Here’s where we find out none of it is real
MLB opened Pandora’s box by taking the betting money. This comment is sponsored by FanDuel.
Two Guardians pitchers involved in gambling investigations in the same year.
Have a feeling this will lead to the betting scandal we’ve anticipated for years.
How long before we can bet on what players we think are placing bets on FanDuel?
If he’s innocent, it’s pretty crappy by MLB to drop this right before the deadline as Cleveland is working their way back into the playoff race. And between him and Ortiz being out so long in the process, I gotta think they’re guilty or else Cleveland is really getting screwed over here.
Wonder if he has a manservant to take the fall for him like Ohtani did.
Dude already has a full year PED suspension under his belt. I guess domestic violence would be the trifecta.
Source: Baseball reference says he sat out all of 2020 for a PED suspension.
That’s unfortunate. Where’s the integrity?

Paid leave for gambling investigations lol
This investigation into gambling being bad is brought to you by FanDuel, the official betting partner of Major League Baseball!
“Who could possibly have seen this becoming an issue?” I say as I watch the Reds on FanDuel sports network and they give me updated odds on each player’s likelihood to do something every inning.
Due to the structure of baseball with poorer young players, especially those with little buzz coming out of the minors, I fear we will only see more scandals with betting as time goes on.
What else is there to do in Cleveland? I mean, I never heard anybody say, ‘ I’m going to Cleveland on vacation.’ What’s so good about Cleveland?
Clase 2024 ALCS
3 Appearances (15.43 ERA)
10/17–0.1 IP/3 H/2 ER/2 HR (Guardians leading 3-1 when entered game, Guardians win 7-5 after scoring 4 in the ninth and tenth innings)
10/18–1.0 IP/3 H/2 ER (loss) (Tied game in the ninth at 6-6. Guardians lose 8-6)
10/19–1.0 IP/1 H/0 ER (Pitches scoreless inning in ninth with score tied. NY scores 3 in the 10th to close the series)
Who didn’t see this coming? /s
Another trade off the table…
What are they doing over in Cleveland this is the second player to be caught up in a gambling scandal what they got a gambling ring in the clubhouse or something
Guardians seem to have a problem. Shocked that getting into business with gambling interests created an environment where players (allegedly) get involved with gambling.
MLB brought this on themselves by getting in bed with sports betting. They should immediately cease all connections to it and allow zero business activities between the two entities or on any game broadcasts.
translator did it.
I’ve been holding on to Cade smith in dynasty for like 3 years!! The time is now!
The rise of legalized gambling is making it easier to find out when a player, or someone with easy connections to a player is gambling. So we’ll definitely see more get caught.
Makes you wonder how many players had been gambling all along in the shadows
They are cooked. I was having such a good day and then this.
According to a guy I went to school with who works in the front office of another team, I was told.
They are on administrative leave because MLB has the goods on them. However, they have a right to a hearing before being suspended and disciplined. They also have a right to counsel to defend them. That is why Ortiz s leave was pushed back. His hearing was pushed back because he had retained a lawyer who, of course, needed time to prepare. Clase will probably go the same route.
Do not expect to see either one of them back this year or next year. They will be lucky if that’s all they get. MLB will want to make an example of them. I don’t know if this is actual facts, but it makes sense.
Might make a good Netflix documentary someday when they sit down and explain what happened and WTF they were thinking 🤔
Been saying this for years, sports betting affects more than you think.
Follow along with the investigation presented by Draft Kings
Quick change your name to Ohtani!
Did he have money on the alcs, cuz that was an all time throw.
The bet is presumably “first pitch ball”. Andy pages swung on one of the pitch so that means Pages lost Clase’s friend a ton of money.
Let’s play conspiracy.
Wouldn’t it be something if one or more MLB owners were involved in placing bets and incentivizing their players to cooperate?
But yea! Let’s move a team to fucking Vegas! We can have a sports book on site!!
A prop bet like this is insanely easy to manipulate (nearly 100% controlled by the pitcher, practically no impact on the game whatsoever). MLB would be foolish not to cut ties with any bookkeeper that refuses to stop offering prop bets like these.
Clase salary $4.5 M this year and $6 M 2026 guaranteed. If true, how much could something like this make him for the risk? Or just never thought he’d get caught?
