I still believe in Mark “I took that walk personally” Vientos.
I think there’s an interesting case for vientos. If we trade him, what do we trade him for? We should keep Baty and Ronnie at 2B/3B so we trade him for a CF platoon player or a pitcher?
It’s just not a smart long game move. He’s having a down year but it’ll be next year before we know if this is a sophomore slump or last year was a fluke.
I like Vientos. Good guy, and has shown flashes of being a very good player. There’s not really anything for us as random people on Reddit to remember or forget because we’re not the ones making the decision to trade him or keep him, or trade or keep anyone else
I’m not opposed to trading Vientos in the right package. But I’m not looking to trade him for the sake of trading him.
If his bat is heating up, he has value as a DH who can stand at one of the corners if needed. With the uncertainty of Jesse Winker and inevitably of another Marte injury, I’d rather we have Vientos in the lineup over Jared Young.
