Blue Jays vs. Orioles Game Highlights (7/28/25) | MLB Highlights
The Toronto Blue Jays have the best record in baseball at 63 and 43. 5 and a half games ahead of the second place New York Yankees. They’ve won eight out of their last 10, 18 of their last 23. So, a big test tonight for Zack Efflin. And now Efflin starts the game with a strikeout. A terrific curveball with some depth to retire Lucas. George Springer, frequent swinger, puts a first pitch cutter up in the air to Cedric Mullins in center. Having a down season by Vlad standards. That’s what an 855 OPS means to Vlad Jr., one of the hardest hitters in baseball, who smokes this sweeper on a hop to shortstop. And Henderson retires him. Terrific start for Ein. Nine pitches for a one, two, three. Chris Bassid has been really good lately. We’ll see if that can continue into a ballpark that has given him trouble in the past. Swinging a miss. Tied him up with a cutter in and he gets him. One down. Orioles have got a base hit. One out. Nothing. Nothing here on the last of the first inning. And Gunnar Henderson stepping up to the plate. And Henderson hits one in the air to shallow left field. And a nice sliding catch by Lerido covering a lot of ground for the second out. What a play from Joey Loperito out in left field. Oh, there are two outs. And now we get to hear Adrien Robertson. And now it’s Adley Rutman. A long overdue announcement. A pat on the back from Tyler Heinaman. And this Orio crowd very happy to see their former number one overall pick back and healthy. One of the leaders on this team and I know everybody’s excited as we are to have him back in Baltimore. Swing and a miss. A slow curveball at 71 m anph from Chris Basset. Bassid punches out a pair around one hit in a scoreless bottom of the first. Bobette digs in to the righty box at Oral Park at Camden Yard. Bob Bashette picks up tonight where he left off yesterday. He was five for five in yesterday’s series finale in Detroit and he’s got a base hit his first time up today. Oh, Hearn slaps one the other way. They make it eight for 14 against Bassid and he’s in the book with a leadoff single. Two outs and Cedric Mullins will try and keep the inning going. Another 3-2. Mullins drives one high deep right field. Home run number 101. Dead Central off one of the umbrellas in right field. But I’m going to tell you what, there’s 216 stitches on the baseball and Cedric Mullen just covered every one of them with that swing right there. And the Orioles, they have got a two nothing lead on the 408t shot by Mullins. Bases empty. Two outs. Bottom of the second inning. Now Kobe Mayo. That’s a long drive to left field up off the moon and into the bird bath. Mullins and Mayo mashing and mashing. Backto back home runs for a three nothing lead. Hey now, that’s what I call leaning back on one right there. And this is the eighth and nine hole hitters. And quickly two outs in the inning for Efflin. And again, the one two to Lucas and he sends this one high and deep to right. It is going to go. Lucas gets the Blue Jays on the board with a third inning solo shot. Three to one for the Orioles. Top of the third inning. How about that swing from Nathan Lucas? Hit that thing 398 ft just over that wall in right field. 100 miles an hour off the bat. And it’s a walk for Springer. So, Springer at first, two down. And here’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the air to deep center. Mullen’s back at the wall. Jumps and it’s gone. Guerrero has hit it out to center field. And the Blue Jays have quickly come back to tie it. We saw a couple swings in Detroit that started to look like the A swing from Vlatty Guerrero Jr. And he just totally leans on this fast. He’s on time. The direction is perfect. number 15 on the season as he continues to swing the bat well out of the All-Star break. And Bette, boy, when you’re hot, you’re hot. He’s now got a hit in seven consecutive at bats. So, after the single, a walk, first and second, nobody out. And here comes Adley. Adley Rutman in his first game since June 19th, swings away and drives the ball to deep center field. It will hit the base of the wall. Westber is in. Henderson hot on his tail and he is safe standing. Welcome back Adley. Two bases, two ribbies on a deep drive to center and the Orioles retake the lead. Adley Crushman is back in the house, folks. 