MLB LIVE🔴 Texas Rangers vs Los Angeles Angels – Jul 28, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO

Coming to you live from Southern California, an ALO matchup on the show. It’s the Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels. First pitch coming at you right after the break. Welcome to Los Angeles Angels. All right, just about set to go. And on the mound today, Jake Eer and Singy, we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots. Well, no doubt about it. He’s going to have to put together some consistently good performances in order to bring that erra down. Now, he’s got good stuff. He’s just got to be able to have confidence, trust it, and really go after hitters, not nibble, trust that his stuff can have late life and miss barrels of bats. Michael Helman, the leadoff batter, as he looks at ball one. Blind drive. That’s a base hit into right field. man aboard on the leadoff single. Showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way. Didn’t get jumpy. Didn’t try to pull the ball. He let it get deep. Took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit. And now they’ve got some speed on first. So we’ll see if they try to get him into motion. Here’s Cory Seager. Swung on, popped up left side. Taylor settles underneath it. Pulls it in and there’s one away. And now we take a look at the Rangers lineup getting guys across the plate. Not exactly a forte for them this year as their offense is in the bottom third of the league in runs scored. It becomes extremely frustrating and then what happens is guys press especially in runcoring opportunities and situations. On top of that, I mean you really make it harder on your pitcher. He feels like he’s got to be perfect to go out there and win a ball game or at least to put the team in a position to win a ball game. So, they’ve got to figure out a way to relax, get those runners across when they have them on and especially when they’re in scoring position. Helman over at first with one away. Next offering is fouled back. This guy’s seen two change ups in a row. Could be a little vulnerable for a fast ball right here. down. Hacks and misses. It’s a strike out. Typically that high fast ball, if it’s close to the top of the strike zone, a hitter, if he’s prepared for it, can get to it. But that one just had that little jump at the end, which indicates there’s a good spin rate on it and it didn’t decrease in velocity as that hitter’s internal clock would expect it to. And that’s why you see the swing and miss. Adoleis Garcia stepping in for the Rangers. And first offering is fouled off. Step off throw to first and he dives back in safely. [Music] Hard hit left side. Third out. Rangers leave one. Now the Angels will get their first crack at it. No score. Back after this on the show. Back here with my pal Singi. And on the hill the lefty Patrick Corbin. What should we keep an eye on here? Well, Boo may be a little pedestrian there in terms of the ERA, but with those numbers, you expect to be in a ball game and have an opportunity to win. And really, that’s all his teammates can ask for. So, we’ll see if he’s able to be consistent in this one. And now the short stop, Zack Netto. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. Come on. That’s out to center field. Makes the grab. One away. All right, let’s take a look at the Angels lineup in that cleanup spot. A key piece for this club. Taylor Ward. Yeah, definitely someone I always enjoy, you know, when I get a chance to watch him, whether he’s hitting in a game or even taking swings during batting practice, man, this guy’s always so focused on what he’s doing on that task at hand. He’s got so much attention to detail that when he steps in the box, his success rate is really high. Nolan Shanowell stands in here, leaves that one off the inside. Corbin, he has a reputation, I don’t know, maybe a knack for working himself out of tough situations that he finds himself in. You know, you like that in a relief pitcher, but when you have it for a starting pitcher, a guy that can get out of a tight spot, that is pretty valuable. And you won’t see the skipper rush to get somebody up in the bullpen as soon as he starts to see some signs of trouble. This guy’s earned a longer leash and because of that, confidence grows with the players and teammates playing behind him that when things get a little rough out there, they know he’ll find his way through it. Left field, Langford, Carous, that’s out number two. How much of the ability to do that in a tight spot is the mental approach? I think it’s very much being able to have a laser-like focus, slow everything down, stay right in that moment, pitch to pitch, execution, and focusing on that catcher’s mid. Ball one, no strikes. late with the swing there. Instead of letting the hitter get his arms extended, tied him up a little bit. Slightly up, slightly in. And a swing and a miss there. This guy’s got such a good sinker. As a hitter, you got to look up in the zone. If you look down, you’re