MLB LIVE🔴 Miami Marlins vs Milwaukee Brewers – Jul 27, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
Live from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, we’ve got baseball on the show. It’s the Miami Marlins and the Milwaukee Brewers. And now first coming your way next Milwaukee Brewers about to get started here and towing the slab Quinn Pier and Singing. We were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots. I’ve just been so impressed with when it seems like there’s more pressure, he’s more calm and settles in. He’s done an incredible job with runners and scoring position. Most guys, they get a little tight, they start to aim the baseball, but for some reason he gets looser, the ball comes out of his hand with more life and he’s able to wiggle off the hook of, you know, tough situations and get his team back in the dugout. Xavier Edwards, the leadoff batter, as he looks at ball one. And another ball. Next offering is fouled back. [Applause] Bunch attempt but that goes foul. [Applause] And now two and two line drive and that’s a base hit. So a man on base to start the inning. Batting second the right. Not a bad pitch by any means. Down and away right on the corner of the zone. Just a better swing. Boo. Stayed through it and hit it hard the other way. Jesus Sanchez the next up for the Marlins. right through there for a strike. Sanchez goes 6 feet 3 in batting second in today’s lineup and he was born in the Dominican Republic working down in the zone to start the bat. Looking for that double playground ball. Yeah, back to back sinkers there. He’s looking for some weak contact or to get this hitter to roll over. Now, as a hitter, you have to be really disciplined. Don’t look down because you’ll end up chasing the ball down. Set your sights high. Maybe you get a mistake. Black over to second. Back to first. Not in time. Well, that was going to be a really tough one to turn two on. So, a nice job to get the out at second right there. Hold on to the baseball. Shortstop clearly paid the price, but that kind of comes with the territory. So digging in Otto Lopez that’s in there and that’s strike one man at first one away pitch is in there and that’s strike two. That’s good pitch there. Had some run and finished little up and in just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. Slider misses outside. Fouled off the plate. They’ll do it again. And he deals. Swing and a miss. Struck him out of the slider. And there’s two gone. And he’ll be beating himself up on the way back to the dugout. Got a pitch to hit and just couldn’t get to it. I think that slider really caught way more of the plate than it was supposed to. Now here is Kyle Sters and a foul ball. Sanchez the runner at first with two gone. Let’s go. That one pushed to the left and fouled, two outs on the ground. Right side terrain. And that’ll do it. Marlins leave one. Now it’s the Brewers turn. It’s a scoreless ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Back here in Milwaukee. And on the mound in this one, Sandy Alcantara. Well, he’s been a very dependable starter for his club. And what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him. And it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball. Maybe it’s the release point, maybe it’s the motion, but just some way somehow they’ve got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side. [Applause] Swinging a foul straight back. [Music] [Applause] Next pitch inside. One and one. One. Base hit center field. Solar runner aboard to start the inning. Hitting is really easy for some guys. One thing that I can see already, his bat stays in the zone on plane for an extended period of time. And guys like that, they have a high contact rate and they have more barrels because of that bat being on plane. And even when you don’t get it great, it’s still hit hard enough to dunk something in like that in front of the center fielder. And now it’s William Contrarus. [Laughter] Stay out of the double. Rudder at first with no outs here. Good approach right there. You want to get something just a little higher that you can elevate. Stay out of that double play. Move over to first. Try to keep him close. [Music] The one-1 is fouled off. [Applause] That’s to third. Slings to second. Throw sails over his head at first. And it’s going to wind up out of play. Well, no trouble getting the double play started, but clearly some trouble on that return throw first. I’m not sure if the runner going into second had a part in that or if it was something like a bad transfer. Either way, could have been two outs, but instead they got to work around a runner in scoring position now. So, the go-ahead run in scoring position. And now the DH Christian Yelich hit hard base hited for the plate. He’ll score and it’s one- nothing. No waiting around right there. He was ready to swing it on the first pitch. Just a very nice approach and swing right there to use the big part of the field. Everything was on time. He stayed balanced through the entire swing and just launched that one into center. Man at first with one gone. Jackson Chorio the next to hit and that’s outside. One ball, no strike. Alcantra over to first. Yelich dives back in. [Applause] The next pitch misses and it’s 2 and 0. Runner. [Applause] Runner on the goal. Pitch misses. Throw safe. One out and a runner at second. And ball four to a board. Take your base. That just came apart right there. Four pitch walk and guy at the plate was not going to help him out by swinging at something out of the