MLB LIVE🔴 Atlanta Braves vs Kansas City Royals – Jul 28, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
John Shami and Chris Singleton on the call. The first half of the All-Star break is behind us and partner, it’s go time in the second half. And if you want to be playing meaningful games at the end of September, you got to put your head down and grind for the next eight weeks. The Atlanta Braves going up against the Kansas City Royals. All right, we’ll be back to get this one started after this. So, just about set now and towing the slab, Seth Lugo. What should we keep an eye on here? Well, he’s allowing just over one base runner per inning, which is really good, especially for a starter because these hitters get to see you two, three, maybe even four times in a start. So, just shows you how deceptive and how effective his stuff is. We’ll see if it’s that way in this one. Jurgson Pro leading things off and takes a shot 640. That’s off the inside corner and a count even one and one. And he gets tied up right there. I would throw him another breaking ball. Try to go again with a fast ball. Slightly elevated. He just having a hard time catching up. And now the count is even. Well, this is a guy that can be frustrating for pitchers because he fouls off so many pitches and grinds out the atbat. I’m sure there’s sometimes where a pitcher would rather just give up a first pitch single than have to waste six or seven pitches on one hitter. And that’s the swing. It’s a strike out. Matt Olsson up to the plate. And first offering is fouled off. One out. Base is empty. Let’s go. Pitch in the dirt. It’s a ball in two strikes. And there’s a ball. And that one is downstairs. And it’s a full count. Gets a piece and stays alive. Strike three. And that’s two in a row. It’s a strike out, but they’ll be in good shape if they make their outs as difficult as that one. Those grinding abs take a toll on a pitcher as the game goes on. Drake Baldwin stands in with two away as he takes a ball. and another ball. Back to back breaking pitches away. You get the feeling as a hitter that the pitcher is afraid of you, that he doesn’t want to challenge you. So, I think the confidence level is raised right here. And now two and one. Well, they came right at him right there. Challenged him with the two fast ball. I’m not sure exactly what he was looking for, but got to imagine that’s a confidence booster on the mound. You’re in that hitter’s head a little bit. Hit hard on the ground to short. Sends it across to first and it’s a one, two, three inning. End of a half inning of play. No score. Back here in Kansas City and towing the slab in this one, Spencer Strider. And Chris, pitching on the road has not been particularly kind to him. Yeah. Man, you don’t want to be too quick to say that he can’t pitch on the road. Sometimes, you know, it’s just a matter of luck. It’s not having a feel difference between the bullpin bound to the bound out there on the playing field. Don’t know what it is, but I know this. He’s got good enough stuff to overcome and get it done on the road as well as at home. So, we’ll see what he’s able to do in this one. Adam Frasier leading things off and takes a strike. And that’s pushed foul off to the left and out of play. Strider deals and that one upstairs. Ball one. Clearly didn’t come out of his hand the right way. Left that curve ball way up. Up the middle. It’s through for a hit. So runner aboard to start the inning. Well, that certainly feels good when you can win the at bat after being down in the count up against it with two strikes right there. Really nice job staying up the middle with his approach. He didn’t try to do too much with the pitch. Just shot it through the infield. Mike El Garcia will hit next. The shorts stop takes the ball. Nobody out. runner at first. Fouled off down the right side that catches the zone for a strike. And it’s one and two. That one missed. This one popped up. Foul ground first base side has room and he makes the catch. And here now the lineup for the Royals. This group was shut out their last game. So we’re going to see if they can bounce back with a better effort here today. And Boo, it can get in your head a little bit when you get shut out. You’re frustrated. You’re seeing that consecutive streak of innings you haven’t scored. And you want to get off to a great start. Score early because if you don’t, you feel like it could linger into two consecutive games, which no one wants to be a part of. Vinnie Pasquentino in the box now as he leaves that one up high. The next offering misses and now two and0. Oh, he’s really working him away this at bat. Sometimes take a little bit off velocity. Try to get a roll over something on the ground. Stay away from that big hole on the right side of the infield. Next offering in there for a strike and it’s two and one. fouled off left side. Come on, Casey. This one smashed down the right field line. That’s a fair ball and it’s getting into the corner. Lead runner holds at third. So, two runners in scoring position and just one out. Oh, that’ll make you feel good as a hitter right