Are the Dallas Cowboys EVER Going to Pay Micah Parsons?? | The Rich Eisen Show
When we start with the Dallas Cowboys, we do it because we have to, not because we want to, not because it’s it’s clickable. Honestly, we’re Well, that’s a little No, no, no, no, no, no. We’re above that fray. Really? Marvelous. Yes. Marvelous. Marvelous. Yes. Seriously. You know. Yes. Because um listen, training camp stories, it’s about quarterback competitions if they exist, injuries if they unfortunately occur or people who haven’t gotten paid, you know. Yeah. People who have not gotten the contract that they feel that they deserve or everybody knows that they richly deserve. You know why we’re talking about Terry McLaren who showed up in Washington commander camp. Jamar Stewart is coming from the cold. Uh that had something to do with a contractual language thing. Not a money thing. Otherwise, if it was a money thing, we’d be playing the Cincinnati Bengals noise. We haven’t heard that for Trey Hendrickson. Not yet. No. If Trey Hendrickson gets paid, we know that the Velcro wallet in Cincinnati, Ohio has been open. I can’t tell if I like that or if it’s nails on a chalkboard. It could be both. Yeah, you know what I mean. We We choose We’re about nuance. It doesn’t have to be one thing or the other here on this program. Good point. Yeah, great point. Micah Parsons is in camp, uh, but he’s not gotten paid yet. And every single time someone’s in front of a microphone, that’s basically going to be the question asked. Like when is it? What’s going on? Certainly if apparently fans are chanting, you know, pay Micah at uh at Jerry Jones, whose response to that wasn’t uh anything um feeling shame or feeling nervous or anxious. It should. It’s it’s him kind of laughing it off saying he heard that chant louder last year will pay Sidi and now that sounds like oh so sidi is more popular than Micah. Um and Jerry you know given a chance to add a little bit more meat on those bones said no it’s it’s about that cheers were louder for the guy who’s not here. Yeah. So when a guy’s literally not physically there like CD Lamb wasn’t last year. Get him here. It’s louder than the guy who’s standing right there. So, it’s got nothing to do with popularity. Don’t read anything into that. Yeah. Don’t. Which is, you know what, unfortunately, too late, but we’ll always shoot you straight. And again, that’s Jerry just having a microphone in front of his face and sounding off about making a giving you a sound bite about something. Not sounding off, but and that that’s what he means that it’s about the guy who’s not there from last year. That’s why the chants about payi were louder than the ones that he’s hearing right now for Mike. Anyway, long story short, Dak, let you tell it. Dak who’s been down this road. We still have a bunch of drops from the Dak years a few years ago when his contractual situation was up in the air and you know takes a nice chunk out of the pie when you’re signing him you know there’s a there might not be room for other people chunk out of the pie all of that stuff right so Dak who’s been through been there done that he was asked just after we went off the air maybe when you were touching foot in Altuna meeting all the celebrity family feud fans. TJ, yeah, it was about news. Dak was was asked about the Micah situation. I mean, it’s an every year conversation whe whether it’s myself, Zack Martin, CD Lamb. Yes. Now, Michael Parsons, the Mad Lib Dak, right? It’s part of it in a sense. Now, is it it’s something that that I wish that that we any of us are going through? Absolutely not. Um, but I think Mike is doing a hell of a job um, with it being here. Um, he’s a great teammate. Um, show showing up obviously not just on the on the field and and being focused, but whether it be in the camaraderie, hanging out, dinner, um, he he’s not just doing it uh to to sign off and say, “Hey, Jerry, look at me. I’m but but he he wants to be out there practicing.” And and and honestly, I’m glad he’s not. He can’t do that to himself. Uh, that that’s the business of it and that’s the business of a hold out. I do think he’s taken some great steps of being here. Um I I don’t I don’t know if there’s a correct way to handle it. Um to be honest with you, um I will say that I think he deserves to get paid. Think he should get paid and um ultimately if going off of the history of what I’ve seen, he will get paid. Hopefully it’s sooner than later. Should we give the response that we gave each other on Celebrity Family Feud after a correct or Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, good answer. A good answer. Good answer. It’s up there. Good answer. It’s up there. No. No. Oh, that was us more than Dan. At any rate, it was me for me. Yeah, I sucked. Okay, so then Stephen Jones speaks the next day. By the way, this is supposed to be on back together again weekend or whatever it is or back together weekend. Is that what it’s called? Yeah. Hold on. Let me let me double check that. You know, I think it’s back back together weekend. Yeah, again. I guess the I guess the again part is this Mad Lib. So, Stephven Jones, uh, did you hear what Jack had to say? What did Dax say? Did you hear the fans yelling pay Mike yesterday? And what what do you think when you hear that? doesn’t change anything. I mean, we want to pay Micah, too. He’s got to want to be paid. He’s got to want to be paid. What What does that mean? What does that mean? I I have a theory, please. Go for what you think. Um, I think that that means that he’s going to get paid what we want to pay him and it’s going to