Tampa Bay Bucs rookie Desmond Watson is HUGE #tampabaybuccaneers #bucs #nfl #nflnews

This story is pretty crazy. The Tampa Bay Bucks signed after the 2025 NFL draft defensive tackle Desmond Watson out of Florida, who is enormous. He’s 464 lbs, which is way above the typical size for a defensive tackle. Watson stayed at that weight for most of his time at Florida. But as soon as he entered the NFL, the Bucks have made a priority for him to lose weight. Watson is so big at 464 that he’s not allowed to practice until he drops weight. Head coach Todd Bulls hasn’t specified what weight he needs to get down to, but he has said this week it’s just about trying to get him better to be a healthier player and getting him on the field a little more. That’s kind of where I’m at right now. He’s working at it and we’re working with him and it’s all you can ask right now. Instead of practice, Watson was spotted running laps during practice most recently. In all seriousness, as much as we can joke about a player being a little bit too big, there is good reasoning for this. The NFL needs to prioritize making sure that a guy of his size is in the necessary shape so that he doesn’t pass out or anything more serious happens because he’s not in the right conditioning in order to make it through a full practice in 90 plus degree V.
