[McLane] Vic Fangio straight to the point when asked about players

  1. I feel like this is the kind of guy, where bc he’s so straight to the point it really means a lot when he gives you a compliment. I like it. No fluff, just put in the work if you want to win.

  2. Translation: I don’t care what Jordan plays at, if he has no bend he isn’t going to generate pressure. Like the last 3 years.

  3. I don’t like the lack of much mention of Uche or Ojulari. I was hoping one of these 1 year vets would look good, especially since they are playing on 1 year prove it deals.

There has also been very little mention of rookie DT Ty Robinson.

  4. Vic is great for pressers. He gives you enough to know where someone stands and isn’t trying to be political.

  5. I know he’s not from Philly(he’s from northern pa) but Fangios still has the Philly bluntness and I love that. I’d rather someone tell me how it is than give me that southern bless your heart bullshit any day of the week.

  6. Gotta love the no bullshit approach Vic has about players. He’s so straight to the point it’s generally easy to see where you stand good or bad!

  7. Is there an instance where Fangio spoke highly of someone in a presser that anyone can recall? Feel like this is pretty standard Fangio speak for everyone.

  8. guessing “get 6-2” in this context is 6 D-Linemen and 2 Linebackers or get 6’2 in height and make himself lower / smaller.

  9. These quotes are taken a bit out of context, and you all are just taking them at face value. For example, Adoree Jackson, what he actually said was along the lines of:

He wasn’t thrown to much until yesterday where he was and he did good, he had a very good day. Too early to say what his experience is or isn’t, he’s played a good bit of ball, I think this is the place where he’s got to show who he is and if he can be the player people always thought he could be. Then he goes into his past based on further questions.

McLane definitely spun this stuff in his post to set narratives, the example above def spun more negative than reality.

  10. Can you imagine the rush any the guys on defense feel when they a legitimate sincere compliment from Vic lol

  11. Jordan Davis related quote… yeah I feel that… even a little weight I feel on my knees after a bit of workout

Damn, is it September yet… this wait is killing me

  12. The Adoree/Ringo batyle is interesting, almost feels like Nakobee last year and making him earn the spot

  13. If I had to pick a single guy who’s “doing fine”, I would pick Ringo given the criticality of that role.

  14. This is also the same guy who got mad at them because they gave up garbage points in the superbowl. His expectations are high, so his evaluated is probably hyper critical. When it reality these players will probably look great to us. But he will be nitpicking them and keeping them humble. I love his style.

  15. Vic isn’t the only coach I’ve heard over the years that doesn’t value 1 v 1s much. I kinda understand where he’s coming from. Great to practice some technique but you need more in live reps to show you’re putting it all together.

  16. Good coach doesn’t express any favoritism pre-season. You want everyone hungry with limited seats at the table perceivably in play. Want to see someone push and exceed their capabilities.

  17. *On Pats vs. Genos: “Both do the job if you’re hungry enough”

    *On the Gaza situation: “Disappointing.”

*On Anora winning the Oscar for Best Picture: “Sean Baker’s films have an industrial film quality to them that can be confusing and boring for a lot of viewers. They are documentary-esque with an artsy flair to keep the viewer’s attention. This film, like all of Baker’s works, decided to explore a world that most filmmakers are not currently examining. It’s fun and ugly, violent yet seductive, and ultimately ugly again. The way the titular character Anora maneuvers in this movie is consistently distasteful yet understandable, as are most of the other characters actions, all the way up until the final scene, and you’re left sympathizing with everyone in the story other than Vanya, the person who Anora so fully believed was the solution to her problems.”

  18. Reminder to everybody, this is the same motherfucker who during the meeting for parade, held the defense back to chew them out for how they played in last quarter
