Cubs vs. Brewers Game Highlights (7/28/25) | MLB Highlights

A huge regular season series is on tap between the Brewers and the Cubs. The two teams tied to top the NL Central. And what a pitching matchup in store for you tonight. Jacob Miserowski gets the ball for the crew and it is Matthew Boyd for the Cubs. Jacob Misarowski has been excellent here at home. He has gone 3 and 0. He has allowed just one earned run for essentially an earned run average of zero. Just 0.56 for the Miz here at home. And the first two Cubs have reached. So a golden opportunity for the Cubs here in the first. Two on, nobody out. Bouncer off the leg of the pitcher. It rolls into foul territory and interference is called on the pitcher. It’s going to be a base hit and the bases are loaded and he hit it hard off the leg of Mizarowski. This has been kind of a disastrous start for Miz. Does it looked like he got him on the calf? Maybe the right calf. So now here’s Pete Crow Armstrong with the bases full of Cubs and nobody out. Swinging a miss. Wild pitch coming in to score the game’s first run as Michael Bush. The other runners advance to second and third. Armstrong is out. Swinging and missing at a pitch in the dirt. But the Cubs lead one to nothing on what will almost certainly be ruled a wild pitch. And now the infield halfway. And Carson Kelly with runners at second and third. 02 pitch and he got him looking. Fast ball at 101 on the outside edge. Kelly is shaking his head at James Hoy. He’s not happy with the home plate umpire. That is a big strike out for Misarowski. His second one of the night. The job not done yet. Got to deal with the in half. Tucker’s at third. Suzuki at second. Little dribbler out front of the mound. Msarowski picks it up. Throws it away. And two runs come in to score. The Cubs on top three to nothing. Now, you know, that’ll tell you just what this series means and the adrenaline rush that everybody has knowing the importance of this series even in July. Mizarowski catches this ball, rushes it, does not make a very athletic throw, and it’s not even close. I mean, it’s it’s an uncatchable ball. Three runs for the Cubs. No RBI’s. So, the Cubs not done. He’s at 31 pitches. 32 is the most he has thrown in any single inning so far this year. Nico can wear you out too. He has the ability to put up a long AB. Had a 14 pitch at bat the other night against the Socks. Pitches, six fouls for her. And this will be pitch number 40 in the inning. Swing and a miss. He struck him out. Change up down and in. And he strikes out Nico her. So three strikeouts in the inning for Mizarowski, but three runs across. What a year this guy has. Yeah. Last time out, seven scoreless against Kansas City. Previous start, eight scoreless against the Yankees, one before that, five scoreless against the Cardinals. really got a 23 in scoreless streak going. Back-to-back walks open up the bottom of the first inning and now it’s Contras. This is very unusual for Boyd. He just doesn’t walk anybody. See how patient William Contrus can be. Was just one for 12 in that series against the Marlins on the ground to third. Shaw up with it. Steps on the bag over the first double play. Exactly what he was looking for. 53. And just like that, there’s two outs. Big double play. Five to three on the Twin Killing. Now it’s Christian Yelich not out of the woods yet. Cheerio at second. Bouncing ball left side. Diving stop by Shaw. Gets up and throws him out. Sensational play by Matt Shaw. One of the best plays he’s made as a big league third baseman. And the defense handling things for Matthew Boyd. So Matthew Boyd’s control just not quite as sharp tonight so far as it has been all this season. hasn’t walked more than three in any start this season. In fact, hadn’t walked three batters in a game since April 30th. Ortiz with one swing could make things interesting again. High pop fly. He’s going to get him. Shallow center backpedaling is Swanson. Oncoming Pete Crow Armstrong makes the call and the catch to end the inning. And that’s a leadoff single for Mr. Freelick. He’s been aboard twice. The base runners continue to mount. Is this the inning that the Brewers can cash in? Swing and a miss. struck him out and a good time for the punch out. Career strikeout number 1,000 from Matthew Boyd and he is aware of it. He tosses that ball out of play. Please save that one for the trophy case. Here’s William Contrarus with one on and one out. The pitch breaking ball line drive. Base hit pulled in the left. Brewers now with two base runners in every inning. They have not been able to cross home plate yet. As you said, Lane, this guy feels getable tonight. Can the Brewers get to him? Ripped down the right field line by Yelich. A base hit. It’s going to roll all the way to the wall. Freelick will score. Contrarus lumbers to third. Is held up there on an RBI double by Christian Yelich. The Brewers trail three to one in the third inning. And the scoreless streak is over for Matthew Boyd. Matthew Boyd’s scoreless streak over at 25 in a third inning. And now the tying runners are in scoring position with still just one out for Andrew Vaughn. Down low. He walked him. Bases are loaded. Threw him a 3-1 change up and he bounced it in. And Isaac Collins coming up with the bases loaded. Collins this year two out of seven with the bases loaded. Overall with