going to be chasing stuff in the dirt. And there’s a base hit to left. Zoe gets on base and keeps it going. Taylor Ward the next to hit for the Angels. He’s done a great job making contact recently, batting over 300 so far this month. Yeah, there’s the strike. I got a ball in the dirt. Blocked. Hit on the ground to short. Seager whips it to first. That ends the inning. Angels leave one. Scoreless after one. Top of the second. Here’s the third base Josh Young taking high in the draft. He’s had that top prospect labeled over him since he put on a professional uniform. But at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level. the lefty. The one on rip towards third. One out in the second. Batting six, left fielder Wyatt Langford. Now the left fielder Wyatt Langford. Eer measures 6’4 in 26 years old and they traded for him earlier this year. That’s off the inside corner. One and0. No score here in the second. Here’s a swing and a drive left field and he knew it. His 16th homer of the year. And they jump out front. It’s one- nothing. Well, he put a really nice swing on that one and everything was on time, took a direct path to the ball, excellent extension, and just drove it out of here. Nothing better than when the ball jumps off your bat like that. And now the switch in and catcher Jonahheim. And there’s the ball. One, [Applause] a little bit high maybe. And that’s ball two. Carl Dixon working the plate in this one. You know, we often hear and talk about umpires being a pitcher’s umpire, but Boo Dixon maybe a little bit more hitter friendly than most. He’s kind of tight on the corners. So, we’ll see if that comes into play at all in this one. There’s the strike. Singy. What kind of strike zone is most frustrating for hitters? I’d say off the plate, away, and down. And why? Those are the toughest locations to hit the baseball. two strike. [Applause] He goes down looking. No, just couldn’t pull the trigger on the fast ball right there. And I don’t think he was taking it thinking it might be a cold ball or anything. I just think he was flat out frozen. Did not expect that location in my opinion. Now at the plate, Cody Freeman. That’s a little bit low. Two down, base is empty, but one run across here in the top of the second. Swings through that one. One and one on a line. Base hit and that keeps the inning alive right there. He does a great job of staying in the big part of the field. Man, there are a lot of hits there. Ezekiel Durant stepping in for the Rangers. [Applause] Off the mark there. Ball one. [Applause] Catch ball to in the dirt. Two balls. No strike. Freeman off of first with two away. [Applause] Fouls one off. Two and two. I wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball. try to go again with the fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just ow. They got him. And that will end the inning. But they’re off to a good start as they pick up a run on this solo shot. It’s an early one- nothing lead. You’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. Back in Anaheim. Bottom of the second. Stepping in the long ball throw. Joe Adell. Adele Corbin back to work splits the plate and it’s 0 and one. Well, he had a pretty good look at that pitch and not sure exactly what tied him up there. Couldn’t pull the trigger and perhaps the best pitch you’ll see in this at bat to hit. And a 1-1. That’s in there. two. One ball, two strike. Fights that one away. Still one and two. [Music] Swing and a high-fly ball left field. Seager snags it and there’s one down. Batting six, right fielder Jorge. Jorge Soler up at the plate. [Applause] And that’s in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. One out. Base is empty. Next offering is fouled back. fights it off. He’ll see another. Next offering is down low. It’s a ball in two strikes. Got him looking. That’s a strike out. Well, you could tell he wasn’t expecting that ball to break back in on him. He may have been looking for something away, maybe something soft, but that slider on the inside corner absolutely froze him. Here comes Travis Darno. And that one fouled off. Two out. Space is empty. And that’s outside and one and one. Darno takes a strike. Ripped to short in plenty of time to first. Angels retired. One, two, three. Angels go quietly there. They’re down one- nothing. Back here at Angel Stadium onto the third inning and stepping in is the speedy Ezekiel Durant. That catches the outside corner. That’s strike one. That one drifts inside. That’s inside. out there to center. Ranifo puts it away. And there’s one down. That’s a tough play for the infielder. Ranging back into the outfield. There’s part of him that’s saying, “Hey, where you at, outfielder? Call me off.” But he stayed focused and made a nice catch right there. So the batting order turns over. Here’s the center fielder, Michael Helman. And first offering is fouled off. Looked like he got a little excited on that fast ball. Got to think to yourself, I want to stay up the middle. That way if you’re a