Minnesota Vikings Training Camp: Day 5 – THE PADS ARE ON

[Music] What’s going on, Jeromes? Practice number five for the Minnesota Fine Vikings is in the books. First day in pads, a beautiful Monday in Egan. It was hot. It was hot. It was humid. It was sunny uh in beautiful southeast metro, Twin Cities. It’s good times, right? But JJ McCarthy backing pads. You love it. You love to see it, right? Also, uh, Khif Halasi doing some quarterback work. Quarterback’s looking good, man. I love it. Uh, some news and notes from the day. Basically, Jordan Addison’s having a beast of a training camp so far. I I I know that he probably Letter of the Law isn’t eligible for Earl of Vegan, but I feel like he should be slash Mr. Mano. It’s good. But just the adjustments that he makes at the catch point as well as him being so fierce in comp into contested catch spots when he’s, you know, 6 foot a buck 80. It’s amazing, man. Uh Justin Jarson, even though he’s up on blocks, loves the fans, love his teammates, like he was he was hyped. He was out there getting everyone fired up and everyone loves him. Like everyone understands that this precautionary hopefully. Yeah. uh you know McCarthy’s ball placement was up point sort of a up and down day but but overall you know authority at the line of scrimmage plus yeah accuracy and and placement especially on touch passes was a concern about his game even though yes he is deadly accurate over the middle but all all of that stuff factors in especially back shoulder throws is looking good now there there was a throw I think it was Lucky Jackson where it could have gone either way where it would have been a touchdown but also if theo Jackson broke on the ball slightly quicker. I think it was a cover two look. It was a pick six. So that that’s how razor thin some of these margins are, man. Also, uh Will Fry seem seemingly practicing without restrictions. Uh was with the ones in 11 on 11s. First day I’ve had a practice, which is absolutely great sign. Uh the defense dominated two-minute drill. So best versus best Grenard Hargrave just blew things up, right? Vikings had no chance. like the situation was it’s like a minute 15 left, one timeout, down three or something like that, but didn’t work out. Also, second team uh second team uh offense was didn’t do much better. Also, noteworthy, too. Wait, we didn’t update this one. Hold on. We have more notes. This is a really good pod right here. There we go. Aha. Aha. Aha. I did it. Mama, I’m coming home. RPazzi. Aha. We We missed one. Uh how was second team quarterback today basically I feel like he he does have the inside track o over ripping even though how has been super uneven. I feel like things are starting to come together for him. Um of course it’s still early in training camp so give him some time. Uh Dallas diamond Dallas turn is going to be a problem. Just absolute quickness off the edge you know contact with quarterbacks but I mean there there’s contact with with the pads on with offensive linemen and just the quickness around the edge. Like I I feel like him becoming the mentee to Jonathan Gernard is going to pay off in spades. I mean Gernard is super souped up around the edge and and Turner, you know, we talked about his speed rush. I mean, is it going to be Brian Burns adjacent? Could he be Von Miller adjacent? Kind of good. Gabriel Murphy also uh was looking really damn good working with the threes and work with the twos and threes and definitely make splash plays. Uh, new math are not out there making plays in 101’s and 111s cause an interception. Zaya Vaughn. Uh, so Zaya Vaughn is super angular. He looks like Cadet Hoggrim out there playing quarterback. Even though we don’t claim Chad anymore. Yeah. Uh, but given his size, given his length, uh, I I feel like it’s weird to say like he’s got length, long arms, super feisty, super aggressive. He he plays a similar style to what Kyrie Jackson rest in power you brought to the table. So, you know, obvious it’s a skill set that Flores and Dante Jones are looking for. So, it’s good. Bro, maybe had the play of the day. You know, look looked uh looked really good moving in the pocket looking downfield. Had nice touch ball uh over to Miles Price, I believe, 31. and we just look good doing it where like Brazmer I I know the Brosmer only had one year run with the Gophers but I I feel like you know obviously the team saw a lot you know both his high football IQ his accuracy I I feel like a lot of the soft skills playing the quarterback position I think Brosmer gets so like he’s got something here you quarterback to the future you know long-term caddy for JJ McCarthy I guess Caleb Boom is going to be quarterback three in a couple years a Mai Blackman rotated in with the ones Isaiah Rogers missed his second practice in a row. Undisclosed. Uh hopefully it’s nothing too serious, but it’s good to see Mai getting some run. Same thing new math as well. Also interesting development. UDFA Logan Brown getting some second team left tackle reps walking watching Sam How’s ass. So it’s important to note there. Uh but the rest sights and sounds of JJ McCarthy looking damn good. Also at the line scrimmage for the next 20 years, two decades of quarterback excellence. old ass JJ McCarthy and his old balls in like 2045 is like just retire and then he’s like I can’t hear you. I got 13 Super Bowl rings. I’m sorry I can’t hear you. Also, uh Diamond Dallas Turner looking good. I I I know letter of the law like Diamond Dallas Turner also shouldn’t be eligible for the Earl Leegan, but he’s looking really damn good. Murf as well. Uh, plus I don’t know, like the Guardian caps, especially uh when you know the the defense wears the white jerseys. It’s um I can’t get I can’t get past it. D they look like Toad from Super Mario Brothers. D something like that. Also, you got Elijah Williams 69. Damn, she fine. Uh the pride of Mercer plus Alex Williams 99. Denil Hunter’s change, man. But Elijah Williams, Alex Williams, Williams wall 2.0. Let’s go. Let’s go, man. They knew what they were doing. Also, Ivan Pace Jr. also in the Guardian Cap. Also looking like Cobra Commander. I love it. Like the Mir visor is great, but there’s something just menacing about the Amber Visor. It’s really good. Also, you know, Taviier Thomas uh on the assault bike. Hopefully, he’s fine. Special team superstar. Justin Friaking Jefferson plus Chuck from the Building. The most recent social media superstar from the Vikings. It’s like, oh, this is the most beloved person in the Vikings organization and then I don’t know some some guy whose brother play quarterback at LSU. I don’t know. I don’t know some of that. Yeah. But also, I love So, you know, Jefferson, you know, up on blocks with a hamstring mild hamstring strain, but you know, a lot of players like would just like sulk on the sidelines or be like whatever, be disinterested, but now he’s out there. He’s fired up. He’s giving dap. He’s firing up the crowd. It’s exactly what a leader does. Like this is not something that you find like a leadership textbook in some He just him. He loves ball. He loves his team. He loves winning, right? And everyone else playing well helps his team win. Exactly. Also, Jordan Mason, hey, uh Bigfoot is blurry. That’s the problem. Just especially when the pads come on like, you know, unpaded practices, it’s tough to gauge how a running back looks. is like, “Oh yeah, he had a 40-yard run except he would have been tackled nine times, including twice beyond line of scrimmage.” But Mason looking good. I mean, just the he’s got more bounce for the ounce. He’s a powerback and can run wide zone. He’s great, man. Also, Allen and Hargrave just the Bash Bros. Like this is this is Dean Portman and this is the other guy Falton Falton Reed and Dean Portman. They’re the Bash Bros from D2 My Ducks. I love it, man. I love a regional reference. It’s good, too. Also, I love that someone traced the the path that they took on the rollerblades gathering all the crew. It was like 200 miles. That I made that up. Doesn’t matter. Anyways, that’s it. That’s it.