runners in scoring position though at 283. Lined to right. A base hit. That’ll tie the game. Vaughn headed for third. It’s a brand new contest in Milwaukee. He’s smoking hot. Isaac Collins makes it three to three in the third against Boyd. And now a chance for the Brewers to take the lead. And Isaac Collins fired up. Now Tang, they’re on the corners with one out. Terang lifts it in the air into center field. This should be deep enough to score the run. Backing up Pete for Armstrong. He makes the catch. Tagging from third is Vaughn. Throw comes all the way home. Not in time. Sacrifice fly by Bryce Terang. The Brewers have put up four runs in the third. They’ve got the lead. Tough first inning, but seven strikeouts for him in the game. Stuff was nasty. take away a couple little things and it was another good appearance. Yeah, retired the last 10 in a row and you got to tip your hat to the kid. He could have been rattled. He was rattled a little bit in the first inning I would think but then was able to calm down. He’s going to be able to lead with the lead. A four to three lead now two aboard and they’ll go to work against Pete Crow Armstrong this season against the Brewers. Five homers for PCA and the O2 pitch and a fly ball to right. This is playable for Freeland coming in. They’ll make the catch and it’ll be the Brewers fans to their feet as DL Hall authors a scoreless top of the fifth. Vaughn has had himself a good home stand. Five for 10 with a home run coming into tonight in this home stand. Oh, Vaughn deep left center. He’s done it again. Vaughn is the Brewers pretty new pet. His ninth of the season, his fourth as a Brewer. And the Brewers lead it five to three. What a pickup he’s been. Well, some sad news to pass along. The Cubs deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hall of Fame second baseman Ryan Sandberg. Samberg, 65, passed away today at his home surrounded by his family following a hard-fought battle with cancer. Rhyno will be missed. Such sad news. Yeah, these are these are huge outings be able to go out there and post zeros when you’re still in a game like this. And there’s two away and that’ll get South Freeland to the plate. First pitch is a fly ball deep right by baseball. Salvatore gives the Brewers a six-3 lead with his eighth home run of the season. Brewers flexing their muscles the last couple of innings. Back-to-back innings with homers. Andrew Vaughn now s Murphy goes to left-hander Jared Kanig inherits a couple of runners. He’s inherited 18 runners this year. Six have scored. Faces the tying run Kyle Tucker. Ground ball. Base hit up the middle. Horner around third. Nico to the plate. Throws coming to third. Tag out at third. They get Michael Bush. The run comes in to score. Big throw by Churio. Yeah, right on the money. Good tag by Durban. So give Tucker an RBI hit. There are two outs in the inning though. That run charged to Grant Anderson. And you’ve got a runner at second with two out now for Sea Suzuki. Got him. Good fast ball right by Suzuki. Suzuki was tardy. That ends the inning. And now it’s Yelich who’s got an RBI double. One for three. Yelich drills it deep into a right. This his way back. Tucker looking track wall. Top of the wall. It’s gone. It went over. Oh my. Yell. A two-run home run off the yellow and into the Cubs bullpen. The Brewers have homerred in three consecutive innings. The largest lead of the night. It is eight for the crew. Down and down again and then out. Maybe the final plate appearance for Jackson Cheurio tonight. He’s 0 for two. Two walks and still riding that 20game hitting streak. Fly ball center field. Crow Armstrong back. Caught it. Anybody other than that guy and Cheerio’s looking at 21 straight. Pro Armstrong takes an extra base hit away from Cheerio on a 20game hitting streak. Says see you later. So his home debut for Craig Yoho. So far so good. Two up, two down. So a two out walk issued to BCH and now face Kyle Tucker. Trevor McIll starting to get loose in the bullpen. And that missed a little bit low. And now first and second for the Cubs. Here comes Pat Murphy. He did not want to have to make this move and bring the closer in. But Yoho with two outs. Walks BCH and walks Tucker. That is just something that is inexcusable. Trevor McIll into this ball game. Rock with a fourrun lead. He faces Sea Suzuki with Pro Armstrong on deck and the O2 pitch. Swinging a miss. He struck him out. 101 at the top of the zone. McIll slams the door and the Brewers take game one in this three-game series.

  1. 1 of 3 against the Cubs. . Go Brewers man. This entire team is incredible. Miz yikes 40 pitches in the first inning. You got this kid. Yelich gets 20 HR. Loving this . Brewers are playing well.

  2. Home plate umpires across the league are just awful at their jobs fire all these fools and replace them with A I they do nothing but ruin the game

  3. I feel this is a Quinn Priester situation where Hall goes 2 or 3 innings before Misiorowski comes in and the opposing team can’t catch up on the speed difference.

  4. Every single MLB game is controlled by betting conglomerates. It is obvious if you just take the time to watch. Learn mathematics and probabilities, and you will understand. Wake up and change the world. Stop supporting rigged sports.

  5. 誠也、ミジオロウスキーを避けてくれて感謝だ😮

    体格差を考えれば全力でぶつかってたらIL入りになってただろう。