there. Loud contact leads to the double. I mean, you could tell it had extra bases written all over it as it jumped off of his stick. And now it’s Salvador Perez to the plate. Golden opportunity right here. 10. Skips in and excellent work to corral that one. Could have been dangerous. Second and third here. One away. Ground ball and that’s through the infield. One runs in. Fires to the plate. Save. In comes the run from second. It’s two zip. Oh, that’s a big attack coming through in the clutch to drive in a pair. Once you get the ball by the pitcher, there’s a lot of base hits up the middle, even on ground balls. So, a nice job to use that big hole and get himself a hit. One down, runner at first. Jack Kaggle Leone steps in for the Royals. Perez the runner at first with one gone in the inning and that is out of play. And the next pitch is way outside. That’s a little bit low. Three balls, one strike. And ball four, two aboard. Well, interesting. He went with the off speed and walked the hit. Man, you got to challenge a guy with the fast. Two on, one out. Here’s the rookie right fielder, John Ra. And that one’s a little bit low. Ball one. Could use a ground ball here. Something in the infield. Runner at first base. Get two. Get out of this. Strider out there on the mound for this one. And he’s a guy who had a really impressive college career but needed Tommy John’s surgery while playing for Clemson. Next offering is in for a strike. You know, Boo Strider spent time with a sports psychologist at Clemson while rehabbing from his surgery. They talked a lot about the concept of purpose and the importance of having a defined goal for everything you do. You know, it’s something Strider now preaches himself. Got him. That’s out number two. Just locked him up right there for the second out. And that’s an at bat he’s probably going to be thinking about for a little while. Didn’t pull the trigger. Not how you want to go down in an RBI spot. So now you got to hope your teammate behind you can pick you up. Freddy Fine steps in for the Royals. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. Ball one. Two on, two outs. Fly ball to right. White makes the catch and the inning is over. But two runs for him and they jump ahead. Second inning coming up here in Kansas City. It’s the Royals two and the Braves nothing. Back here at Kaufman Stadium. So, here’s Murphy. Now, Murphy will handle the catching duties in this one. Batting in the cleanup spot, and he was a third round pick back in 2016. Lugo back to work in for a strike. And it’s 0 and one. No balls, one strike. And that curve ball drops in there first try. Probably the best one we have seen. Throwing it where he wanted to have a nice tight spin to it and a teaser just off the edge of the plate. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Really nice sequence with a quick strike out right there. Couple of breaking balls to get ahead 02. Then pump the hard stuff by him for strike three. And I like that he didn’t mess around. Sometimes guys, they like to get too cute. They waste a pitch here or there and then find themselves back into a hitter’s count. But right there, he had him right where he wanted him and pitched him aggressively to get the strike out. Azie Alb’s up to the plate. And a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. outside. Swing and a miss. This guy’s got such a good sinker. As a hitter, you’ve got to look up in the zone. If you look down, you’re going to be chasing stuff in the dirt. Just missed the inside corner. The countdown two and two. That’s down and in. on the ground right side throws to first. Two up, two down in the top of the second. Batting six, the center fielder, Michael Harris. And now the center fielder, Michael Harris II. He’s going to finish with a new careerhigh in stolen bases. Chris That’s in there. And that is strike one. That’s excellent location on the fast ball right there early in this game. If he can do that all game, should be a good outing for him. Next offering is in for a strike. Two out space is empty. Next offering way off the plate. And that’s outside in the air to left center and makes the grab. And that is that and we’re back to the bottom of the second and now it’s Kyle Isbel. Kyle Isbel. He swings and fouls one off. outside and it’s a ball and a strike. Back door breaking ball just missed right there. And boy, umpire didn’t give him the call. I bet you if he throws it again, hitter knows he’s going to have to swing it. And it finds its way through for a hit. And the leadoff man aboard, Matt Knight. Timing on the swing was good. Able to shoot the ball up the middle. Didn’t square it up as much as he probably would have liked, but that’s a good approach paying off. Here is the rookie third baseman. It’s interesting. He plays kind of a a power spot defensively, but runs pretty well. So, when you’re looking at that position, you’re not expecting someone that has maybe above average speed, but he does. first pitch and he just misses. And I think that skill set really upgrades the position because when you have that kind of speed, it makes the whole team that much better. Checks over to first. Back safely. Isbel aboard here at first with nobody out inside. Almost got him. Ground ball could be two. Off balance feed. There’s one to first. Not in time. Great effort there. Well, an aggressive slide at second base, but it was legal. I like it because you’re trying to break up the double play and it looked like the slide impacted the throw a little bit. Nice job by the base runner. Back to the top of the lineup. Here’s Adam Frasier. Lined and that’s a base hit. They fired in quickly. So it’s first and second and only one away. Michael Garcia. Michael Garcia steps in for the Royals. 