Red Sox vs. Twins Game Highlights (7/28/25) | MLB Highlights

Roman Anthony again will lead it off for a second straight day against Simeon Woods Richardson. Sharp comebacker. Knocked down by the right-hander. He scurries to get it. He throws badly. Fires that one into foul territory. It sticks underneath the railing over there and Roman is down to second base in a heartbeat. Great start to this game and that’s what the Red Sox want with Roman Anthony in the leadoff spot. Here’s Bregman, yesterday’s hero. Liner again off the pitcher that’s going to roll on the infield. No play at first. Down to third goes Anthony. Red Sox take an aim at Woods Richardson. Give that guy a chest protector out there. Getting a little dangerous. That one’s hit a lot harder on the line. So two on, nobody out. Red Sox are threatening and brings up Durant out of that three spot. He struck him out. 94 came inside. So that’s a huge out for Simeon Woods Richardson. Fell behind 300 with two on and nobody out. And he roars back to fire a fast ball right by Jiren Durant. Vasquez sets up away and the pitch is pulled to left and shallow. Castro coming in. He’ll make the catch. Anthony will tag and hold and the throw comes in. An early momentum shifting moment in this game. Red Sox two on, nobody out. Was Richardson struck out. Duran story flight out. Now Masatitaka Yoshida and the O2. He struck him out swinging on a splitter. Got himself into the deep end of the pool and then found a way to the swim to the side. Hey, that was an outstanding job by Simeon Woods Richardson. Carlos Narvay, rookie catcher. An outstanding season, a first half that was deserving. Here’s Royce Lewis in foul territory. Long throw. Got him. Smiles all around here at target field and for good reason. Lewis to his right. Got there and man, he made that throw near the coach’s box at third base. Wonderfully done by number 23 at third. That was just a phenomenal play from Mr. Royce Lewis. Way to start this second inning off. So Vasquez is on. He draws a leadoff walk. And here comes Deshaawn Kery Jr. Kurzy. Solid contact to left. This one pushing Anthony to the wall. It is gone. Let’s go. Deshaawn Kery Jr. just his eighth hit all year. Is a two-run homer to left and the Twins take a two nothing lead. Happy for this young man. Has not gotten much opportunity this season. You know he has a ton of ability. I didn’t know he had opposite field power like that though, Cory. Impressive swing for Kery. This is his first start in a game since June 22nd. And it’s two nothing Twins. Great to see for DK. One out. Base is empty for Masa. Masa struck out swinging. His first time on a good splitter. And a base hit into right center field. Red Sox with their third hit against Woods Richardson. So two down and here is Abrau now 0 for his last 16. Asataka taking off in a line drive and a base hit into right field. Yoshida Rounding, he’s into third standing up and the Red Sox have met on the corners. Some good at bats in this inning. Nothing to show for it in terms of runs just yet, but first and third for the second time of the game. Zon is 0 for one with a fly to center. Abrau taking off. Swung on a miss. The throw down and not going to get him. Masatakaco holding a third. Two in scoring position for the Red Sox with two outs in the fourth. The one-two pitch. He struck him out. Climbed the ladder. Shoulder high fast and Raphaela strikes out and the Twins leading by two. Have two out with nobody out here in the fourth. So a walk and a knock. Twins have something cooking here. And now Matt Walner struck out on a breaking ball. Slugs this one to center field. Durant going back. Still going. That’s over his head. That’s off the wall. Late break from Clemens. He’ll only advance 90 ft. So, a missile off the bat of Walner at 112 mph. And Clemens just did not get the best read off the crack of the bat. Does not score. And that loads him up for Tai France. But the Twins have a chance here putting some pressure on in their half of the fourth. France swings, tips it, foul. Narvay hangs on to it. And it’s a strikeout for Richard Fitz. And a huge first out in the bottom of the fourth. Second strikeout for Fitz. Base is still loaded. Then here’s old friend Christian Vasquez. Ground ball tailor made for a double play. That’s one. That’s two. Vince gets out of the inning. The bases were loaded. Nobody out. And he escapes Houdini style. Abraham Toro leading off the fifth innings. That one hit toward the alley. That’s going to drop down on the grass. He’ll take a wide turn. Content with a single though. And a nice start here to the fifth inning. Toro with a base hit. And that’s going to be ball four on four pitches. Red Sox trying to build something. Lead off single by Toro. Now ball four to Roman Anthony. Red Sox have two on and nobody out. And Bregman up. Like the sound of that. Swung on and driven high and deep into left center field and is back and out of here. He does it again. Alex Bregman is ridiculous. A threerun homer and the Red Sox lead it three-2. How good is this guy? Another go-ahead shot and that was demolished. 