 and two. battling here as he fouls it away. That one missed. One, two, and a curve misses outside. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Eighth pitch of the at bat coming up. Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. And there’s the ball. Plus good pitch there. Billy had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, you got a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. But when you see that many pitches in bat, your chances of succeeding go up. And right there we see the result. And now it’ll be Christian Yelich. He struck out swinging at his first at bat. Yeah, sharp grounder. That’s through for a base hit. So that’s two straight two out hits. Couple of singles back to back. Pretty tough for the infielders to do anything with that one. He pulled it hard into the outfield. And even when you keep it on the ground, it feels great when you hit a missile like that. And next will be the cleanup hitter, Jackson Chorio. Climb the ladder with that fast ball. That’s strike one. Out to short. Lopez whips it to first out. And that’s the inning. Brewers strand a couple, but they lead it one to nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark as we go to the top of the fourth. Now here’s the cleanup hitter for Miami, Kyle Sters. All right, Milwaukee. Pitch misses outside. Ball one. Come on. And that one fouled off. Come on. Next offering is downstairs. Two balls, one strike. Get out of here. Sliced hard but foul. Bloop behind second. Hauls it in. Three out. Now batting the center of next to hit Augustine Ramirez 0 for one so far. And there’s the strike. Man, 91 on the slider right there. That’s a hard one. That’s a lowend fast ball for some pitchers. That’s off the inside corner. One and one. Next offering misses down and away. Make it happen, Brewers. The Brewers up by a run. Top half of inning number four. Got him. He picks up his fifth strike out on the hill. Well, I’m not sure what he was waiting on right there. He got the change up and still laid on it. You rarely see that. It almost makes you think that he was trying to set the pitcher off. I mean, if you can’t catch up to the off speed stuff, there’s no way you’re going to touch a fast ball. And here’s the first baseman, Liam Hicks. Got it started a little too early. Strike one. No ball. One strike. Let’s go. 01 now. on the ground to first. It’s off his shoulder. Eats him up. Dominant performance for him today. Boo. Just two hits allowed so far. No runs across either. and he’s had an answer for just about every hitter he’s faced. So, I don’t think this hit is going to knock him off his stride too much. Nick Forez, the next up for the Marlins. Struck out swinging his first time. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. Let’s go through inside and it’s two and 0. Two balls. No strike. High in the air out to right. Collins. He’s there. He’s got it. And that’ll do it. One left for Miami and it remains one- nothing. Ready to go. Bottom four. Up now for Milwaukee. Isaac Collins. Isaac. Collins. Milwaukee. And that’s in for a strike. He’s pitching well, but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes. usually doesn’t work out for success, but you can never predict baseball. Liner base hit man aboard on the leadoff single. Really nice job of two strike hitting in that at bat. He got that front foot down and pitch recognition was on point. Pretty impressive for an 02 count. And now they’ve got some speed on first. So, we’ll see if they try to get him into motion. And now the first baseman, Andrew Vaughn, one for one with a single so far. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Well, these Brewers doing a great job, Boo, of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way. And I’m seeing very patient at bats out of them. He’s only giving up one run, but the starter pitch count is starting to get up there. And that might be the best news yet for this offense. And there’s a foul ball. You know, sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage. And that might be the case today. And a breaking ball misses outside. Inside just missed. Just doesn’t seem to want to throw him a fast ball. in the air right field and a foul ball. Collins aboard here at first with nobody out. Lays out, but he can’t squeeze it to first and he beats it. Everyone’s safe. That’s back to back singles for him. Fielder got a piece of it, but the way that thing came off the bat, no surprise at all. He couldn’t pick it cleanly. It’s a very difficult play and that swing definitely was deserving of a hit. And now the switch in catcher Anthony Seagler just missed. ball. Foul ball there and a swing and a miss there. Generally second, third time through the lineup, you want to be able to lean on those secondary pitches and command them. Looks like he’s doing a nice job of it. Next pitch is outside. Brown ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. Brown’s third headed for the plate. He’ll score. It’s an RBI single and they take a two-run lead. Comes through with the RBI. Timing on the swing was good. Able to shoot the ball up the middle. Didn’t square it up as much as he probably would have liked, but that’s a good approach paying off. First and second, no outs. Now the third baseman 10 in the dirt. blocked. First and second, no outs. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. Inside quarter for a strike and one and one. Miami’s bullpen with some action. Jansen Junk appears to be getting loose. Quantrol getting cranked up as well. That one lifted to left. Sters makes the grab. One down. The batter number three. Shortstop. Joseph Ortiz. Next for the Brewers, Joseph Ortiz. This is a guy who’s in the lineup first and foremost because of what he contributes defensively, Chris. And when you talk about preventing runs from being scored, this guy is a big contributor. I was always told it’s hard to take you off the field when you play really good defense, especially at a premier position. And that’s what he does. 02. The hitting is going to come around. He’s going to figure it out. But right now, his big asset is the way he plays the game on defense. One, two. Now, the short stop takes the ball. Got him swinging for the strike out. Tag safe and a wild pitch and both runners are in scoring position. The batter number two. Now the Marlins manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen. Sandy won’t go any further. Two-run ball game as he heads for the dugout and we’ll be back with a new pitcher. Now pitching four. So the Marlins go with a new arm. Valente Beezo. He doesn’t get a lot of strikeouts compared to other relievers. So he relies on getting that soft contact and the defense doing work behind him. They’ll have to be on their toes with him on the bump. Back to the top of the lineup. Bryce Terang up now for the Brewers. Yeah, don’t need much damage here. Just a base hit. likely will score two. Pitch is in there. Strike one. Well, I know they’ve gotten out to an early lead, but you don’t want to take these opportunities for granted with two outs. Still lock in with a quality at bat. Drive in that run. You may not have another runner in scoring position the rest of this ball game. Swing and a ball popped in the air. Lopez pulls it down and that is the inning. But they pick up one run on the RBI single and it’s two zip. Back here at American Family Field now it’s the DH Graham Paulie. Brewers. Miserowski back to work. Paulie goes 6’1, 24 years old. He’s usually a third baseman, but today he’s the designated hitter. Little bit of a day off for him instead of being at the hot corner. He can just kind of put the batting gloves on, hold the bat as he sits on the bench waiting for his time to hit in the air left side. Yell should have it and there’s one down. Well, I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning, anything after that, a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. Brewers at the plate for the second time as he takes ball one. The fish trailing by two and we’re in the top of the fifth. Slashed foul down the right side. That’ll hook off into the seats. One down, base is empty. Misses just off the outside edge. I think that was a strike. Caught a break right there. Pretty good pitch on the outside corner. Hit on the ground to the right side and it goes just fouled. sit him down and a swing and a miss. Down on strikes and that’s 6ks for him in this one. Such a challenge when a guy’s got great velocity. He’s throwing a slider over 90 mph. You want to be ready to hit that fast ball, but that late break just eats you up every time. Back to the top of the Miami order. Xavier Edwards the next up for the Marlins. One for two. Here we go. Milwaukee and foul ball. And that one missing inside. A sharp slider. and one and two. Now, this offense has just been locked down. Almost five full innings of shut out baseball. Not close with that one. And the count now even up. Soft contact in the air. Fair ball. Takes the turn. He’s digging for second. The throw in. Tag. And he’s in there. He’s in there. Well, here we are. Third time through the order. And this is where we see the OPS jump up. Manager might have to go to the bullpen a little bit sooner than he anticipated. So runner at second, two down. Jesus Sanchez digs in now, hole for two in this one. And immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. fouled off left side. Well, he got challenged with a good fast ball right there. Just couldn’t catch up. Back to the mound. It hit him. Safe at first. And now we’ll check on the right-hander. Hope he’s all right. What the auto? And now they’ll hustle out to check on him. That was quite a shot he took as you see him down on the knee. Yeah, clearly in some real pain, but he will not want to come out of this game if he doesn’t have to. It’s looking to me like he’s going to try to shake it off and continue. And here comes the Brewers manager to the mound. Pitching change coming. Jacob Miserowski gives way. And a nice effort out of him. No doubt. New arm coming on. We’ll be back for that in a moment. Now pitching for they hand the ball over to a new arm Tobias Meyers and he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year. The numbers stack up with some of the best in the game. So two outs with runners on the corners. Otto Lopez getting ready to hit. He is struck out and he is walked. Squirts away a little bit but no advance from the runners. That’s outside and now two and 0. Runners on first and third. Two away. Next offering in there for a strike. Now two and one. No need to offer that pitch until you get to two strikes. It’s just a low percentage of success when you want to try to go after that down and away pitch. The 2-1 late swing fouled all. And it remains two and two. And that just misses. 