zone. Two on, one out. Digging in. It’s the speedy outfielder Isaac Collins at 96. That pitch is in for a strike. At this point, the clean inning is over. Got to settle in, focus on the hitter, and get out of it with minimal damage. He gets there with the slide throw to first. Pretty nice play there. Batting six, the first baseman, Toddler. Let’s take a look at the Brewers lineup. A very athletic offensive group with speed spread throughout this offense. Yeah, and it’s so important that they have patient and quality at bats because the key is to get on base. If they do that, then they can create a whole lot of havoc on the base pass, skid runners around to score, and then that’s going to get you some good pitches to hit as well. So, a very athletic team and we should be in for a treat in this one. It’s not the standard approach that we see in today’s game, but it does work for them offensively. Base hit, one run in already. Now, the second run is in. It’s three zip. He was all over that one. You’ll often hear the phrase short to it, long through it. And that’s a great example of it right there. Got the barrel in the hitting zone early, squared it up with the welltimed swing, and came away with a beautiful line drive into center field. Two outs, runner on first. Now it’s the switch hitting outfielder Blake Perkins. He in the dirt. No balls, one strike. [Applause] and he grounds one to the right side. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. Three runs for him here and they move ahead. We move to the second in Milwaukee. It’s the Brewers three and the Marlins nothing. Second inning set to go. And now for the Marlins. Augustine Ramirez. Ramirez. Gets the outside corner with that one. A three-0 lead is great, but you can’t get too comfortable. Got to stay aggressive. Keep attacking hitters. Try to cruise through this ball game. swing and a ball ripped out towards right center field. That’ll touch down for a hit. Batting six, the first baseman number Liam Hicks. Hicks. That one got close. One and0. Ramirez aboard here at first with nobody out. And that’s outside and now two and0. Our plate umpire Earl Hris. Yeah, with Hrix Boo kind of interesting. He’s a good consistent umpire, but you do hear that he kind of favors one side of the plate more than the other. So, it’s really hard to know for sure, but I think that usually it has to do something with where he sets up prior each pitch inside. Just missed in for a strike. And now three and one. That one fouled off. [Music] Nobody out. Runner at first and ball four to a board. Well, interesting. He went with the off speed and walked the hitter. Man, you got to challenge the guy with the fast ball. First and second, no outs. And now the catcher comes up to him. Nick Forz swings through that one. Oh, one. First and second, no outs here in the top of the second. [Music] ball. Little chopper rolls foul. Lined and that’s a base hit. Rounds third headed for the plate. the throw in, but it’s offline. He’s saved. Well done. Narrows the deficit with the RBI there. I could watch base hits like that one all day long. And so could every hitting coach in the league. Just a nice line drive into center field. Graham Paulie will hit next. [Applause] Yeah, they’re swinging a miss. 0 and one. [Applause] And that is out of play. [Applause] Next pitch is outside. [Applause] the other way. Makes the catch. One down. So, digging in, Javier Senoha. I know we’re still early in the stages of this game, but this at bat has the potential of being a differencemaker. You’ve got to stay calm in the box. Foul ball there. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Ground ball right side and foul ball. [Applause] High chopper to third but it kicks fouled. Two on one out. Grounded to third. Could be two. Off balance feed. There’s one. What a double play that was. Getting over but they pick up one run on the RBI single and this is now a 31 ball game. Back after this on the show. Back here at American Family Field. Bottom of the second. This is Anthony Seedler. I just love watching Alcantra get ready for games. Boom. He turns into a different person. Just usually cracking jokes and having a good time, but start days are a different story. That’s when things get serious for this guy. Fast ball in for a strike. Go and one. Next offering is fouled back. That one back up the middle and it gets through and the leadoff man aboard. Batting nut the shorts stop. Now here is Joseph Ortiz. Delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. Come on, Milwaukee. Right through there for a strike, man. 91 on the slider right there. That’s a hard one. That’s a low-end fast ball for some pitchers. But a short stop takes a ball. [Applause] That’s down and in. [Applause] Got him looking. That’s a strike out. Back to the top of the Milwaukee order. This is Bryce Terra. One for one with a single so far. The right down to shoot and one. This guy absolutely flies. The defense wants to turn two, but they’ve got to get a ball they can do it with. Make sure you get the first out before you try to rush and get two and end up with nothing. Swing and a miss. No balls. Two strikes. [Music] Foul ball. It stays nothing and two. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. And that one hammered. That’s back there. And that one is gone. He made him pay for that one. his seventh home run of the season and they add to the lead. It’s 51. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself and bat after a bat. He’s that confident. Well, you can see he was out front just a little bit. Maybe didn’t recognize the change of earlier, but he got the bat head to it, hooked it down the line, and was able to keep it fair for a long home run. Really impressive. Now it’s going to be William Contrarus. 0 and one. Still only one out here in the inning. [Applause] Foul ball. [Music] That one inside. Look out. One out. Base is empty. Swing and a miss. Alcantara gets the strike out. Oh, that slider was way out of the zone. And for me, it just comes down to not seeing the pitch out of the hand, not tracking it into the zone, and then also being a little bit anxious, not confident in your two strike approach. So when a guy’s in that position, you get him to commit early and a lot of times you get the swing and miss as you did right there. Two outs, space is empty. Next for Milwaukee, Christian Yell. That one outside and that’s ball one. [Applause] [Applause] next offering misses down and away. Two and two. Swing and a miss. dropped him out and he’s registered three Ks in this one, but two come across to score in the inning courtesy of this two-run homer. It’s now a 51 ball game. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. New inning getting started. And now it’s the switch in second base Xavier Edwards. Prester back to work. That one finds the zone. Strike one. Nope. Ball. One and one. And a foul ball. One and two now. And that skips in the dirt. Two balls, two strikes. Brewers. Soft contact in the air. Puts it away for the out. The right fielder number seven, Jesus Sanchez. And now the right fielder Jesus Sanchez 0 for one. He hit into a fieldielder’s choice his first time [Music] and delivers outside. 10 right through there for a strike. [Music] two. One ball, two strikes in the dirt. Two and two. That’s down and in. A slider missed. Definitely a swing and miss slider down and in. He finished that really well. just couldn’t get him to offer at it. And they’ll do it again. One down. Base is empty. Fouled off again. And it remains three and two. And that’s ball four. It wasn’t easy, but he earned that walk after a long at bat. A breaking ball in that 3-2 count kind of tells you that that’s the pitch he has the most confidence in right now. Just couldn’t find the strike zone. Lopez the next to hit takes ball one. Sanchez the base runner at first with one out. ripped on a line to center. Perkins snags it for the second out. And at the plate for Miami, Kyle Stard grounded out his first time up on the ground right side. Oh, can’t pick it up cleanly, but they get the out at first. And that’ll do it for the inning. One left for Miami. They’re down here five to one. As we go to the last of the third and the Brewers cleanup hitter, Jackson Chorio Rio. Tap foul at the plate. Well, he’s back out here for the third. And after the first couple of innings, pretty rough. I think the skipper is looking for him to give him a little bit of length. see if he can save the bullpen some. I think this is an important inning on the mound for him in this game. He’s got to find a way to settle things down and give some length in this start. The one-1 on the ground right side throws to first. One up, one down. Now batting left fielder Isaac. Isaac Collins up now for the Brewers. Grounded out his first time. Let’s go. And he lays down a bunt and a foul ball. That one misses and one and one fought off foul. [Music] Foul ball still a one and two count. swings through it and that’s a strike out. Stood absolutely no chance on that slider right there. I don’t mean to laugh, but that’s a tough one. I mean, pretty much a perfect strikeout pitch. I mean, it looks like a fast ball middle in kind of has cutter action and it just bunches you up to whereas you can’t get your hands through and the barrel to it and not much you can do unless you recognize the spin early and you spin. Black stands in with two away as he takes a ball. Swing and a ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit and that keeps the inning going. Couple of hits in a row for him here. Really nice job staying up the middle with his approach. He didn’t try to do too much with the pitch. Just shot it through the infield. Blake Perkins up now for the Brewers. And the first pitch misses for ball one. One and downstairs, Miami’s bullpen with some action. Valente Beoo up and loosening in the pen. Here we go, Brewers. Two outs. In today’s game, not that many fast ball counts, but hitters still in the back of their minds. They’re looking for one. Two change up call right there. Excellent pitch selection to go with. Next offering is in for a strike. gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. Make it happen, Brewers. And that’s in the dirt. Three and two now. Great RBI spot here. Just got to stay focused on the pitch. The runner will be in motion. So, something in the gap should definitely score it. Right side. He takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it. So, no runs here on a base hit, no errors, and one left. Three innings complete. It’s the Brewers five and the Marlins won. And welcome back to the ballpark. John Shami with Chris Singleton. And set to lead off the fourth, Augustine Ramirez. first pitch misses. You know, these Marlins showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one. He’s only given up one run, but the starter’s pitch count is starting to get up there and that might be the best news yet for this offense. That one ripped but fouled. You know, sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage and that might be the case today. Swearing and a miss