MLB LIVE🔴 Texas Rangers vs Los Angeles Angels – Jul 28, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
Alongside Chris Singleton, I’m John Shampi. The first half of the All-Star break is behind us and partner, it’s go time in the second half. And if you want to be playing meaningful games at the end of September, you got to put your head down and grind for the next eight weeks. It’s the Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels. All right, we’ll be back to get this one started after this. So, almost ready to get underway and towing the slab. Jake Eer, well, he’s been a real quality starter for his club. And coming into this one, what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the year. It seems that they have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone. So, we’ll see how right-handers do against him in this one. Okay, all set to go. And now Michael Helman. And that one a little below the knees and we’re underway. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. Now two and0. Well, second pitch of this game and already getting squeezed a little bit. Next offering way off the plate. That one misses. So, a lead off walk. He did not take the bat off his shoulder the entire bat. Now it’s Cory Seager. I’m liking what I’ve seen from him at the dish lately, hitting better than 350 this month. And immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. Step off, throw to first. Helman dives back in safely. Here we go. And now the count is even. The shorts stop takes a ball. Nobody out. Runner at first. That one misses. Three balls, two strikes. So, here we go. Base runner at first. Could be running on the pitch. He’s got good enough speed to steal the bag to get in scoring position. Even if it’s a swing and miss at the plate. Keeps the bat going with a foul ball. fouled off again and it remains three and two. Eighth pitch of the at coming up. Good job to fight that one off. Strike him out on the ground. A second. Might be two. Neto for one on the first double play. They made that double play look so easy, but it was far from routine. That’s the one thing about big leaguers. They make tough plays look simple. Here is Marcus Sime inside. Just missed. Let’s go. Paul, that’s off the plate. Check swing and he went and it’s two and one. One strike. Pop foul out of play off to the right. That one to first. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. Rangers go down quickly there. Now the Angels will get their first crack at it. No score. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. Back here at Angel Stadium and today on the hill, Patrick Corbin and Chris pitching on the road has not been particularly kind to him. Yeah. And you don’t want to be too quick to say that he can’t pitch on the road. Sometimes, you know, it’s just a matter of luck. It’s not having a field difference between the bullpin mound to the mound out there on the playing field. Don’t know what it is, but I know this. He’s got good enough stuff to overcome and get it done on the road as well as at home. So, we’ll see what he’s able to do in this one. Zack Neto, the leadoff batter, as he looks at ball one. Foul ball there. The wind and the pitch. There’s the strike. One ball, two strikes. And that one missing inside. A sharp slider. That’s a really good take right there. Slider down and in. Very difficult to get on the same plane and do anything with. And the slider just misses. Really good take especially with two strikes. And a base hit up the middle. Man aboard on the leadoff single. Everything came together for him. Just kept it simple. Played Pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from. And there was just no one there to knock it down. Nolan Showell the next to hit for the Angels. That one finds the zone. Strike one. Here comes the pitch. There goes the runner from first. There’s a ball throw to second and he’s safe. I think that steel kind of sets the tone, not just for this game, but for the entire series. First inning, game one. So, that kind of tells me they’re going to be aggressive on offense and try to force the issue whenever they can. No outs. Runner on second. Close one. Doesn’t get the call. Two and one. Good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees. And doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone. Fouls one off. Two and two. Needto stands at second with no outs. You can do it, Angels. Spoils that one and it remains two and two. Angels. Swing and a fly ball in the air out towards right center field. Garcia makes the play. Runner tags at second and he makes it up to third with one away. Batting third designated hitter. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup. Sing this righty heavy lineup must be licking their chops with a lefty on the mound. Well, to me, Boo, it shows the managers trying to set these players up to have a big game. Facing an opposite-handed pitcher, you only get a fraction of a second longer to see the ball and decide to swing. But that could be the difference between a line drive and a swinging strike. Fouled off down the right side. Here we go. Here’s a highf fly ball out to center and makes the grab. Runner tags for home. Run scores easily and it’s one- nothing. Well, he’s always capable of losing one over the fence. He might have just missed it right there, but a good job driving that run from third. So in now for the Angels, Taylor Ward and Sydney, we already know he’s going to finish the season with a new career high in home runs and first offering is fouled off. He didn’t want to give up that run, but he did. Got the fly ball sack fly out. Now it’s time to attack these other guys. Get your team back in the dugout. Out to short. Seager. Throws across the diamond. Inning over. One run, one hit, no errors, no one left. Second inning coming up from Anaheim. It’s the Angels one and the Rangers nothing. Back in Anaheim. Top of the second. Now it’s the right fielder Adoleis Garcia. Let’s go. Eater back to work and a breaking ball drops in for a strike. Man, I mean nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually was. Just missed. Carl Dixon doing the umpiring behind the plate. And Boo, I’m not sure if it’s because he sort of sets up higher than most, but one thing to be aware of with Dixon is the high strike. Not usually a big deal because most players are swinging at pitches up there, but we may see some surprise looks from hitters from time to time because that’s just so unusual. Taylor makes the grab. One down. Fifth, third baseman, Josh Young. Here’s Josh Young. A little bit high. Ball one. One out. Base is empty. Swing and a miss. That’s strike one. One ball, one strike. Two balls, one strike. And there’s a ball. And it stays fair. But when you fall behind in the count, you’ve got to come into the zone and then guys have a better chance of hitting the ball hard like he did right there. One down. So next to hit for Texas, Wyatt Langford, third baseman playing on the edge of the grass looking for the sack bunt and that misses. And that’s ball one. Two and0 man at first. One away. Now a screamer into the outfield. Adele makes the grab and there’s two gone. It was all over that fast ball right there. I tell you what, if he gets under it just by a fraction of an inch or a little bit more, that’s way back. Now, here is Jonah. And that one is lifted in the air, reaching for it, makes the catch. One left for Texas. They’re down one- nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. Bottom of the second. So in for the Angels, Joe Adell. Adele. And that one upstairs. Ball one. He really committed to that fast ball up at the top of the zone. He knows that if he makes a mistake in the zone, it gets hit hard by a power guy like this. That’s a nice miss right there. And he swings and lifts one to deep center field. Helman going back on this one on the warning track and hauls it in. Batting six right fielder Jorge Jorge up at the plate. That one finds the zone. That’s strike one. And that’s outside. Swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. Good late sink on that fast ball out of the hand. Looks so good. And then by the time he gets in the hitting zone, hard to get the barrel to it. Pitch misses and it’s two and two. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Couldn’t catch up to the heater. Good late cut for the strike out there. That thing really got in on him. And you know, the cutter isn’t really a huge swing and miss pitch most of the time because it’s not really meant to move a whole lot. You’re just trying to miss the big part of the barrel and maybe get some weak contact. But that one right there did a whole lot more than that. That was a really good pitch. Two down. Slice down the right side. The 1-1 is fouled off the middle. Seager fires over to first and that is the inning. Angels go down one, two, three, but they still lead it one- nothing. On to the third inning. Now it’s the rookie DH Cody Freeman. Cody Freeman. Freeman in the eighth spot in today’s lineup. And he was drafted in the fourth round back in 2019. Tapped at the plate, but it’s a foul ball. Outside low now. One and two. Swings here and drives one well left field way back and you can forget it. That one felt good. His first homer of the year. And we’re level. It’s 1-1. He put a charge into that one. That was a lightning swing right there. No doubt about it. That’s exactly the pitch he was looking for. Crushes it and hits it out of the ballpark. So, it’s all tied up thanks to the home run. Ezekiel Duran stepping in for the Rangers. Hard grounder into the outfield for a knock. And that turns the lineup over. Well, a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. So, the lineup flips over and now the center fielder, Michael Helman, walked his first time trying to move him over here. Neto for one, not in time to first. It’s a fieldielder’s choice. Well, that was going to be a really tough one to turn two on. So, a nice job to get the out at second right there. Hold on to the baseball. Shortstop clearly paid the price, but that kind of comes with the territory. Here comes Cory Seager. 