3-2, two out, runner on first. Lot of movement in the infield. Hitters got to stay focused on the pitch. Kyle Stard in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. And they’re all loaded up. Well, interesting. He went with the off speed and walked the hitter. Man, you got to challenge the guy with the fast. Two outs, bases full. Now here is Kyle Sters. Fought off foul. Two outs. Hit hard but foul off to the left. Little tardy on that fast ball. Is going to have to get it going a little quicker. Get that front foot down. That’s a strike out. Woody Keller says he went around. He’s in a tough spot. Had to make a great pitch. Did it. Got the strike out. Gets out of the jam. Clearly, he’s happy with those results. Back here in Milwaukee now. Here is William. William Contreres. And that one fouled off. Swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. No ball. Two strikes. And that’s downed away. That’s way outside. Two and two. That one missed. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. 32. Now this is in the air down the line and that will drop foul and a foul ball. He stays alive and they’ll do it again. in the air pretty deep out to center field. Ramirez under it. He makes the grab and there’s one down. Now batting left fielder Christian. Here comes Christian Yellen. And that’s a little high. Base is empty. One away. Last half of inning number five. Swinging a highfly ball out there towards left field. Two down. That’s just a really nice catch on the run right there. He saved extra bases for sure. If the pitcher’s his friend, he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch. Two down, base is empty. And now the center fielder, Jackson Chorio. That misses off the outside edge. swings here and blasts one left field in one hops off the wall. Should be extra bases and he’s got a double. Seems like he got exactly what he was looking for right there. Put a pretty good swing on that one as he drove it out to deep left. Didn’t quite have the right combination of launch angle and exit velocity to get it over the fence, but you’re never going to be disappointed with extra bases. And now it’s going to be Isaac Collins. And that’s off the outside edge. Ball one. Swing and a ground ball. And that one gets through into center field. Headed to the plate. He’ll score easily and it’s an RBI single and they’re up by three. Couldn’t have timed it up any better than that. Wasn’t able to elevate that one, but he sure hit it hard enough to get through the infield. There’s not a whole lot of time for the defenders to react and try to make a play when it’s ripped like that. So, two down. Andrew Vaughn up now for the Brewers. He’s two for two in the air out towards right center. Sanchez sizes this one up and makes the grab and the inning is over. But the RBI single pushes across a run. It’s now three nothing. Back after this on the show. And we’re back. Here’s the center fielder, Augustine Ramirez. Ramirez, Milwaukee. That one finds the zone. That’s strike one. Well, in this one, the offense has sputtered. Somebody’s got to find a way to get on, keep the line moving, and manufacture at least one run. Then maybe you get two or three. That one fouled off. Swing and a highf fly ball to left. Yell should have it and out. Number one on the grab. Just pulled off of it a little bit right there. that front shoulder coming open instead of staying closed. If he does that, he’s going to be able to go up the middle the other way with some authority instead of a fly out to left. All right, pegs in the box now. No balls in a strike. The Marlins trailing by three and we’re the top half of the sixth. Let’s do this Brewers. Late swing fouled to the left. Get line to second. Snagged on the bounce. Gets it to first. Got him. The catcher number four, Nick Forz. And now for the Marlins, Nick Forez. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. Just missed. All right, Milwaukee. The next pitch misses. Now two balls in a strike. 