as he was out front that time. Ground ball up the middle into the outfield base hit. Man aboard on the leadoff single. The first baseman number 34 Liam Hicks. And up next for Miami, Liam Hicks. He reached out to walk his first time. And that’s him for a strike. It’s 0 and one. Hicks 25 years old and he was a ninthround draft pick in 2021. Let’s turn and foul ball that misses the zone. It’s a ball in two strikes. Squag on belted. Perkins long run and it one hops the wall coming home. He’ll score easily back against the wall with two strikes but found a way. Got a good pitch to drive. Stayed short with his bat path to the ball and caught it out front and he stayed long in his follow through. That’s how you split the gap and that’s pretty much a double every time. Runner in scoring position. No outs. Nick Forz the next up for the Marlins. RBI single his last time up. And that’s through there for a strike. And it’s all one strike. Man at second. Strike two. He has a tendency to chase out of his own. That slider that’s down. That’s one of his money pitches to get that swing and miss [Applause] way outside and it’s one and two. O2 pitch that far out of the zone gives the hitter a little confidence that maybe he can climb back into this at bat. [Applause] That misses the zone. It’s two and two. Really good take especially with two strikes. And that’s off the inside edge. And that’s ball three. That’s a good at bat right there. He was down early in that plate appearance. Works the walk. Well, they didn’t give him anything to hit. And now with runners on first and second, they’ve set up a double play opportunity. So, not a terrible result. First and second, no outs. Next to hit, Graham Paulie. [Applause] misses again. Five in a row. Activity in the bullpen for the Brewers. Jared Kanig, the left-hander, is getting that big fast ball of his ready to go. Miserowski, the right-hander, also getting loose. In there at the knees. Hicks, the lead runner out at second. Forez at first with no outs. [Applause] Next offering misses. Two and one. Could be some action here on this next pitch. Couple runners on. Probably a challenge pitch coming. [Applause] Ground ball right side. Could be two. Blacks to second and they get him easily at first. It’s a double play. The 361 double play, in my opinion, one of the toughest plays to make. You’ve got a pitcher covering first and the middle infielder throwing to a moving target. Everything has to be perfect. And right there, they made it look pretty easy. So, two down now. And here is Javier Senoha. He hit into a double play his first time off. That one finds the corner. 0 and one. Oh, one. Two outs now. One and one. One. One. Swing and a miss. And he was fooled. clearly was sitting on a fast ball right there and just ended up out in front of the slider. Hey, you can’t fault him for his commitment. Now he’s just going to have to battle with two strikes. Fights that one away. Still one and two [Applause] on the ground right side. Terra tosses to first. They limit the damage here, but a run will score in the inning on this RBI double. It’s 52. And we’re back. Ready to go. Bottom four up now for Milwaukee. Anthony Seagler. The third baseman Anthony Seagler. Swinging a foul straight back. Well, these Brewers doing a great job, Boo, of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way. And I’m seeing very patient at bats out of them. Not only have they already put up a bunch of runs on the board, but they’ve also made the starter work really hard out there. Offbalance throw in. One out in the bottom of the fourth. Joseph Ortiz. And the batter will be the shorts stop. Joseph Ortiz. His first at bat was a strikeout. And that one clips the corner. Like I said, his pitch count is high. So, I got to expect they’ll be turning to their bullpin sooner than they had hoped. One down, base is empty and a foul ball. He stays alive. That misses now. One and two. This one in the air. Hicks makes the grab. Two down. Oh, that’s a frustrating into the at bat for the hitter right there. I mean, that pitch was right down the middle. I think he got a little too excited. Came out of his mechanics and instead of driving that ball somewhere, he popped it up. Unfortunate for him. This is important. And if he can go one, two, three here will be a very positive sign for him and for his team. Terang up for the third time here. Watches that one miss. In for a strike and it’s one and one there. There’s the strike. Two two. That one misses. Full count. Three and two. [Applause] Line drive. Makes the play and it’s out number three. Brewers go down quietly and it remains 5-2. Now pitching for So the Brewers bring on a new pitcher from the pen, Jared Kanig. He pitched yesterday and we’ll see him once again. Back to the top of the Miami order. Now it’s the second baseman Xavier Edwards one for two. They say win. You know these Marlins doing a good job of putting the ball into play and that makes things more challenging on the defensive side. One thing that really stands out to me is how they’ve only struck out one time. That’s good discipline right there. And on top of it, they’re producing more than a hit per inning. All those numbers mean this offense is really making the defense work by just putting the ball into play. Anything can happen at that point. Up and in. And it’s two and two. And that’s in the dirt. Got a full count. swing and a chopper out to short. Now the throw to first on the run and he’ll be safe at first. The right fielder. That’s a play you expect your shortstop to make pretty much every time. Pretty routine. Hard to tell if he didn’t get a great grip on it or the mechanics on him just broke down. But that gives this offense an extra out to work with. Man at first. Now it’s the right fielder Jesus Sanchez. He’s old for one. Fouled off. He was late. Now snap throw to first and he’s back in there. [Music] And now one curve in the dirt. Oh, he’s really working him away this at bat. Sometimes take a little bit off velocity. Try to get a rollover something on the ground. Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield. In the air pretty deep out to center field. Perkins under it. Nabs it. And there’s one down. [Applause] The batter number six, shortstop, Otto Lopez. The batter now, Otto Lopez, down the middle for a strike. One. There it was. Oh. Oh, here it is. Hit it. He gets a take. Gets ahead in the count. Next offering is down low. One ball, one strike. Step off throw to first and he’s back in easily. Swang and a ball lifted in the air. Chio snags it on the run. Well, those can be pretty fun as an outfielder. Got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. Kyle Sters the next up for the Marlins. He’s grounded out a couple of times and first offering is fouled off. Here we go. Milwaukee runner. Here goes the runner. And that one fouled off. [Music] Off the mark there and the count is one and two. Edwards off of first with two away. Pitch misses there. Two balls, two strikes. Two outs. Still two and two after the foul ball. Good job to fight that one off. counts in the dirt but kept close foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. fouls it back with two strikes. Here we go. So now two on and two outs. When you go that deep into an at bat, the hitter usually comes out on top. Now batting the center fielder, Augugustine. First and second, two outs. Augugustine Ramirez the next up for the Marlins. He’s two for two. [Music] First pitch doesn’t find the zone. [Music] This one popped up. Foul ground first base side. He’s got it. And that is that Marlins strand a pair. They trail at 5-2. Now pitching forward. Back now to start the bottom of the fifth. taking over on the mound. Jansen junk. And compared to a lot of other relievers, strikeouts have not been a big weapon for him this year. So, the defense should be active. Good and first offering is fouled off. Well, these Brewers really impressing me with the quality of their at bats in this one. It’s been fun getting a chance to see them go to work. It looked to me like they really wanted to get to the starter early, get him out of the game before he settles in. So, I’d say mission accomplished. Ball one there. And that’s ruled a swing. It’s a strikeout. Now batting. Here’s Yell at the dish. singled and scored back in the first. He’s one for two. Late swing, fouled to the left. Base is empty, one away. Last half of inning number five. And that one misses up and in. And it’s one and one. That one is upstairs. [Applause] Chopper right side takes it to the bag. Steps on first and it’s out number two. Now batting the right fielder Jackson. So now it’s the fourhole hitter Jackson Chorio. [Applause] That missed by a lot. Ball one. And another ball. Two outs. Base is empty. Outside low. And that’s ball three. Three 0. The right-hander gives up the two out walk. Runner, take your base. One of the things about that two out walk, the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead. So, a ball down the line or into the gap will produce a two out RBI. And those are the best. That is if you are the offensive side of it. Pickoff throw and he dives back in safely. runner on the move. There’s a ball wide throw and it gets away. [Applause] Let’s go. runner at second. Two down. Here we go. This one in the dirt. Tag save. He’s into third on the wild pitch. Even with a good secondary lead, sometimes it’s hard to see just how far that ball’s gotten away from the catcher. And if you can make it to third base pretty much standing up. Well, that time he seemed to have a pretty good read. Gets to third safely and now he’s just 90 ft away from scoring. [Music] Out to short. Lopez fires to first on the run. What a play to end the inning. Milwaukee leaves one. They’re still out in front 52. Now pitching for we’re back and they make a change to start the six. The new pitcher DL Hall. Still a lot of game left and this game could go either way. So this is a big opportunity for him to get some important outs and try to help carry this lead into the later innings. Pigs leading things off and takes a strike. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Well, on paper, it’s favorable to have a fairly quick inning here with two of the three hitters he’s set to face batting from the left side, same side he throws from. And the pitch is outside. Ball one. Pitch in the dirt now. Two and two. Fouled off. And they’ll do it again. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. And he couldn’t hold back. He’s run up on strikes. [Music] Nick number four. Nick Forez digs in now. Fortz having a lot more success on the road this season. [Music] Swing and a miss. It’s 0 and one. 0 and one. just missed. The Brewers leading by three and we’re the top half of the sixth. Fast ball in the inside corner for a strike. One, two. [Applause] One down. Face is empty. Strike three. And that’s two in a row. Very strong coming out of the pin so far as he punches out the first two batters he’s faced in this one. Getting straight to work. Man, it’s talked about a lot, but relievers are just so electric these days. These aren’t fun at bats if you’re a hitter. And I’m so glad I’m retired. Yeah, that’s fouled off. The one. Oh, that hit him. Safe at first and an infield single keeps the inning going. Up next for the Marlin. And now they’ll hustle out to check on him. That was quite a shot he took as you see him down on the knee. Yeah, clearly in some real pain, but he will not want to come out of this game if he doesn’t have to. It’s looking to me like he’s going to try to shake it off and continue. Runner at first with two away. Javier Senoha now at the plate. There’s the strike. Swinging a foul. Pushed off to the right. And that will get out of play. Breaking ball misses down and away. Tough to take a two strike change up. It just missed. I think it froze him. There’s a line drive to left field and that’ll do it. No runs, one hit, no errors, and a man left. 678 do in the bottom of the sixth. It’s the Brewers five and the Marlins two. Bottom of the sixth inning up now for Milwaukee. Tyler Black [Applause] Junk back to work and there’s a foul ball. Well, he missed a hitable offspe pitch right there. Not sure exactly with the timing. Sometimes you get a backup breaking ball. You’re expecting it to make its move at the end. It never does and you’re tied up. [Music] Switch through that one. It’s a strike out. Boo gets talked about a lot, but a good high fast ball in a two strike situation, it’s just become such a problem for hitters and more recent years. I mean, with all of the emphasis by pitchers on developing that spin rate, having a good grip on the baseball, those high fast balls, they kind of look like to the hitter that they’re rising, even though they’re not, but they’re not decreasing in velocity and spin rate. So, very difficult to get the barrel on it. And the one fast ball for a strike and misses inside [Applause] at 96. That pitch is in for a strike. [Music] And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Foul ball. Another 2-2 upcoming [Music] just off the inside edge. Full count. [Applause] Ground ball right side on the run. Sends it over to first on the money. Nice play. Up next for the Brewers. The third baseman Anthony. Anthony Seagler. down for the Brewers. And he swings and misses at the initial offering. 0 and one. Back to the mound. He’s got it in plenty of time to first and Milwaukee is set down in order. Now pitching for left-hander out of the bullpen, Aaron Ashby. Number 26. He last pitched two days ago. Aaron Ashby. Here’s the second base, Xavier Edwards. One for three. The Fish in striking distance, but have some work to do. Boo. It starts with the laid off. Man, I need a good at bat out of him right here. Bounding ball here. Rolls foul. Ashby. A 61 lefty. He features a sinker, a change up, a curve, and he works in a slider. Swings through that one for strike two. This guy’s got such a good sinker. As a hitter, you’ve got to look up in the zone. If you look down, you’re going to be chasing stuff in the dirt. Fouls it off. Still one and two. Stays alive. sets him down looking. Buckled him with the back door breaking ball for strike three. Ah, the Uncle Charlie boo. Kept it up his sleeve the entire bat till the sixth pitch. Snapped it off, dropped it in there, and just frozen. What’s with the Uncle Charlie nickname? I mean, people use it all the time. Doesn’t feel like it’s it’s common knowledge as to why. Yeah, I don’t know. Um, sounds like something we could find on the interweb, though. Yeah, I think you’re probably right. But why not like Uncle Carl or something like that? Uncle Curly. Uncle Boo. Well, but then what would it be? A breaking ball. Base is empty, one away here in the top half of inning number seven. And that one hit 97 on the gun. Activity in the bullpen. Abner, the hardthrowing righty is up and loosening. Mirs warming up as well. swings through that one for strike one. Two and one’s the count. Sanchez checks his swing. Appeal to third and he went around according to Clyde Washington. got him looking and there’s two down. No, anytime you can punch out the top two guys in a lineup to start an inning, got to be feeling pretty good out there on the mound because when you think of just having a distraction, table setters on the base paths and all of a sudden you’re dealing with the number three hitter. Any distraction can cause you to serve up a cookie and instead of it being a solo shot, it’s a two or three-run homer. Lopez at the plate now. That’s ball one. Next offering is fouled back. [Music] So a foul ball makes it one and two. Two down. Do on. That’s a ball down. spoils a two- strike pitch. And he’ll see another that one inside and it’s three and two. Count is full. Good played appearance there. Able to take the walk. Up next for the Marlins. And here comes the Brewers manager to the mound. Pitching change coming. Aaron Ashby out of the game. It’s a three-run game. And we’ll be back to tell you about the new arm in a minute. Now pitching for. So out of the paint comes the rightander Nick. This guy’s a strikethrower. He’s done an excellent job of avoiding walks so far this season. [Applause] So, a man at first. Here’s the left fielder, Kyle Sters. Brewers. Mere throws over. And first offering is fouled off. Let’s go Milwaukee. and ball one. Pretty standard high 02 fast ball right there. If you’re smart, you’ll look for something down in the zone, but not too far. Don’t want to chase that breaking ball in the dirt. He goes down looking. Marlins lead one and the deficit remains 52. [Music] Now pitching for