be as we get closer and closer to week one, it’s going to keep going down and down and down and it’s going to be a lowball offer cuz this is what they do. That could be it. Uh, that could be it. Um, I think something else. And by the way, what you’re saying is not out of the realm at all. It does sound like leverage if you’re dealing with leverage. You know, NFL owners are known to have u um an affinity for leverage. He’s got a want. He says it like Micah Parsons doesn’t want to be paid. Well, Par Micah does have leverage in the fact that if he leaves camp, if he’s like, “Okay, I don’t want to get paid.” Guess what? Uh uh you don’t want me to be you you’ve you’ve got to want me to be here by paying me and I can leave camp and five days after that you Dallas Cowboys need to make a decision as to whether to make me inactive for the season or not. I mean he could pull that lever anytime he wants. It’s a difficult lever for him to pull for many reasons. obviously, but it could go down that road and I just don’t think anybody wants it to go there because at some point this is going to get done and I don’t believe it’s going to be lowball. What I believe he’s doing right now, again, we uh we put together puzzle pieces here, sort of the way Dr. Richard Kimell once did looking for the one-armed man, you know, and he would find a big piece and he put the phone down and have uh Gerard and the rest of his US marshalss come find it. Clarence Hill, the longest serving beat writer currently on the Dallas Cowboys beat, had this to say about the Micah Jerry Jones relationship and the negotiations between the two sides. He had this to say last week after Jerry the Jerry Palooa kicked things off one week ago with a press conference in Oxnard. And so I’m viewing everything through this prism. Jerry and Michael Parsons. Actually, I reported in March that they had a handshake deal, verbal agreement on a deal to make him the highest paid non quarterback in NFL history. Certainly the currently highest paid player. Uh, and Micah asked Jerry to call his agent. And Jerry and Stephen have not done that. And now, this was in March. And now we’re in late July, getting ready to go to August, starting training camp. They still have a deal done. Mike Parson’s here, but most likely will have a hold in. So Jerry is coming up with reasons why they don’t have a don’t have a deal and he’s saying, “Well, the guy could get hurt.” Well, that’s the case with any deal you make with anybody. So, think about this. If Jerry and Micah had a handshake deal on an agreement back in March and Micah’s like, “Hey, talk to my agent.” And we’ve had folks like Michael Irvin and Demarcus Wear on this program in the past years as we’re putting together puzzle pieces about the Cowboys and their ways of negotiating, right? That those guys say Jerry likes to go directly to the player. Demarcus Wear even said you knew Jerry meant business when he had him when he had you into his office and lit Dallas Cowboys branded votive candles in his office. I’m serious. That’s not a joke. He’s like he knew like Okay. And Jerry likes to deal directly with the player. Maybe that’s because it’s more advantageous to his side of making a deal, right? That you’re you’re keeping representation out of it. And so if Mike is like, “Talk to my representative.” And there has been reporting that not only as Clarence said, they haven’t called the rep, but Jerry made it sound like he didn’t even know the rep’s name. And David Mugaletta is a very well-known and highly successful representative representative in our in our NFL world. So, what I’m saying is if the Joneses haven’t called his rep, and Micah is like saying, “Talk to my rep,” and others underneath the Jones rep world are in fact talking to each other from the Cowboys camp and the rep’s camp, but these top tier individuals need to connect and they haven’t yet. And part of the reason why is sure the Joneses are like we’re not talking to them. We had a handshake agreement. And Mike is like, “No, you got to talk to my agent.” Which, by the way, is an opinion I would have Mhm. in any negotiation. Talk to my represent representation. So, if this is in fact happening, listen to the Steven Jones soundbite again and tell me if you think this is what’s at play. Did you hear the fans yelling pay Micah yesterday? And what what do you think when you hear that? That doesn’t change anything. I mean, we want to pay Micah, too. He’s got to want to be paid. TJ, does that give you a different perspective? He’s got to want to get paid. We had a handshake agreement. Well, and he wants now us to talk to his representation. I I’m just wondering, four years, right? Four years Mike has been in the league. started every single game that he’s ever played in the NFL. He has a 256 combined tackles, 52 and a half sacks. Kind of seems to me like he he wants to get paid. Well, and he’s not This has again, it has nothing to do but I’m saying that’s how the fans what you’re saying what you’re saying, Chris. It has something to do if Clarence Hill is accurate in his reporting and there’s no reason to think it’s not accurate. This is something to do with we had an agreement. You’re like saying talk to the agent and they are now in what appears to be what month five or six of not talking to the agent which means they’re kind of dug in on that front. And if this sounds to the fan Mhm. you, sir, and everybody else at home as silly when there’s a season to go crush and a Super Bowl to go get and a topnotch all-world player to be paid and a fan base to be served and a Cowboys organization to