0 for one so far. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. And a right-hander deals. And that’s in for a strike. And a count one and one. Slider misses outside. Tough spot right here. Couple runners on two ball count. You can’t nibble, but you have to execute and finish your pitch. If you leave something out over the plate, it’s going to bring in some runs. Runners at first and second with one gone. Bottom half of inning number two. He goes down looking. Now first baseman Pquentino steps in for the Royals. One for one with a double and a run scored. Ground ball to the right side and foul ball. Swing and a miss and it’s on two. Well, I know they’ve gotten out to an early lead, but you don’t want to take these opportunities for granted with two outs. Still lock in with a quality at bat. Drive in that run. You may not have another runner in scoring position the most of this ball game. Here’s a one-two. And that just misses. still in the second already of 44 pitches. So, some concern there. Spoils a two strike pitch. And he’ll see another the two- two. That one ripped and that gets down into the gap. One run across coming home. He’ll score. Two runs are in. Picks himself off a couple of ribbies. a really nice balanced swing on it. And when you can rope one into the gap like that, you’re thinking extra bases from the first couple of steps out of the box. And he’ll feel real good about that one. So runner at second, two down. And now it’ll be the cleanup spot for the Royals. Salvador Perez. That’s too low. And that’s ball one. right through there for a strike. One-1, two outs and one in scoring position. Worm Burner into the outfield for a knock. And they hold him at third. 90 ft away with two out. Now batting the designated hitter, Jack. So here’s the Royals DH. Jack Kaggle Leone walked his first time. That’s in for a strike at 95 and one. just off the inside edge. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Bryce Elder getting ready to come in for manager Brian Snicker. Runners at the corners with two outs out towards right center. That’s well struck and it’s into the gap. One run is in. headed for the plate. The relay save at the plate. It’s 6 nothing. Nicely done. Brings home two. Solid swing from start to end. On time with everything. Really good balance. Nice extension. And he made it out front for the line drive. Not. Ryan Snicker out of the dugout and he’s going to make a change. Spencer Strider gives way and this is one he’d like to forget. Back with a new arm after this. Now pitching for new pitcher now Bryce Elder. He’s having a ton of success facing left-handed hitters this season. So this seems like a smart move to turn to him with a lefty at the plate. Man in scoring position with two away. And now the right fielder John Rae. He’s 0 for one inside. And that is ball one. Kaggle Leone on it. Second with two down. There’s the strike. One ball. One strike. out into left center for a line drive. Base hit coming home. Here’s the throw to the plate. He will score. It’s seven to nothing. Freddy Fine steps in for the Royals. Fly to right. His first time the other way. They stopped the lead runner at second. Now two on with two outs. The center fielder number 28 Kyle. And next up for the Royals, Kyle Isbel one for one with a single so far. Popped up to the left into foul ground. That is the inning. All in all, 10 come to the plate. They bat around and five score. We head on now to the top of the third. It’s the Royals seven and the Braves nothing. Top half of the third inning. Here’s the third base. Nacho Alvarez Jr. Bill. Every pitcher wants run support and having a lead is nice, but it can be challenging for some pitchers. I think keeping the mindset to attack instead of trying to be too fine and have too much finesse. Go after hitters and get quick outs. Foul ball. Foul ball still 0 and2. Got him. He’s notched four strikeouts now. Really love the pitch sequence right there. I’m telling you what, pitcher and catcher on the same page right now. Eli White. stepping in. Eli White and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike. inside corner and that’s called a strike. I understand you want to try to gauge that guy’s fast ball, but you also have to be aggressive and ready to hit in your zone. Now you’re in a tough spot. Inside just missed. Swings and misses on the fast ball up in the zone for the strike out. Thought it was a pretty good pitch. Top of the strike zone. We’re seeing more fast balls in that