0 for one so far. Swing and a pop off in foul ground. has room and he makes the catch. Now batting second base Marcus Simeon. Now it’s Marcus Simeon grounded out his first time up. Swing and a miss. Oh, and he lost the handle on that one. Well, we talk about throwing the hands, but not the bat, man. You want to hold on to that thing. And you can see his teammates over there. If he doesn’t come through with the knock, he’s going to get some business when he goes back to the dugout. Oh, that pitch is out. Two gone, but the go-ahead run is at first. We’re here in the top half of inning number three. Checks over to first. Back safely. There’s a 1-1. That one is upstairs. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. Three and one now. Chris, with that distraction and a speedy guy at first, he’s in a favorable hitter count. Well, if nothing else, I mean, this is a great spot for a hitter to be in. So, now two on and two outs. Maybe a little loss of focus on the mound right there. Pretty much gifted him first base with a quick free pass. Garcia, first and second, two outs. And now Adoleis Garcia. He’s 0 for one. Swaying in a miss. And that’s strike one. 01’s the count to short. Needto fires across the diamond and Garcia is out. That ends the inning and they limit the damage. Solo homer for the Rangers ties it. All even now at 1-1. And we’re back ready to go for the last half of the inning. So in for the Angels, Luis Rango. Luis Rango. First pitch misses. He’s a master at hitting fast balls. You need to be careful with location if you’re going to throw them. Close but called the ball. Two and O. Fly ball to right. Garcia hauls it in for the out. And there’s one down. Batting night. Third base. Here comes Chris Taylor. Taylor and there’s a foul ball. Next offering is fouled back. Come on, Angel. Let’s go. Ground ball right side. Simeon handles, throws to first. Taylor out on the play. Now batting shortstop. Zack Netto. Zack Neto the next to hit for the Angels. One for one with a single and a run scored so far. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Counts one. Two out. Space is empty. And another ball. No strike. There’s the strike. And that one is downstairs. And the count is three and one. Downstairs. And that’s ball four. One of the things about that two out walk, the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead. So a ball down the line or into the gap will produce a two out RBI. And those are the best. That is if you are the offensive side of it. Show stands in now. Looks at that one inside. That’s in there. Strike one. The one-1 is fouled off. cut on and missed. And it’s a strike out. And that is the inning. So it’s no runs on no hits, no errors, and one left. Three innings complete. All tied 1-1. Back here at Angel Stadium, John Shami with Chris Singleton and set to lead off the fourth, Josh Young. Let’s go. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. Well, these Rangers doing a great job, Boo, of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way. And I’m seeing very patient at bats out of him. He’s only giving up one run, but the starter’s pitch count is starting to get up there. And that might be the best news yet for this offense. Swing and a miss. Strike one. You know, sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage. And that might be the case today. Next offering misses and the count is three and one. Swaging a drive deep left field way back there and it’s out of here into the home bullpen for a homer and they jump ahead in the fourth. It’s 2-1. Knew what pitch he wanted to hit. Spent on some other pitches in this at bat. Was very patient and it paid off. So digging in Wyatt Langford and that one a little bit high. That just misses and now 2 and 0. Eater maybe a little less aggressive on the mound right now after that home run. Chris, yeah, it seems that way. You know, pitchers, they can come out, feel good, but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit and they start trying to throw instead of pitch. They’re not trusting their stuff. Solair makes the grab. One away. It’s a good recovery though after giving up the home run, not allowing