10th double of the year. It would be a double win to knock Basset out this early. Not just for tonight, but with a double header coming tomorrow. Eat up that Jay’s bullpen. Well, starters are going to be ultra important in this series. He is on the ropes here in the third in Baltimore. Lauriano up the middle. That is hit hard for a base hit. Rutsman’s waved around third and Lucas will lob it into second. Rammon Lauriano with a razor sharp single up the middle and the Orioles have backto back three-run innings and once more a three-run lead. And that’s that for Chris Basson on a Monday night. He’s done. A tough night here in Baltimore for Chris Bass. Tyler Heinman in the batter. Two on, nobody out. The third baseman, Westbrook, has crept in. The first baseman, Mayo, is playing deep behind the runner. Gets it down. The only play is to first and they’ll get him. But that’ll be a sacrifice for Heidi to advance both runners. Now Wagner 10 pitch lined and knocked out at second. Holiday coming to the plate from third. Ernie Clement. The throw on to first to get Wagner, but he has an RBI ground out. And the Blue Jays have one back and now trails six to four. Here’s Nathan Lucas who homerred on a curveball down his last time up. His eighth home run of the season. Lucas takes a 3-1 change up to center. Just keeps flying out there and Mullins plucks it out of the sky. No way. Yes way. Are you kidding me? He took a home run away and he keeps the Orioles in front. Sandric Mullins will walk back to the Orioles dugout and get a standing O. He was clear over the fence and dead center. He is on for Bo Bette who has a hit in his last seven at bats. The Blue Jay record is eight. Busett with a looper to shallow center field. Mullins coming on and it drops. His third hit tonight. And now he will become the fifth Blue Jay ever. He’s smirking a little. Eight consecutive hits now for Bo Bashette to tie a franchise record. It might be the end of the line for Zack Efflin. Could be his final oral start with a deadline Thursday. We’ll see. Effin leaves with the lead after four and a third. Time for Corbin Morton now. Martin making his sixth appearance of the year. He’s been solid. Corbin Martin backto back Ks and he strands two men on base. One out now. Adley Rutman moving around to the right side. Well, just keep it fair. Why not? Take that. Inside the chalk. Adley Rutman back in the big leagues. Looking like he never left. It’s a double double. Those numbers against Toronto career keep getting better. He’s probably opsing over a thousand against the Jays right now. 27 extra base hits. Oh, her right center field. The first pitch. Left on left. Lash. Rutsman will score. Ro Hearn will jog in to second with his second hit. Backto back doubles, backto back pitches. Orioles swell the lead back to three. Now left-handed pitching is why Lauriano is here, but he’s hit lefties and righties this season. And now Lauraniano fiveiron to deep left way gone. Little by little, the Orioles are going to knock another Blue Jay reliever out of the game. Lauriano jumps back into a tie for the team lead with his 15th home run. And they’re pouring it on in the fifth. Their third three-run inning of the night. My goodness. Huh? Thought that ball was touched, too. Three straight hits. Now four straight have reached with Cowser getting on base and Mullins coming up. Mullins to right field. How about another extra base hit bangs around in the right field corner. Cowser held to third. Mullins into second. Brendan Little had allowed six extra base hits all season. He’s given up four to the last five Orioles. Tommy Nance is the new pitcher for the Blue Jays. Mayo dribbler contact play. Whoa. Nance goes to first. Wow. Cowser was right in front of him and Tommy Nance decided to go to first base. A run scores instead. Two quick outs for Colin Selby. Now Bo Bashette deep in the hole. It’s short and it’s off the glove of Henderson. And we’ll wait to see how they score it. If it’s a hit, it’ll be nine consecutive hits for Bette in a new franchise record. And it is. They have given him a base hit. So Bo Bashette is four for four tonight after going five for five yesterday. Now for to face Colton Cowser. They’re not booing, they’re mooing. His name is Cowser. Deep left center. Colton Cowser. Oh yeah. Into the bullpen. A left on left home run for Cowser. A big hit he’s been looking for. The Orioles have been waiting for. And Cowser cracks his ninth home run of the year. Up and into the glove of Yogi Palco. Bullpen catcher to keep pouring it on in the seventh. Now George Springer 0 for three with a walk. Ooh. And a fast ball runs up and in and hits Springer. This ballpark is silent. Nobody feels worse obviously than Kate Strad about it. The last thing that he wanted to do. Little assistance making his way off the field and hopefully Springer is going to be okay. Hit by pitch that has really cast a Paul over what was a celebratory night for eight innings. Like I said, it’s an ugly part of the game, but if you’re Kate Stout, you can’t lose your aggressiveness. Bouncing ball bashette. This will be a game ending double play. Six- to3 turn by Henderson and Mayo. A big night for the Orioles offense as they take the opener from the Blue Jays 11 to four.