little bit early, you hit it out of the ballpark. If you’re a little late, opposite field not. [Applause] Foul ball still 0 and two. cut out and miss. Struck him out and he’s registered three Ks in this one. Now it’s Cory Seager. First time off was a pop out. Just missed. [Music] and a pitch. Little bit low. Well, usually a high level of confidence when you’re facing a young pitcher out there on the mound in this situation ahead 20. He’s put himself in a really good spot. Two outs. That one’s spoiled and the count now two and one. [Applause] That clips a corner. [Applause] Fouls that off to the left and will do it again. Down to the dirt. Swing and a miss. Darno on to first. Got it. In and over on the strikeout. ready to go for the last half of the unit. Now it’s the second baseman, Luis Reano. Luis Reno right through there for a strike. fouled off. He was late and that’s in the dirt. Two strike lined and that’s a base hit. just kind of sliced that one into center back against the wall with two strikes but found a way. Kind of a risky pitch coming inside with the breaking ball like that. You have to bury it otherwise it’s not too difficult to get the bat to it like he did that time. Here comes Chris Taylor. That’s the third. There’s one out. How about that double play? Oh man, what a smooth double play. That was a thing of beauty from start to finish. The shorts stop, Zack Netto. So in for the Angels, Zack Neto. Close but called a ball. Ball one. slapped foul. Two down to and that’s outside. [Applause] Come on. Let’s go. Let’s score. And that one misses up and in. Full count. Three and two. Here’s the swing and a line drive and a base hit to right field. So, a two out knock keeps the inning alive. Love how he became a really tough out with two strikes right there. Anytime you rip a line drive the other way, you feel really good about what you did at the plate. You trusted your hands. You let the ball travel and you took the barrel straight to it. That’s great work right there. Over to first and save. [Applause] Now a chance for Nolan Shadowwell in there for strike one. [Music] [Applause] One and one. Run around to go. Pitch misses. Throw to second. Great jump. And that is a stolen base. It wasn’t even close. Well, we all know this team is struggling right now and sometimes you just got to do something different to generate some offense. A little more aggressive right there to put the pressure on the opponent. We’ll see if it pays off on the scoreboard for this team. [Applause] outside. That’s the ball. Not really attacking on the mound in this at bat. All breaking balls. So that makes me think they’re not really wanting to challenge him here. [Applause] Fought off foul [Music] on the ground. Simeon throws to first in time and that’s the inning. No runs, two hits, no errors and one left. On to inning number four. It’s the Rangers one and the Angels nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. John Shambi with Chris Singleton. And set to lead off the fourth, Marcus Simeon. Come on. Swings and blasts one deep to left center. That one hops against the fence. And that’s a leadoff double. Well, a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle. We saw the numbers coming into the ball game, but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win. Next to bat will be the Texas cleanup hitter, Adoleis Garcia. Grounded out his first time up. That’s a ball. Squirts away a little bit. Runner in scoring position. Nobody out. Top half of inning number four. [Applause] The 1-1 is fouled off. He’ll score and he’s going to get to second with nobody out. Puts a run on the board and picks up an RBI. I love the approach he had right there with that pitch. Not trying to do too much but still looking to drive it. And that’s exactly what he’s able to do into the opposite field gap for the double. Here’s Josh Young. First time up. He grounded to third. Swinging a foul out of play. [Music] [Applause] And that one upstairs. Ball one. Well, these Rangers did a great job, Boo, of just waiting for the right pitch to come their way. And I’m seeing very patient at bats out of them. They’re doing a good job of working the pitch count and they’ve been able to push a couple of runs across the score as well. Headed towards the corner [Applause] and that’s a foul ball. Still relatively early, but with a pair of runs already on the board, the ripple effect of that high pitch count might set him up to do more damage later in this game. Man at second and a good eye there. towards first and that goes foul. Garcia at second with nobody out. That missed by a lot and it’s three and two. and down on strikes now. Five strikeouts for him on the mound. Really good battle right there. That final pitch probably could have gone either way. He was hoping he’d get ball four. Instead, the umpire rings him up for the backwards K. [Applause] Up next for the Rangers, Wyatt Langford. He’s already homered here in this one. That misses the zone and it’s one and0. All one, no