it to stay in the head, but going to work at the next hitter. And a tough one at that. Time takes a ball as he stands in for the second time. That one ripped but foul. Well, he’s been good for the most part. Is it going to take someone going out to the mound to maybe refocus him a bit? They’re all partner. Every pitcher is a little different. I I liken it to you. Sometimes you come in and you’re not as focused and I kind of do what it takes to get you on track and then you have a great show. Uh so perhaps it’s the same with him. Nobody really wants their rhythm broken off, but sometimes they need a little pickme up. They got it for out number two. Now batting the designated hitter, Cody Freeman. Two down, base is empty. Cody Freeman stepping in for the Rangers. He’s already homerred in this game. And a first pitch fast is in for a strike. He’s pitching well, but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes. Usually doesn’t work out for success, but he can never predict baseball. Swing to him. More and more guys are looking to slum regardless of the count and this situation will keep a close eye on his approach. got him swinging. Rangers pick up a run here on the solo home run. And this is now a 2-1 ball game. Major League Baseball is on the show. Bottom four. And now the designated hitter for the Angels, Mike Trout. Mike Trout. That one finds the zone and that is strike one. Swanging a ball popped in the air out to shallow center. Simeon pulls it in and there’s one away. Now batting left fielder Taylor. Here’s the left fielder Taylor Ward 0 for one. grounded out in his first at bat. That one close. Rule the ball. One and0. Home team down a run. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth out in front and foul to the left side. Ball two. way high with that one. And now three balls and a strike. And that’s ball four. Tried another slider, but it missed the plate. I don’t think he really wanted to pitch to him right there. Anyhow, now batting. Here’s Joe Adel. Joe Adele. First offering and it just misses. And that one cutting but missing down low. And there’s a ball. Jorge Solair in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here and fouled off. Ward over at first with one away on this count. Runner not known for his speed, but I think you got to put him in motion. Try to avoid a double play here. Boo. Foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. gets a piece and stays alive. Goes down looking. Now batting. And next for the Angels, Jorge Solair. And a foul ball. Just missed. Pitch misses and a count. Two and one. Next offering is foul back. Come on, Angels. Let’s go. way high. 3-2, two out, runner on first. Lot of movement in the infield. Hitters got to stay focused on the pitch. Travis Dardo in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. In the air, left side and the inning is over. Angels leave one and our score remains 2-1. Ready now for the fifth inning. Now Ezekiel Durant. Ezekiel Duran. Eer back to work. Late swing fouled off. That one found hard the other way. That one misses and it’s one and two. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Pretty simple sequence right there, but very well executed. Two off speed pitches away. Get some train to look out over the plate. Then they ran a good fast ball inside and it was just too much to catch up to. Nice job of working in and out and upsetting that timing at the plate. So, the Rangers batting order turns over and now it’s the Rangers leadoff hitter, Michael Helman. And that’s called the inside edge. And it’s one and0. Base is empty, one away. And we’re in the top of the fifth. Swanging a miss as he was out front that time. dives, but it kicks off his glove. Still able to get it there in time. So, a tough play, but they do get out number two. This is what it’s all about on that right side of the diamond when you’ve got the first baseman involved and the pitcher as well. First baseman does a great job. Knocks the ball down, gets away from a little bit, doesn’t panic. The pitcher’s exactly where he’s supposed to be. Nice feed and a nice play for the out. Two out, space is empty. Next up for Texas, Cory Seager, and first offering is fouled off. The shorts stop takes a ball. evidently not too impressed with that call and it feels like he got squeezed on the outside corner. So, he’s making his case. You got to be careful to pick your spots in terms of showing your frustration with the umpire and he felt this was his time. Swing and a ball popped up. Shadow under it. Hauls it into the inning. One, two, three. The Rangers. They lead it 2-1. back in Anaheim. And here’s the catcher, Travis Dardo. Catcher, Travis Darno. Ball one there. popped up to the left into foul ground. Catcher tosses the