we’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh. Calantrol coming on to face a righty here. And he’s been fantastic against him this year. His numbers in those matchups are very good. And here is Joseph Ortiz. This is a guy who’s in the lineup first and foremost because of what he contributes defensively, Chris. And when you talk about preventing runs from being scored, this guy is a big contributor. Next offering is fouled back. I was always told it’s hard to take you off the field when you play really good defense, especially at a premier position. And that’s what he does. The hitting’s going to come around. He’s going to figure it out. But right now, his big asset is the way he plays the game on defense. Swings and misses. Went back to the splitter and it was effective. First strike out for him in this one. That splitter is maybe the go-to pitch when he’s looking for a swing and miss like that. He throws it quite a bit and that’s a good example of the effect it can have on a hitter. Now it’s the second baseman, Bryce Terang, and he’s already left his mark on this game. He certainly has, Boo. a two-run shot in the second inning and that made an early impact on this game in a big way. And that misses ball one movement in the bullpen. Anthony Bender appears to be getting loose. [Music] [Applause] That’s too low. And the count is 2 and 0. fouled off to the right. Quattro back to work. Hard ground ball base now and they have their first hit since the third inning. Just so sound in his mechanics. hits against a firm front side and the hands just continue to carry through the middle of the field. And here’s the catcher, William Contreres, over to first and a save. And that’s in there at the knees. outside low and the count is one and one. One and one. Terang over at first with one away. Two-1 pitch out but no action. Let’s go now. Next offering is in for a strike. Come on. Swing and a miss. Struck him out on a splitter. Third time he struck out in this one. And definitely an individual performance you want to flush. He just hasn’t looked very comfortable up there. Just one of those days. But when you’re still winning the ball game, at least you can focus on doing your part to maintain that lead and getting that W. That one hammered, but pulled fouled. Now, if he’s going to steal second, you want him to go early in the count. That way, he’s not a distraction to the hitter at the plate. Go ahead and get it out of the way so the hitter can focus on the pitch. Boo, you got to move your feet as footwork is so important on those pickoff throws over to first and can be a little easy to get twisted up and throw across your body. And he didn’t have much of a lead over there at all. So I doubt he was trying to do anything more than he gets the intentional walk here and now a force at any base with two gone. Now batting the right fielder Jackson first and second and next will be the cleanup hitter Jackson Chorio. That’s in there. Strike one. 01. First and second, two down. Pitch misses there and a count even. One and one. Now that’s smacked to right center and it’s into the gap. Terrain around third. One run across. Yell flies around third. He’ll score. Two runs are in. Love how he let that ball travel. Trusted his hands. Nice job of going the other way. Now the Marlins manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen. That’s it for Calantrol and he’s responsible for the runner on second. So the book isn’t closed on him yet. We’ll be right back. Now pitching for new pitcher for the Marlins number 66. I think it’s got to be a little tough coming in out of the pin when your guys are trailing so big on the scoreboard. just doesn’t have the same intensity to it. But he’s got to find a way because these batters count the same for his stats obviously regardless of the score. So runner at second, two down. Next for the Brewers, Isaac Collins. Close one. Doesn’t get the call and it’s one and0. No strikes. Two outs and one in scoring position. Right through there for a strike. One-1 ball low. Next offering upstairs. 31. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Man on second. Two down and ball forward. Two aboard. Didn’t miss by much right there. Just couldn’t get the call off the inside corner. Up next for Milwaukee Tyler Tyler Black. That’s inside. [Applause] And that one is downstairs. Two and0. Two outs. Couple of base runners at first and second. That one pushed foul out of play off to the left. Really great change of speeds. He goes off the off speed to the fast ball and the hitter doesn’t know what’s coming next. That one lifted to left and that is that. Brewers pick up a run on this RBI double. It’s 72. It’s Major League Baseball and it’s on the show. We’re at the top of the eighth. And now for the Marlins. Augustine Ramirez. That’s off the mark. And that’s ball one. Doublebarreled action in the bullpen. Jacob Miserowski appears to be getting ready. And I’m sure he’s feeling some nerves. This would be his major league debut. Aribe getting cranked up as well. Let’s do this. and a strike. Big at bat right here. He did the team thing. Took until he got a strike. Now he’s got to go to work. Shorten up that swing a little bit. Do whatever it takes to get on base. And now one and two. Wow. Good luck catching up to that one. [Applause] lifted in the air right center field. Flashes the leather on the run and catch and there’s one down. The first baseman number 34, Liam. Next to hit, Liam Hicks. And a curve drops in for a strike. The Brewers leading by five and we’re in the top of the eighth. Swings