be lionized for paying this nitney lion all the cash that he deserves. And it’s about we had a handshake agreement and you said talk to the agent and we’re not doing that and you’re still insisting about having us talk to your representation. Do you want to get paid or not? That’s what that sounds like to me. And what that means is at some point everyone will go back to their corners. a number will eventually get agreed to and drilled down to and it might be a contract that he signs in whatever Philadelphia hotel room they’re in the night before the kickoff just like what happened to Dak in Cleveland last year. That’s what this sounds like to me. That’s a little bit ridiculous. Like first of all, this is 2025, right, Chris? This isn’t Little House in the Prairie days where Paul Engles would go and have a handshake deal with the Olsson’s to get stuff from the, you know, to get food and and and churn and go churn butter. Yeah. Like we don’t Yeah. A handshake deal today. Come on. In theory sounds great. But the reality of it is it don’t work. You know, it’s not going to work. The agent has to get involved. Like I said, the fans are sitting here. We’re not looking at all these intricacies. We’re just like, look at what this kid has done. Pay him his money. Let’s get going. which what what now that I’ve laid all again I still I still think with my my point of view I I don’t know how you guys do this TJ every year. I don’t know why why people root for these guys. This is the way you do business. This is how you treat your superstars. It’s embarrassing. It’s embarrassing and insulting that he claims to not know who Micah’s agent is and that they’re letting this drag on uh four or five months and it’s going to go right up until week one just like they did with Dak who’s the face of their franchise. It’s embarrassing. They should all feel embarrassed. Yep. Hey, look. It it it it’s a clown show and I love the circus and I guess that’s the reason I still hang around. But yeah, this is so ridiculous simply because we know it’s going to happen like you said. It’s going to get done. Just get it done and get it over with. Like a partisan should ask for a trade. This is preposterous. He doesn’t have to deal with this. You can go to a professional organization where they value you and treat you like the superstar you are because they do not do that in Dallas. They just do not. He sounds like Shook Knight at the Source Awards trying to get people to come to Death Row. You know who’s real happy? Jake Ferguson’s happy. They just sign into a three-year deal. Like, they sign people. It’s not like they don’t sign anybody. They sign their own quite a bit. As a matter of fact, they sign their own a lot. Unbelievable. I mean, quite frequently they sign their own. They draft their own. They draft and they sign their own. It just takes a long ass time for the ones that are these guys. But I don’t I missed all the shots in the media that Jerry and Steven were taking at at Jake Ferguson. I guess I missed that. Yeah, you didn’t. Cuz you know why you missed it? Mhm. Cuz the bow and the quiver never came out the quiver and Okay. Oh, they were directed at Dak and Micah Parsons. Your two best players. Don’t forget Trarevon Diggs. Oh, and your your other best defensive player in your secondary. See, now you’re going to start going down a path that I don’t I don’t really want to have to go down that path right here on the Rich Eisen Show at 919, but I’ll have to turn the car on and start cuz you know, you’re not going to I might not. Guess what? because I’ll be a little bit more professional, but other people ain’t going to have the same button kick that I am. Let’s button it up by saying the following. Thursday Night Football, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, kicking things off in NBC, September 4th. Micah Parsons will be a number 11 and he will be ready to rush the passer as the highest paid player at the position. He better be. That’s what’s going to happen. I don’t know how they get to that point B right now. Stop being point. That’s how you I do not know. Stop being goofballs. I do not know. That’s great. That’s great advice. That should be our motto this. I do not know, but at some point they’re all going to come together and they’re going to train their side. So, there are actual opponents as opposed to what’s going on inside. And the Joneses kind of dig it. I think they do. Some of them don’t. I Some of No, but it’s not all peaches and cream. But that said, he loves the attention, Rich. We all know this. I’ve eaten a lot of raccoon. See, you don’t say something like that and not love attention. There you go. They already did. How many millions should teams be forced to pay these criminals?
Did you hear that nervous laugh. He's not fooling anyone.
They'll sign him only when it's apparent he doesn't deserve it – that's how they do it in Dallas 🤷🏽
Micah is under contract this year and can be tagged next year. Jones' aren't in a hurry
Hell yeah TJ! Go down that path cause it’s facts!
Feeding right into Jerry Jones hands…this is what he wants!
Wow he doesn’t like talking to reps he likes talking to the players? Sounds like he likes taking advantage of players because he knows reps will poke holes through their deals.. and find things that won’t benefit the player. if I’m paying an agent to represent me, then you are definitely talking to my rep. Period. Not gonna take advantage of me! Micah parsons is smart.. talk to his rep!!!
ZZZZZZZZZZ….the difference between signing and not-signing him long term is the difference between 8-9 and 9-8.