mask, settles under it, and a quick out number one. Now batting, second baseman, Luis Ranifo. Luis Reano, the next to hit for the Angels. Fly to right, his first time. in there for strike one. Well, a good slider from an opposite-handed pitcher has to stay in that tunnel just a little bit longer. Otherwise, recognition can cause you to barrel it up. And right there, the hitter clearly couldn’t do anything with it. Grounds one to short. Lays out, but he can’t squeeze it. No throw. And they don’t get an out on the play. back against the wall with two strikes but found a way. He got that front foot down and pitch recognition was on point. Pretty impressive for an 02 count. Chris Taylor now and that’s a little bit high. And that’s ball one. Ranifo leads off first with one away. on the ground. Two ball. Quick feed to second for one. Return throw to first. Got him. Double play. And that’ll do it. One hit in the inning, but no one left. Five innings complete. It’s the Rangers two and the Angels one. New pitcher on now, Jose Soraniano. Pretty tight game, so they’re looking for quality pitches out of him right here. Got to do his best to keep the score right where it is. Joseo. Well, one game. Marcus Simeon stepping in for the Rangers. Let’s go Soriano 26 years old and he was born in the Dominican Republic. Activity in the bullpen. Sam Bachmann appears to be getting ready and I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves. This would be his major league debut. That catches the corner. fights it off. He’ll see another. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Foul ball still 0 and two. That’s a little bit low. In the dirt. Two balls, two strikes. That’s down and in. Foul ball and it remains a full count. That one the other way. Pulls it in. One away. And now batting right fielder Adis Garcia. And next will be the cleanup hitter Adoleis Garcia. 0 for two in this one. First pitch misses. And a foul ball. One down. Base is empty. Outside and a count. Two and one. got it. That’s out number two. Here’s the third base, Josh Young. He’s already homered here in this one. just missed. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. And that one is inside. Two down, nobody on. And we’re the top half of the sixth. And it’s fouled away. Not close with that one. Three and one. Swing and a ball ripped out towards right center field. That’ll touch down for a hit. Makes the turn and heads for second. pulls in with a double. Third hit for him today. And his hot hitting continues. They kept him in the yard that time, but all he’s doing now is passing the baton. And everything seems to get started around this guy. So, runner at second, two down. Wyatt Langford stepping in for the Rangers. And there’s a breaking ball that drops in there. Runner at second. Two down. Yeah. Big swing and a miss. It might be time to cheroke up a little bit. Get that front foot down early. Maybe even just spread out. He’s really late right now. struck him out swinging. Slider got him for strike three. So, no runs here in a base hit, no errors and one left. Top of the order, do up in the home half of the six. It’s the Rangers two and the Angels one. And welcome back to the ballpark at the plate. Zack Neto, Zack Neto. Ripped to short tosses across to first. One away. Bottom of the six. Now batting first baseman Nolan. And now the first baseman Nolan Shanuel. You know, this is kind of a tough matchup as a left-handed hitter facing a left-handed pitcher. What you tell yourself is I want to stay square to the plate. Try to hit the ball over the shorts stop’s head right through there for a strike. Man at first with one gone. Mike Trout the next to hit for the Angels. in there at the knees. It’s 0 and one. He’s pitching well, but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes. Usually doesn’t work out for success, but you can never predict baseball. They tried to get him to chase on a slider down and away. Way to lay off that pitch down. edge of the zone. Call the strike. One and two. All sliders so far in this at bat to get ahead in the count and clearly shows there was a game plan in mind for how to attack him in the box. Swings and misses. Struck him out. Taylor W now at the plate. Outfield playing very deep, not wanting anything over their heads. swing and a highf fly ball out towards right field and that will end the inning. Angels strand one and they trail it here two to one. Welcome back. We’re in the seventh. We have a new pitcher on the mound. Sam Bachmann. Now pitching for the Angels. Number 40, Sam Bachman. Well, one run game. And now here is Jonah. Little Chopper rolls foul. Well, these Rangers digging into their numbers have to be happy with the swings they’re taking. We’ve already seen eight line drives from there, man. It’s always a good sign when the ball is jumping off your back. And that’s what this offense has been doing so far today. And that one missing inside. A sharp slider. Good eye in that spot. Sometimes you got to fight to get back into an at bat. Take some tough pitches. Even out the count. Highf fly ball out towards left field. way back there. See you later. He sends one out the opposite way. His ninth homer of the year. And they tack on to their lead. It’s 3-1. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself at bat after at bat. He’s that confident. Such an incredible swing right there on that breaking ball away. He did an incredible job of keeping the hands back, letting it travel, and boy, he just hammered that, recognized the break, and man, this guy kept his front foot down. Weight didn’t transfer until the exact time. An excellent backspin to carry it over the fence. And that drops in for a strike. Nobody on, nobody out with a run in here in the top half of inning number seven. And that skips into ball. Here’s a one-two headed towards the corner. Soair running hard to get it. tries to make the play, but it’s fouled. That one misses. The countdown two and two. The only adjustment he needs to make is his target. If you aim at the outside corner, that slider’s going to end up way off the plate. Perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it. Good battle here. About to be the eighth pitch of the bat. swing and a miss and he’s down on strikes and that’s the first out. Nice recovery after giving up the home run. Oh, you got to be pretty quick with the bat speed these days. So many guys throwing in the upper 90s and you see the velocity on that one. Just tough to catch up to. I mean, guys are coming in and they’re going max effort. They’re not looking to go a long distance. They want to get as many strikeouts as they possibly can. Next to hit, Ezekiel Durant. No trouble here. puts it away for the out. That’s out number two. Now batting the center fielder, Michael. Two down, base is empty. Up next for the Rangers, Michael Helman. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Comebacker to the mound. Slings to first. Third out. Texas extends the lead with the solo shot. It’s now a 3-1 ball game. You’re dialed into the show. And we’re back. Set for the last half of the seventh. So in for the Angels, Joe Adell. right through there for a strike. You know, these Angels need to bring up the quality of their bats and specifically their swings. They’re trying to find ways to drive the ball with some authority, but it’s just not happening for them so far. Zero extra base hits in the game. So, it’s been tough for him to get anything going. Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. Sometimes you have to keep chipping away until you break through. But it’s a lot easier to put runs on the board when you have guys in scoring position because they put themselves there. Now a fly ball to right center. Helman makes the move towards the gap. Nice grab on the run. Going up, one down. Nothing instills more confidence in a team than a center fielder who makes a great play like that on the run. They can feed off the energy he brings just from his playmaking abilities. Manager out of the dugout now and it looks like we’ll see a change on the mound. Patrick Corbin won’t go any further. He exits with the lead and gave them a really nice performance. New pitcher on the bump when we get back. New arm out of the bullpen, Cole Wind. He’s thrown the ball very well overall this season. He’s been really tough to get to. You see that erra and that’s where you love to be. And the batter now, Jorge Solair. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. And another ball. Base is empty. One away here. The bottom of the seven. A swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. It’s been tough for the offense so far, but you can’t get frustrated. You got to find a way to shake it off. Go up there and relax. That’s the only way you’re going to be able to put runs up on the board. Next pitch. Not close. Up high. late that time and it’s strike two. Threw that fast ball right by him. Slightly elevated. That’s a confidence boost for this guy out there on the mound. See if he continues to climb the ladder. Got him swinging. Two out. Oh, that splitter out of the hand. It just sort of jumps on you. And your interpretation is here comes a fast ball again. Well, it never really reaches because the bottom falls out of it and you swing over the top. And that’s why they call it a split finger fast ball because it looks like a four seamer. Here is Dardo. Pitch misses. Ball one. Ball one. No strike. swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. No, this manager knows that his players are just trying to do too much. Everybody needs to just take a deep breath, relax, and let it naturally happen. ball to score. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. Next pitch misses inside. Counts full. Three and two. Wow. This guy’s really battling up there as if his run is the game-winning run. I love his tenacity. Two outs. The right-hander gives up the two out walk and that’ll bring the tying run to the plate. One of the things about that two out walk, the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead. So ball down the line or into the gap will produce a two out RBI. And those are the best. That is if you are the offensive side of it. Got it started a little too early. Strike one. Some activity in the bullpen for Texas. Paul Sadoho, the closer of the staff, is getting loose to finish this one off. Milner, a left-hander, also throwing. Tying run at the plate. Little bit low. Ball one. Wait for your pitch. Swinging a foul back. That’s out of play. The tying run at the plate. Ground ball right side. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. So a job well done from the Rangers bullpen that time. Eighth inning coming up. It’s the Rangers three and the Angels won. Now pitching for welcome back and a new arm on the mound to start the day. Conor Brogden and as relievers go, he’s not a big strikeout guy. Tries to force weak contact. So command and execution are huge for him. Here’s Cory Seager for three in this one. Cory Seager. Come on. Misses just off the outside edge. I think that was a strike. The one with a short stop takes the ball. That one’s spoiled. And the count now two and one. Fouled off left side. Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming. Here’s a swing and a line drive. And that’s a base hit into right field. And a good start to the inning. Got to love the resiliency showed in that at bat. Battling with two strikes. Solid swing from start to end. on time with everything. Really good balance, nice extension, and he met it out front for the line drive knock. So, a man aboard. Here’s the second base, Marcus Simeon. Runner takes off. Swinging a foul straight back. Seager aboard here at first with nobody out. Ground ball could be two. Fired to second and they get him easily at first. It’s a double play. Oh man, what a smooth double play. That was a thing of beauty from start to finish. And now the right fielder, Adoleis Garcia. And that one in the air center field. Adele makes the grab. And that is that one hit in the inning, but nothing more than that. Last half of the eighth coming up, it’s the Rangers three and the Angels won. Now pitching for Texas. Now, new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth, Hobie Milner. And he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year. The numbers stack up with some of the best in the game. Here comes Chris Taylor. Leading off for the third base Chris Taylor. Highf fly ball shallow right field. Garcia heads after it. He’s got it. And there’s one away. That’s just a really nice catch on the run right there. He saved extra bases for sure. If the pitcher’s his friend, he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch. Needto the next to hit takes outside and that one fouled off. Lefty continues to work, but the closer getting loose in the bullpen. Line drive caught. Man, that could have been a big swing in this game. Just unlucky in a really unfortunate time right there. Nolan Shadowwell will hit next. One for three. And that’s in there for strike one. Two down, nobody on here. The bottom half of the eighth inning. Next offering is fouled back. Looking very settled on the mound here in the eighth. One more out. They’ll probably hand it off to their closer for the ninth with at least a two-run lead. Next offering is down low. and delivers outside. Two strikes. Short hop liner. Handled it short. Fires over to first. An acrobatic play to end the inning. Pure athleticism on that one. in the air, legs split a bit and fires across the diamond. He’s going to get a lot of high fives in the dugout. Welcome back. And here comes the closer, Kennley Jansen. And he’s been racking up strikeouts at a high rate this year. Typically at least one an inning, so he’ll be tough to get to. Now the third baseman Josh Young and it may be a long shot but a triple here will give him the cycle. Bottom of the zone and a called strike action in the Angels bullpen number 39 preparing to come on if needed. Fulmer getting loose as well. Yeah, that’s outside swinging and a miss. One and two. He’s been great in this one. Eye hand coordination just failed him a little bit right there and down on strikes he goes and a strike out for the first out here in the ninth. Now the left fielder Wyatt Langford struck out on just three