and misses. And that is strike two. [Applause] That one missed. One ball, two strikes. That’s outside. Two balls, two strikes. The count. One down. Base is empty. That misses counts full. Three and two. That’s a good at bat right there. He was down early in that plate appearance. Works the walk. Almost a coin flip for the umpire in that call. But most umpires just don’t want to give pitchers a break up in the zone like that. Here’s the catcher. Nick Forez popped up to the left into foul ground. They got it for out number two. Now batting designated hitter Graham Paulie. Another batter Graham Paulie. Brewers. Gets the call. That’s strike one. This ball’s chopped on the ground. Third out, that ends the frame. So, it’s no runs on no hits, no errors, and one left on base. Home half of inning number eight. Straight ahead, it’s the Brewers seven and the Marlins two. [Applause] Back here at American Family Field, ready for the bottom of the eighth, leading off Blake Perkins. Perkins. Let’s go. And the first offering a fast ball for a strike. 0 and one. Slashes this one. And it could be trouble. Now he’ll turn for second and he’s there with a leadoff double. And man, I’ll tell you, a line drive like that into the gap just feels so good. It’s feedback that you had everything on time and in control from start to finish with your swing. Runner in scoring position. No outs. Anthony Seagler up now for the Brewers. Ball one. No strikes. And another ball. [Applause] [Music] That one misses and now 3 and0. Well, I would expect in this three 0 count, you’re taking all the way. See if he’ll walk you. And there’s the automatic. clearly taking all the way there in that three-0 count. It was a cookie right down the middle and that one wrapped foul. Cuts on it and misses. That’s a strike out. Chase the fast ball up the ladder for strike three. Thought it was a pretty good pitch. Top of the strike zone. We’re seeing more fast balls in that location. hitters, especially with two strikes, have to be ready to pull the trigger. Ortiz stands in now and watches strike one. 0 and one. That one almost got him. One out and a runner at second near the bottom half of the eighth inning. So, a foul ball makes it one and two. So glad these ballparks have installed the netting to protect the fans, keep things safer all around the league. Fouls that off to the left and we’ll do it again. That one 95 to finish him off. Well, he’s going to have some thinking to do when he leaves the ballpark after this one. That was his third strike out in this one looking obviously. So he’s been a little overmatched. He’s got to find a way just to be more competitive up there at the plate. So up next, Bryce Terang. He’s already homerred here in this one. And there’s a ball. There’s a ball. right through there for a strike. Back-to-back fast balls in. That last one called for a strike. Probably go away, but look for him to come back in there to try to finish you off. Now will bullet to second base, but he’s got it to end the inning. Brewers strand one, but they’re still on top seven to2. Now pitching for we’re back. It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Abner. Oh, he’s a big time strikeout guy out there this season averaging more than one per inning. So digging in, Javier Senoha Javier. It’s interesting. He plays kind of a a power spot defensively, but runs pretty well. So when you’re looking at that position, you’re not expecting someone that has maybe above average speed, but he does this to third. Tosses across to first. Now one gone in the ninth. Now batting the second baseman, Xavier Edwards. So up next, Xavier Edwards. And I think that skill set really upgrades the position because when you have that kind of speed, it makes the whole team that much better. Swing and a base hit. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Well, clearly he was ready to hit right there. Anytime you rip a line drive the other way, you feel really good about what you did at the plate. You trusted your hands. You let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it. That’s great work right there. And now Jesus Sanchez and first offering is fouled off. [Applause] What about him playing another position on defense, one that would require a little more range? Absolutely. And I think if push came to shove where they had to make a a move during a game, it’d surprise a lot of people. You might even be able to put him in center field. [Applause] goes down swinging for the strike out and the Marlins with just one out left. He had him out in front which isn’t easy to do against a hitter like this known for using the entire field. Just couldn’t sit back long enough on that one. Lopez in the box now. No balls in a strike. Edwards leads off first with two down to the inning. Swing and a miss as he was out front. Oh, with two. One strike away. [Applause] that one down the line and it stays fair and he can’t come up with it. The batter, the left fielder, Kyle first and second, two outs. Now the left fielder, Kyle Sters 0 for three in this one and a strike in there. [Applause] [Applause] swing and a pop off in foul ground ball game. Well, this was a total team effort using six pitchers in this ball game to get the win. Outstanding job of passing the baton, the next pitcher stepping up and getting it done. And you got to give them a lot of credit cuz this is not easy to do. We’ll see how it affects them over the next couple of days. 72 your final here today for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shami saying so long.