strikes. [Music] [Applause] Smoked on the ground to second. Throws to first in time. Now batting catcher Jonah. And now the catcher comes up to him. Jonah struck out looking at his first at bat. Right through there for a strike. Well, I know they’ve gotten out to an early lead, but you don’t want to take these opportunities for granted with two outs. Still lock in with a quality at bat. Drive in that run. You may not have another runner in scoring position the rest of this ball game. Swanging a popup. Neto drops into the glove and that is that. Rangers get one on the RBI double. It’s now a two nothing ball game. Major League Baseball is on the show. And we’re back. Bottom of the fourth now. Mike Trout. He is quite an athlete. I mean, you look around the other sports, basketball, football, you feel like he could thrive in one of those sports, too. There’s the strike. Next offering is down low. [Applause] The one-1 is fouled off. [Music] [Applause] That’s outside and it’s two and two. [Applause] That’s down and in. Expect for that guy to come right at you with a fast ball, something in the zone because he does not want to allow the leadoff walk. That one misses. So, a lead off walk. Oh, he earned his trip to first right there. It’s not easy laying off pitches that just missed the zone like that. And it’s a real discipline as well. He’s put a lot of work into that aspect of his game and it paid off right there. Late swing fouled all. Nobody out. Runner at first. [Applause] But two strikes. May see some movement over there at first base. Trying to stay out of the double play right here. Way inside. Gets out of the way. Rudder at first with no outs here up the middle. Dive and he’s got it. There’s one. That’s an out onto first in time. Double play. Perfectly timed dive right there to knock the ball down. He gets up and he flips it to the second baseman to start that 463 double play. Tell you what, that is the pitcher’s best friend. Here’s Joe Adele flyed out his first time. And that’s in there for strike one. Two down, nobody on. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. ball. I got one ball, one strike. They say it went all sliders so far in this at bat to get ahead in the count and clearly shows there was a game plan in mind for how to attack him in the box. spoils a two- strike pitch. And he’ll see another outside low and it’s two and two. Oh, I think the key I mean if he can get through one more inning, anything after that a hitter or two is bonus, but they should be lined up good enough to get to the finish line. Two outs. Ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. Everything came together for him. Just kept it simple. Played Pepper with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from. And there’s just no one there to knock it down. Runner at first with two away. And now Jorge Solair. [Applause] That one’s in there. 0 and one. 01’s the count. Right through there for a strike. Two strikes to a guy who’s already 0 for one with a punch out. the only guy in the lineup with that strike out. But you can’t get too relaxed. You still got to make good pitches to get him out. Started to go after it. Now we’ll look down to first and he went around. Not an easy call there, but that puts an end to the inning. One hit, one left. We played four. It’s the Rangers two and the Angels nothing. Back in Anaheim, all set for the start of the inning. And the batter now, Cody Freeman. Eater back to work. Freeman, 24 years old, and he’s usually a first baseman, but today he’s the designated hitter. The 01 check swing. He went too far and it’s a strike. Some people say their first baseman kind of have the day off regularly because they don’t run around a whole lot, but when you think about it, they are involved in just about every single play and there’s a lot of stress that gets put on their legs. So, a welldeserved day at the DH spot for and the leadoff hitter retired in the fifth. Now batting first baseman Ezekiel Duran. Ezekiel Duran stepping in for the Rangers. He’s 0 for one. Bunch attempt, but that goes foul. [Music] [Music] All right, check swing of the O2. Appeal to first and he couldn’t hold back. He’s rung up on strikes. Now batting. So the Rangers batting order turns over. Michael Helman the next to hit. One for two. Well, on the mound, very efficient, able to produce an outcome, it seems like, within the third or fourth pitch of just about every at. Not close with that one. And the count is 2 and 0. [Applause] Got it. Started a little too early. Strike one. Filthy change up right there. Just pulled the string. Just missed. He hasn’t fallen behind in the count like this all day. He’s in danger of walking his first batter right here. [Applause] Two down. Nobody on. Ground ball left side and foul ball. swings and misses and a nice inning of work there as he sets him down. One, two, three. Nothing doing for the Rangers, but they hold a two nothing lead. Back here at Angel Stadium, here’s the catcher, Travis Dardo. All these fans definitely want to get