location. hitters, especially with two strikes, have to be ready to pull the trigger. And now Nick Allen, first pitch misses. One ball, no strikes, fast ball for a strike. looked pretty good as far as being in the strike zone, but I’m sure as a hitter not too good with where it was located. Very top of the strike zone. Middle away. So, a foul ball makes it one and two. Finish him. And he hits a ground ball right side, handles, throws the first and it’s a one, two, three inning for the Braves. And the Braves go down quietly. They continue to trail 7 nothing. And welcome back to the ballpark as we go to the last of the third. So up now for Kansas City number two. Swinging a high-fly ball right field. Harris makes the grab. One pitch and one out. Up next for the Royals. So the Royals batting order turns over. Now here’s the lead off hitter for the Royals, Adam Frasier. He’s two for two and that one clips the corner. Was good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge. And that’s one of those if you swing at it, he had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. Pulls it in for the out. He put a really good swing on that pitch and hit the ball hard. You know, line drives won’t always find a hole, but the more you can hit the ball like that with good exit low, the better off you’re going to be in the long run. Garcia up for the third time here. Watches that one miss. Strike one. This guy’s sink has so much drop in it. It’s almost like a split finger fast ball. Instead of just weak contact and balls on the ground, he gets swings and misses. The short stop takes the ball. Next offering is downstairs. Foul ball there. Line drive base hit and that extends the inning. Hitting is really easy for some guys. One thing that I can see already, his bat stays in the zone on plane for an extended period of time. And guys like that, they have a high contact rate and they have more barrels because of that bat being on plane. And even when you don’t get it great, it’s still hit hard enough to dunk something in like that in front of the center fielder. Garcia off of first with two away. Oh, he doesn’t get the call. One and one. One call. One strike on the ground to third. Alvarez zips it across. That’s a third out. Royals leave one and they hold a seven nothing lead. As we go to the top of the fourth, Proar climbs in on that left side. Proar and the first offering a fast ball for a strike quickly in an 02 hole. You’re going to have to give something up here in terms of power if you want to put the ball in play with any authority. And that one is inside ball one. O2 fast ball way out of the zone. I think he’s trying to speed him off. Got to stay back. Off speed’s probably coming. Fights that one away. Still one and two. fights it off. He’ll see another. That one just misses. Now two and two. and delivers outside. Full count. Battling here as he fouls it away. Swing and a miss. struck him out. He battled for a long time, but it finishes with a strike out. You can’t be mad at yourself after anat. Here’s Matt Olsen. He was a strikeout victim his first time. Just missed. Next pitch inside and it’s two and 0. Go looks more focused at the plate and working the count after that first at bat strikeout. That one outside and now 3 and 0. Base is empty. One away. Top half of inning number four. And that’s outside ball four. And that’s how they get their first base runner of the game. Definitely lost the handle during that sequence. Four pitches for the walk. And that last one didn’t even threaten the zone. Catcher might want to go talk to him. And a foul ball. That one’s upstairs. Ball one. Man at first. One away. Fouled off and they’ll do it again. Well, he’s having a tough time getting a pitch by him. As a hitter, you feel pretty confident that you’re seeing different pitches still able to make some type of contact. That one off the mark. And that’s ball two. Two strikes. Five foul balls in this at bat so far. And these two are going headtohead. You can see the crowd. They’re starting to get into it a little bit more and more each pitch even though there hasn’t been a ball in play yet. And that one way outside. Three and two now. Down on strikes. He didn’t make it easy for him on the mound, but they still get the strike out. Just absolutely rolling on the mound. He’s looking very much on his game in the early parts of this one. Boo fully on the attack with these hitters. That’s seven strikeouts already. So, he’s got a good pace going, no doubt. Here’s Shawn Murphy. Struck out, swinging his first time. And ball one. And that’s way high. Ball two. Way to lay off that fast ball up right there. You’re looking for something you see well that you can handle, but you also have to keep the discipline so that you’re not popping up pitches that are just a little too high. Finish him. Let’s go Royals. Two outs. Swinging a highfly ball out there towards left field. Perez puts it away. And that is that. Braves strand one. Not going their way. It’s 7 nothing. Bottom four. Play for Kansas City. Salvador Perez. Salvador. That’s a strike. Well, these Royals really producing with runners on. It’s been a right place, right time kind of game for them. They’re getting hits when it matters most. And swing and this one’s blasted. It’s got a chance and caught on the warning track. Not quite enough behind that one. That’s just a really nice catch on the run right there. He saved extra bases for sure. If the pitcher’s his friend, he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch. One of the most frustrating things for an offense is leaving runners on base. So, the big hits they’ve gotten in this one have made a very happy group of hitters down there. Kagleó in the box again takes the strike. That one pushed foul out of play off to the left. The Royals up big in this one. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. And that one missing inside a sharp slider. Next offering is down low. That’s down and in. A slider missed. Definitely a swing and miss slider down and in. He finished that really well. Just couldn’t get him to offer at it. drilled in the air high and deep right field. That one’s back there and gone. He sends it out of here. It’s his sixth home run of the season and they add to their lead. It’s 8 nothing. He absolutely feasts on right-handed pitching and devours that one for a homer. And you can see that’s what he expects of himself. At bat after at bat, he’s that confident. For a pitcher, the odds are in your favor if you keep that breaking ball down. That time he got punished for it. Hitter just did a really good job of staying within himself and getting the barrel to the baseball. One out. Base is empty. And next up for the Royals, John Ray. And he swings and misses. And it’s nothing and one 01. Ball one there. One, two down. And that’s downstairs and outside. Two balls, two strikes. And that’s the strike out looking frozen with the heater at the knees. Oh, that’s almost just not fair with that pitch. I mean, until the very last second. Looked like it was going to be well in off the plate, but the armside run brought it right back to catch the inside corner. Tell you what, frustrating as a hitter, you give up on the pitch. I honestly don’t know what you’re supposed to do with that as a hitter other than just tip your cap as you walk back to the dugout. Next is the Royals catcher Freddy Fine out to short. Allen fires to first on the run. What a play. Inning over. The Royals get a run in the inning on this solo homer. It’s now an eight nothing game. Back here at a blowout, which gives us a chance to talk about just about anything, bro. Don’t get me fired. All right, Syi in Ballpark Entertainment. You got a favorite mascot race? Yeah, I love what they do in DC with the former presidents. Somebody always gets tackled. They always get hurt. I know. And it’s just crazy. Imagine running around in those big bulky suits and somebody’s always going to go down. There’s the strike. Do you remember when Tim Kirkin ran in the sausage race in Milwaukee? No, I didn’t see that one. Yeah. Yeah, they used one of the kidsiz ones. You know, this isn’t exactly a mascot race, but I love what they do in Atlanta with the freeze foul ball left side. He’ll see another cuts and misses. It’s a strike out. Up next for Atlanta, Michael Harris II. Next up for the Braves fly to left his first time. I wanted to race the freeze at one point. I don’t think my hamstrings could hold up for it now. I feel like five years ago you could have handled the freeze. It would have been fun. And I would bait you into it and try and get you to train to race the freeze and it just never materialized. Yeah, I would I appreciate that that you had enough confidence in me that I could beat a guy who looks like he was going to the Olympic trials at some point or another. But yeah, it’s always a great thing to watch there at Truis Park. Would you have worn one of those bobsled outfits like the Freeze wears? No, that would have been too a little too revealing for me at this age. I feel you. Nacho Alvarez. Now the third baseman, Nacho Alvarez Jr., his first at bat was a strikeout. Come on, let’s go. And a first pitch fastball is in for a strike. Way higher. Swing and a miss. He was late. Strike two. This offense has just been locked down. Almost five full innings. is a shut out baseball. Next one in the dirt. The Braves hitless so far in the game. Highf fly ball out towards left field. That’s back and it’s out of here into the home bull pen for a homer. His first homer of the year and they’ve got their first run. It’s 8-1. That gives this offense something to celebrate for the first time in this one. Really great job of anticipation there. He knows he throws the sinker. That one down in the zone. You’re trying to beat it to the spot it’s getting to. Well, he won. Eli White digs in now. Struck out swinging his first time. Late on that fast ball. No ball. One strike. Two down to Oman. That one fouled off on the ground. Right side and it goes just foul. base knock right for you. Joey gets on base and keeps it going. The batter number two, shortstop. And now the shorts stop, Nick Allen. First pitch just misses. And that’s a little bit high. That one missed. Now three