2-1. Fast ball is outside. Keeps the bat going with a foul ball. Here comes a 3-2. Knocks that one away. And we’ll do it again. Two down, nobody on. Cut on and missed. And it’s a strike out. And that is the inning. So no runs, no hits, no errors, and no one left. 789 two up in the home half of the inning. It’s the Brewers three and the Marlins nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. And now the catcher comes up to him. Anthony Seagler. Seagler. Pulled hard, but it’s a foul ball. Well, these Brewers putting together some really good at bats in this game. There’s been a lot to like with how they’re approaching their chances at the plate. They really made that opposing starter work in this one. ran his pitch count up and now they’ve got an opportunity to continue making things difficult on the bullpen. Durban. Here’s the third base. And no, they haven’t broken through in a big way in the runs column, but with the way they’re grinding out at bats, it definitely feels like there’s potential for more coming. And first offering is fouled off. One down. Base is empty. Inside just missed. One ball, one strike. And that is out of play. Well, you put good velocity in the head of the hitter. He’s got to get it ready early and then change speeds. Keep him off balance. That’s the goal. set down on strikes. That was pretty nasty. Joseph Ortiz now at the plate. The shorts stop. Joseph Ortiz. That one in there across the letters. Just missed. popped up foul territory behind the play and that is that gone in order are the Brewers but they lead it three nothing now pitching here comes a new arm for the Brewers. DL Hall, left-handed batter at the plate, and he’s been excellent in those matchups this year. So, this seems like a calculated move. Graham Paulie digs in now. The fish in striking distance, but have some work to do. Boo. It starts with the laid-off man. I need a good at bat out of him right here. First pitch misses. Strike one. One-1. Swings and misses. And it’s one and two. I think he was sitting off speed there. Goes down looking. Yeah, that’s a tough pitch to stay on. You don’t want to get beat inside. And as you see that pitch continue to run away from you, by the time it’s in the catcher’s mid, you think it’s a ball off the plate away. Javier Senoha the next up for the Marlins on the outside corner and it’s 0 and one. Just miss doublebarreled action in the bullpen. Abner up and loosening in the pen. Ashby the power lefty up as well. So now one and two, two, the Brewers leading by three here in the top half of inning number seven. And the one two misses to even the count. That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. Just trying to protect, keep the atbat alive. spoils a two- strike pitch. And he’ll see another strike three and that’s two in a row. Chance to strike out the side. Now you talk about the benefits, the advantages of relievers who can come in and get the swing and miss, whether it’s inherited runners or maybe a little jam that they get into themselves knowing that they can miss the bat. Tell you what, that’s huge and can change the ball game. Edwards stands in now and watches strike one. A swing. Now an appeal to first. And that’s a swing according to umpire Ed Drummond. Fans another. And that’s three straight strikeouts. Impeccable command in that one. Three batters, three strikeouts. That’s electric stuff out there on the mound. Now pitching forward. We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh. Number 66. Pretty tight game. So they’re looking for quality pitches out of him right here. Got to do his best to keep the score right where it is. Back to the top of the order. Here’s the leadoff man for the Brewers, Bryce Terang. 0 for three in this one. A swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. No balls, one strike. Let’s go. Come on. And ball one. Brewers. That clips the zone. And that is strike two. All sliders so far in this at bat to get ahead in the count and clearly shows there was a game plan in mind for how to attack him in the box. Slider got him for strike three. Nice. Doubled up with the slider for that punch out. one before just caught the zone. So, as a hitter, you have to protect right there. Great pitch to just expand a little bit more. He got that chase he was looking for. That right there is good pitching. Contras batting with one down, takes the strike. Well, he had a pretty good look at that pitch and not sure exactly what tied him up there. Couldn’t pull the trigger and perhaps the best pitch he’ll see in this at bat to hit. Next offering is outside. Two balls, one strike. And it’s fouled away. Base is empty. One away here in the bottom of the seventh. Swings and blasts one deep to left center. Did one hops off the wall. Should be extra bases into second. and he’s got a double. Everything came together for him. That’s a good sound coming off the bad man. And as he connected out front and ripped it into the outfield. That’s one of those swings where you just don’t even feel the ball hit the barrel. That’s a pure stroke. One out, runner at second. Christian Yelich up now for the Brewers. That’s in there. 