involved in the game. All it’s going to take is to get the leadoff man or even a base runner on. Now one out to right. Makes the catch for the out and a quick out number one. Now batting second base. So up next, Luis Rango one for one with a single so far. [Applause] ripped to first. Caught that at bat is a positive sign even though it probably doesn’t feel like it. He hit the ball hard, but it doesn’t always work out in your favor. Sometimes a defender is there to make a play. Here comes Chris Taylor. He hit into a double play his first time up. Joe. And that one cutting but missing down low inside and it’s 2 and 0. The Rangers leading by two. Last half of inning number five. There’s a strike and it’s two and one. swing and a miss as he was late that time. Looking sharp just to strike away from five shutout innings. Goes down looking. He continues to roll on the mound as five shutout innings are in the books. It’s the Rangers two and the Angels nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark. Seager stands in now. That one’s in there. And that is strike one. Activity in the bullpen for the Angels. Sam Bachmann up and loosening in the pen. Soraniano, a hard throwing right-hander up as well. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] upstairs [Music] [Applause] fans. Another and that’s three straight strikeouts. Really love the pitch sequence right there. I’m telling you what, pitcher and catch are on the same page right now. Here comes the manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move for the bullpen. Jake Eer gives way and he kept him in it even though he’s in line for the loss right now. New arm when we come back. Now pitching, new pitcher on now, Jose Soraniano. And as relievers go, he’s not a big strikeout guy. Tries to force weak contact. So command and execution are huge for him. Here is Marcus Simeon. His split numbers between June and July. there. For Marcus Simeon, probably the biggest adjustment and improvement he’s made has been on defense. Simeon made 35 errors as a short stop in 2015 with the Athletics. And by the time 2021, this ball is roped and it gets down into the gap in right center. In safely with a double, his second of the day. Two hits for him in this one. Both for extra bases. Got to feel good about that. He got a pitch he could drive, but he didn’t get too excited like a lot of guys do and pull off the baseball. Really good timing all the way through the swing. And the barrel was so on plane with the ball. Easy drive into the gap for that double. One out, runner at second. Now here is Adoleis Garcia. Swing and a highf fly ball down the right field line. That’s down. One hops off the wall. The run comes in from second. It’s three zip. He’s in with a double and that’s his second double of the night. Oh, clearly he was ready to hit right there. Loud contact leads to the double. I mean, you could tell it had extra bases written all over it as it jumped off of his stick. Man at second with one away. Now the third baseman Josh Young for two in this one. Just missed. [Applause] [Applause] That one is absolutely belted and it’s a one hopper off the wall. Should be extra bases. The run comes in from second and it’s four nothing. That’s now three hits in a row for the offense. Just a cookie down the middle. Those are the ones you dream about. Ones in the cage you’re just hoping you get in the ball game. Right down the middle. Not a whole lot of velocity right on top of it. Here’s the left fielder, Wyatt Langford. He launched the solo shot back in the second inning of this one. Yeah, that was big for these guys early on. Definitely helped them get off onto the right foot. [Applause] Line drive and that should be extra bases coming home. He will score. Love how he let that ball travel, trusted his hands. Nice job of going the other way. Here comes a skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move. Jose Soraniano done for the night and he’s responsible for the runner on second so the book isn’t closed on him yet. We’ll be right back. Now pitching for number 39 into the game. He last pitched two days ago. Jonah stepping in for the Rangers. Come on. Yeah, a big swing and a miss. Oh, one’s the count. One out, a runner at second. And we’re in the top half of the six. And that’s in there for a strike. And quickly nothing at two. No ball, two strikes. [Applause] And that one is inside. Recognized that change up right out of the hand. Just spit on it. Gets a piece and stays alive. Just misses the mark outside the zone. Really good take, especially with two strikes. [Applause] That one missed. Langford leads off second with one gone in the inning. [Applause] Fouled off again and it remains three and two. Swings and misses. Drop him out. Man, that slider bearing in on your hands like that, it’s just so tough to fight off. It’s kind of like a cutter. It just can eat you up, saw you off. Tell you what, hitters have nightmares about that pitch. Perfectly executed out there on the mound. Freeman in the