and 0. White off of first with two away. And there’s the automatic. Clearly taking all the way there in that 300 count. It was a cookie right down the middle. So now two on and two outs. Pretty easy walk right there. Last pitch wasn’t even much to think about for Atlanta. Here’s the switch hitting left fielder Juriken Profar who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts in for a strike. It’s 0 and one. Well, he’s been incredibly efficient in this one. First pitch strike percentage over 70%. That’s well above league average and that’s what’s allowed him to pitch. He’s got it. And that is out number three. one in the inning and it comes from a rather unlikely power source. Still a lopsided affair at 81. Now you’re watching Major League Baseball on the show. We head to the bottom of the fifth. Here’s the center fielder, Kyle Isbel. You talk about elite defensive players, especially in the middle of the diamond, and this guy is at the top of the list. Elder back to work. Just missed. Yeah, we go beyond just the, you know, fielding percentage and, you know, what it looks like, but the ability to have a range and, you know, close holes that, you know, are normally there against an average defender. But this guy is special and you can see it in his first step quickness. Breaking ball misses down and away. Boo. And the one thing about that is speed never goes in a slump and defense shouldn’t either. Hittingwise, you can struggle, you can lose your mechanics, but the thing that you can do consistently every single game is play great defense if you’re talented in that way. And this is what this guy does. Still two and two after the foul ball. Hacks and misses. It’s a strike out. He came out of his mechanics there. Typically likes to shoot the ball the other way, but that time little anxious. Here’s the third baseman for two in this one. And the first pitch misses for ball one. Cut on and lifted in the air. Puts it away for the out. And there’s two down. Now batting the second baseman, Adam. So the lineup flips over. Now it’s the second baseman, Adam Frasier. Frasier, 33 years old, and he was a sixthround draft pick back in 2013. And there’s a foul ball. Swaging a highfly ball out towards right field. Harris makes the play and that’s the third out. Back here in Kansas City, top of the sixth inning. Now the number two hitter, Matt Olsen. And that’s off the inside edge. One and only activity in the bullpen. Lucas appears to be getting loose. Hill the lefty warming up as well. Fast ball for a strike. 1-1 and a foul ball. Little early on that fast ball. I’m sure the pitcher taking a note. Look for an offspe pitch on this next one. That’s inside. That one misses. And now it’s three and two. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. And down on strikes he goes. That’s his ninth strike out so far. Drake Baldwin. Next up for the Braves. Baldwin struggling on the road this season. Better results at home. top of the zone and it’s called a strike. The Royals up big in this one and we’re the top half of the sixth. Next offering is in for a strike. He doesn’t seem to like to pitch up. hasn’t offered on either one of those pitches. 02 count now. I think the guy’s going to climb the ladder out there. Line to left, dives and it gets by. Makes the turn and heads for second. Not stopping. He’s going for three. The relay throw not in time. He’s safe. still able to come through behind in the count right there. You got that front foot down and pitch recognition was on point. Pretty impressive for an 02 count. Could be a chance here for them to start clawing back into this ball game. Manager out of the dugout and he’s going to make a change. Seth Lugo won’t go any further tonight and he leaves a runner at third. So, we’ll see how the next pitcher deals with that when we get back. Now, pitching for the left-hander out of the bullpen, Anel. This softball has been really good against left-handed hitters. Shawn Murphy next up for the Braves. Outside low and it’s one and0. ground ball up the middle. That’s a base hit. Runner from third comes across. It’s an RBI single. It’s 82. Now that here is Aussie Alb’s up to That one missing inside. That’s way outside and the count is 2 and0. There’s the strike. Two balls, one strike. Just missed. Murphy leads off first with one away. puts it in the air out towards left center. Hauls it in for the out. And there are two down. Now that the center fielder, Michael, Michael Harris II, next up for the Braves. This is a guy who’s in the lineup first and foremost because of what he contributes defensively, Chris. And when you talk about preventing runs from being scored, this guy is a big contributor. And that one fouled off. I was always told it’s hard to take you off the field when you play really good defense, especially at a premier position. And that’s what he does. That one finds the zone. 0 and two. The hitting’s going to come around. He’s going to figure it out. But right now, his big asset is the way he plays the game on defense. Next offering misses down and away and a swing and a miss. And that’s that. They get a run on two