pitches last time. Jansen, the tall righty, 265 lbs, and he’s a native of Kurissau. Base is empty, one away here in the top of the ninth. The next pitch misses and the count is one and one. That two seam fast ball is usually coupled with a slider away. And when a hitter’s conscious of the pitch in, it’s hard for him to cover middle away. And that’s where a pitcher can really finish off that batter. Swinging this at a slider. A no fair right there. I mean, that slider didn’t move to the very last moment. Incredibly difficult to pick that up. Just going to have to tip your cap on that pick. strike three and that’s two in a row. Very strong coming out of the pin so far as he punches out the first two batters he’s faced in this one. Getting straight to work. Man, it’s talked about a lot, but relievers are just so electric these days. He’s having fun at bats if you’re a hitter. I’m so glad I’m retired. Time in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. Well, he didn’t like those first two pitches. Now an 02 hole. He’s going to have to battle. Hope he gets a mistake. Two down, nobody on. And that’s downstairs. It’s a ball in two strikes. Jansen fires. That’s ball to check swing. Now it appeal to third. He did not go around. Two outs outside and low. It’s ball four. That’s a tough one to swallow right there. If you’re on the bound, you’re ahead in the count 02 and you just couldn’t find a way to put him away. It’s going to be frustrating if that one comes back to bite him. Next, it’ll be the Texas DH Cody Freeman. He blasted one out earlier in the third. Just a solo home run, but an important swing of the bat in this game. We’ve already seen him do it once. Can he do it again? And a swing and a miss there. Time leads off first with two down to the inning. 0 and2 now as he swings through. Foul ball left side. He’ll see another. Next pitch is outside. And they’ll do it again. One, two now. Battling here as he fouls it away. Outside low. Two balls, two strikes. The count That’s foul off to the right side. Keeps the AB going. Swing and a ball lifted in the air. shallow left field and that’ll fall for a base hit. And now first and second with two outs. Now batting the first baseman, Ezekiel Duran. So next to hit for Texas, Ezekiel Duran. Hot shot to first base and he snags it to end the inning. We refer to third base as the hot corner, but that one was a hot one on the other side of the diamond. Nice job quickly leaving the ground. Makes the catch and that ends the inning. Back now and on the mound the closer Paul Sadenho a chance at his first save of the year for Texas. Number 26. 345 do up for the home team. And now the DH Mike Trout Trout. That’s in there. That’s strike one. Late in the game, everyone gets a little tighter. Way to get ahead on a really good hitter right there. And ball one inside. Little tardy on that fast ball. He’s going to have to get it going a little quicker. Get that front foot down. Fights that one away. Still one and two. Got a slider misses down and away. 10 and it remains two and two. Swing and a pop off in foul ground. Young makes the catch. One down. got the pitch that he wanted just a little bit quick. Front shoulder open, backside collapsed a little bit and the launch angle not where he needed it to be. He’s two outs away. So now the angel cleanup hitter Taylor Ward. That one at the knees for a strike. Next offering is in for a strike. Quickly into an 02 count. Both pitches were down in the zone. I think you set your sights a little bit higher cuz you’ll have a tendency to chase if you look down in that area. Basketball is outside. The Halos down by a pair here in the last half of inning number nine. Got him looking. Angels with only one out left. Well, just excellent location on that inside fast ball. Really locked him up and a hitter. It’s not typically what you’re looking for. You’re trying to protect away and then in. So, you can be a little bit tardy with two strikes. Hard to tell if he was fooled or if he thought it would be called a ball, but either way, that’s a really nice pitch. Adele stands in with two away as he takes a ball. and a strike in there. He must have been looking for something else cuz he gave up on that pitch a little early. It was right down main street. Probably not going to see a better pitch to hit in this at bat. And that’ll do it. Ball game. The Rangers claim the win here behind some great pitching and defense. The ball for his first career save deserves to be on display at his house. I mean, it’s kind of like when a restaurant frames its first dollar bill somewhere in a wall. You just can’t forget your first save. And your final 3-1 for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB The Show. I’m John Shami. Thanks for joining us.