I hope Springer is ok. Go Jays! 🐦
Every Blue Jays pitcher gave away Home Runs
Injuries part of the game ,Giménez coming back, Varsho bout a month away,
Hitting a batter like that should be a penalty; that's just criminal!
When will Alejandro Kirk return to the major leagues?
This is the real blue jays
This is where the long slide begins. They just got blown out by a team from the basement of the division.
Bichette 5 for 5 Sunday in a LOSS. 4 for 5 Monday in a LOSS…🤣🤣🤣
congrats Bo 8 hits in a row! 💙
I tried without success to find out the record for consecutive hits by an individual player. Anyone know?
So many plyers saying goodbye in style
Orioles took full advantage of gift batting practice pitching by the Jays.
In the last game Jays pitchers did well and the rest of the team seemed to be asleep. Today the pitching was horrible and the rest of the team seemed to have woken up somewhat. Lets hope the next game everyone is awake and awesome both defensively and offensively.
Hope Springer is ok and will only miss a couple of games. I'm sure he has a concussion. That hit to the head would ring anyone's bell oowww.🔔
This is just a little hiccup. Go, Jays!! 🇨🇦
yeah take out Springer cause you're in last place in the division, very classy
At 9:6, that wasn't a hit.
Mighty Mouse! He's our man! If he can't rob a home run no one can! In other news, Bo Bichettte has made a deal with the devil…
That's a birdfight. I hope both teams make the playoffs, but Toronto looks cooked.
I stopped watch in the 6th hopefully spingers ok, tomorrow we got to rest and get a win and really I get it’s a accident but jays got to throw at them in retaliation
That has to be the scariest thing in sports…Hope the dude is fine..
The Jays during the regular season, statistics generally suggest they win against the better teams and lose more to the weaker teams. They kind of used all their energy and luck this past month and is bound to skid. I am not surprised if they get swept.
Montreal were tearing up the league in the early 80's and they had the best outfield in baseball. Carl Valentine got beaned, and never played the same again. Let's hope Springer can hit over 250 rest of the season, but I bet he doesn't.
They knew bichette would break the record but they also know he wouldn't score a run or record an RBI. Wake up kids, betting controlled every aspect of baseball.
Jays pitching looked like they copying the Yankees (spoken as a Yankees fan sadly)
Blue Jays now officially choking end of season. 50/50 if we get in play offs
Game is for the birds
If you thought that the jays are untouchable well watch this game
the Jays worst issue is inconsistent pitching… against crappy teams.
so a guy hitting over .300 you get to bunt… then have a guy hitting .200 swing away. then Clement gets robbed. what the heck.
The Baltimore Orioles are 48-58⚫️🟠⚪️🐦⬛
Bassit has been handing hrs the first 2 innings for Almost the entire season and Apparently nobody in the pitching staff care to fix or point that problem to him. Sherzer Is just canadian verlander so help us god. Also now every single reliever that Is supposed to do damage control just produce More damage. I've been saying It before they took the first place. the jays have a 6 to 9 inning pitching problem that has to be solved if they have any intentions into making It to the playoffs… Apparently they won't. Fix It and they Will not make It pass october.
Terrible loss to take against a bottom team. Jays pitching looked terrible bassit couldn’t throw a pitch to save his life. I hope this isn’t a cold streak coming. Hope Springer is ok
No es agradable perder, sin dudas.
Es normal que Baltimore quiera echarle a perder la fiesta a los Jays.
Pero HOY será el desquite con los dos juegos. Hay que ganar ambos!!!
Let's go O's
And the slum begins. The jays can’t seem to do good with the orioles, it’s like a curse.
If an Oriole hitter gets beaned the next game under any circumstances, everyone will say it’s retaliation. Pathetic.
Yes we got them back
Cedric Mullins is locked in.
Just commenting as I’m watching. It laws 8 hours to drive which is why it’s not very well used. Looks a lot better than I imagined though
Let's go O's!
Funny seeing these jays fans complain about injuries lol dude the O's have been OBLITERATED by injuries the last 2 years. Get over it
Bassitt was throwing meatballs. Very inconsistent
I thought Cedric was going to get that first one. Love watching him play
Jays have 3 L's of 6 against the White Sox in their last two series, 2 of 3 against the A's. Let's hope playing down to the level of the bottom-feeding teams does not become a trend. Lots of winnable games against the O's, Rockies and KC over the next few weeks. Go Jays Go!