hits, no errors, and a man left. 234 do up in the home half of the six. Royals eight and the Braves two. Back here at Kaufman Stadium where we go bottom six. So up now for Kansas City. Mike El Garcia. Come on Kansas City. Let’s go. Let’s go. Yeah, that’s fouled off. Well, these Royals doing a good job at the plate with runners on base and that can be a key difference maker in the game. With runners in scoring position, they’ve come through more than 50% of the time. And you can see the damage it’s created on the scoreboard. That one drilled left field. And this one looks like trouble around first. Heading for two in safely. It’s a double and his second hit. Drove that ball nicely. Put a great swing on it and it jumped off his bat. Kind of put it all together there and he’s rewarded with the double. Vinnie Pasquentino steps in for the Royals. Hard grounder into the outfield for a knock. Coming home. The throw in. The tag out. There. now batting the left. Well, clearly being aggressive on the bases right there, trying to add on to that big lead. Credit to the defense, though. Nice execution to cut him down at the plate. Man, it’s good to see they’re still out there trying to make plays for their pitcher. So, here’s the cleanup hitter, Salvador Perez. That’s in there. And that’s strike one. Give it to him. That one missed. Royals. Swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. He has a tendency to chase out of the zone and that slider that’s down. That’s one of his money pitches to get that swing and miss and misses inside. Now it’s three and two. knocks that one away and we’ll do it again. Elder fires in the air center field. Harris after it, hauls it in, and there’s two away. As good as he’s seeing the ball out of the pitcher’s hand, you cannot hang a breaking ball right there. Lucky it stayed in the ballpark. Leo. So, a man aboard and now the DH Jack Kaggle Leone. He’s already homerred in this game. That misses the zone. And that’s ball one. Come on. And another ball. Called strike right there. And that misses. Now three and one. Right through there for a strike. 3-2, two out, runner on first. Lot of movement in the infield. Hitters got to stay focused on the pitch. Up the middle, Albies throws to first in time. That’s the inning. No runs, two hits, no errors, and one left. Seventh inning coming up. Royals eight and a Braves two. All set for the start of the inning. Down to third baseman, Nacho Alvarez Jr. Alvarez Jr. check swing and he went. That’s strike one. Check swing. Did he go? Yes, he did. No ball. Two strikes and one and two. Rarely will you see a pitcher just to waste a pitch like that. The batter wasn’t even tempted to swing. Every pitch needs to have a purpose so that it can set up a following pitch to help you get that out. That missed by a lot and the count is two and two on the ground right side. Frasier on the first in time and they get the leadoff hitter in the seventh. Good fade and sinking action in that change up got that hitter to roll on. So digging in, Eli White one for two. We talk about guys with good speed and definitely he has it. But pushing the offense aside for just a second, Chris, it’s the defensive side that I Oh, that pitch got away from him. And that’s a hit by pitch. The batter. Here’s the shortstop at the play. Nick Allen. Allen. Well, he gets to balls that get by most people at that position. Just really impressive because there’s certain times the ball comes off the bat automatically that team that hit it thinks that they’ve got a base hit or they may have extra bases and he just takes it away. on the ground to first. Could be two. Pasquantino tossed to second on the first. Double play and that’s the inning. This one pretty well decided at this point. Seventh inning stretch time. Royals eight and the Braves two. set for the last half of the seventh. And to the play for Kansas City, John Ray. Ray swinging a foul out of play. the 01 gets to it with a slide. Gathers and throws. It’s there and that’s a great play. We saw a few skills on display there for the out. Technique was great. Reaction time was there and the slide was smooth. Watching that play come together was really fun. Freddy Fine now at the plate. One for three. Close but called a ball. And that’s ball one. One down, base is empty. And that’s downstairs. And that’s ball two. And that drops in for a strike. Nasty 20 slider there for a strike. That tells you he’s got a lot of confidence in that pitch. Two, two balls, two strikes. Next offering is down low and the count’s full. And that one is popped in the air. Shallow center Allen calls it in. Two away. Now batting center fielder Kyle Isbel. Two down. Base is empty. And now the center fielder Kyle Isel. Swing and a miss. Strike one. Two down. Nobody on near the bottom of the seventh. That one the other way. Profar brings it in for the third out. So no runs, no hits, no errors, and no one left. Eighth inning coming up. Royals eight and the Braves two. And welcome back to the ballpark. Ready to begin the eighth. There’s proar down profit lefty 220 lbs and he was born in Venezuela. First pitch doesn’t find the zone. I can’t play around with him here. It’s a six-run lead at this point. Got to attack hitters even if you give up a solo shot. Fall off foul. Come on. He swings and fouls one off. That one ran inside. Almost got him. Full count. swings through it for the K. Pulled the string on the change up. This guy will throw any pitch in any count. 