0 and one. lined into left center. Base hit coming home. He’ll score. It’s an RBI single and they’re up by four. Picks himself up an RBI. Showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way. Didn’t get jumpy. didn’t try to pull the ball. He let it get deep. Took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit. And next will be the cleanup hitter, Jackson Chorio. That one finds the zone. Strike one. 01. Step off throw to first. Yell dives back in. Yell the runner at first with one gone in the inning. And that’s ripped into left. Base hit. Lead runner holds at second base. First and second with one down. Right number six, Isaac. Two on, one out. Isaac Collins up now for the Brewers. RBI knock for him last time. Now a chance to drive in another run. That one fouled hard. the other way. Two on, one out. And that one missing inside. A sharp slider. And there’s a hit. Yell flies around third. Here’s the throw to the plate. It’s offline. The run comes in and the lead is up to five. That’s three singles in a row. I don’t know how he’s able to shoot that pitch the other way and still put something on it. That pitch was inside and he let it get really deep. So, pretty incredible hands to fight it off and still get good wood on it. Now, the Marlins manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen. Number 66 will depart and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base. Back with a new pitcher after this. Now pitching for new pitcher for the Marlins, Cal Quantro. Well, they need someone to stop the bleed and keep the score right where it is. Seems like a tough task today with the way this lineup is swinging. It runners at the corners here. One away. Andrew Vaughn up now for the Brewers. That’s in there. 0 and one. Rudders are at the corners. One away. Ground ball left side and that’s just fouled. Grounder off the pitcher. gets it there in time though and on the outer run scores and now they’ll hustle out to check on him. That was quite a shot he took as you see him down on the knee. Yeah, clearly in some real pain but he will not want to come out of this game if he doesn’t have to. It’s looking to me like he’s going to try to shake it off and continue. Here’s the catcher, Anthony Seagler. And that drops in for a strike. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Jansen Junk up and throwing man at second. Swings through that one. 02 pitches in the dirt and a count one and two. Swing and a ground ball out to short. Sends it to first. That ends the inning and they limit the damage. Three runs on, four hits, no errors, and one left on. Eighth inning coming up. It’s the Brewers six and the Marlins nothing. This game’s a bit of a blowout, Sigy. Let’s talk about something random. Let’s do it. All right, Syi, we’ve been in all the press boxes. You got best press box food. Uh, I say press box food because of the ice cream. We have Philadelphia. Shout out to our guy Frank. Yes. Uh New York for me is pretty good. Yankees. Yeah. Solid. Yeah. As far as ballpark food, one of my favorite places is San Francisco. Garlic fries. Yo, garlic fries. And you got the lobster roll out there in the outfield if you want to make the walk all the way out there. It’s great though broadcasting a game with that zoo breath where you could just I mean absolutely levitate some people with your with your breath. And a foul ball. What do we got? The crab fries in Philadelphia. Is that right? Yep. And then it’s been a long time for me. Boos Barbecue at Oral Park. I knew you’d go there. That’s right. Yeah. Anyway, you can work in your name, huh? That’s right. That’s inside. And now it’s three and two. and a base hit. And the leadoff man aboard showed a lot of fight with two strikes in that AB. Everything was on time and fluid in that swing. Got a pitch he could get the barrel on and lined it into center for the knock. Those always feel good. So up next, Otto Lopez. And a fast ball misses outside for a ball. And that’s ball one. Runner at first with no outs here. If you’re going to get something going, this is the time to do it. You get the leadoff man on. Everybody’s got to look over the shoulder and say, “I’m just gonna keep the line moving.” Don’t try to do too much. That one misses. And that’s ball two. Full count. And ball four, two aboard. A good day for the on base percentage right there. Walk number three. And the freebacks keep on coming. You’re down with OBP booth. Kyle Sters the next up for the Marlins. Three pitch strikeout last time up. Got to put up more of a fight in this one. That one pushed foul out of play off to the left. Next offering in there for a strike. 