box again, takes the strike. No need to offer that pitch until you get to two strikes. It’s just a low percentage of success when you want to try to go after that down and away pitch. Freeman hits it in the air. Adele going after it and he makes the catch. And that is that. Three runs on, four hits, no errors, and one left on. Top of the order, do up in the home half of the sixth. It’s the Rangers five and the Angels nothing. And we’re back. We go bottom six. And now Zack Neto. Zack Netto and first offering is fouled off. You know, these Angels need to bring up the quality of their bats and specifically their swings. They’re trying to find ways to drive the ball with some authority, but it’s just not happening for them so far. zero extra base hits in the game. So, it’s been tough for him to get anything going. Cracks his bat and pops him off. Duran the flip to the pitcher covering. Lead off man retired in the six. First baseman. Nolan Shanowell. Nolan Shadow the next to hit for the Angels. Sometimes you have to keep chipping away until you break through. But it’s a lot easier to put runs on the board when you have guys in scoring position because they put themselves there. Next offering pop foul off to the right out of play. Base is empty. One away here in the bottom of the six. Swing and a miss. And they count one and two. Two strikes. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Just off the outside part of the plate. Really nice slider right there, sweeping across the dish, but just couldn’t hang the edge. Cut on and lifted in the air. Garcia heads after it. No trouble here. Puts it away for the out. And there’s two down. Now batting designated hitter Mike. And now batting Mike Trout [Applause] pitch is in there. That’s strike one. No, this manager knows that his players are just trying to do too much. Everybody needs to just take a deep breath, relax, and let it naturally happen. And that one pulled foul. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. And it’s a three up, three down inning. And the Angels are gone in order. Still looking at that five nothing deficit. Back in Anaheim, top of inning number seven. And now here is Ezekiel Duran. First pitch and he just misses. Well, these Rangers digging into their numbers have to be happy with the swings they’re taking. It’s been a real team effort already. Seven extra base hits. So that goes to show they’re getting contributions from top to bottom. Nobody’s doing that by themselves. Inside just missed. [Music] [Applause] Swaying and a miss. And now two and two. Well, and those hitters count sometimes can be a little too aggressive and a good pitcher will play off of that. He’s got to get a better pitch to hit. Highf fly ball out towards left field. That’s back. Pulls it into the warning track. Now batting the fielder Michael. And now it’s the Rangers leadoff hitter Michael Helman. One for three. [Applause] And that misses inside. And that’s ball one liner. And that should be extra bases. Now he’ll turn for second and he’ll reach second with one away. Turn on that inside pitch. nicely and ripped it down the line to pick up two bases. That can be a tough pitch to keep fair, but his timing was great. Here comes Cory Seager. Outside low and that is ball one. two balls back to back breaking pitches away. You get the feeling as a hitter that the pitcher is afraid of you, that he doesn’t want to challenge you. So, I think the confidence level is raised right here. misses with the 200 and he’s fired three straight outside the strike zone. And there’s the automatic. Helman, the runner at second with one away. Fast ball for a strike. Three and two now. gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. [Music] Man at second and ball four. Two aboard. Ball four. A great back and forth in that at bat. He had to lay off some really close pitches and somehow Boogie found a way to keep the bat on his shoulder right there. I’ll tell you right now, I couldn’t have done it. Simeon in the box here. Lets that one go for a ball. The only adjustment he needs to make is his target. If you aim at the outside corner, that slider’s going to end up way off the plate. Perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it. Try to get him to chase on the change up that time. Could be some action here on this next pitch. Couple runners on. Probably a challenge pitch coming. Two and0 to Cal. Here it comes. That one down the line. Slides for the stop. The feed for one. What a double play that was. Inning over. So no runs here at a base hit. No errors and one left. Midway in inning number seven and it’s time to stretch. It’s the Rangers five and the Angels nothing. We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh. Jacob Web should be a good first match up for him here. He’s been doing a great job against right-handed bats so far this season. They’ve had a lot of trouble squaring him up. So now the angel cleanup hitter Taylor Ward, left fielder Taylor Ward and first offering is fouled off. Swing and a miss. Activity in the bullpen. Kumar Rocker getting loose out there. And that’s outside. Two strike. Let’s go, Angel. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Joe Adell digs in now. Yeah, let’s win. Check swing and he went strike one. Oh, and one. The Rangers leading by five here. The bottom of the seventh. That one fouled off. fouls it back with two strikes. Strike three and that’s two in a row. Very strong coming out of the pin so far as he punches out the first two batters he’s faced in this one. Keep going straight to work. Man, it’s talked about a lot, but relievers are just so electric these days. These aren’t fun at bats if you’re a hitter. And I’m so glad I’m retired. Solair in the box for the third time today as he takes that one off the plate. And the next pitch is way outside. Struggled a little bit in this one. Couple of strikeouts earlier, but doing a much better job in this at bat to get ahead and find a good hitter’s count at 2 and 0. Swings and misses at the sweeper. Two-1. And there’s the ball. All three. Three balls, one strike. [Music] That’s ball four. Tried another fast ball, but missed the spot. Well, two out walks are never good, especially when you’re trying to get back into that dugout, but he’s still in a good spot. He’s just got to refocus and deal with the bottom of this order. Travis Darno digs in. Outside low, ball one. This hitter loves attacking the first pitch, so not giving him something to hit is a good move. That one finds the zone. One and two. [Applause] That one 95 to finish him off. Angels strand one. It’s 5 nothing. Now pitching for welcome back and a new arm on the mound to start the eighth. Sam Bachmann. I think it’s got to be a little tough coming in out of the pin when your guys are trailing so big on the scoreboard. Just doesn’t have the same intensity to it. But he’s got to find a way because these batters count the same for his stats obviously regardless of the score. Garcia leading things off and takes the strike. [Applause] Highfly ball and that one curling foul down the right side. [Applause] swing and a miss. Slider got him for strike three. Well, clearly just anxious right there and understandably so. No two count, you feel like you’ve got a lot of plate to cover and you don’t want to strike out and you end up striking out. That’s just one of those pitches where it’s not over the plate, but because you committed to it as it was leaving his hand, by the time you realized it wasn’t going to be in the zone, it’s too late to hold up your sway, man. 91 on the slider right there. That’s a hard one. That’s a low-end fast ball for some pitchers. At 96, that pitch is in for a strike. Action in the Angels bullpen. Carson Fulmer preparing to come on if needed. Brogden also throwing. Cut out and miss. Struck him out. Coming out of the bullpen throwing BB’s. dominating strike out there on just three pitches. And that’s what a good power pitcher can do to you. If he’s hitting his spots, filling up the strike zone, sometimes he bats over before it really begins. Langford stands in now, looks at that one inside. Two down, nobody on. And we’re in the top of the eighth. Next offer is in for a strike. Oh, I think that pitch surprised all of us. Right down the middle. Doesn’t get a swing. Not very often you see a hitter lay off a cookie like that. Swings through that one for strike two. He’s been great in this one. Eye hand coordination just failed him a little bit right there. And that skips in the dirt in the air right field. Solair gets under it, hauls it in to end the inning. Now pitching for back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. Kumar Rocker. Well, he’s been excellent against left-handed hitters this year and that’s his first test. This looks like a good move to the pin in terms of the matchup. Luis Rango now at the plate. Second baseman Luis Reano ripped in the air left field and a touchdown for a base hit and the leadoff man aboard. Wastes no time there. That pretty much split the zone down the middle and those are the ones where you got to make them pay. Taylor, here comes Chris Taylor. That breaking ball drops in for a strike. If you’re going to get something going, this is the time to do it. You get the leadoff man on. Everybody’s got to look over the shoulder and say, “I’m just going to keep the line moving.” Don’t try to do too much. Ranifo aboard here at first with nobody out. Fly ball center field. Puts it away for the out. And there’s one away. Now batting the shorts stop, Zack. Here’s the shortstop at the plate. Zack Neto. And that’s downstairs. Ball one. Some activity in the bullpen for Texas. Sean Armstrong getting ready to go. Man at first, one away. Come on, Angels. Let’s go. Next offering in there for a strike. And it’s one and one. And that’s a great take right there. Even though it’s a strike with the situation, runner on first base, you want to keep the ball off the ground. And you swing at that pitch, most likely you roll into a double play. can’t get there and it deflects off him. And they’ll have runners at the corners after a one out single. Runners at the corners here. One away. And next for the Angels, Nolan Shadowwell. 