The deal has been in place, joke is on us. They will pull the trigger after Oxnard, they don’t wanna risk injury. Smoke and mirrors. They just know us dumb cowboy fans will still click.
Wow. Prescott barely said anything stupid. I almost expected him to say "he needs to get himself in here so he can get himself a ring…"
Jones will never pay him(until the last second) if folks keep talking about it… Jones loves the media, no bad media, all media's good media…
I have a theory Micah Parsons wants to be an Eagle, and he's going to do what Saquon Barkley did. He told his agent not to sign a damn deal until he's out of that place.
Here, we go again with the media falling all over this dysfunctional sports organization. This is truly a soap opera of a sports organization. it's anything but a football team. When Jimmy Johnson left it, stopped being a football team for the past 30 seasons 😒
Q: Will they ever pay him?
A: Why would they when it keeps you talking about them?
Micah is gonna pull a Saquon, and come to Philly and be a Champion
The Commander's and Dan Quinn would love to sign Mr, Pasons
He has to "want" to be paid….. 😂😂😂😂🤦♂️
Wtf did Jerry do to Chris 😂😂😂
Mr. Jones should hold fast,it's so funny, keep doing what you do ‼️
a lot of noise and airtime for a team that would consider getting knocked out in the first round of the playoffs a successful season.
Keep up the great work joneses! Glad Stephen is just like his dad. Keep this going for another 40yrs!
Go birds
Handshake deals are not legally distinct from contracts that are written down, let alone signed or notarized. Expecting a GM to deal honestly with players shouldn’t be a foolish mistake.
Other stories we’d like to hear more of, if WE may: 1. Jerome Bettis’s…is he from Detroit 2. Will Favre sign with… 3. Any annual media grab by Jerry 4. Any Aaron Rogers news Honorable mention: Dwight Freeny’s ankle…will it be ok for the SB.
I love how Rich asks TJ a question…TJ is literally in the middle of his answer…and Rich steps all over him, to deliver what can only be described as, a way-too-many-word-because-you-think-it-makes-you-sound-witty diatribe about…nothing really🤣🤦♂️
Talk to the hand (agent) 😮
It’s getting old 😮 “Just Do It”
These are multi-billion dollar enterprises – with a cap on salaries – who bitch and moan about having to pay players what they are worth.
we all Micah will get paid like Wednesday night late so on the day of the 2025 season opener…everybody will be talking about my Cowboys. He will get overpaid just so he's the highest paid non QB contract
At this point, he and his agent should cut off all communication with the organization and go to another team next offseason. Jerry need to be taught a lesson about his ego. He’s gotten away with it in the past because players cave into his bs.
Jake Ferguson got his DEI contract
Parsons will get at least $200M over 5 years … JACO (Jerry Always Chickens Out). Jerry likes staying in the headlines as long as possible. Also, by stringing things out, they let the rest of the league set the market for them, which seems lazy.
Brockman is such a loud mouth name 1 Cowboy that didn’t get sign and how many of those top line players were at that time the highest paid , #11 will get done your talking about $40+ million a year you’ve got Sam Williams back from injury and another DE rookie #41 EZ that is shining in camp not saying he is Micah but like Colin says all the time it’s a position that thru the draft can be replaced with the right pick
"he's gotta want to get paid" followed by the rich guy laugh.
These folks make my blood boil.
when in doubt, jerry is wrong – the league will be better when the joneses are gone – to pretend like you don't talk to an agent to iron out details of the handshake is ridiculous – egomaniacal
It's Jerry's team, he's the owner, he can run it the way he wants. Why would any player want to be a part of that disfunction? For the STAR on the helmet? The Cowboys are not a serious organization.
Love the fugitive reference Rich 👌😂
Another 17min segment on the Cowboys that starts with "we're above that" about this being for clicks. *i don't believe you.gif"
The puppit son had to chime in don't worry goffer boy your trust fund is safe
Everyone saying "bbbbbbut he's still under contract!" is a rube. Giving a good player a new contract early is the way good teams operate in the modern NFL. It's good for the team because they lock someone in with less money than it would be to do it later, and the players get money and job security. It makes players want to stay with an organization.
The way teams like the Cowboys and Bengals operate makes players hate them and not want to be there. Dallas is getting zero good free agent signings in the next few years.
The Jones family is shady with that approach to doing business.
Still can't believe fans are siding with the BILLIONAIRE owners
Yea If im parsons im not humoring this cryptic back room bullshit – I’d be out
Can’t wait for him to be an Eagle in 2 years
Why does every athlete say "um" after every sentence during interviews?
They’ve charged themselves at least an extra 7 million annually by waiting, he could’ve been paid as the top pass rusher last August for around 35 million. I bet it takes at least 42 now, maybe more.