418 ft. Just every night he’s doing something to help you win ball games. Socks in the lead 3-2. There’s one away. And here’s Lornick to back. Ground ball at third. Bregman fires across and got him. Do it. A standout play by Bregman again defensively. Bregman’s just god level right now. I mean it’s unbelievable. News flash, Alex Bregman really good at baseball in one full inning of work here. He has shown what his value is to this team. So Lewis one out single, his second hit tonight. And that Walner spot due up. He will not bat. They’re going to their branch. And they’re going to have Harrison Bader hit from the right side. So Toro will go back to the bullpen with a runner at first and a very hot hitter about to dig in as Jorge Alkala traded to the Red Sox back in mid June takes over for Boston. So Narvay is known for his defense. A wild pitch and that was a pass ball and nearly hit him. So Alkala comes in a wild pitch, a pass ball now a walk and the Red Sox are in some trouble here up 3-2 but the Twins have them at the corners with one out in the sixth inning. They’ll send up Ty France, the first baseman, 0 for two tonight. Bader takes off. The pitch is inside and no throws. The Twins have the go-ahehead run in scoring position. Here it is. 3-1 almost to the back stop for another walk. Alcala has loaded the bases for the Twins with just one out in the sixth inning. Well, the Twins had the bases loaded in the fourth. They had him loaded with nobody out. France struck out. Vasquez into a double play and it was a Houdini for Fitz. They’re loaded again for Vasquez who I’m sure relishes the opportunity. Fly ball left center and room for Durant. Catch is made. Lewis will tag. Throw comes into third base and it’s a game tying sack fly for Christian Vasquez. And it’s a three-3 game. Good job by Basi. Those are the best high fives. You’re able to get that runner in from third base. William Brayu. Two singles tonight. Two for three. Float that one behind third. Lewis giving chase into left field. Can’t get it. Abrau taking off for second and he is going to get in there as it spins away. He’s going to be safe at second. But initially he was out. He was dead. Red Sox catch a break. So it came free and here’s Sadon trying to pick him up. Sadon’s in a skid right now trying to bust out. What a time it would be to do it here. 01 pitch on the ground towards shortstop. Should be the inning. Kareah has this one. He throws to first and Brock Stewart does the job. A two out double but nothing more. Joan Durant will come in to pitch looking to keep this a 33 game here in the ninth inning. I mean there’s a very real possibility this is the last time this guy who has been fantastic and become fan favorite pitches in this uniform in this ballpark. And he does walk him. So the Red Sox have the leadoff man on in the ninth inning. Red Sox are going to run for Toro. It’ll be David Hamilton. Here’s Roman Anthony. Tie game top nine. Runner goes a strike. The throw is off into the outfield. Hamilton hanging onto the bag. He tried to get up and run to third. Couldn’t do it as he slipped. Well, Kareah digked him also. Kareah made him think. This is a veteran play. Savvy play by an infielder who’s been around for a long time as you keep the glove down on the hand. So, Hamilton doesn’t know that the ball’s in the outfield. Look, he’s just trying to get back. He thinks it’s in the gloves, right? It’s a savvy play. Hamilton runs. The pitch is high throw to third. Not in time. Head first slide for Hamilton. Wow. Electric speed. A steal of second and of third and the go ahead run is at third with nobody out. Infield in now for Roman. What a test for him. Swing and a base hit into right center that brings in Hamilton. Roman Anthony with an RBI single and the Red Sox are on top again. Four to three in the ninth. Kids are real deal Obie. I know we already knew it. I mean, this is against one of the best arms in baseball. And the rains came just as we were about to play the bottom of the ninth. The wind started to really cook. We had lightning and then some really heavy rain for a time. There’s a 90minute delay. And now Hicks to take over in the bottom of the ninth inning. Lines it to right field and a leadoff single for Deshawn Kery Jr. So Kery who had seven hits all year has two tonight and the tying run is on. So Kery had the eight pitch at bat singled and in consecutive pitches Hicks has hit Gasper and Willie and that caught him flush on the leg. Now meeting at the mound as Carlos Korea is coming up. Line shot scooped up play coming home. Got him there. Wow that was a bullet and Bregman equal to the task fired a strike back to home to get that out and one down. So still loaded up for Brooks Lee. Incredible drama here. down 02. Line to left field slicing and that’s a fair ball. Twins are going to win this game. Gasper scores. Castro scores and the Twins win in walk-off fashion. Brooks Lee does it again. 54 the final. Brooksley knocking in two with an opposite field base hit and the Twins win after a 90minute rain delay.

  1. Stayed for the ending and it was well worth it. I screamed my head off during the 9th. It was crazyyyyy (On a side note there was a girl a few seats from me that I thought was cute but was too scared to ask for socials, im leaving her notes on a few posts to see if she responds lol)

  2. Im so sick of Christian Vazquez. The guy is a miserable catcher and hitter as well. Does he ever throw out base runners? Like ever? At least if he was an amazing hitter it could be worth it, but Id rather just have a good defensive catcher if the guy only has to hit as well as Vazquez anyway.