0 for three with two fly outs and a ground out. And first off is fouled off. in the air right field. Garcia settles under it, makes the catch. Two down. Up next for the Angels designated hitter, Mike. Now Trout gets a chance to hit. [Applause] Fast for a strike. Corners are occupied with two down. That misses the zone and it’s one and one. That’s a good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, you get a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. That one just misses. Two aboard, two outs. That one a little bit high and that’s ball three. He’s really tightening up his hitting zone with two strikes here. I love it to the right side. Simeon tosses to first. That’s out number three. A couple of hits in the inning, but they can’t get him home through eight full. It’s the Rangers five and the Angels nothing. Now pitching for the welcome back and here comes the closer Kennley Jansen. Well, they need someone to stop the bleeding and keep the score right where it is. Seems like a tough task today with the way this lineup is swinging. It Jonah getting ready to hit 0 for three in this one. [Applause] This one in the air right field hauls it in for the out. Maybe caught that one off the edge just a little bit. Couldn’t quite barrel it up enough to really drive it. Now here is Cody Freeman. [Applause] out in front with the swing. And that is strike one. Jansen, a guy that features an absolute power slider, throws that pitch a lot. He throws it hard and gets a ton of swings and misses. Next one off the plate inside. One ball, one strike. And I think being able to expand with that pitch as you start to offer at it that he can move it just a little bit further away. Before you know it, you’re trying to hit a pitch that’s off the plate. Outside low now. Two balls in a strike. [Applause] out to short. Slings to first in time. Now batting first baseman Ezekiel Duran. Two down, base is empty. Ezekiel Duran stepping in for the Rangers. [Applause] And that’s through there for a strike. One now. Just a cement mixer slider right there. It’s a great pitch to hit if you can recognize it early and jump on it. Two outs. Swang and a ball lifted in the air. Nice grab on the run and that’ll do it. Offense held in check there onto the bottom of inning number nine. 456 coming up. It’s the Rangers five and the Angels nothing. All set for the bottom of the ninth. And now it’s the Angels cleanup batter Taylor Ward. Rocker back to work and delivers outside [Applause] and misses inside. Boo. He never moved cuz he never had time to. But that kind of velocity, you’d prefer that pitcher work away. That one found hard the other way. And that’s the inside edge. And now three, one strike. puts it in the air out towards left center. Helman on the move. Puts it away for the out. One away. Up next for the Angels center fielder Joe Adel. And next for LA, Joe Adele. [Applause] Swinging a ground ball, the sliding play at short. Nicely done for the out. Just so impressed with the movement on that play. Footwork was excellent. The arm strength was there and of course the most important part was getting the out. Angels down to their final out. Jorge Solair the next to hit. He swings and fouls one off. The Rangers leading by five here in the last half of inning number nine. Not even close there. And now it’s even one and one. [Applause] And that one sliced foul. The Halos down to their final strike. That one inside now two and two. Swing and a ball popped in the air and it drops in. Joey gets on base and keeps it going. Pitch was in and off the plate. So hard to do anything with a pitch in that location, but somehow he got the barrel to it and hit it well. Pretty amazing. So a man aboard. Here is Dardo 0 for three. A fly out, a ground out, and a strike out. Delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95. and that drops in for a strike. Just a really nice slider down and in there. He wants to get the hitter thinking fast ball. Speed him up and just subtract some velocity and add a little movement. [Applause] Up and in. got one and two. Well, he missed badly with that 02 fast ball. Hitter has to understand probably wants to try to put him away with that pitch. So, got to stay ready for it. Here’s a one, two hit to right and that should do it. And that’ll do it. Ball game. The Rangers use three pitchers to combine for the shut out. After four wins in a row, you start to think a little bit that you’re on a roll. And that’s the momentum that just takes on a life of its own. Players start hitting up and down the lineup. Never know who’s going to come up with the big hit, who’s going to come out of the bullpen and get the big outs. But it’s a good feeling and you want to extend it. 5 nothing the final in this one. For Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show, I’m John Shambi. Thanks for joining us.