0 and two outside with a breaking ball. All right, Brewers. Ground ball right side. Could be two. Here’s Ortiz for one onto first in time. Double play. They made that double play look so easy, but it was far from routine. That’s the one thing about big leaguers. They make tough plays look simple. So, two down now. And here is Augustine Ramirez. And first offering is fouled off. Two outs. Swing and a miss. No ball. Two strikes. Here we go. Foul ball still 0 and two. One, two. In the dirt, but kept close and an excellent job keeping it right there. Swing and a miss. struck him out. He’s notched four strikeouts now. Marlins leave one. Still up against a 6 nothing deficit. Back here in Milwaukee. Bottom of the eighth. Down to third base. Number 21, Quantro in his sixth season, 30 years old now, a former first round pick back in 2016. Lopez tosses across the first leadoff man is out here in the number three shortstop Joseph Ortiz. Joseph Ortiz up now for the Brewers. You got this Milwaukee check swing. He went too far and it’s a strike. No balls. One strike. Pop foul out of play off to the right. The Brewers up big in this one here in the bottom half of the eighth inning. Swing and a miss and he got him. Now two out. third time he struck out in this one and definitely an individual performance you want a flush. He just hasn’t looked very comfortable up there. Just one of those days. But when you’re still winning the ball game, at least you can focus on doing your part to maintain that lead and getting that W. And there’s a rocket into the outfield. Now he’ll turn for second. The throw in and that’s a double. Oh, no waiting around right there. He was ready to swing it on the first pitch. Nice job of driving that pitch the other way on a line. You know, hitters, they take so many reps in the cages working on going to the opposite field and it doesn’t always translate into the game, but right there it did. And he did it perfectly. Man in scoring position with two away. Now the number two hitter, William Contrarus, just missed. Terra stands at second with two gone. That one finds a corner and it’s one and one. Swanging a ground ball base hit right field. Coming home. Here’s the throw to the plate. Save it home and the runner scores from second. It’s seven to nothing. Runner at first with two away. Christian Yelich up now for the Brewers. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. outside. When the skipper calls down to the bullpen, he’s expecting the guy to come in and get outs. So far, not getting what he was hoping for. And that one’s a little bit low. And that’s ball three. Foul ball. So now two on and two outs. Not what he wanted to do right there, Boo. That keeps this inning alive. puts a runner in the scoring position and a chance for this offense to add on to their lead. First and second, two down. And now the center fielder, Jackson Chorio. That one finds the corner. And that’s strike one. On the ground to third, Senoha. That ends the inning and stops things from getting out of hand. Two men left stranded, but they do push across one. Ninth inning coming up. It’s the Brewers seven and the Marlins nothing. Now pitching. We’re back. It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Jared Kanigar. He’s having a ton of success facing left-handed hitters this season. So, this seems like a smart move to turn to him with a lefty at the plate. And at the plate for Miami, Liam Hick. First baseman number 34, Liam Hicks. First offering misses badly for ball one. Inside just missed. Yep. In this situation, you expect the batters to be a little more patient, possibly take until they get a strike. With that, you don’t want to miss your opportunity to get ahead early in the count. He didn’t right there. That one the other way. Ortiz tosses to first. Now, one gone in the ninth. The catcher number three, Nick Forz. And here’s the catcher, Nick Forez, 0 for three with two strikeouts and a fly out. First pitch and he just misses. Activity in the bullpen. Abner, the right-handed sinker baller. He looks to be readying himself. Prester also throwing. The Marlins with a lot of ground to make up here at the top of the ninth. Next offering upstairs and another ball. Three balls. No strike. Yeah, the three 0 finds the zone. Really good cutter that he’s able to front door and back door. That pitch is devastating. Yeah, there’s ball four. Oh, that’s a really good take right there. And that’s just mentally prepared knowing that if it’s not on a TE, you’re going to take that pitch because you still have one more strike to work with. Not easy to lay off, but he did an excellent job in that plate appearance. Paul in the box now. No balls in a strike. Just missed. The 1-1 is fouled off. on the ground and it goes just fouled and a one-two again. Good job to fight that one off. And now the count is even. Two balls, two strikes. Swing and a miss for the strike out. And they’re down to their last out. Boi just ran out of patience there. He took a couple of pitches to even that count up at two balls and two strikes, but that time chased outside the zone. So the next to hit, takes ball one, one ball, no strike. Next pitch misses way outside. in the dirt. There’s a strike and a count is three and one. Forz the runner at first with two gone. Line drive Ortiz and that is the ball game. We saw complete domination in this one. The offense exploded for a blowout and then the pitching staff nails locked down the opponent. This team did everything right today. This one ends 7 nothing for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shami saying so long. What the heat?