32. He goes off speed, gets the out. And now Matt Olsen up to hit. A walk and a pair of strikeouts. That pitch in for a strike. Go and one. The Braves with a lot of ground to make up and we’re in the top of the eighth. Swing and a miss. And that’s strike two. Started in and ended up on the outside edge. Just changing planes and very difficult especially for a left-handed hitter to track. Swing and a miss and he is down on strikes for the third straight at bat. Two out. Space is empty. Next is the designated hitter Drake Baldwin. Check. Swing. Called strike. That one misses and the count even one and one. ball one strike and that’s in there for a strike. Little slider that finds Lamar to the right side. He takes it on his own and it’s a one, two, three inning. Braves go down quickly here and it’s still 82. out of the bottom of the eighth. So up now for Kansas City number two. Tyler Goldberg Elder back to work. That’s inside. Ball one. One ball. No strike. And it’s fouled away. Line drive and that should be extra bases. And that’s going to kick into the corner. Now he’ll turn for second and it’s a leadoff double as they look to keep pulling away. He got a pitch he could get to out front, kept his back through the ball and didn’t pull off or roll his hands over and that allowed him to rip that ball down the line for the double. So, back to the top of the order now. Here’s the leadoff hitter for the Royals, Adam Frasier. First off, and it just misses. Runner in scoring position. Nobody out here. The bottom half of the eighth inning. A swing and a miss. And that’s strike one. Wow. No fair right there. I mean, that slider didn’t move till the very last moment. Incredibly difficult to pick that up. Just kind of have to tip your cap on that pitch. Swing and a ball popped in the air and it stays fair. They extend their lead as the runner scores from second. It’s an RBI single and they’re pulling away up by seven now. Mel Garcia steps in for the Royals. And a ground ball to first. Dives and he can’t hang on. Still able to get it there in time. And that’s out number one on a tough play. This is what it’s all about on that right side of the diamond when you got the first base involved and the pitcher as well. First base does a great job. Knocks the ball down, gets away from a little bit, doesn’t panic. The pitcher’s exactly where he’s supposed to be. Nice feed and a nice play for the out. And next up for the Royals, Vinnie Pasquantino and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter. fast ball right back to the mound. Tosses to first. Two away. Good sinker low in the zone right there and produced exactly what he was looking for. Ball on the ground. Nice ground out. Salvi steps into the box now. And first offering is fouled off now to short Allen. Inning over and it could have been worse. A run on two hits and they leave one. Ninth inning coming up. Royals nine and the Braves two. Now pitching for the We’re back. It’s the top of the ninth and there’s a new pitcher on the mound. Lucas and as relievers go, he’s not a big strikeout guy. Tries to force weak contact. So the command and execution are huge for him. Murphy in the box now. No balls in a strike. Next offering is fouled back. And now one and two. That was absolute gas. Triple digits on the gun. It’s just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by. And that’s in the dirt. Spoils that one. And it remains two and two. popped up foul territory behind the plate. Makes the catch for the battle number one. Here comes Azie Alby’s to the dish. 0 for three. A fly out, a ground out, and a strike out. And that is out of play. Base is empty. One away here in the top of the night. And that one missing low. Action in the pen down there. Taylor Clark preparing to come on if needed. One down. Base is empty. got him swinging for the strike out and they’re down to their last out. Oh, you got to be pretty quick with the bat speed these days. So many guys throwing in the upper 90s and you see the velocity on that one. Just tough to catch up to. I mean, guys are coming in and they’re going max effort. They’re not looking to go a long distance. They want to get as many strikeouts as they possibly can. Paris in the box with two gone and takes a look at a called strike. Next offering upstairs. They’re down to their final strike. One ball, two strikes. The Braves down to their final strike. Two outs. Yeah, that’s a little high. Ripped to short. Throw to first. That’ll do it. And the Royals slug their way to a win in this one. Offensive explosion today for these players. They gave up a few runs, but they had more than enough firepower to turn this one into a blowout. This one ends the final 92 for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shabi saying so long.
